Operation Safeguard:

In two days time, a very hated and outspoken Sinoese diplomat (ARSA Sr. Col. Lim) will visit Taiwan Is. The ROCA and ROCAF had been suggested to mobilize for his security.

Public sources believe that the Taiwanese have provided 100,000 personnel.

One must only assume that an increase trade between the Mainland and Taiwan is the result of a defrosting of hostilities, but the Sinoese 'merchant vessels', for over three months had been actually carrying men, supplies and equipment.

Confined to the barracks, the Sinoese dressed in ROCA uniform (retrained to take Taiwanese weapons) and tanks repainted as Taiwan's had been vigorously training for a coming fight that China will not lose! An unoticed gathering of 500,000 pretend-Taiwanese troops have crossed the Chunyang Mts. and over the valleys, moving across areas like Chi'an, which borders Hualien.

Operation Nightlife:

Sr. Col. Lim was actually recently promoted to Lt. Gen. and certainly not a diplomat. Two months had passed and his first assignment as the commander of the secret Special Taiwan Volunteers (STV), selected from the ARSA. They all know their place in the world. As fighters, they give their lives to their cause. Life is war and warfare is fact of humanity. Those greedy Bonstocknian aggressors have exploited our piece of Chinese territory for too long.

Brought up and trained as ultranationalists, the South Chinese (Sinoese) have nothing to lose. They were taught that killing of the enemy is a virtue, not a sin. And there will be plenty of killings, as the fate of China rests on their hands. 300,000 combat men, 3,000 artillery pieces, 5,000 tanks and 3,000 aircraft, is that enough for reclaiming the land in Taiwan Is. lost? The Sinoese have many tricks up their sleeves, there's also the real Taiwanese that are now just as fanatical.

Chi'an (Undergound STV HQ), 0100 Hours

Lt. Gen. Lim Chiang Wei had not picked a better time that was approved by his superiors. The summer midnight in late April is always hot and sultry, the hilly regions, such as eastern Taiwan, will rain and flood soon. Better to get this show over and done with so that the people can sleep better on their beds.

Hours ago, a Sinoese spysat made the latest fly past over Hualien. The intel it gathered proved vital...

"Sir, the ROCAF fighters have taken off." His young secretary reminded him. Being almost fifty-seven, the young lieutenant's female voice reminded him of his daughter.

"Guo Fu (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357907&highlight=software)." Deciding that warfare is now under the reliance of high tech, he switches over to his electronic C5ISRAI virtual adjutant, "Tell them boys with the WS-1B (http://www.sinodefence.com/army/artillery/mlrs/ws1b.asp)s, DF-15 (http://www.sinodefence.com/nuclear/df15.asp)s and A-100 (http://www.sinodefence.com/army/artillery/mlrs/a100.asp)s to fire immediately. Remember, these are the targets of their military infrastructure."

As Taiwanese fighters bombed and straffed, secured in the Chungyang Mts. DF-15s began firing, easily reaching their targets as they took to the air and only to come down, intercepting at Mach 6.0 speeds. The glare of jet propulsion illuminated the valleys.

http://www.sinodefence.com/nuclear/df15_2.jpg

Many hours earlier, similar positions had also been designated for the new NF-7A (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345619&highlight=cruise+missile)s. These high speed cruise missiles will see action for the first time.

http://www.sinodefence.com/airforce/airdefence/hq2_1.jpg

As he assigned the firing order, he hoped that the Taiwanese airraid went smoothly. With the tactless Bonstocknians being hounded for their actions in the Malaccas, there's no better time to fight for what's rightfully ours- the birthright of the Chinese is to have their own homeland. These invaders and occupiers are more than illegal tenants, they have been compared to rats (stealing from China), flies (spreading diseases into China) and mosquitos (sucking the blood of the China).

"Go ahead, General sir. I will pass on the attack order." Guo Fu, or rather, its AI reminded the old but wise general.

"Now's the time, Guo Fu." The General replied comtemplatively. "We shall be remembered amongst the military greats like Patton, Montgomery, Rommel and others for this moment of decisive action."

A shrill siren's deafening ring was echoed through the STV's rank and file. This was their D-Day, Op. Nightlife had begun.

The sound of thousands of diesel engines, whether it be tanks, IFVs or trucks suddenly grumbled into life. Soldiers exited their beds, quickly dressed into full BDUs, digital equipment, weapons and ammo and pack. They boarded in an orderly rush, the clash of boots on concrete mixed with calls and shouts made the whole affair look daunting. Sections of chain link fences were brought down by sappers in a lot of hastily built garrisons, with their leavers headed by tanks and IFVs, followed by trucks. The uniform hum of countless diesel engines sang to the night.

