OOC: You should say that on the thread in which war was declared, rather than starting a new thread for it.
If you want to learn about how to do war RPs, I reccomend reading the stickies and the war RPs that are going on. It should be easy to tell which ones are well done and which poorly.
Stop creating so many threads for the same topic. Have you had any exp with any kind of forums before?

Then why did you have twp previous threads that spoek of waging war? If you wanted help with the art of war you shouldn't have mentioned declaring war.

That's an excellent step. Now, learn to type better. I've seen far worse, but you still need to improve.

Hey, don't be too mean, go look at TFU's typing, it makes everyone who reads it get a headache. Um, just remember the [SHIFT] key, trust me, it will make your entire life on these boards easier.
I did say I've seen far worse...

True. At least he has proper spelling and use of capitalization. Now if we can just get him to use punctuation, we'll get somewhere.
Read "Guide to NationStates" and you'll be set.
Then read an english textbook and you'll be even more set.

Ok guys.. lay down the bitch slapping.. take into account that Volponia is asking how to go about things (which is something many around here dont do), and Volponia, you are not a n00b.. you are a newbie, this because your willingness to learn to do things the right way (The n00b is the jerk/idiot that does things wrong and annoys people with his/her attitude).
Also, guys, take into account that MANY here in NS ar not from the U.S.A. (myself included) and that their English is not very good.. plus let me tell you that there are some U.S.A. citizens in NS that are abysmal with their own language (Gramatically and ortographically, SP?).
So instead of slapping down, try to help them get better.
Volponia, take time to read the stickies, dont be in such a hurry to get into war or other things.. take time to read postings of other nations wars and such so you can see how it is done (and not done).

OOC: That is the most truthful and politcially correct response I ever read on here!
Yes, read the stickies and also to watch for Godmodders, including yourself. If you really want to be a better player for waging war you should do 3 main things if anyone should question your level of playing.
1. Have all the data on your weapons, military, and supply lines and if possible tactical and strategical data for your nation's generals and geographical maps (if fighting only on your OWN land.)
2. Have a list of technological data and economy with budget on your computer to easily see how much money to build forces and keep your tech reasonable. (Don't build your first nuclear powerplant one day and nuclear missles the next.)
3. Keep a list of purchases from arms dealers and how much you paid for what and easily be able to bring it up if ANYONE questions it.
These are all things I do because I am still a new comer to the forums and game, its my 4th day, but hey its more then handy to bring up everything instantly if asked. Though its just a suggestion, you don't have to do this.

Adding to his last post.
Keep a detailed list of all your ships/tanks/troops/ect. and update weekly or biweekly. Then you can keep realistic troops. Remember, 3 % Normal Military, 5% if compulsory service.

Oh yes, thank you I forget about that. :D
The reason why the active troops has to be so low is the support and people BEHIND them. Even in WWII American forces were significantly smaller then 5% active duty at any time.
It has a long chain to the military service. Say you want to build an aircraft carrier. To do this you need:
Miners to get the ore for it. Factories to make the steel. A shipyard to build it. Farmers to farm the food for it. Machinery companies to produce the engines and motors for the ship. Fuel producers and companys to make the fuel for it. Arms Factories for the missles and armament. Then all the factories which make the tools for the other factories used in production. Then all the people to work the jobs in all these fields just to BUILD it.
There's nothing wrong with building or buying tons of weapons, but also include a rearmament and maintaince costs to make everything more realistic.

Ok, this is the link to The NationStates Encyclopedia:
http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=296846
Lenghty read, but recomendable to all new NS leaders.
Somewhere in there there's a "Here" link for a budget calculator you can use to see how much cash your nation has, quite useful.
To all new Leaders: Welcome to NS.

Use this link to see how much money your government has to spend.
http://www.pipian.com/stuffforchat/gdpcalc.php?nation=volponia
If you take the part in Bold out you'll get a page with more options for other useful money calculations.
there are other budget calculators out there.. this is one of the most used.
