*Closed RP Between Me & Granzi, Comments Welcome To A MINUMUM.*

Jaxusism News Network

As the camera scrolled the room, it came to stop in the center, where an audience was facing a long table. It had 3 people seated behind it. To the right was the President's Homeland Security Advisor, Jaxek Jaxusism, and to the left was the Grand General of the Jaxusism Army, Jaxel Jaxusism. In the center was Jaxusism's new Foreign Affairs Director & Head, Jaxé Jaxusism, the first female Head of Foreign Affairs.

She had a small booklet in front of her, which seemed to be only notes, not a direct speech. She started speaking...

"Hello, fellow citizens of the Grand Empire of Jaxusism. I am Jaxé Jaxusism, Director & Head of Jaxusism Foreign Affairs. On behalf of the Jaxusism Government, I have an announcement to make.

Over the past few years, as most of you know, Jaxusism has been accused of supplying and harboring a terrorist nation by the name of Jaxus Nine, created from the remains of the Free Republic of Jaxus. We've been treated harshly since, sanctions being placed on us from several nations and alliances.

One of the main directors of all this hatred towards our nation has come from the Commonwealth of Granzi. And, as an immediate response to this thread, the administration of this nation has decided to react. Sanctions are being placed on Granzi at a more harsh level.

As of 2:03 PM today, a blockade will be..." cameras started flashing more rapidly as this got into progress, "placed on the nation of Granzi, preventing anything from getting in or out. Troops are being mobilizing, 51.2 million to be precise, in the case of a military reaction from the Commonwealth of Granzi. This blockade will be followed by an ultimatum, which can be viewed in your local newspapers or on the internet, proposed to Granzi. The outline of this document is removal of sanctions on Jaxusism and a reform of the government.

We hope, for the sake of the Commonwealth of Granzi, they accept...

That is all. Thank you, Jaxians of the Grand Empire of Jaxusism."

As reporters and others tried to storm around Jaxé, the General, and the President's Advisor, they were immediately taken out of the building by Jaxusism Government Security.

And now to Jaxet for the weather...

~End of Broadcast~

((Equipment sent as blockade has been agreed upon with Granzi and can be posted on request of Granzi or a third-party nation if the request is necessary. This is a private RP and, under the agreement of Granzi and I, can have no outside repruccusions on either of our nations by any other nation.))

To: Sarzonian embassy staff
From: Mark Lorber
Senior Vice President for External Affairs
Subject: Evacuation

Due to instabilities within the country of Granzi as a result of this unjustified attack on the part of Jaxusism, we order you to begin immediate evacuation of the embassy and ensure that any sensitive or valuable materials are removed or destroyed.

We warn the government of Jaxusism that any attack on the Sarzonian embassy will be considered an act of war against Sarzonia and will result in immediate retaliation. We demand that you stand down from your threats against the Granzian government or you will incur our wrath. If you wanted our government to end its sanctions against your country, you certainly picked the wrong thing to do.

[OOC: I just want to make it clear that my only IC actions are evacuating my staff. It is not a military intervention and will not be unless my embassy staff or embassy grounds are attacked.]

Schultaria Prime

A Message from Central Director Elliot Schultz

"The Nation of Schultaria Prime and the Protectorate of Islandia Schultaria wholeheartedly condemn this violation of Granzian national sovereignty by the Nation of Jaxusism. While we do understand the nature of the economic sanctions placed by Granzi on the more militarily active party I, on behalf of the nearly two billion residents of one of Granzi's staunchest allies, consider this not as an economic sanction but unabashed imperialism and state sanctioned actions of terrorism. Jaxusism, for their unwillingness to prove their innocence by offering the international community a more transparent forum in which to examine terrorism accusations, has activated over fifty million individuals for the sole purpose of their hubris.

The leaders of this military action wish to solve this without any hope of a diplomatic solution. I personally find the ultimatum of an immediate "reform" to a government that was approved by the free citizens of Granzi to be completely baseless and reeking of manipulation by force. Instead of attempting to solve this situation on an economic level, Jaxusism and their leaders wish to install a government friendly to them and their terms because they're afraid of communicating with the rest of the world in helping to address the threat that modern terrorist groups play in today's geopolitical society.

This is not a just a blockade, but a noose around the necks of every innocent Granzian citizen dependent on their government and the life-giving trade spawned by the sea, not to mention the several hundred thousand Schultarian scientists, engineers, designers, instructors, and ordinary citizens who have made it their mission in life to help a brethren nation. While any Schultarian citizen who wishes to return to Schultaria Prime can do so of their own free will, I will not condone a government sponsored evacuation of our citizens. Transportation will be provided to those who request asylum, but let it be known that our citizens will help to rebuild the livelihood of those Granzians who were displaced in the two most recent terrorist attacks on their soil.

I damn the illegal blockade made by Jaxusism, and hope that my Nation will continue business as usual with a well respected and highly trusted ally."