The first arrivals would only take one or two hours. As the columns moved, all civilian vehicles had to pull over until this endless stream subsides. A lucky few will be trapped in their cars until dawn. The continuous thunder of artilleries overhead, drowned out the conversations, if there were any. Every fighting man or the STV has one focus, to save China. A glorious death on the battlefield is far more honorable than a lifetime of shame.

The Presidential Palace is awake with activity. Not even the tabloids were aware of the situation. Usually President Zhang would have gone to sleep by now or at least made the local starbucks rich by ordering coffee. Not tonight - these moments brought back his memories of intercepting PLA radio signals decades ago in his youth. There would be no declaration of war since Sino's defacto state of war with Bonstock provided adequate diplomatic cover.

It did not take long for the ROCAF to around 150 aircraft airborne, around two thirds of them fitted in air superiority payloads and all of them newer models which the Maropians would not have encountered before. A E-720 AWACS loitering over Central Taiwan 450km away from the Maropian coast provided situational awareness updates. Although the E-720 was expensive, high-maintenance and did not have the best loiter time for an aircraft of it's size, it provided logistical and electronic coverage unparralled by any aircraft. An advanced synthetic apeature suite provided almost real-time tracking of ground units up to 500km away. A powerful NPI doppler solid-state radar similar to that on the IAF Phalcon could direct hundreds of megawatts of power to every inch of the sky, up to 800km away and detect targets flying at sea level. LIDAR provided coverage of stealth targets at 300km. HELLADs provided defence from enemy attacks. To top it off, a squad of six aircraft was assigned to escort duties.

Flying at 80,000 feet at M2.5 , a stealthy IDF-4 was assigned to it's first target – the AWACS patrolling Maropian Coast. Engagement of the AWACS was with the TC-5E long range AAM. Secondary targets were any large support aircraft airborne at the time.

[The Mach 4.5 TC-5 uses NPI Semi-active and NPI active to defeat RWRs and passive radar scanners and duRAM to defeat active radars (Missiles are small targets anyway). You could detect it with IR at close range but then it would be much too close for reaction time]

Two wings of F-36 stealth fighters (total of 96) flew towards the Maropian Coast to provide air superiority. Imported G-Suits from Clan Smoke Jaguar gave the pilots a boost in manuverability beyond human limits, if they needed it. Along with them, 48 IDF-3 fighter-bombers armed with a variety of munitions prepared for strike and anti-naval missions.

Amongst the Sinoese advance were 56 HIMARS armed with RATACMS munitions. Across the island, reconnassiance blimps with hyperspectral equipment were launched at dozens of sites.

The sound of over twenty jet engines soaring through the air was undeniably exhilarating.

"Hey, Ding! What's going on up there." Pte. Hong tapped his IFV gunner's foot, just to get an idea.

"Looks like fighters, I dunno how many but looks like they're going our way." The gunner looked back down and spoke to the young soldiers beneath.

Chi'an (STV Underground HQ):

In front of a panel of thrity TVs, Lt. Gen. Lim realized what being a general is like for the first time. He observed as his artillerymen loaded shells into the breech, closing it, then awaiting the order to fire. All the same action, done in different places, with the same consistency. Once again it has proven that Chinese troops are drilled into robotic discipline. He flicked his eyes over to another screen, it was viewed through the camera on a Z-10 attack helicopter, just your typical endless Sinoese armor column. Through another camera was on the helmet of a Sinoese sergeant, watching his troops closely as the interior of APC shook over travelling on rough country terrain. Guo Fu's capacity to provide real time information and communications was uncanny.

OOC: _Taiwan and Sino, what are your government types (i.e. socialist, communist, democracy etc)?

The Armed Republic of Sino is governed by an ultranationalist Military Junta. The Sinoese economy is a free market. There is no democracy in Sino but the people are relatively free. With the natural conservatism of the Chinese it is not our fault that moral lapses are severely punished.

OOC: This is not a struggle between two opposing political views, but a struggle of two nations over hegemony and nationalism.

