OOC: This thread is a thread for something I have been planning for a while now. Several seemingly unlinked things will occur here. Its semi open, in that you can request to join in and your nation is free to comment on things. However before you send troops in, you must ask me first.

IC:

General Danne viewed the report. In the next few years his department would be giving yearly checks to almost half of the military. He was in charge of the 1st psychology division, looking after the health of the troops. It was a pretty small and comparitively well funded group, but he was fed up. He was a glorius and talented commander, but what was his reward? This. This sham of a job. He got a good wage, but he wanted better things. He knew he could do better for the glory of nation that the high command, or the president could. Yet here he was.

An impressive man, well turned out like evry senior officer, he was clear of 190cm tall and blond, his eyes were brown however, in many respects he was handsome, he had no problems with the ladies, but they were never his greatest concern. neither were other men, he had bigger goals than mere people. He had friends, but they were few and far between, a few trusted aides and childhood companions, but he didnt need too many people. He liked time to think.

But things were changing, he checked many officers and troops over and could influence them. Hypnotherapy was part of his opening. His way to get power. He just had to ensure a few suggestions were put in and he would have a powerful force at his command when the time came. And he knew the time. It was approaching quickly. He had begun already. The psychologisyts were easily turned by a few tens of thousnads of dollars. he hadnt just saved his wage, he had invested it. he was a great risk taker and he knew it. The money over the years had built up, and now he knew what he could buy with it.

A man entered his office, another at the moment, loyal psychologist. He put his hands on the briefcase, and its contents and prepared to talk. It would be the usual line. Half now, half in three years, and the same amount every three years after. His funds were growing exponentially actually. Danne was rich man, and soon he would be powerful beyond his wildest dreams.

Soon he would lead the nation to its glorius place in the world, free from the pathetic peacemongering of its present government....

Danne had programmed many men already. Subtly, they wouldnt doubt what he said, but yet otherwise would be the same. The men were loyal to him and didnt know it. He chuckled and his huge frame shook for a second.

He was reviewing the work being done, he peered in briefly on a session as he inspected things. The screens showed pictures of him and the subject was told all about how he could trust Danne during the hypnosis stage. The pictures went off and the screens went back to being blank. The subject came to and began the rest of the normal analysis. He wrote a few notes and walked through the wide beige carpeted halls.

A short and unsoldierly man walking into him. The badge he wore identified him as a scientist of a high security site on Primus. The scientist had been treated already and looked at Danne for a minute.

"Sir, pleased to meet you"
"The pleasure is mine, your name is...?"
"Goran, Edward Goran, sir"
"Well, Edward, at ease, you are off duty so relax. How did you find your session?"
"Good sir, thankyou, you are a very talented man."
"I try", he blushed feeling pride, even though he knew the man said it because he had been made to think so. But he was cleverer than his superiors thought.
"Sir, there is a secret vacancy coming up, its classified but I thought youd want to know. I work on a secret base and we are due a new commander. We'd love you to be there."
"Really?" he thought to himself, that the hypnosis worked, the man adored him. The job didnt seem interesting, he could find out about technology before it entered use, while he continued brainwashing people. The new commander of his job could just be an aide. But what was the point?
"We are testing the new power armour. Battlesuits or something. No name yet, but that secret armour project that the government denied... well, it actually happened. I know I shouldnt be telling you this, but never mind, we can trust a hero like you sir"
"Oh you can, sounds very interesting actually" on second thoughts, perhaps he could take the job... maybe he should check the details then deliver a bribe. Such things could be useful. (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=368369)
"Yes sir, they are certain the armour is viable, the concepts are done, prototypes and weapons are being done and the final detaisl refined. We can get up to 92% mobility on the enhanced armour, while the battlesuits, the big ones vary from 88% to 70%. BUt the protection and firepower make it worth it. I mean when we finish this we are talking second skins here. The small suits personnel and light suits will fit in barely modified APcs and the medium and heavy suits can fit five in a ten man transport. Its brilliant. think fo the power!"

Think of the power indeed Danne....

(May I join in?)

if so...

Glemte Hage will not allow such power to fall into the hands of a madman- we are prepared to use force against this threat if it arises

We have 10'000 troops with AK-47's ready for shipping within hours should it be required.

Also- we are prepared to offer an elite squad of our assasins to attempt to take out this traitor subtlely before he can bring his plans into fruition

OOC: no one knows about it that is willing to act. So effectively you cant react yet. ie Its effectively a secret IC. Your nations wouldnt know about it. But will find out soon enough.

Though later on such a force may be desirable.

Thanks for the offer though.

Please TG me with any further offers if this does occur. And watch my pop, when I pass 1 billion, thats when things will get interesting.

OOC: lol TG, as in telegram me

IC: Danne Was enjoying his new position, the power armour was way from being a finished project, but he was watching the tests intently. The armour project was a big sucess. There was no way these things would stand up to anything too powerful, but they would easily stop a bullet, and werent as clumsy as he thought they would be. Gyros made them balance like a human and they could even get up. They could carry some nice hardware too.

The AFDSABOT 30mm shell was a sucess as was the new APC, for once he was getting recognition from high command, he got things done. But it was too little too late. A 30mm shell with high performance armour piercing (as in standard AFDSabot type performance... 800% of shell diameter = eff penetration, so its not a threat to tanks, just other pwered armour suits) wasnt exactly the glory he deserved.

They would be perfect for replacing infantry, but he didnt forsee that happening for a while.

He made a note of where they were going to go and made sure that his old division would deal with all the suit wearers. This unexpected event was making events a lot easier.

President Cox sat at her desk and smiled, everything was underway. Soon the nation would pass 1 billion people and then there would be a big party. She enjoyed big parties, afterall it was a rare chance to let her hair down and have fun, something she missed a lot. She sent another email making sure all departments were on schedule and then continued typing.

Huge chunks of the army would be there, making sure things went well. Though as it was a three day party, they would all geta chance to join in at some point. Shift work almost.

And of the people several million would gather in the sqaure in the capital. Its entire populace would turn out along with people from as far away as secondus and maybe even Irondin. She telegrammed the invites there too.

She just hoped everything would go well.

Danne inspected the suit. It was the first of its kind. Personnal armour that worked and the bugs had been removed. The limits reduced. The power life enhanced. It was dwarfed by the other first run designs behind it. The battlesuits, but it was still the future of war. He grinned. Over 10000 would be ready for use and men would be trained in them by the time his plan was executed. Various grades of armour, all ready for his coup. He tracked the suits through the military and made sure that they went to men on his side. Half an army who didnt even know they were loyal to him.

The time was approaching for his coup and the exact moment was clear, it was just not quite now.

The specs were shaping up nicely, all used small halfnium reactors of various sizes to power themselves. The larger suits having a longer life than the smaller ones, but the personnel armour with up to ten days.

The APCs were ready too. The new army would be his to control...

OOC: Stats here, any constructive criticism? Bear in mind the costs do not include maintenance or training, and that even the personnel suited men (A class) will cost twice as much to run and equip, while the D class are 5 times as expensive and the V class, basically walking fire support, are 16 times the cost of standard infantry. The B and C fall in between this.

If anyone just want sot ignore or call godmode, just dont botherm do so silently. If you have a problem bear in mind this is all feasible, but with difficulty. If you think they are still too cheap with the above multiples of normal costs, then say, if you think they should costs a few more times the cost of standard infantry. Please say. If I get more people telling me they are too expensive than too cheap I will increase the costs slightly.

The various sizes will be named later. Probably after my testing period.

The details are limited, but this all I need to know for RPing at the moment. I will add details as necessary, but as Im using them myself and not selling, the fine details are necessary yet I think. THough I will constantly refine and increase the detail as I go with these.

OOC: *bump* because Id like a little feedback on this. I will take silence on this as everyone that as read it hasnt got any serious problems with it. If no one has problems I wont make any serious changes.

Note the suits surfaces will be heavily curved to deflect attacks, hence the relatively lowish weight to protection ratio.

It like to use such tech in modern tech, so Id like it to be fair on other players, in the sense that yes, it will improve my power, but not in an unreasonable way and with the trade off's I have listed above, including the need for regular maintenance etc.

