With current worldwide commitments becoming ever more straining on the Navy's existing capabilities, and the perceived need for the Navy's use, both offensive and defensive, increasing with alarming speed, DPUO and USSNA's Defence Ministries have together come up with a programme for refitting of all existing naval vessels as and when possible. The refits will be performed when ships enter any of our nations docks for their 6-monthly overhauls, or whenever the opportunity presents itself. Upgrades include:

1) New armaments

* Improved guided supercavitating UGST-120 torpedoes (LADAR and wire guidance). All torpedoes to receive upgraded active and passive sonars. Passive LADAR-homing torpedoes also to be issued.
* Improved guns of all calibres. Fitment of ETC-type guns to all heavy warships of equivalent calibre to originals. All gun barrels to be lined with liquid metal (http://www.liquidmetal.com/) linings and coated with L-metal outside coatings for increased elemental protection. Thermal sleeves to be fitted to all guns.
* All battleships to receive triple AK-130 turrets in place of 6in and 8in turrets.
* All SS-N-19 and N-19B missiles to be replaced with P-190 Spearhead missile.
* All 3M82 Moskit missiles to be replaced with the Yakhont missile.
* All ships to receive new SA-N-20B with passive radar and passive LADAR homing added to existing sensor systems.
* All vessels to receive more CIWS units.

2) New armours

* All ships to receive armour of new design in addition to existing hull armour. No ship to have armour of less than 500mm minimum thickness (vertical) and 400mm minimum thickness (horizontal).
* All ships to receive liquid metal alloys within their armour schemes.
* All ships' internal design to be altered to increase underwater protection.

3) New sensors

* All ships to receive latest sonar, radar and EW arrays, incorporating upgraded active emitters (smaller components and increased power) and improved signal-processing and passive

sensor fidelity.
* Submarines to be retrofitted with LADARs where possible, mounted in the sail or the bow.
* New KW-22 long-range LADAR (detection range under average conditions 25 miles against Tomahawk-type missile, 80 miles against aircraft of F/A-18 size) to be fitted to all surface vessels.
* All capital ships receive ASP-101 radar arrays.
* All vessels to receive latest Bell Squash ECM arrays (incorporating frequency ranges from A to X bands, microprocessor frequency control, multiple frequency transmission systems, and directional emission capability).
* All ships to be refitted with improved LWR systems.

4) New propulsion systems

* All capital ships to receive new Hafnium-Lutetium natural-circulation QNRs. (Note: These employ several thermostat-regulated heating elements where reactor water pumps were formerly

located to maintain convection currents.)
* All submarines to receive tunnel drive systems or shrouding for propellers where this cannot be achieved.
* All surface vessels to be retrofitted with rotatable propeller/tunnel drive pods.
* All submarines to be refitted with 3D thrust vectoring propeller or tunnel drive ducts.
* All surface warships to receive horizontal axis thrust vectoring on propulsion systems.

5) Upgrades for merchantmen

* All merchant ships are to receive tube launchers for eight SS-N-25 AShMs and at least one twin-arm SA-N-20B launcher, along with at least four AO-18 CIWS units and two RBU-6000 ASW mortar systems. Many ships will also be fitted with four one-shot torpedo tubes, each with a USET-80 torpedo.

OOC: I'll update the individiual warship descriptions themselves when I get the chance. :)