02-11-2004, 15:50
For years, this had been Bonstock's land, the paddies and mountains and forests that some would call Maropia. And indeed, many Bonstocknians had great tales of their leaders, who, in the past, had won such prizes. There was, foremost, Charles Ste. Evremonde, who conquered this strech of Formosa, called Maropia, but then he retired, only to have his sucessors plunge Bonstock into a bitter civil war, with Maropia fighting, and eventually outmatching, the mother country. Evremonde was among the dead in this bitter struggle. Suceeded then he was by Gustav Adolph, who had, in the war, conquered the islands known as Sakishima. Though his expedition into Japan failed, he maintained the empire, and united all its peoples in a nationalist cause. Warm feelings spread, until he was murdered by the man called Burns. All the Empire resented him for his power and greed, and finally, after twenty years, he was overthrown, by Harald, Gustav Adolph's son. His son, eager to avenge his father, set about to conquer all the Eastern lands, and started with the island of Okninawa, but was terribly defeated and nearly killed. While laying without concience on a stretcher bound for home, he dreamed that he met his father. Told by him, the young man was, that his duty on Earth was not yet complete, and that he would fight in the battle of all battles, and there finally meet death. And he believed it, and prepared for it. Now, finally, it came upon him.

A little boy ran across from a large airbase, where the Bonstocknians had waited so long. He heard explosions, but dared not look back, for the entirety of Bonstocknian presence was being erased. He mounted his simple bicycle, with a message in hand, that he was to deliver to the military headquarters, some miles to the south. His military attire, at least a size too big for him, fluttered behind him as he rode with speed.

Along the way, he came to a crossroads. He saw soldiers, or what looked like soldiers, with alcohol in hand, leaving, deserting. The boy asked, "Where are you men going? You should be at the front!"

"The war is lost, lad," replied one. "All the best men are fighting elsewhere. There is nothing with which we can fight. The enemy has tanks, and planes, and artillery, while we have but our rifles. The enemy has nearly 300,000 men, we have but 15,000. My advice to you, my lad, go home; you'll spare yourself death in its most cruel form."

"Sir, that I cannot do, for I have promised my superiors that I would deliver this message."

"Very well, but don't expect me to go home and tell your mother you died giving a message."

A few artillery shells fell nearby, and the boy continued on his way. Passing along, he saw a barracks, completly destroyed, what had once housed the men of Bonstock now a demolished cinder. The boy began to see the bodies of the dead, despite the dark; the street lamps were still on. Soon, they too, went, and the boy was only guided by the moon and what he knew of the streets.

The streets were deserted, not a man nor beast in sight. Even the rads had fled to their sewers, the people were either scrambling to leave or getting into air raid shelters. So the boy pressed on, but began to loose his way. He checked again where he was supposed to send his message. He realized he knew not where it was. He thought about going home, giving up his mission. Suddenly, he heard footsteps. A constant beat. Marching in time. They crept up. The thought that they were Sinoese crossed the boy's mind. He tried to get down, at least to hide his uniform. He did not want to be shot. They continued. Marching quickly, until he heard them upon him. Then they stopped. The boy looked up. Perhaps three-hundred soldiers were standing. Then, one of them spotted the boy, and walked up. The boy shivered. He looked again. A man was looming over him, a tall, broad shouldered man, wearing a military uniform as all his soldiers were. The man spoke, "Little boy, why are you not down in the shelters?"

"I was told that I should send a message to another command. I know not what it is."

"Let me see it."

Timidly, the boy handed him the paper. The man read aloud.

"Flightline, vehicle pool, barracks, and artillery emplacments struck by missile attack, all planes destroyed, few remaining troops. Mass desertion. Airbase is not combat capable."

"Please, sir, don't shoot me!"

"No, my boy. You were told to give this to me, it seems. I am not attacking you, I am defending what we can."

"Then you are not Sinoese?"

"No. We are fighting them."

"Where are your allies?"

"What allies?"

"But you have so few men! No more then 300."

"All the others desered us. We are all that remains."

"And so you will fight them anyway?"

"Yes. Indeed we shall."

"Where?"

"In the mountain passes, where they must go through."

"How did you arrive here with so small an army?"

"Indeed, it was much larger when we arrived. But I shall tell that story to you, my boy, if you have the time."

"I do."

"Very well."

----------------------------------------------------------

It was in a bunker, months ago, that the Parliament gave orders for a tax levied on all ships who pass through our country's waters. I did not agree, but what could I do, being merely a soldier of the Federal Republic. It is not my place to complain about politics, it is merely to defend our country.

And so, I quickly heard, that there would be enemies who might attack us for such measures. Quickly, I had these taxes repealed, but all these nations, the Hudecians and Islandians, Marimaians and Spyrans, and others, were after our blood for what we have done to them. Our expeditions into Japan have gotten us labeled as imperialists, blood-suckers, and tyrants. Indeed, all those nations are profoundly mad at us. I cannot blame them, for in this world it seems there is no other evil so able to be confronted. We are the outcasts of this world, hated and mistrusted, for our past dealings. Then again, what is it that they have against our people? Surely, it is merely our leaders that they seek quarrel with. Why make our people suffer for actions that their government has done?