President Cox sat was sat in her tastefully decorated white office, with her bare feet on the soft carpet. It had been a hard day organising all the events that were happening. Irondin was sending its snootiest ambassador, which made things difficult, as he would probably just sit and turn his nose up at everything. There would be a few others present, including a 12 year old girl and her 11 year old brother who were orphaned three years ago but had come up with an idea to save several thousand homeless accross Irondin by getting them a foot in the job market. There was also a man who would turn 100 during the festival but was still running half marathons.

Of course it wasnt exactly true. You couldnt know the exact moment rthe baby would be born, there was no way, so instead some statisticians had predicted it and when the party would start within a few hours. Afterall you could never know exactly which baby was 1 billionth without checking the records afterwards for several months.

Anyway, this didnt matter, the army would be in place and the whole government could let their hair down for once.

She was really tired and couldnt wait for this year's holiday. All the walking she had done was giving her blisters and even the expensive carpet seemed to burn her tired feet. She groaned for a second.

There was a knock at the door.

Defense minister Matthew Beesley wandered in clutching a document to his chest and looking nervous.

"Sorry Kirsty, but its quite important. You need to sign for those battlesuits and their production, we should have a few thousand equipped by next year. The exact number depends on the production, but five to tenk we are thinking. Then they can be properly tested."

"Okay, I will sign, pass me a pen please Matt," you looked tired but after she finished the reply and signed this sheet, she would go home and sleep, for ten hours, she only worked four hours on Saturdays, and today was Friday. Infact she'd probably go out tonight too, turn up at four and work to eight, then go home again.
"Going anywhere tonight Matt?" she enquired,
"Yes, " he said "I've got my long weekend canoeing" He grinned.
She smiled back, she'd be out tonight, she could murder a stiff drink.

She went back to typing the reply...

Kirsty Cox watched the crowds file into the square and smiled. The Irondinese guests watched in awe, excepting one, Ambassador Shren, who simply turned his nose up and continued his remarks about barbarianism. He hadnt been impressed hy anything and had even made the two children cry through the way he had talked to them.

The atmosphere was electric as two million people were in this square alone, watching the stand. Music played onto the crowd and Kirsty readied her speach. The food was already ready and huge carnival processions would go through the space, clear of people in the middle of the square. Just ten minutes left.

*****

Danne was ready, most of the men here were his, soon he would make his enterance. He removed the helmet from his power armour, and was flanked by four 3 metre battlesuits as he marched on the stage. Security, all army, just let him pass and he made his way. Hopefully the peoplein the SAM contril were his too. He had given them orderds patched a link to them. He barged up the stone steps onto the historic stage followed by four suits.

*****

Kirsty stepped up to the mic and began speaking. The crowd went quiet.

"People of Notquiteaplace, we have a very interesting event, in three minutes we will pass 1 billion people, and then we can begin...!

Danne had reached the stage and wired himself into the comms at a much higher volume level than her.

"To obey the new regime, my regime"
People looked blankly at him like it was some sort of joke.

"As of now I control this nation, I control the capital, these men are loyal to me"

People laughed, and Danne became furious. "Men" he roared, " show these people I mean business, kill them"

Fire rang out from the edges of the square and hundreds of people were killed in a short burst of fire as the security began to thoughtlessly obey. Danne raised his assault rifle to the one snooty bastard that had stayed on stage. Some Irondinese fool, still talking about barbaric unstable governments, he raised his assault rifle and fired. The crowd began to wail in horror.

"be silent and obey"

One heavy suit interjected by firing his flamethrower accross the crowd, immolating dozens of people near the stage and scorching their skin. All that could be heard were theor screams of pain. The programming had been far better than he had imagined...

*****

Running from the uprising Kirsty jumped into her escape helicopter with her cabinet and several aides and ran. She wasnt going to die, she was going to see who remained loyal and try to save the nation, but right now there was nothing.

Suddenly several men were pointing guns at the copter before it could escape. For a brief moment there was not point. Several shots rang out and black clad figures moved in over the corpses.

"Colonel Afisson, of the first special ops regiment, we are loyal, what are your orders maam"

Kirsty smiled, she had never been more happy to see a man brandishing a gun like that, and was glad it was the best of the best doing so.

"Thankyou colonel. could you tell me what you know."

"Okay, Danne seems to have taken over most of the army and navy, somehow, but a large portion has remained loyal. What do you advice"
"Meet us at the base 100 miles south of here, thbat doesnt exist to most non military personnel."

"Yes maam, that one. We shall gather any loyal forces we can"
"Good Afisson, I wont forget it, see you there. We shall try to decide what to do then".

THe helicopter left and withing 20 minutes arrived at a clearing in the jungle. It set down and large portion of ground peeled away to reveal an enterance.
*****

Danne was furious, "they escaped, how?" silence.
"never mind, just activate the SAMs now. All aircraft and incomings. And patch me into the PA again".

He took to the stage, " we control the skies now, no aircraft shall fly over notquiteaplace. Our automated defense is the thickest in the world and will shoot anything that flies overhead"

In the sky above the city there was a streak of fire as a missile shot towards an airliner. There was an explosion and it tumbled to the ground.....

OOC: the airliner has people in of any nation that wish to join in and have already asked. It may also have people of any ally I have in. Please do not send aid yet. But you have an excuse when I ask for it next post.

They had gathered at the base and within a few hours there were a few unit there. 3 regiments of rapid infantry that had run into to SO regiment heading from the city, and three more partial ones that had met enemy. As well as a couple of tank regiments. About 5000 mechanised infantry and a hundred or so tansk were all that were loyal in the whol area.

Kirsty was holding a meeting with the cabinet while the units assembled. She already ad several ideas. The group stood in a steel room deep underground.

"okay Matthew, what background do we have on General Danne"
Matt checked his notes and shuffled nervously. It was hard to look serious when dressed in party clothes, but the situation made it possible.
"he was head of our psychology division, made a lot of money on the stock market and as soon as the post opened up ended up in the research division."
"The units that joined him did very suddenly. Any link?" She asked, feeling that he had to have contacted something. This had come out of nowhere. He had announced he was in charge and they just obeyed.
"Well we only know of a few units, but we have searched the loyal units and theses both with respect to Danne, we have only found one link"
Kirsty waited for a second. She looked impatient.
"Well?"
"It seems obvious, but he treated half the army. ANd so far no loyal units were done by him, and all defectors..."
"were treated by him" Kirsty butted in. Right, so he was up to something? Maybe we shoudl find out?"
"Well.." his base is accross the mighty river notquite and about 200 miles East"
"We will have to take the bridge then!" Kirsty was feeling matter of fact, there was no point in hesisting while her country needed her. Though she did wonder what this man was up to. The meeting discussing plans continued for a good three hours before everything was agreed on.

*******
Danne had the army fortify the city. He would have to fend off counterattacks. People were pressed into serving this mission and also into making new battlesuits. His army would need equipement. It would be several weeks before he had more than the few thousand suits he had aquired even with the press ganging, but once production was begun on the large scale he could equip his army in two years.

He walked through the streets inspecting progress. At his feet a scorched corpse marked a resisting person, who had argued with his men. And accross the street walls were having sandbags placed against them. The SAM control bunker was a small distance from his palace, a mere mile, and that was being fortified. If the SAM system was switched off people could airlift troops in.

For now, he had control, half the navy at his feet, the other half in dissaray, were beaten back into a port on secondus.... the loyal army were scattered too...

*****

From a transmitter 50 miles from the base she sat in Kirsty's voice was sent to anyone who would listen.

"This is Kirsty Cox, President of Notquiteaplace, this is a plea for help. We have been overthrown by a rebel general and half the armed forces are on his side. The rest is in dissarray. We cannot request aid by air yet because, oour air defence has been set to destroy anything that moves in the skies.

Our navy,is trapped at secondus (a different island) in the port of Lower Rochester. Please help them break out. Reports are that secondus is also under seige, in an attempt to attack the navy from two sides. Please help Lower Rochester and try to remove enmy from the continenet. Exact numbersd are unknown, but we believe there are as many as 80000 enmy troops and hundreds of tanks present, loyal forces are not much smaller but much less organised. The enemy are immensly loyal to their commander but we suspect foul play.

This next part of the message is to our brave sailors. Please help our allies land if you can escape the blockade.

Thank you to all who help us."

*****

In Lower Rochester Chaos reigned. A few loyal army units held the town under heavy bombardment from rebel weapons, but between sheltering in the ruins were able to retaliate against infantry while the navy kept the enemy artillery at bay. Among the burning ruins of the outskirts of the city lay hundred of dead civilians and dead soldiers. But they fought on, as the civilians fed them. Food was running low and despite feeding the army well, the people were living poorly.

