Private Petersbury raised his AK, blasting away at the darkness. They were getting nearer. Nearer. Nearer. There was a dull thud as his rifle ran out of ammunition. Petersbury screamed, as the daemons jumped on him and tore at his weak, human, skin..
“Honestly doctor, I have no idea. I haven’t seen it before in my whole life.”
The psychiatrist had probed into Private Petersbury’s mind for days, finding thousands upon thousands of these dreams. But where they just a bad dream? Or was it something else.
Petersbury drank more coffee. He didn’t want to sleep, they haunted him. The daemons. They were always there, and they always came back. They were invincible, you know? He couldn’t kill them. There was a ZAP, and Petersbury dropped to the table, fast asleep…
The images had bent round his vision, scratching at his eyes.
“Get away from me!!”
More shots from his rifle rang out, bouncing off the laughing, taunting daemon in front of him.
In the morning, the Doctor checked in on Petersbury. There was dried blood all over the table, and Doctor Patilov, was shocked as Petersbury looked up. Blood rained from his eyes- in desperation he had scratched them away.