So, the enemy landed on Miyako island, miles from here. I sought to destroy them while they were weak, but such did not take, and they stayed. So the battles there rage on, with no apparent end in sight. Only more bloodshed.

As for our northern borders, the Marimaians have invaded there, and though we make progress, we have not brought end to the battles there.

And so, with great hope, we prayed, that no enemy would be so bold as to attack our people here. We sought to draw troops from here, leaving it's defense in the hands of militias and single divisions. Though we expect them to fight, we do not expect them to stand such assaults as that the Sinoese have unleashed upon us. We did not think Sino would commit such crimes. We were wrong.

I told an aide, not a few days ago, that should I resign, and leave my post, then such needless quarrels would be ended, and Bonstock may live in peace.

He replied to me, "Perhaps it would, but what pride would it leave your people?"

And so I thought, for a long time, about what I should do. I sat upon my bed, contemplating resignation and suicide. And so, entering my chamber, was the woman I have loved. I told her of my dilemma. She took my hand, and said, "Let me show you something."

"No," I said. "Let me die in peace, lest I live life with shame."

She continued. "My dear, you are blinded."

"Blinded? But I see quite well."

"No. Blind in mind. Your mind chooses now to see thoughts only a madman could think. Abandoning his country in time of greatest need."

"I shall go to the docks, and seek exile," I replied.

"Very well," she said, "But come with me first."

And so we walked out, into the streets. I followed her, to a part of town I remembered from long ago. It was where I had grown up, a forsaken part of town back then, which I had done well to as leader of the Bonstocknians. So I was almost surprised as she led me to a door, and knocked. An old man came to the door. He opened, and a suprised look came to his face. "My lord, why is it that you come here?"

My girl said, "He comes to ask you about your story."

"Ah, yes. My lord, long ago I was in your army. The old army, actually, before you came to power. The old ruler, Burns, sought to purge the ranks of all who were disloyal to him. I was considered one who was disloyal, who had betrayed his rule, as I had criticized what he did to a collegue. So he sent out a young man, an agent, to shadow me. But this agent, never forgetting that Burns had murdered his father, asked me to join him, to rid the country of this man. So, I joined this man, for I saw in him that he would do anything for his duty, for his country. And so, at a dinner a few nights later, our forces combined to depose Burns, and we sealed him off in a prison, then to exile. Bonstock was finally rid of him, thanks to the bravery of one man. That man, my lord, was you, I believe."

"Indeed, I remember, and I remember you. Though I had done well back then, I have gone to far. Now the world is arrayed against us. There is no hope for me but to rid Bonstock of my presence."

"In time, my boy, you will find what you must do." He closed the door, and left me with those words.

"Come now," said my girl, and she led me to another part of town, into a deep alley. There, a blind man came out. He saw the future, I was told before.

"My lord," he said, "I have been expecting you. What is it that you seek from me?"

My girl said to him, "He asks that you inform him on what is going on."

"Ah, much indeed goes on." With a wave of his hands, he brought up a vision. Soldiers trudged forward, past the dead. "These are your men, my lord. They march with no leader. They are forsaken, standing defending their country against an inevitable doom. They wonder why their government has abandoned them to this fate, and whether or not they will see their families again. My lord, do not abandon them. They need a shepherd to guide them through this. Otherwise, they will fight and die in vain. You must lead them. Though you may not be victorious in battle, victory will be yours in the end."

"And how is that?"

"Ah, I cannot tell you. You must find out on your own." He turned, and closed his door.

"Come now," my girl said. "We have but one more stop."

And so we left, and made it out of town, to an open field, that I found to be a graveyard. Suddenly, a shade came from it's grave. I could see it in full light, and I recognized it.

"My son, why do you disturb your father's grave like so."

"I ask what I must do in the coming days." I looked to my girl. She smiled approvingly. Then I looked back.

"My son, long ago I told you of your fate, that you would perish in a battle to defend your country, and thereby achieve peace with yourself and your country. Your fate fast approaches. You have done well, my son. You have brought your country together. Now you must defend it. And in doing so, you will live forever among your people. Go. Go to the airport as you desire. Seek what you will do. It is now that you must go, or never. Good luck, my son."

"Thank you." And I tried three times to embrace the shade, but could not do so, and it disappeared.

And so I walked to the airport, as was my original intention. I began to get onto a plane, when I noticed a group had gathered. My guards, they all were, all had fought with me in my campaigns, all had shared bread with me, all had bled and died with me. My girl asked, "My lord, what will you do?"

I walked down, and I asked my men, "Who will do me the honor of dying along side me?"