400 ships were trapped in the bay as well as support vessels and subs. Outside sat a simular force, who fired missiles apon any ships that moved and making regular, innefective but moral sapping raids. the est of the navy was scattered and hidden in rural coastal areas and out near Irondin waiting to return.

The navy was trapped and a whole city was being decimated by the rebels. There was little that could be done by the forces except fight and wait for their death.....

Danne laughed. He knew roughly where the president was. He just had to catch her and her cabinet to finish the coup off. Intel reports showed roughly where she was, and he had set a ring of men round it, he had trapped her, as doubtless she knew she couldnt just fly away this time.

He read another intellegence report and smiled to himself, the fools were reisisting accross the nation, but they were disorganised and demoralized, their supplies were low and his men were soon to win if someone wasnt going to intervene and help....
***
The cabinet stood in a small hall discussing plans still, it was about 8 in the evening,
"so they have us surrounded? How can we escape?" Kirsty asked, a look of concern and lack of sleep showed.
"We'll have to breakthrough and charge on I guess", replied Matt.
"but we cant have the supplies to operate. Once we break out we cant return. We will be stranded without supplies..."
"Ah, but thats where your wrong, theres a load of trucks in the next room, mainly supply trucks, a few with fuel and about 1million crates of Hawdawg C rations. We can last a few weeks with that. And I think we could probably increase the life of our supplies.

The fortress town of Redmound is about thirty miles east of our capital, from what I hear it;s resisting. If we can gather a few more units, its old medievil walls could shelter us froma few attackes while we wait for aid. Plus there might some supplies." Matt replied.

Kirsty smiled, "from there would could activate the militia, I think we are going to have to somethin pretty drastic to save things right now."

"Agreed" Said Matt.
"Its not like the country isn't going to be ruined by this madman anyway." Added home secretary Rachel Short.

"I'll gather the men and ready them for the attack. 2 in the morning tommorow is about the best time, we can strike out while its dark, they are more likely to be confused that way"

"Agreed" Kirsty added, "now lets get sleep."

4 regiments of mechanised infantry, making 4000 men, 100 light and 80 main battle tanks along with some artilerry and a few support units were readied. They would be followed by hundreds of supply and fuel trucks. THe attack was ready.

At 2am in the dark the column shot towards the bridge at which two entire regiments of mechanised infantry were placed. Some on guard, most sleeping or resting in tents at the foot of its mighty superstructure. It was the main bridge accrross the mighty river, which was 100 metres wide at this point, it was a steel suspension bridge.

Stopping a distance away 4000 men disembarked and 300 metres from the bridge burst from the jungle firing their assault rifles apon the surprised enemy. Cries rang out and after a brief pause. However the superior numbers and surprise caught the, off guard. Many men scrambled from their tent and were gunned down before they could even reach their enemy. There were screams as men fell like stones, while the attacking force had only a few bodies to step over.

The jog sped to a run and the loyalists drew blades, running up to the rebels and began melee. Bodies tumbled and twisted and people fell as both sides struggled amongst eachother, fellow countrymen intent on nothing other than murdering their oponents for picking the wrong side streuggled for supremeacy. After what seemed like hours of combat it was suddenly silent as the loyalists superior numbers had given them a big advantage.

As the infantry approached the bridge 10 massive figures strode out of the darkness like demons, with rapid firing cannon blazing. The large shells tore men apart and the infantry began fall to their deadly weapons, while their weapons failed to do more than chip the paintwork. As they approached the Heavy battlesuits closing to throw grenades, two fired flamethrowers apon the men flames liking out and illuminating the ugly armour, emphasised in the dark.

Men began to burn alive under the intense heat, and the infantry fell back as the grenades didnt land close enough to do any damage. Only a few dozen casualties lay there, but they needed a different way to bring the suits down. Responding to a comms signal 20 light tanks burst from cover and began firing apon the targets. Faced by a better armed and armoured foe they were decimated, lumps of hot steel and burnt flesh scattered by the mighty impact of the 105mm shells, the armour, seemingly unstoppable to the small arms of the infantry was nothing more than paper to bigger weapons...

Not having time to mourn their loss the troops continued what would be a quick and less violent drive to the target....

IC.
02:45 hrs EGST (Easy green standard time) The president burst though the heavy doors of the main briefing room in bunker 42, The room was filled with the sounds of radio transmissons as commanders barked orders around the room.

The President moved straight to the centre table in the room where a lone general sat looking over piles of paper. All around him was chaos but he seemed to be in another place, a place of calm.

"Good morning Roberts, whats the stat on the situation?"

The general sat for a moment before looking up to the president, he smiled.

"Well President lets just say things are Fubar out there, A man going by the name of Danne has begun a rather forceful take over of Notquiteaplace. From what know the forces still loyal to Kirsty Cox are either on the move to the fortress town of Redmound or under siege on Secondus."

The president glanced over the documents infront of him, they layed out infromation on what forces he had to hand and what they situation was like in Notquiteaplace, he had 20 yrs of military service behind him, he was in overall command of the forces of Easy Green.

The president looked once more over the document about the forces he ahd available before begining to give out the orders to the men around him.

"Right" his voice brought the room to silence

"I want the 1st, 2nd and 5th fleets ready to role asap full supplies and full troop compiment, The 22nd and the 49th logistics are to be loaded with the 42nd 45th and 70th armoured and the 1st, 2nd and 8th infantary. OOC: fair enough.

IC:

It had been a few hours since they had arrived at the pschology division base. They had downloaded al,l the files and had begun scanning them and while various IT specialists read through the files. Kirsty waited with them with baited breath. The place was deserted but freshly and they had little problem starting the computers and hacking them for data.

Suddenly Matt ran in "Erm, we have a problem..."
"well?" she replied, knowing already what it was.
"Enemy forces approaching us rapidly, we have about thirty minutes ETA"
"Right, ready evacuation, remove the computing specialists in fifteen. We load them last and run."

At that point someone in the room printed something out, eighteen pages of pictures words and scripts...

He ran up to Kirsty and saluted.

"maam, I think I have our awnser"
She skimmed it and smiled
"well done, I understand now.... everyone to Redmound. Now, we will sort this later."

She looked satisfied but upset at once. But still managed to spring to her APC and sit quietly throughout the journey.

They quickly assembled and left shortly before the rebel forces could get a visual.

The documents provided an interesting and frightening read. They had been heavily concealed, but werent too hard to find or hack as they were accessable to many of the staff in the facility for their use.

They detailed the brainwashing and hypnotic suggestions of the psychology department and what was done, and it was suddenly obvious. If they could kill Danne they would probably lose all opposition instantly, unfortunately, they would still have to fight through them... Fortunately it seemed they would have help.

The convoy sped to Redmound.

****

Danne was furious, not only had the division been searched, but reinforcements were due. He stood in his palace, which was still under construction and spoke to a a general who stood by him to attention.

"It is imperitive for the safety and security of our country that we remove the trouble maker. Take a division and shatter their forces, quickly."
"Brilliant idea sir. You are a talented leader"

The general wasnt sure why, he just knew Danne was right. He marched away.

OOC: that snt going to stand up too long against my navy by itself. But if it were to say join a running battle *HINT* then it might allow a break for two fairly evenly matched forces.

IC: In Lower Rochester, fleet admiral Lamb sat in the brodge of the kentish class dreadnought, the "Liberator of truth" and began plotting, his fleet had lost a few smaller ships in the recent attacks and one or two of the larger ships were only floating because they had strong internal bulkheads preventing them from being gutted and the enemy outnumbered them now, but they were closing on the town and soon there would be heavy bombardment on the ships. They had spent almost half their ammo already and the soldiers couldnt last forever, they had to escape. They waited until nightfall and the soldiers boarded a couple of empty transports.

As they readied to leave they received a signal from a unit just outside town.

"This is the 1st heavy infantry Brigade, we have avoided combat this far. We have 4000 well equipped men. Please take us too. Our ETA is eight minutes. Enemy will be here in twenty. We want to help you take the fight to Danne, "

Lamb hadnt thought about where to go. But now he had more than a few hundred infantry to think about Primus was his destination. He checked the unit and its status and he couldnt find any reports on it. Finnally one came up. He couldnt believe what he saw either. But they were on his side.

He just had to break through...