Mauiwowee's battleship, Doom III and the hospital ship Hawkeye sailed into the waters off Granzi's coast. Being extremely careful to remain in international waters and out of the way of the Jaxusism blockade ships, the Captain of the Doom III sent a communication, on open channels, to Jaxusism ship captains and Granzi:

Please note that we have entered international waters outside the blockade area. Our presence is merely that of an observer at this time. We will not make any hostile moves and will fire our weapons only if fired upon first. At the first sign that our embassy staff in Granzi is under threat, we will send in our helicopters for evacuation purposes. However, they will be unarmed and marked clearly as medical choppers. Any attempt to fire on them will be viewed as an act of war and a violation of the rules of combat. Again, we assure all parties, we are here merely to observe and provide evacuation services to our embassy staff if need be and we intend to remain in international waters and out of the way.

That said, we do hope that a peaceful resolution can be had and on behalf of His Royal Majesty, King 'Lude II of Mauiwowee, we offer to hold a peace conference or host other negotiations aboard our ship or in Mauiwowee itself.

Sincerely,
Captain "Mad" Max Gibson

'Pull your fingers out, dammit,' the Inquisitor demanded as his staff destroyed all their cruical electronically-held information, 'Format, Magnetise, Format, Magnetise.'

No longer were documents shredded and burned in threatened embassies, they were passed over with hugely-powerful magnets, destroying any disk that contained information. Anything that could be transmitted over the hopefully-secure lines had been, which just left the staff the task of destroying the data. With the Ambassador scurrying around the usual political channels, it was left to Inquisitor Pallukas, the Chief Intelligence Officer for the Granzi City Station, to sort out the fallout from the hugely aggressive move by Jaxusism.

'Sir, the cars are outside, ready to transfer you to the airport.'

'Thankyou, Sergeant,' Pallukas replied, 'good work.'

With the mayhem around him, Pallukas took a mental step back. Jaxusism were demanding a new government in Granzi to lift the economic sanctions. The blockade and massive mobilisation was the tool to which the change would be affected. If Granzi complied? They'd have to get out of the country as the new, pro-Jaxusism regime came into power. If Granzi didn't comply? They'd have to get out of the country as the blockade, perhaps much worse, tightened its grip around them. Pulling on his coat, Pallukas, an officer of the Starblaydi Inquisition, was bundled into the back of an official car along with a few other important agents, bound for the Airport.

Pallukas checked his watch. 1pm, he thought, just in time.

A video broadcast from the office of the President

“Greetings fellow Patriots. Today a good friend of the Dominion has come under the dark shadow of imperial action. In a wildly unprovoked action the nation of Jaxusism has mobilized the majority of its armed forced in a blockading action about Granzian waters.

Granzi has long been a kindred spirit in this violent world, a bastion of rational thought and agreeable actions. They are kindred in their love of peace, but also in their knowledge that peace is best maintained by the ready.

So it is with this in mind that I issue this condemnation of these actions, these vile assaults on a righteous people. Fellow Noviets I must tell you that the administration of Jaxusism is a vile beast, a seeker of carrion, a harbinger of evil. They take these actions now that Granzi has been weakened by insidious agents; they are a vulture circling the just as they stop to rest their weary souls.

Well I will not let this kindred spirit, this sister nation, to fall to the parasites that plague her. No. So it is with this in mind I’ve drafted new legislation that the Prime Minister has approved today. This legislation removes any and all penalties from Granzian merchants her in Nova Hope. Should these brave entrepreneurs survive the blockade they wil have a duty free port of call here in Nova Hope and her colonies. Also while in Noviet water any Granzian ship is under our direct protection, we will defend our allies.

The second part of this legislation also frees me to enter into negotiations with the chairman of Hybalt Defense Industries to build several dry docks and shipyards here on Noviet shores. This will allow the HDI to continue to do business despite the blockade, so I implore you acting CEO Swift please contact me so that we can keep the HDI alive during this drought.

Now allow me to speak on a more personal note. I know that some of you here today have families serving in the embassy in Granzi City. *pause* This is hard for me but I feel I should be the one to tell you. I will not be ordering the evacuation of our personnel. In this, our ally’s time of need we need to keep the lines of communication open and your loved ones are our best opportunity to do that. They are all professionals who are trained for situations like this, but I want to tell you all now. If it gets too hot in there I will pull them out, I can’t ask you for that sacrifice, not yet.

Now as for compliance with the blockade, well I’ve always felt the need to let people do as they please. The private merchant may try to run the blockade but they will not receive the protection of our armed forces. However on that same note I will keep the passenger airlines service open as long as possible. Every direct flight from Nova Hope to Granzi will now be escorted by three of our interceptor aircraft. Should the blockade fire on the passenger airliners or their escorts the pilots of those interceptors have standing orders to defend themselves with deadly force. Some might ask why I do this, am I not provoking a conflict? NO! The people of Granzi have a right to exit their country should they choose, and surely the beast can admit that their blockade is still economically crippling.

My fellow patriots I must leave you now but I will keep you informed. Good luck, god willing and god bless.”