One walked up. "I will, my lord." Then another said the same. Then another. Finally, all stepped forward.

My girl turned to me. "I can go no further, dear. Tell me, what shall I do if you do not come back?"

"Marry a good man. Have children. Live a good life. My time ends now."

"Your time has yet begun. Good bye." And we embraced for a long moment, and then I departed. My men followed me on the plane, and we made peace with ourselves. Now, we are here, and we march to battle.

--------------------------------------------------

"Now, my boy, you know the story."

"Please, sir, what is your name?"

"My name is Harald, and Gustav was my father."

"My lord, is there anything that I may do for you?"

"Go tell the Bonstocknians, little stranger passing by, that here, in accordance with their laws, we lie."

"I shall do so, my lord."

The boy got on his bicycle, and rode off to give the word. Harald and his men marched off, to the pass, and awaited their fate. All three hundred would die that morning. Maropian Coast would fall to foreign hands. But none would forget what the Bonstocknian had done at that site, on that day. And in the hearts of every Bonstocknian, Maropian, and Sakishiman, they would live forever.

The news played awkwardly in The Igovian Soviet Commonwealth. Iskra! journalists struggled to present the Taiwanese and, much more uneasily, their Sinoese allies as a force against corruption and impropriety, something to which they were not accustomed, to say the least. Viewers were much more familiar with stories about the persistance of inequality or relative lack of democracy, even in Taiwan. Although it was no surprise to hear newscasters speak of Sino while images of death and military regimentation flashed across screens, it was not ordinary for school children to cheer them on, or for old men to nod approvingly through their opiate clouds.

But these were tidings of the fall of another part of the Bonstockian empire against which thousands of Igovian soldiers, aircrews, and sailors now crossed the Bay of Bengal.

To: Sinoese Forces
From: Free Maropian Coast Army

Dear sirs and/or madams of the Sinoese forces, we have had our eye on you for quite some time, but we felt it was unsafe to expose ourselves until now. We are the Free Maropian Coast Army, a "Freedom Fighter" group, if you will. We deeply resent Bonstockian occupiation, and have been gathering funds from our connections in Solid Water to prepare to overthrow corrupt Bonstock. We have funds in excess of $1 Million, and over 1,000 freedom fighters throughout Maropian Coast. The people are ready to fully revolt against what remains Bonstock's self-centered yoke. We are ready to finish up the last remnants of Bonstock Imperialism. Your forces will be met with celebration, for you have rid us of the Bonstock Plague! For this we cannot express our gratitude.

But dear sirs, once Bonstock's imperialism has been yoked off, will the freedom-loving people of the newly freed Maropian Coast be forced to suffer under another imperialist rule? Will the people of Maropian coast ever gain anonymous rule, and be finally free, to persue our interests and our hopes and dreams? Or will darkness descne upon the people as they are forced to comply with rules of a foreign country, right after we have suffered for so long?

I leave you with these words, kind souls, and pray that you take them, into account. The people of Maropian Coast can no longer endure imperialist rule.

Hualien

0524 hours

Several groups of drunken, Bonstocknian deserters were mown down as the IFVs spotted them. Uniformed losers, in usual groups of at the most twenty, kissed 20mm He shells goodbye. Such occurred near the outskirts.

They came in just one wave, not like a victory parade but more like a witch's sabbath in full BDUs. Every piece of godawful equipment designed to grind, crush and destroy the enemy, made by Chinese hands presented themselves in the dawn sky.

The media back home labels it the 'Command & Conquer war' as the generation which grew up playing C&C and Red Alert now see combat, with the 'Guo Fu' C5ISRAI system and ZZL-1 heavy battle tanks with their twin 125mm smoothbore guns and overwhelming size resembling the infamous mammoth tanks of fiction.

Propaganda speakers on IFVs and blimps broadcasted the same daylight curfew message in English and Chinese. Anyone found outside faced arrests, but whites (potentially Bonstocknians) faced shooting.

New tent barracks had to be built up quickly to ensure that accomodation is adequate. Many were still excited over the whole affair, they had slept before on the previous day, there is still much to do as many lose ends need to be tied up.

http://www.sinodefence.com/army/transport/eq2102_3.jpg

As some troops rested, others found action maintaining control. Already, what remains of the old puppet government, most of its members had been rounded up and shot, with just a handful of escapees still unaccounted for.

Resistance was few in the early hours of the morning but by daybreak, a mob of uniformed youths, many of which were mongrels charged (with makeshift weapons and clubs) at a patrol in northern Hualien, they were quickly eliminated in a few bursts of submachinegun fire. Later, their corpses were hung by the wrist up the lampposts.