THe infantry loaded and onto several half empty transports in their large APCs. It seemed unfamiliar to Lamb actually, like a new model, there were a few trucks there too. In the bays reports came through as some normal mechanics clambered out. But the infantry were a little different. Lamb heard the shock and smiled. They were just what the fleet wanted.

With everyone boarded the fleet accelerated towards the blockade, every man ready for enemy to come in range.

The nail class counter subs swept the depths for enemy and the Seadragon tactical subs readied their anti shipping torpedos. The corvettes zipped round the larger vessels ready to pull their numbers and overwhel another target while the destroyers and frigates readied racks of missiles. But they sat among the huge dolphin and dragonfish cruisers and the kentish dreadnoughts. Huge tough and well defended behemoths of the sea by comparison. Larger still were the Spinefish and Orca carriers that sat with their ships idling. There was little they could do for now, but their handfull of weapons were readied for the first target. Four hundred ships approached another four hundred simular vessels, but all that mattered now was survival.

Every man sat behind their position ready to punch in the first target, aim the first SAM or fire the first torpedo.

The other fleet came on the radar and all hell began to break lose.

OOC: this and the last post have happened pretty much simulteaneously. Easy Green, now would be a good moment to intervene.

OOC: Summary?
Notquiteaplace
04-11-2004, 12:20
OOC: Okay, Danne is a jealous general who feels he's been overlooked he's actuallya pretty clever man and very good risk taker. he has been using the huge gains from his investment in stock to buy out a few individuals. As such he ended up in charge of the minds of 60% of the armed forces, as head of the 1st psychology division.

he used this opportunity to insert suggestions into the troops during hypnotherapy sessions and build an army, in time for his perfect moment for the coup. The 1 billionth person celebrations of NQP.

During this time he found out about the powered armour research and used his money to buy a seat there, installing a an aide to make sure psychology keeps inserting those messages.

When the coup came half the armed forces decided that for some reason he had to be completely right and they would trust whatever he said.

The president Kirsty Cox has found out about this and is heading to a medieval fotress town to rally the troops for resistance. There she will try to rally anyone she can.

Meanwhile on notquiteaplace secondus, another Island a large fleet is trying to escape bloacvkad eand bring a few reinfrovcements to her. SAM system is basically covering the whole nation and air travel is ruled out nicely. Which means that ships are the only way between islands (litterally there are thousnads of sites across the nation, please dont laucnh any aircraft as they will suffer VERY heavy losses), however with the rest of the navy scattered or on Danne's side, unless the blockade is defeated the loyalists are scatterred and confused throughout the remaining islands....

Kirsty has requested aid, and that any of her troops ofund should join with any help.

Oh and the SAM system has shot on or two commercial jets down, these may contain your citizens if you want a reason to help me that isnt TBA related.

The sub continued forward. It was one of several in the scouting party. They had to find a suitable place to land and be able to bring in mroe troops.

At home the 1st corps of the 7th army (100,000) was preparing to leave.

OOC: It will get better as I go along and get a fell of what is happening. Where is the islabnd that is blockaded and where is an island I can easily free and use to bring in more soldiers.

Right, primus is the main battleground its central to my nation.

Secondarius is to the south and holds the blockaded fleet. Very few loyalists are present there.

Tertarius is fairly quiet as it is to the East and largely non militarised.

Quadrius is also quiet so far.

Pentarius has a large stranded loyalist contingent

Hexarius holds a large base. I havent reported on that but there is a lot of armour there. Infact I will post on that now. As these is a lot of conflict. The loyalist fleets are scattered at the moment. While the rebel ones are trying to find them, or blackading Lower Rochester. A lot of the fleets (ie attack specilaised ones and fats ones) are actually split down the middle and so the ships sit in port as the crews are divided.

IC:

On hexarius there had been petrol and fire for days.

From the East of the continent hundreds of NQP MBTs ploughed into eachother and an entire farming village had been flattened. Now all that remined were 300 tank hulls and mud. The loyalists had drwn a line and were defending fiercely, bombarding attackers and then as they drew close counterattacking with lines of fast tanks. The result was a stalemate. The rebels dared not attack, and neither did the loyalists. A few brigades of mechanised infantry sat by their respective lines and waited. Neither side had much fuel left as neither dared move for the fuel depot as it would mean being attacked to get there.

Infact among the wrecked tanks there was little movement. the soldiers were playing cards and trying to ignore the flies while the occassional shell hurled past or landed a few hundred metres away. There was little else to do.

Occ: Dude im just keepin it real for the moment this is a rapid responce force.
Also these are some of the best ships afloat at this moment in time the Tritons a revolutionary new weapons platform so watch out. Lol. Post our own loses ok?

Ic:
Admiral Robertson looked out across the fleet it was a fine sight. The fleet of Easy green had grown with its population and power to become its key fighting force outfitted with the latest tech and the finest crew around it was always a force to contend with. Many of the ships around him had been under his command before and he new the ships and the crews well, he knew their strengths their weaknesses.

He knew what lied ahead he was outnumbered but he trusted his men this could be done just with a lot of hard work.

Already 10 of the Astute Class Submarines and 2 of the Vanguard Class SSBNs had moved into an attack position of the enemy fleet. The Tritons, type 22s and 23s all readied to fire, each on going for blows to bring the battle efficiency of the enemy fleet to a minimum.
Sea king ASaC and type 45 destroyers already scanned the skies for enemy aircraft and missiles.

The fleet was ready each ship knew what to do. Robertson looked once more at the fleet around him he knew good men would die after his order but this had to be done. He look towards the chief weapons officer and nodded, that was all that was needed as he looked back to the fleet a stream of Harpoon missiles began to leave the fleet. He had never before ordered such a large scale first strike and even after all his experience at sea he was in awe at the sight.
The missiles sped towards their targets as a small group began to peel of the main fleet to harass the enemy.

Seven Tritons, 8 type 22s, 5 type 23s, 2 type 45s and 2 Hunt class mine sweepers headed for the fleet. They were to skirt round the enemy firing all the way trying to draw the fleet apart. If they did they would be easy prey for the subs and aircraft in the open waters.

The first Harpoons streaked over the subs as they began to fire their first salvos.
4 Astutes added to the surface strike by firing off a salvo of sub Harpoons before returning to add their own spearfish torpedoes to those already heading for a combination of surface targets and subs.

Occ: the damage this does is up to you. Everything here is possible by the way. Isn’t using dreadnoughts a bit off a bad idea in a modern conflict, the lack of speed and manoeuvrability would make them easy targets for anti ship missiles.
Anyway… let war commence. Gd luck oh if you want info on the ships I have ask ill give you the link
Notquiteaplace

OOC:Theres about four hundred ships in each fleet! (I have about ten fleets, which are on the whole smaller than these ones, these also inclde support vessels totalling about one hundred) Notquiteaplace ships are cutting edge too, but your men seemed to have timed things nicely....

IC: As the fleet fired their first salvo, almost as one, the enemy fleet began to respond. Over 1000 cruise missiles flew from the fleet as it began firing into the enemy, still way out of visual range, aimed 4 missiles per vessel at the corvettes and 6 per vessel at the enemy fleet's frigates, the missiles easily overwhelmed the sophisticated but thin defenses of the smaller ships. Many missiles were blown out the air and only half the salvo landed but it was more than enough.

The first strike would be decisive, as it had equalled the fleets up.

After a few seconds the enemy retaliation came slightly less well organised as it was not the first salvo of an ambush but the reacion of a fleet off guard.

It was still equal in size though. 1000 missiles rained accross various vessels. A damaged cruisers intercepted 8 missiles with its many SAM's and CIWS but the damage reduced the efficiency of the defence and a lone missile struck the gap in the hull, blowing second bulkhead out, and detonating some ammunition. A large hole appeared in the ship and it sank.

Admiral Lamb's vessel had over 20 incomings, the crew braced for impact. The SAMs flew out to meet the targets while CIWS tracked targets in vein, only needing to intercept a single missile after the defence system (OOC: litterally the focus of my naval research since my nation was founded) fired waves of SAMs into the incomings. Lamb grinned, the mighty flagship joining a more haphazard return volley.

Several smaller ships were destroyed and damaged, three firgates a destroyer and six corvettes were gutted while a dolphin clas cruiser sustained a large gash in the side of its hole.

As the ships closed to fire again they noticed less retunr fire than expected. There were explosions among the enemy fleet as several torpedos from an unknown enemy began striking the hull.

