Revival of the D'ni Empire

The Dni Empire
30-10-2004, 12:59
Jer'hael sighed. It had been a long day, but the flaws which made Teha'le unstable has been corrected. This mde the 37th world he had re-written in order too make it inhabitable, but he had written people there as well. This made the 5 millionth person to inhabit the Thousand Worlds of the D'ni Empire.

Most were rocky fishing worlds, with a few thousand people trying to eke out a miserable existence. However, he had created a fine world, one with open plains, great seas, and mountains full of metals. He had taught the first people the rudiments of the D'ni language, and also taught them to obey.

He had then given them the secrets of machinery, and let them build great grain-grinding machines, and water mills.

There was only about twenty thousand people on this world, yet it had the greatest population of them all.

He named it; Second D'ni.

He then thought back, back to the days of the Apocalypse.
When that first great earthquake had brought the mighty D'ni empire to its knees, and had lost over a million worlds. The people had rebelled against the Council and Guild, and more lives were lost.

Then the Second Apocalypse had come, 350 years later. It has violently ripped apart the remainder of D'ni, and Atrus's children had to flee to Riven.

Riven had been a haven, until they found out it was dying. They had then, in desperation, put their combined wills to the task, and created a Book. This Book had the world of Myst re-written in it, and they fled there. From there, they created many more worlds, and bringing the D'ni population up to 6000.

They then inhabited these worlds with primitive, created people, learning the powerful D'ni sigils as they went. Eventually, the rebuilt D'ni. Of course, it had nothing of the spendour of before, nor the people, nor the city. However, it was home. Where their people had lived for 100 000 years, and ruled the multiverse.

They then recreated the Book Guild, and the Council. They built a small city on the surface, where he now resided.

The D'ni population rose to 45 000, and they reigned over 700 worlds. However, these worlds were fatally flawed, made by the flaw in the Book-Maker's souls. They then had to rewrite everyone, lest they lose all of their food...

That is where Jer'hael came in. He was one of the Writers, one of those honoured men and women who created worlds. Now, 1000 worlds were without flaw, would not wilt and die. This was the D'ni Empire, revived. The Council once again sat in the city of D'ni, and pronounced judgement.

OOC: My nation is a D'ni nation, based on Myst, Riven, and Myst 3: Exile. Also, the Book of Atrus. These things helped determine how I was going to set my race out. It is a space-level empire, set around 2450 AD. The worlds they control are created by writing Books, tomes which contain an exact description of the World it contains. Of course, one of D'ni blood must Write the Book, otherwise they would fail. Essentially, I am still without space travel, mainly because the D'ni never needed it. If anyone wants to RP finding the D'ni planet, or maybe another D'ni race, feel free. I will RP and enter negotiations with them.