0600 hours

Two flagpoles of equal height were erected in Hualien's city center. A very symbolic ceremony was broadcasted across the Mainland and Taiwan Is. as the two flags of China were raised, the Five Star Red Banner, followed by the White Sun, Blue Sky and Red Earth. No spectators were allowed due to the curfew but some Maropians skied out through their apartment windows. Security was extremely tight, with over two hundred heavily armed troops present. The sight of colors at dawn was truly majestic.

Chi'an:

0900 Hours

As they slept into the sweetest hours before sunrise, many, along with their families were dragged out off bed and into the trucks. The Sinoese had long spied out their residences. A local pirest was rudely awaken and forced to present himself in full vestments to his captors.

These traitors were summarily executed...

"Private Han Qian Lang, I believe you speak English." The officer asked.

"Yes sir, I do. My accent is slightly American." Pte. Han replied.

"Very well, tell the clergy there to commence the last ceremony."

"You mean the Last Rite, sir?"

"Yes, trooper! Whatever they call it. Let's get this over and done with."

Pte. Han moved over to the priest, cocking his Type 85-II SMG before poiting it at the priest's torso.

"Father, I ask you to perform the Last Rites to the traitors." Pte. began speaking before seeing that the priest was about to open his mouth.

"Not a word, Father! If you do not proceed, you can join them in hell!" Han reiterated his superior's request.

He moved behind the priest, forcing the middle aged Caucasian on a slow march closer to the firing squad members. As private ordered him to halt, the young soldiers of the firing squad looked over smirked at the clergyman. A group of men, their whores and bastards were being unloaded before a concrete wall. The executioners numbered twenty.

"Now, as soon as the gunfire pour out, Father. Read the Last Rites." Han continued, seeing that his officer was readying by cocking a T75 9mm.

"KAI HUO!" The officer remaked, giving the firing order. Submachineguns and some pistols came to life. Some had expelled all the rounds in one magazine and had halted to change, but the firing was endless.

The Fr. spoke slowly in Latin but his words were drowned out.

The first lot took half a minute. Some were deliberately shot in the lower body, so they writh and groan in their pain. Another truckload emptied before them, the same traitors of China. Many were so frightened at what had happened before that they end up instantly soiling their pants. The smell of faeces curiously mixed with the odor of the blood pools forming at the foot of the wall. Some of the prisoners has joint their palms together at mouth level in prayer.

"KAI HUO!" The officer ordered again, after checking that the rest of his unit had all reloaded.

The priest was ordered to perform the Last Rites again, but his volume was of no match with the muzzles.

Maropian Coast, The Day Before the Sinoese Invasion

Qiaochu Yi was overseeing this shipment of cash and good himself. The Free Maropian Coast Army (FMCA) had never been so close to overthrowing Bonstock. Insider information from contacts in other countries were telling the leader that all hell was just about to break loose. It wasn't too difficult to believe, just because of the way things were going. This shipment had to be rerouted several times. Qioachu ordered no more to be sent, for fear of endangering them. The shipments from Solid Water were mostly cash, but some carried explosives, some charges, some ammunition. They had been stockpiling goods and money for several months, ever since Bonstock allowed the election of a maropian government official to be placed in charge of Maropian Coast. But he was a Bonstoky inside. All the officials were. It made him sick. those Bonstkies would stop at nothing to earn some cash. Even trampling the rights of others, especially the Asian populace. How did they expect to run a country where the natives arn't given control?

"Frank," Qiaochu yelled over the helicopters that had come to deliver the cash, "are all the barrels accounted for?"

"Yes sir, all barrels present and acounted for."

"Good, I want to truck these to point gamma-7 ASAP. We don't know how much longer Sino can withstand this conflict."

"Yes sir," replied Frank and gave a cryptic sygnal through his watch to the truck team that was waiting for the helicopters to leave. The barrels of cash would be hidden in one of the FMCA bomb shelters. It was a civilian bomb shelter should anyone inquire. There were barrels of food, water and other provisions. The money and weapons were hidden, well away from sight. Only the top leaders of FMCA knew the code to access the blast doors anyway.

Sino would soon destroy imperialist Bonstock. Wether Sino would become an imperialist itself, was under question at the moment. Qiaochu made a mental note to himself to prepare the message he would wire Sino when the attack came and Bonstock was no more.

Dear Officers of the FMCA

All "freedom fighter' groups must disarm (place their weapons into designated amnesty bins) and return to civilian life. They may join the Chinese rank and file if they are worthy.