The fleets subs noticed that the enemy submarines had moved to intercept the new enemy. The fleet's nail class submarines moving to catch them in the rear, their small size and high speed allowing them close quickly, while seadragon submarines fired two of their topedos into the enemy vessels nearest the swarm.

As the nail class subs broke ahead to catch the enemy from behinfd the enemy were busy on the other side. Of the 20 nail clasa and 40 seadragon subs that they had, three nail and four seadragon had been holed by a surprise volley of torpedos, while one of the the mighty dragonfish class cruisers in the fleet was hit. Missiles rained down apon their mighty defences, already readya nd firing SAMS apon the target only one struck home, gutting an eagle class destroyer with a lucky hit.

(OOC: NQP ship defence includes several SAM batteries and CIWs. Obviously the number vaores from ship to ship. With a corvette its one SAM and no CIWS, with a kentish class dreadnought its about 10 SAM batteries and 4 CIWS)

IC:(Easy Green)

The huge fleet floudered and over 70 submarines swept fowards towards easy gree. Suddenly more torpedos struck them from the other side, sinking several while behind them more subs began pilimng torpedos into them.

THe rest of the fleets were a good distance apart, but closing. More missiles flew both ways accross the sky destroying another 5 loyalist corvettes and 3 frigates, as well as a single hawk destroyer and a dragonfish cruiser.

With the rebel frigates and corvettes destroyed the loyalist corvettes sped fowards to attack the enemy flagship, another kentish class dreadnought, while the main fleet began bombarding the enemy fleet with shells and more missiles.

Several rebel ships sank under fire from both directions and the rebel fleet turned its attention to the newcomers. 30 porcupine anti shipping missiles (slighty shorter range but better destructive power then the NQP standard AS missile) were targeted apon the enemy fleet. Evenly spread accross the frigates.

Several (about 20 roughly) torpedos were fired at the newcomer's subs before the submariens turned to face the NQP submarines.

Danne read the reports and browsed the photos. The sattelites had recorded it all and he wasnt pleased. As he browsed a large naval battle was turning against him, he still had a few vessels left that had completely obedient crews on but he would need those too.

A large Borman fleet was approaching the North coast, allies for the loyalists in those numbers could turn the war against him very quickly. He had already sent a division to redmound to detroy the opposition. A few hundred tanks and many infantry would wipe the defenders of the ancient walls quickly so Borman had no one left to help. Meanwhile he would try to destroy the Borman fleet before it landed. If Cox was dead the loyalists would quickly cave.

*****

Kirsty counted the incomings and what she had. Four complete mechanised infantry regiments, one SOC team and a couple of hundred tanks. The walls of Redmound still surrounded the town, there was little there but a mine and it had never grown past thirty five thousand. However a lot of the miners were strong and bored. She knew she could bolster her forces another thousand by calling the militia. She opened the weapons storage and began giving her trained troops anti tank and anto troops weapons, arming the militia with assault rifles and instructing them to man the walls. fourty tanks and one company equipped heavily with heavy weapons covered the gate for when it was breached. The ancient wood would splinter with one big shell and they knew they had to fight the majority of the enemy as they attempted to come through. Just inside the gate and two the side, several ranks of men with heavy weapons trained on the area by the opening sat.

The enemy were one hour away and the y sat and prayed.

Meanwhile a few miles North of the coast, thirty six corvettes, thirty frigates, fifteen eagle and sixteen hawk class destroyers, a mix of Dragonfish cruisers, numbering ten and five dolphins class cruisers sped for the borman fleet, below them ten seadragon subs glided through the water....

OOC: oh yes, easy green, dreadnoughts are an old idea, but these are basically oversized cruisers, they are smaller than an aircraft carrier, but are the most powerful NQP vessel. As this is a defensive fleet rather than an attack one, they will have the advantage of better intel and dont go too slowly anyway. As such they are ideal. Attacking fleets use them sparingly though. They are much more of an aircraft carrier and supply boat protector or land assault support vessel than a ship hunter, however their prowess mean that while they arent good at hunting other fleets they can stop other fleets hunting theirs.

They are basically defended heavily (lots of SAMS and a few CIWS), and designed wih the same multi bulkhead hull that all ships of destroyer and larger size have, to reduce missile damage, and are devoid of useless belts of heavy armour as missiles will go through anyway.

OOC: one, its no small fleet, but its not a gigantic one either.

two, other than above, for a naval nation with tonnes of research I rarely get into a fight so this is pretty mucha first.

Three, yeah as for air, your people do know about the air defense, Kyou would have been warned by president Cox.

Im going to make what would be a desparate move, its not nice or pleasant, but dont take it personnally, I hope for both our sakes your personnel carriers have a few anti missile systems, as they will lower the casualties.

IC:

Danne read the next report, he realised it was desparate. He sat in the presidents office and worked for hours and now this? He tore the report into shreds.

"damn it, they will outrun our main fleet, have the frigates and corvettes break and fire missiles at the transports as soon as they are in missile range."

The aide looked nervously, "but sir wont that be risky sending only the weakest ships in"
"the other wont make it, its for the good of the people that we minimize the enemy force. Reduce their numbers by sinking a few"
"Of course you are right, sir will do at once."
The aide ran to the intellegence room down the corridoor and made sure that it was done as quickly as possible,

The corvettes and frigates accelerated ahead, and while the enemy fleet arced ahead round they were moving both faster, and had less distance to go.

As they approached range fifty missiles shot out to the enemy fleet.

They began programming the next attacks in unaware of how quickly they would probably die. The enemy retailitaliation would follow before they launched the second salvo, but they could probably launch it before they started getting hit.

"Bring the anti-missile defenses up on full. Hit down as many as possible."

Most of the missiles were destroyed before they could do damage, but they couldn't stop all of them. 5 managed to get through and hit carriers. on 2 carriers people were fighitng to put out fires and repair damage. A third was slowly going to the bottom. All of the carriers planes took off and began to fly to the enmy ships, hopefull a couple could get through.

Submarines opened up with a multitude of torpedos and missiles, the hulls of the corvettes and frigated were taqrgeted.

Battleships began to sail into range and open up on the ships.

But the main obstacle would be the 50 missiles that took off for the ships.

Then HOP came to life as the aquatic station rose to firing depth. 10 long range cruise missiles shot out for the corvettes and frigates.

The rest of the navy was catching up with the scouting force in time to see the attack. They wouldn't make it in time to help with the first retalliation, but they would be there for the second.

(OOC: most anti shipping missiles can be replaced with cruise ones, to the best of my knowledge, they are about the same size, but anti shipping ones have a rnage that is about 10-20% of a tomahawk and a lot more power. Our larger ships carry a few "porcupines" which go a little less even than that and usurprisingly are not nice to be hit with.

IC: With a few troop carriers neutralised the crews of the small vessels cheered. then the radar lit up with missiles. The air defences of their ships were extemely advanced, firing a missile at each incoming SAM and locking a second before the first hit firing it if it did.

However these were also small vessels with one or two SAM launchers, not the huge cruisers with launchers accross their hulls like most vessels would have CIWS. Many vessels were intercepted, but several corvettes were sunk instantly, a frigate was hit and began sinking while a second was hit right by a magazine, and without the superior design of its larger cousins was scattered accross an area with a diameter of a hundred or so metres.

The main fleet sailed to catch up as it went to meet the Borman vessels. But already causalities were filtering through. The remining 28 frigates and 30 corvettes fired again, while hoping that reinforcements would arrive.

As the first few Borman ships approached land each ship was targetted by the NQP SAM net. Missiles, designed for anti missile or air craft use shot towrds their targets. Two per craft.

(OOC: I hope you have a few countermeasures on those planes. This system was designed to track missile so aircraft arent a problem to hit.... Its application was broadened to save money and make the nation harder to defend. But as it is Anti missile, if you fire countermeausres and try to land as soon as you reach land one in ten planes might get through. If it were a missile id give em one in 10000 ish. (the system also has a few SDI sattleites and tracking sattelites integrated into it... Ive never used it before(except testing), which is a good thing, but it has been my research baby since my nation was 5 million, and has the best features of many existing system, as well as its sattelite "eyes" which allow it to track missiles much more reliably and accurate as they work with the radar)... wait til you see the new ideaI have for improved naval warfare ranges. Its going to be frightening, but easily MT able...)