Message from Embassy staff to the airport in Granzi city

A temporary hanger has been constructed for our plane. Should Granzi city come under siege we will be exiting the city. Should the sonic boom from our rapid departure do damage to the airport we apologize but the speed will be needed to ensure safe exit through the blockade. It is our opinion that should the armies of Jaxusism get here a cracked tarmac and some broken windows will be the least of your worries.

Terri Bolash was incredulous. “They did what?”

Foreign Minister Nathanial Sun nodded emphatically. “It appears they did. We recorded a open news broadcast late this afternoon from Jaxusism News Network, announcing the commencement of an effective naval blockade around the Isles. Their public reason, being our recent involvement in closing off arms shipments to Jaxusism. The real factor? I think our placing pressure may have put a fire to their behinds, and forced them into a confrontation.”

“Any diplomatic support?”

“Yes…” Sun flipped through several pages of notes. “All the usual nations… our allies in Sarzonia… Schultaria Prime, very dependable… Mauiwowee, they’ve got an observer offshore… some embassy withdrawals, and a very unusual request by Nova Hope.”

“Oh?” Bolash raised an eyebrow.

“It seems they wish to build a temporary hanger for their jet, an escape route if things go bad. Their President has indicated that no embassy personnel will be leaving the country though.”

“Permission granted. Hopefully they won’t be deserting us too soon. Whether our sanctions were completely justified, that can be…”

“You can be sure that our sanctions were justified.” Defense Minister Carrington West snorted. “If we hadn't place restrictions on Jaxusism, any military hardware shipped to that nation would have eventually ended up in the hands of that rabble Jaxus Nine Group. The Granzian Navy will be able to able to crush this 'invasion' before the first Jaxian boot ever touches Granzian soil.”

The Prime Minister broke in. “Now wait a moment. West, let's not get carried away here. You seem to have forgotten that almost half our navy is in drydocks at the moment, with several Battlefleets out of commission. If they wanted a fight, Jaxus sure picked a good time to do so. We’ll need to get those vessels out of renovation ASAP.” He pointed a finger at his Defense Minister. “Our best strategy at this time is to buckle down for the ride. I’d suggest that we work out a viable strategy for the long run.”

His ego having suffered a bruising, Carrington shuffled his feet. “The chances of us avoiding war, as I see it, are too slim to count on. With our navy incapacitated, our offensive strike power on the blockade has narrowed to almost nothing.”

Drawing out a small laptop, he quickly uplinked it to the built in projection system. The blinds snapped shut, casting the room into shadow immediately before a map of Granzi was shone onto the far wall. A wide swath of red surround the Isles, dotted by blue markers.

“Fortunately, Central Command had lain down a course of action for just such a scenario. We’d do well by calling up the National Reserve and canceling all leaves for the foreseeable future. Though some in the Legislative Senate would be far from happy, I’d recommend activating the Emergency Homeland Defense Initiative (EHDI). That would give you, Terri, the power needed to declare martial law and divert our economic sectors toward wartime production.”

Several yellow bands appeared next. “These are the likely landing areas. We’ll need to fortify the areas immediately with permanent and temporary defense positions, particularly around the urban areas most at risk. We’ll be able to begin the pouring of foundations within the week, starting with the most vulnerable beaches, then radiating outwards to more secure coastlines.” The projection faded out as he finished, and sunlight poured in from the open blinds.

Bolash looked uneasy. “How long will this take us?”

“Ninety days. Let’s see if we can hold out for that long.”

OOC: Granzi, where does this stand in relation to your and our involvement in the Sarzonian rebellion? You've got troops and ships there with us that could come back to Granzi - might be a "nice" surprise to Jaxusism to have several thousand Granzian troops show up outside the blockade with a full carrier escort fleet. I'm not gonna RP anything beyond what I've done so far without an OK though.

We thank our allies in Mauiwowee for pioneering peace efforts in this conflict. The Commonwealth of Granzi has always placed diplomacy before arm conflict. However, the odds of a peaceful settlement are very slim. Jaxusism has rejected our earlier appeals for negotiation, despite the fact that we have not accused them of harboring terrorists. We have made it clear that intelligence is investigating all possible links.

We can not accept an armed blockade around the Commonwealth. This is a clear violation of our sovereign rights and waters. It is with regret that I must inform you, Captain Gibson, that all Granzian forces are preparing for the worse. A state of open war now exists between the Commonwealth of Granzi and the Empire of Jaxusism.

Respectfully,

Dear Mr. Bolash:
We are truly saddened at the turn of events and the seemingly inevitability of armed conflict. I have been authorized to inform you, however, that should you wish it, we will dispatch more ships to the area and take on the blockade from the rear. We realize your navy is stretched thin at the moment and we are willing to assist you. We agree the blockade is an act of war against you and your country. If a peaceful resolution is not possible, we are willing to engage in hostilities on your behalf. However, we will not directly interfere without your permission.

Email addressed to acting CEO Swift

My government has made an overture on national television to enter into business negotiations with your company. Please contact myself, President Lincoln, to speak about Nova Hope subsiding the opening of several plants, dry docks and shipyards inside our territorial interests.