All Maropians must submit to Chinese authority as the 'Maropian Coast' has now been reclaimed by China. The days of Bonstocknian tyranny are over. All people of Chinese ethnicity will be treated fairly and equally under the banners of China.

We appreciate your bravery in helping us remove China off the Bonstocknian scum and your efforts have been very worthwhile. We must look towards the future as Chinese. Any separatist action will result in the severest of punishments.

Meanwhile, a small band of Bonstocknian irregulars, loyal to the Bonstocknian regime, fired RPGs at a truck convoy along a highway before retreating.

Private Li, a typical Sinoese Army logistical truck driver was whistling away at his favorite tune (Radetzky March) when out off no where, he discovered the answer to whether there is life after death. An RPG had came from the side, pierced his cabin and sent him to the next world.

For the first time, a logistical operation moving into Hualien had been distrupted by hostiles. The lead tank halted, the rest of the convoy followed in confusion.

What followed was a burst of Kalashnikov fire, from the slope that overlooked the Sinoese.

"Dismount! Dismount, platoon-" The voice of a junior officer suddenly ended with a round of carefully aimed .308 sniper rifle. His squads dismounted by only in disarray. Annoyed, the infantrymen fired back, some dared to remain in their IFV, using the limited vision by safety of the gun ports.

http://www.sinodefence.com/army/armour/wz551_2.jpg

A tank turned its turret, the gray monster shelled the hill. It was all guess work until their thermal imaging equipment were toggled on. One cannot be sure of how many were hiding in assault but rebel numbers could be well over a hundred. Two IFVs turned their turrets, their 20mms sprayed fire like a the piss of a drunkard after a hard night's boozing. Another round of RPG whizzed past, only to knock out one of the IFVs in the turret.

"Ah Hai!" The nearby gunner mourned by calling the name of his compatriot killed suddenly, but it was so sudden that his voice could not be heard over the echoes of the explosion.

Relatively peaceful in the first few days of the reclamation, this firefight will not be the last.

As soon as they had gotten off a few rounds at the Sinoese, however, the insurgants retreated, towards a highly secluded position in the mountains around Hualien, which once served as a Bonstocknian bunker. Four of them lay dead along the roadside, their comrades having already taken their Kalishnikovs for another day.

BSS Field Headquarters
Beijing, China

Despite orders disbanding the Bonstocknian Special Services, most field locations thought this was only a propaganda order, sent out by Xiaguo and others. The organization existed, though more akin to the Russian Mafia then the intelligence service it was designed as. Its latest activity was smuggling arms left by Xiaguo civil war soldiers for use by the Bonstocknian resistance back home. Employing fishing trawlers and high-speed cigarette boats, the operation was going quite sucessfully.

Upon hearing that the Bonstocknian ambassador was assasinated, a meeting was held to determine what should happen.

That night, a white van approached an Imperial Police Station. Four men got out, and walked towards the door. A guard asked what they were doing. One of the men took a knife and grabbed the guard, taking him into the van, which drove off before any police could come.

A demand was put forth to the Imperial Government. "The Imperial Government must pay us 1 million dollars and an apology for assasinations of Bonstocknians or the captured policeman will be executed. They have two hours."

A former BSS agent was sent out to find representatives of the Central Government, weary of any possible encounters. Usually, Xiaguo was not to be trusted. But perhaps now some might prove an ally. Indeed, war was hell.

OOC: That's f*ckin' whore's shit! Sinoese soldiers patrol in groups of up to 30 around the palace (other than by foot, also by FAV), so any form of abduction is unlikely, even in the chaos of a firefight and considering their special training as airbornes. Despite their patrols outside the walls, they are always within IR and sniper observation range. Should any trouble erupt, reinforcements will follow.

The success of the raid was hindered slightly due to the downing of the ASN-207 but guidance or no guidance, there was more than enough explosives to do the job.

After fortifying their new bases, three villages outside Hualien in particular, an attack is launched against a Sinoese base. Ten insurgants manage to get within range of a Sinoese base, and fire a few mortar rounds at it before returning to their village base.

Fishing boats still mingle in the harbors. Though surrounding shores were clean of fish, if one went far enough out, there would be a good catch. All the boats were quite seaworthy, making them perfect for smuggling arms into Maropian Coast. Should they be stopped in doing so, it would severly hamper the Maropian economy and contribute to a growing anti-Sinoese sentiment.

Protestors in Hualien, undettered by the bombings, continue chanting anti-Sino slogans and calling for Maropian independance. A large sign says "Maropia for the Maropians! Sino go home!" The scene reminds some of Tianamen Square, with protestors peacefully demonstrating as Sinoese soldiers look on.