OCC: yo peeps watch out easy green is back.. and yes he likes useing his navy and he knows what hes on about..lol
Ok no offence prowess but me and NQP are billlion pluss and this may be a bit outa your league but if you wanna join in go for itll be good RP experience.
You cant use cruise missiles to hit ships. a cruise is designed to hit a stationary target like a building not something movein like a ship. their programmed to follow the terrain hence over sea they would go in a straight line and get raped. neway

IC: the Easy green fleet had lost 2 type 22s and a type 23 with another 3 ships damaged, Admiral Robertson looked out across the fleet he knew that he could easly beat the fleet if he could stretch it out.

Already is subs had repositionned ready to strike again along with the small fleet he had sent out in the last ingagement to try and draw the NQP fleet apart. The next blow would have to be a decisive one but he couldnt do that without air power.

He had to remove the sam systems but the bunker was tough to be cracked by the tomahawk missiles he had there was thing he could do but it would be risky it would involve sending marines in chinooks under radar level to the bunker itself to take it out, but to keep under the radar cover would take an enourmouse amount of skill and the actual bunker take over would take more skill than that.

He looked around him the bridge of the ship containned the names of all those who had captained her and the comander of the marine forces with the fleet, as he glanced across the walls it hit him, one name stood out to him,
"whisky" he quietly said the name whislt smileing. Whisky was a lengend in the armed forces he was well known for his spec op missions with the Charlatain Blade (A guy from another nation i know)
He would lead the raid, Robertson had complete faith in whisky and so did the men it all rested on him now.

OOC: yes prowess you can join, but you will need to RP getting in, if you dont declre who you are working for and just start shooting rebels your team could be very useful for intel missions if Kirsty's force in land can counter attack.

Sadly the SAM system shoots down missiles better than aircraft. I mean, much better too. Its also placed in the bunker in the middle of a city which is semi fortified. You could probably get to the bunker, but getting in would be difficult. As if you read the research posts, you can guess what is gaurding it. Once captured Kirsty can just set it back to normal (missile defence and asking for permission to attack anything that isnt fired inside the the state from an unknown source)

My ships would easily crush your small fleet. Mine are state of the art too. But they are facing a force that is about 98% their size and were surprised once before you turned up and you surprised them again with a surgically precise strike. I mean Id be sending five to eight hundred missiles per slavo if the fleet wasnt in total dissarray. Its already split fighting on two sides.

IC:

The rebel fleet was split and losing many casualites, out numbered and outpowered only by a small amount though it fought on still.

Focusing its missiles on two of the more active targets from the easy green force 40 missiles were sent at each that would be a threat to all but a floating fortress like a cruiser. But it was a desparate shot in an attempt to buy time.

Meanwhile they sent more missiles into the exchange with the loyalists. Sinking two dragonfish cruisers and an eagle class destroyer. The loyalist return fire was more telling and several shots landed on another cruiser, the rebel flagship was suddenly attacked from the smaller vessels which had split nwith the fleet. the new vector threw the rebels further for a few seconds and as the ship;'s defenses thinned the missiles, the crew still knew to brace. A single missile hit blowing two SAM units and a missile rack off the ship as well as several men, all thrown like toys by the surprise attack.

Meanwhile far below the submarines darted and jinked, two loyalists were hit and destroyed by a rebel seadragon's more powerful weapons before it too was destoyed. The wreckage was beginning to accrue on the sea bed and each side losta further two seadragons, the loyalists losing one to an anti sub rocket at it fired four torpedos into the destoryer which fired it....
But still in continued, huge black minniw like nail subs darting between the more powerful but slower seadragons and explosions making no vessel at all stealthy.

*********

In redmound the enemy had been sighted. Kirsty was surprised. For now it was a smaller force than she thought, but it still outnumbered her volunteer enhanced little militia. A huge column of mechanised infantry and tanks could be seen on the horizon. Every warrior checked their weapons and prayed.

Soon the firing began, her artillery responding to sightings, several huge shells lanbding among the column, while enmy missiles crashed into the ruins blowing a one hundred metre hole in the wall. Stone and bodies were showered around but the reserves and a few tanks filled the gaps and waited for the enemy to close...

Soon the tanks were in range, the enemy moved faster firing shells into the wall and loyalist tanks. Stone and the odd soldier near the blast were scattered, several shells destroying houses. A few tanks were hit too, three MBTs and a light tank hit as the enemy approached but not without hitting them back.

Soon the APCs drew nearer, and as the enemy became distinguishable target armour piercing missiles streaked towards tanks and APC's largely doing little more than shaking the tanks, several APCs were pierced before the fuel exploded turning some passengers, not fortunate enough to be clear into charred corpses.

At 600m the enemy disembarked from their vehicles while enmy tanks began closing. Firing shots into the walls and making large dents, but failing to pierce through the eight metre stone curtains. As they drew up to the gates all hell broke loose, as hundreds of armour piercing missiles fired from near the gate balsted into their sides, destroying dozens of tanks and leaving the rebel armour in numbering ten MBTs.

One huge armoured behemoth fired a shell and the door opened, several shells burst out decimating the last tanks, but now eight thousand men ran through the gap while another three thousand began climbing the walls. Assault rifles from both sides claimed hundreds of lives in the first second and corpes fell from the walls, while below men clambered over carpets of bodies.

Man portable 20mm cannon began to cut through the men like butter. And in the main door despite the sheer firepower hundreds of enemy were engaged in melee with the loyalists. Former comrades now locked in mortal combat would decide the fate of a nation. The tanks unable to intervene at that range and weak against the enemy while they were so close, retreated. Still the men struggled holding bayonets to each other's faces and throats...

On the wall the well prepared defense held against what amounted to a mad rush. The last few wall assailants despatched, the wall defenders ran to the melee.....

.....

Kirsty gave the speech, little over one thousand men remained, and a few tank screws. This had been the bloodiest battle on Notquiteaplace soil ever and through attrition.

"Danne will stop at nothing to stop us. That is why we must overthrow him and restore democracy. Attrition is not an acceptable tactic in war with our soldiers. He could have flattened us, but due to his arrogance and our calm we won. We musgather friends and leave this town."

She looked at the ruins of the town, it would never be the same again. The population had hidden in the centre in the thick walled buildings, but still thousands were dead, houses gone and huge sections of wall just missing.

"All of our nation will look like this if we do not strike soon. Rumours of reinforcements are spreading. Lets hope they can meet us as we gather forces at notquiteaplace. Once we get an army togetherm we shall attack him. Cleverly and quickly, with precise, methodical strikes and minimal losses. The Notquiteaplace way."

Several men cheered but most were too numb to talk.

They fled the town and rested a few miles south. Kirsty headed towards the only base on primarius that was staffed with men who hadnt been serviced by division one. Hopefully a full division would await her there.... The army moved on.

As night fell the decks of the carrier EGS Joint was a hub of activity as me began to embark the 4 chinooks sat on the deck, a lone figure stood away from the action looking to the land, another figure walked to his side and stood there a while before speaking.

"This is it whisky, we cant finish off that fleet without airsupport they know it just as well as we do so their gonna throw their all at defending the bunker."

Whisky just nodded a carried on standing in silence for a little longer before he spoke

"You know in reality this is near on suicide?, Their gonna have some big shit in there of the best quality but leave it to me and the boys we'll sort it."

OOC:I wouldnt worry about finishing them off. If you disable the defences thier carriers with a large air wing between them could flatten. YOu also have my fleet there. Just keep hammering them, if you can do anything harsh enough they might surrender.

As for the big attack, your probably better off landing and presenting your men to the presdient, I think she could have a less suicidal role for you than attacking a company of heavy power armoured soldiers. And one that could be extremely useful. A strong round force will be more useful. Especially as the loyalist fleet has a few thousand men with it too.

I'll do a proper reply and continuation later.

OOC: no, some of the rebels are commies, but then some are capitalists and some are liberals and so on, but basically hes a mad genius type. Not the sort any self respecting democracy would ever want.

Oh and Im waiting for your response Borman, your fleet landing at near my capital at the time I make the attack would be desirable, so please respond to my attacks. Kick some rebel arse please.

IC: Between the two notquiteaplace fleets the sky was still thick with missiles both SAMs and offensive cruise missiles streaked accross. Suddenly Lamb's flagship began firing, as the fleets had closed, it was now in cannon range.

