Mississippi legalizes cloning and stem cell research

The Czar Roger Fabus has announced that Mississippi will totally legalize cloning of human cells, particularly nerve cells and brain cells, not entire humans though, and this will augment the already existing program of organ cloning.

The Czar has assembled a team of two thousand geneticists, doctors, and scientists, and given them a deadline of one year to find a workable, effective, and safe treatment for Parkinson’s disease.

(Cut to footage of the Czar talking to the doctors and the rest on the team, assembled in a massive conference room)

Roger is standing before a large room; he clears his throat and starts to speak.

"You will not rest until your job is done, and Parkinson's has been defeated... You will not go on vacation; you will not eat unless you can do so whilst working... I don't care if your entire family dies and there are dozens of funerals, you can watch tapes of them later. This project WILL receive your top priority... Correction, this project is your only project, I don't care if you have other projects, they're on hold until this is done..."

One of the doctors raised his hand, after Roger called on him, he meekly asked, "But sir, don't we..." Roger immediately cut him off, "No buts!, there are no exceptions!" Roger then fired a pistol a few times into the air and shouted, "One year! Get moving, you'll need every second!" the entire room had emptied out within two minutes.

Roger smiled and walked into the neighboring room, where another team of two thousand scientists and researchers had been assembled… He grinned as he walked up to the podium. One of the men asked, “Czar, why are we here?”

The Czar chuckled, “You are here because you are going to be honored with the opportunity to treat multiple sclerosis… As you all undoubtedly know, our labs that had treatment plans and methods for the disease were all located in Angola, and they were all subsequently destroyed when that colony fell into the anarchy of black rule… Thus we have to almost start over from scratch. However your project will be aided by the fact that the most important man, the doctor who developed the treatment program, is alive and in Mississippi, however most of his research was lost in Angola, and he is currently suffering from early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, so you’ll need to work quickly… You have approximately eight months to get this project done… I suggest you start now. For everyday over the eight months that you take, I will have one of you shot…” He grinned.

The entire audience gasped and then remained silent… Roger chuckled, “I’m just kidding, I won’t have any of you shot…” They all immediately and in unison, breathed sighs of relief. He nodded, before shouting, “Okay, well joke time is over, get to work… I want to see you all back here in eight months, with the results, positive results… You have no other projects right now except for this one…. Get going.”

Roger turned and walked out of the room as the scientists all moved out the main doors to head to their laboratories.

It's an advancement, to say the least. Welcome to the era of science.

Ooc- We've had cures for HIV/AIDs, cancer, and basically everything else. But we've had bad records with neurological issues and nervous systems... I'd say our science is probably better than yours, although a great deal of ours relies heavily on use of research gained at the expense of others, or the use of IG treatments.

Secret IC:

Roger was pacing back and forth smoking again, his father, Curtis, was there in the room with him, his left arm trembling uncontrollably, he grabbed Roger by the collar with his right hand and in a demanding tone, "Well son, are they working on it yet?"

Roger wanted to push him away because his forceful manner in asking but instead he embraced his father and patted him warmly on the back, whispering, "Yes father, it'll be done, you'll be okay... Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you..."

Curtis smiled and hugged his son back, and then asked him, "And the MS, are they going to get that treated so Alice will be okay?"

Roger nodded, "Yes, Alice will be fine as soon as they're done with the research."

Curtis chuckled as he moved away from Roger to continue his own pacing and smoking, "Just make sure you have them test all that research on some expendables, peasants or something of the like... Captured rebels from the recent rebellion."

Roger frowned, "Father, peasants are what our wealth is built on... If it weren't for peasants, we'd have nothing to eat except money..."

Curtis shook his head as he grabbed his left hand with his right hand so it would stop shaking, "Trust me son, peasants will betray you in an instant... They're not to be trusted..."

The two men spent the next few hours arguing about the merits of the upper class as a base of support, versus the merits of the middle and lower classes as a base of support.

I thought God would want people to die on their own. Isnt this against God's wishes, Fabus?

Sam, he's doing something that makes sense for once. Let's not make him reconsider.

Indeed this is good. It will benefit all concerned.

The Guilds congratulates Decisive Action upon entering the world of genetics and cloning, one which the Guilds itself has made large advances in. We are happy to see such from a nation previously regarded as something of a loose cannon. In that respect, we applaud you...

OOC: Is that an IC or OOC statement... I'm not really sure from the tenor of it... whatever it is the idea of a God or Gods striking down nations is really quite amusing... :)

"You can't condem anything because the word is condemn. Perhaps if your nation were not so backwards as to fear education, you'd be able to spell above a first grade my level.. And Mississippi has one more S, and one more P, than you left it. Testament has no i, and crater is the word... My, welcome to the dark ages in your land, eh? Nothing like a lack of an education to prove your faith in God! Our land is the most devoted Christian land in the world, we simply have pressing concerns that have to do with Parkinsons, and as such, we need to clone brain cells... We are not harming the sanctity of life as we are NOT cloning entire humans. Don't worry, I've used a lot of big words, I'll have a diplomat sound them out really slow so that you can understand them."

Yours in Christ,
Czar Roger Fabus

"The Council of Twelve" has given their support for the legalization of the cloning and stem cell research, and thus it will be written into permanent law.