It take a long time to piss a Chinese general off but the STV has issued a decree to kill all separatist protestors. Protestors are increasingly marginalized as many Chinese simply want to return to a normal life, without reminders of Bosntock, without politics, without violence. Despite the experimental lifting of martial law, protest activities has decreased as the will of Maropian independence was no match for the will of China. Raised by Westerners, not many separatists dared to risk their lives. On the other hand, when a Sinoese soldier is killed, thousands more will replace him to accomplish the mission.

A Hualien Youth Army Corp was drafted for yougsters 13-19, forstering their spirit of Chinese nationalism. The ones that are 15-19, with some experience, can accompany Sinoese soldiers on patrol. Many of them easily brainwashed by the sheer strength of China, took to their Type 56s (SKS) and shot the protestors in cold blood.

Continuing violence by rebel groups are now being portrayed as banditry. It will be a matter of hours before the next bandit hunting operation is launched.

Maropians looked on at the shootings of innocent protestors, horrified that anyone would murder innocents in cold blood. A vast majority of the youths refused to participate in any Sinoese groups; many instead run off to join the guerrillas in the villages outside Hualien. China for Maropians had no meaning. They wanted self government, and nothing less.

Guerrilla activity increases substantially thanks to Sinoese massacres. A new infusion of weapons comes as deserters from the Youth Army Corps take along their Type 56s. In one case, a group took their rifles and shot their leaders, then ran off to join the insurgancy.

A few deserters in the Youth Corps had no means of spoiling the soup. Numbering beyond 500, many have enjoyed their first tastes of Bonstocknian blood. Daily protests make no differences on how Hualien will be governed. The more opposition killed, the merrier the Chinese. Protests are set to decrease as more materialistic pursuits are prioritized instinctively.

Type 56s, although effective in accurate, semi-automatic bursts had no means of threatening the weapons of the actual Sinoese superiors leading the patrols. An Uzi set to full auto at the ready made short work of attacking underage privates with a WWII Soviet weapon.

Under the strict conditions of Operation Monsoon Flood, the naval blockade now intensifies to destroy all unauthorized vessels attempting to enter or leave the area. Controls of access via land, air and sea ensures that guerilla ammunitions, weapons, and other supplies will be running very low.

The Maropian Fisherman's guild files an official complaint against the Sinoese. With their own food running low, many are forced to cease fishing, destroying their entire livelyhood. Many are forced to take low-wage jobs as laborers in Hualien and as farmers in the countryside.

Incenced by it, many meetings of disheartened fishermen take place in Hualien bars. The occupants discuss plans to passively resist the Sinoese whenever possible.

Meanwhile, with the insurgancy gaining a firm base in the villages outside Hualien, ambush activity is stepped up along the treacherous mountain and coastal roads that link Hualien to Taiwan. Men in ski masks fire machine guns at any patrolling object they see.

Still, the plight of Maropian fishermen has a trickle-down effect. With a lack of income from fishing, other Hualien business starts to see shortage. Plus, the intensity of the Sinoese blockade also intercepts normal trade, leaving the Maropian economy in shambles. Resentment grows.

Seeing the oppurtunity. The Chinese Trade Commission of Xiaguo asks Sinoese to open up Hualien for trade, free or restricted, it will benefit both Hualien, and Sino. Seeing Sino's aggressive blockade policy, Xiaguo can make no effort in delivering food and aid.

All aid is subject to availability and compassion of the STV. Certain businesses, known for supporting the rebellion will be confiscated. It's assets are to be sold off to Xiannese investors as a gesture of goodwill from Gen. Liu.

Diehard rebels and sympathizers of separatism, as well as those who are still loyal to the fallen Bonstock are to undergo the new policy of treatment known as "Auschwitzing". The guilty includes family members and confidants of the convicted.

OOC: There is no way Bonstock can win this.

Only a tiny fraction of Maropian Coast's population remains at all friendly towards Sino. With their friends being sent to concentration camps, many continue to resist, mostly peacefully. The situation snowballs, with most, if not all, of Maropian Coast's populace being taken and sent to camps. The Maropian menace may be quelled, save for a few fishermen who escaped to Singapore, and began telling the world of the Maropians' plight.

Normalization of life is currently underway for the rest of the population. Settlers from the Mainland and Taiwan have been applying to enter into the new jointly-administered (between Sino and the R.O.C.) SAR for business and living.

OOC: I think you're thinking of Marimaia, Xiaguo.

_Taiwan means the population of Maropian Coast, which is basically the city and county of Hualien (sp?) if I'm not mistaken. Last RL census there claims about 327,000 inhabitants. I'd be surprised if there are over 500,000 in the territory in the RP.