Huge shells from the cruisers began falling on the weaker armoured destroyers of the rebel fleet, while the rebels turneed their guns to where the smaller vessels lay. Huge splahes tore the water up, but each ship only had a couple of guns and the fire only added confusion to the already chaotic fight.

The loyalist fleet began targeting the largest ships in the enemy fleet in an attempt to be able to overwhelm, over fofty missiles streaked to enemies flagship alone, and the rest were spread accross the two nearest cruisers. Explosions punctured their hulls and the might dragonfish flagship was split into two.

Suddenly the call came.

"this is Danne's first fleet, second in command, Rear admiral Rillian speaking. We surrender, now, we will abandon our ships and head for land, throwing anchor here. I am loyal to Danne, but I will not see any more of my people killed."

Lamb thought hard as the whole fleet cheered.

It could be a trick and they could return. The fleet would rest there, guarded by a few of his vessels, so they could neutralise any resistance. The enemy could possibly muster a few ships and attack, but it was a risk he had to take. He needed to get his men to South Primus, it was still a few hours travel though.

As he thought dozens of hidden smaller loyalist vessels, gunboats and corvettes from the patrol fleet began calling, they would join him.

He began giving orders to his men and they plotted a course North. He then made a transmission.

"Unknown allies, we thank you, when our country is liberated your efforts will be remembered and thanked properly. For now, we ask that you join us. It would be an honour to us to be joined by brave allies like you, and if you have any troops in those transports, they would be welcome....

President Cox gathered her forces or what was left and didnt head straight for the capital, instead, she followed a few rumours and old comms signals, hoping that whatever forces that they had come from a few days ago were still alive. OOC: well your navy could retreat then.

Anyway your ships wouldnt land at Redmound as its s few miles inland, but on arrival they received a comms message. I assume two ships is a couple of thousand men and a little armour. Your about 35 miles east of the capital in that case. I assume you have a few supplies, as I do have some but will have to meet you.

As for Easy Green, if your fleet joined me I assume you have followed me and set off when my fleet did. If not, its up to you.

IC:
Kirsty's force had spent two days evading rebel forces, it had gradually swollen to include 12 full mechanised infantry regiments, 2 battle tank regiments and 2 light tank ones, as well as a battallion of artillery and flak. They also had one special ops regiment. On hearing rumours of a Borman force they headed to where the Borman were.

After getting about 6 miles away Kirsty broke radio silence.

"this is Kirsty Cox of the notquiteaplace government. We hope you have come to our aid and have a plan for this nation's liberation. We request that we talk with your commander."

She then sat in her APC and awaited to arrive. Soon they drew close.

OCC: sorry i havent been around iv had loads to do.

IC: As darkness fell over the decks of the Easy Green carrier Baggie, the low thud or rotars began to fill the air as 4 chinooks began to rise off the decks of the carrier, as they did the sky behind them lit up as the frigates and subs of the easy green fleet began to lauch a barrage of tomahawk missiles towards SAM batteries throughout Notquiteaplace. Programmed to skim at low leavel across land many would get through not enough to really make a dent in the effectiveness of the SAM sites as a whole but it would be enough to make the chinooks mission that much easyer.

Robertson looked out from the deck of his flag ship as the chinooks began to faid into the distance, he knew the mission they had was a hard one but whisky was the best comander in the whole of Easy Green, their was no doubt in his mind that whisky was the man to do it.
The fleet began to swing into action already a force of 10 Triton, 12 type 22s, 8 type 23s, 2 type 45s and 2 astute subs were sailin to join the loyalist fleet. The rest began to prepare for a land assault, all round the fleet landing craft began to move into possition to move into land, already spec ops had been looking a landing spots up and down the coast until a sutible one had been found (Just name a place where i can land). now they just had to wait for the AA to go down then the F35s would be free to rain hell on the rebles from the air.

IC:
Of the mighty force of 90 planes that had headed for the loyalist soldiers, 9 remained. As they began to see a loyalist camp they came in for a landing.

The landing door of the ships opened as transports began to come out. This ships was one of the oldest and oldest technology, so losing it would not be horrible. Becuase of that only a few men remained to protect it.

OOC: If im right, last thing that happened was I launched tons of missiles at you. And my navy is not retreating.
Notquiteaplace
14-11-2004, 18:41
OOC: I retaliated but not very specifically, 90 missiles fired at your smaller ships, probably about 10 to a ship.

IC: As Kirsty's forces approached the Borman landing fleet they saw several explosions overhead, dozens of missiles streaked up and hit several aircraft above them, blowing the cumber some brutes apart. However a few landed safely, behind her.

"More Borman" she though, "this is good news

OOC: post your response to Kirsty approaching with her force, bearing in mind she did tell you why shes coming in my last post and who she is, and that she wanted to talk... some conversation between our people would be nice, perhaps her explaining and your lot agreeing on her plan. OOC: 10 to a ship and 90 missiles arn't equal. Ill go with 90.

IC: The guns of a battleships blazed as they watched enemy boats sink, then missiles defences fired as the men on the ship looked around.

Around a score of missiles had made it through, and several were heading for the battleship. Men began to fire the guns at the missiles in an attempt to destroy them. One missile was hi8t and faltered. People were about to celebrate, then they realized it faltered so it could drop.

The hull of the ship was ripped as more missiles streamed in over head. 1 battleship was sunk, 1 carrier(That was working on repairing past destruction) was hit, and two corvettes were sinking.

Total losses
1 carrier sunk
3 carriers damaged
1 battleship sunk
2 corvettes sinking
1 frigate w/ minor damage

100 missiles sai9led from the ships, they wanted to end it now. The aquatic launch station shot off 10 more. And orbital platforms launched 30 more. The ships also began to come in range of heavy damage from guns. And when they did the guns on the ships began to open fire. As their missiles closed in it was realized that any more missile conflict would result in casualties on both sides.

((OOC: Basically the ships are too close to do more missile attacks, the explosions would probably hit parts of the attacker's fleet.))

The men unloaded from the 9 planes, they were in no condition to fly and would nto be able to make it out alive. 18 men all told. Then the transports came to land as men began to come off. 5,000 Dinosaurs, the best soldiers you could find. (Just names, not actual dinosaurs) With them came 300 BMTs and 100 Bhalk 34s.

As supplies began to unload a small force of a score of BMTs approached the loyalist encampment.

As the men unloaded and began to strike diolauge with the loyalist men the leader of teh force went to meet with Kirsty.

"Hello. Im general Horge Kaolonivich. The rest of our navy that has been dispatched is fighting with rebel soldiers. If and when they win they should be able to unload many more men."

The easy green fleet openned up again with another salvo of missles at the enemy fleet this time programmed for a different mission, the missiles would fly in about 6ft above the water as they aproched the biggest ships in the reble fleet.
As the missiles got to within 300 meters they would skip up to above deck high their aim was simple to blow the tops of the ships to pieces. (the hulls on larger ships have to much armour hence missiles have no effect)

Over land the 4 chinooks hugged the ground just under radar level, more would have been sent but it was felt more than 4 would be to much of a risk as they could present a larger radar target.
The bunker came into view of the first chinook whisky was there looking at it. he bowed his head and prayed as he always did, as he did thre was huge increase in noise at first he though it was the chinooks engines that had died but when he looked out the window streams of missiles screamed past, the fleet had let of a strike to soften up the bunkers outer defences for the men whisky smilled, maybe things might be ok

OOC: Well Borman what I mean is that 9 of your smallest ships were hit. Or shot at, if you have defenses they might not all be hit. Hell if those had gone for my bigger ships in my fleet that would have been 0 hits.

IC: (at Borman) The missile exploded decimating the fleet, the few reamining vessels were left in dissarray and while the main fleet would arrive in minutes, with troops landed and the smaller ships all but lost, the main fleet turned round and fled.

Meanwhile Kirsty approached the general, "My thanks for your help, we wish to keep casualties down as we belive that when the general is killed the troops will stop fighting, as they are loyal to him and that is their motivation."

She showed him the documents that showed how the men had been brainwashed and continued after he had time to read them.
"We have to attack his base at the capital, we believe we will be facing well equipped enemy. Quite possibly in powered armour. There are 2 varieties present, standard combat armour which is extremely resistant to bullets. Infact excepting the eyes and joints its pretty much bullet proof. ANd battlesuits which vary from entirely bullet proofed, to resistant to small cannon depending on the size. They were a project of ours, the power armour designed to be worn by all infantry in standard ops, while the battlesuits were for fire support and removal of other powered armour."
Seeing his disbelief "its the cutting edge of modern technology, and we have been refining it for well over a decade. Most nations with a enough patience and a large enough research budget, and a good grasp of IT could manage them"
She paused for effect, "but the software part is a real problem, which is why most nations dont bother. They also need a lot of support, and so result in a reduction in army size. We believe that the suits will be more combat effective in absoloute terms than the infantry we would have used instead. Though they will require better logistics. We will increase support for logistics, by as much as 50% at the end of this war."
She paused and solemny continued. "Its accelerated our armed force reform and retiring of forces in the most unpleasant way possible."

"When you are ready, we should head to the capital. I wish for this to be a quick and clean war with minimal damage, we have already lost too many good citizens to the tyrant Danne"

OOC: I explained armour and battlesuits as they will be present in the city. They will make very light work of basic infantry or any sort.

Oh and easy green, they surrendered and abandoned ship, leaving a fewe NQP loyalist ships to guard them and make sur ethey dont try to take the now anchored ships back when no one is looking.

The Notquiteaplace and Easy Green Fleets headed for the nearest Port on the South of Primus, it was, Deal a small town port with a moderately sized ferry terminal and it would take a few hours to unload everything, but it was only 160 miles away from the capital, South and slightly West of it.

The notquiteaplace forces unloaded several hundred trucks and a few dozen APCs and waited for Easy green to deploy. The Colonel of the mechanised regiment waited for someone important from Easy Green to disembark. While the notquiteaplace forces gathered into a roughly even travelling column.

Occ: well here we go tis time for the land war... letrs rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ic: Back at The United States of Easy Green

The news of the victory over the reble fleet had reached home and had caused a new hub of activity, in all the millitary ports in Easy Green men and machines were being loaded up in the final stages of what was now called Operation Heavy load. (this was due to the mass armour being sent to notquiteaplace) There was no threat of any enemy action now so there was no need for a large convoy so ships set off as they were loaded.
In all a force of nearly 800,00 men would be moved to notquiteaplace along with and extra 12000 MBTs and 20000 warrior tracked support vehicles.

Robertson came ashore amongst the mass of troops and tanks moveing onto the newley established beach head, soon he had been directed to a building being used as a make shift base of command where he met Colonel Aspius.
"well we finaly meet i trust you r well."

THe colonel looked thoughtful.

"Im not so sure. While the president is alive protecting her is our main objective. A huge borman fleet has met her and reinforced her Just East of the city and I dont doubt she will move in.

I propose we take the advance force and reinforce her position. 800000 troops will flatten our capital city and kill hundreds if thousands of our people. Ms Cox is a very talented leader, she is the most popular prime minister so far, and I joke not, she had kept our nation rich and well looked after. She will organise a surgical strike, probably to disable the SAM site first, then our air force, who are mostly loyal can precision bomb the defense before our forces move in.

What we need is a fast force. There wont be more than a few tens of thousands of enemy there, and we have a little surprise for them."

He gestured to a truck. Inside sat ten men in infantry uniforms, 5 technicians and 3 mechanics. Behind them stood 10 tall man shaped objects.

"Battlesuits. You see the commander of their regiment told me that Danne has some, he thinks he has them all, but as a safety precaution there were two projects, running parallel, the whole thing was compartmentalised so scientists thoughs they were getting data from elsewhere on one site but were often getting it from one on another island. That was Ms Cox's Idea too apparently. Anyway, they require a lot of logistic support but carry more firepower and armour than 5 normal soldiers.

Those are battlesuits, they are resistant to small cannon and carry specially designed anti armour weapons. They are also about $5million each. And require a lot of maintenance, but when used in combination with powered armour..."
He gestured to an APC by which four men sat round in metallic combat armour that seemed to bulky to move without some sort of help.
"That moves like an unencumbered person, you have a deadly combination, normal troops that while less in number will be able to deflect large numbers of bullets, and heavier support troops who can deal with enemy special force, armour and so on, the largest suits mount racks of anti tank missiles, I mean ones that arent man portable. Its a shame none were made yet. They were too expensive and risky if the normal suits didnt work. To be honest this will be their first real trial outside of the research bases."

"We cant flatten the city and when the battlesuits turn up 800000 men will be unable to get their numbers of heavy weapons to bear, while the armour will slaughter them. Wed win but at a cost that I dont want to have to pay. A small force to strike before the fortifications are done, would be a cleaner and less bloody route. Every casualty we avoid is good."
He pased for effect.
"If you have men with slug firing shotguns they would be perfect for the personnel armour and lighter suits. They might be useless on open land, but in urban war short range is almost the only condition you will be guaranteed to face."
He waited for the Easy green response.

OOC: plus a close fought battle will be more fun. The armour is designed so as not to godmode, its very expensive and I will sacrifice numbers when I implement it, but in urban conditions it would dominate. Though troops can still ambush it or bombard it and use anti tank missiles, which even against the heaviest suits will go through one side and out the other! Afterall they are still infantry... Shotguns firing shells might work against the powered armour and light battlesuits. Though they would be uselessa at long range and lack the power of an assault rifle... this isnt open war.

The men on the ships jumped up and down celebrating at the first major naval battle ever won by Borman. Then they began to sail to land and unload soldiers. In a short time all would be unloaded and including the men and supplies already on, 100,000 men would be there.

Total Borman military
50,000 Army soldiers
50,000 Dinosaurs (Elite army)
5,000 BMTs
5,000 Bhalks
2,500 Howitzers
2,500 M270s
1,000 portable SAM batteries

On the land.
"Well, I think we can combat these suits. If you havn't noticed..wel..I don't know how to say this. Ah, a couple of years ago a game came out called 'Halo'. In it was a man named master chief with MJOLNIR armor. Our soldiers are equipped with that, or at least something like it. It is called SACS. Dinosaurs have camoflauge built in, but its not 100% trustworthy."

OOC: That pretty much describes it. There are trustworthy ones, but they go to the raptors. Elite 'non-existant' branch of Dinosaurs that performs special missions.

OOC: Our armour is nothing like as sophisticated, the smaller suits are about as mobile, the bigger ones arent but mount bigger guns.

I assume your suits have some improvement but are like this.

IC:

Kirsty blushed..."Well, secret developement and all that. Our powered armour has different roles, and needs a lot of tech support. Its not much use behind enemy lines for long periods as its power supply only lasts upto a fortnight, less at full output. And the larger suits need quite a lot of maintenance. If they are looked after they are very reliable, but right now they need looking after."

"Anyway, I propose we strike the East of the city and power the SAM system down. Then we call the airforce in and allow them to do recon. I believe he has fortified the presidential house a lot, and its surrouding area. We need to blow a hole in the defence and be ready to move in as soon as the hole is open. Then, find and kill him."
She paused allowing this to sink in,
"The first stage will be bloody but if we take the shortest route I expect heavy resistance, I have figured out a different route. Its about five miles in so we want our light tanks in for the first two miles. After that taking tanks in isnt a problem. We will need to draw the enemy onto a trap using your men as bait and a large group of anti tank weapons as the trap. Once we have created a weakness we will need to equip some SOC teams with shotguns and they can go in with your men into the bunker. Iexpect heavy resistance there. Once in we will transmit the team the code and they can restore the system. With the aircraft called in we can clear a path and I can go to the bunker and change the codes so its safe to leave... Then we wait for the air force to do its job and attack."
She waited for the response.

The forces of Easy Green have fought in urban combat before and in a major city like the one they face infantary wouldnt last 5 seconds, the only place they could do damage is in built up housein areas but in the areas of wide roads they would have problems against these battle suits.
Robertson looked once more at these pieces if hardwear, the idear had been played with in Easy Green but the end result was tanks were the order of the day they carried more armour more speed and in most cases more firepower a 120mm challenger round would blow any piece of armour to pieces for that matter the 30mm cannon on his warriors could to.
The colonel was right in one respect civilian casualties could be high but he had to think about his men first.
"Im sorry colonel but i cant risk my men i have no air support as yet and in my view not enough armour to protect my men, im sorry but i have to think of their saftey first, itsmy suggestion we wait for the extra men and make a decisive strike then.

At the SAM bunker:
The 4 chinooks swung over the main bunker entrance as men began to zi[p down from the rear doors smoke granades provided added cover to the surprise attack. The outer guards were swiftly taken out as the men moved forward to the main door, whisky walked up to it and tapped it.
"Hmm solid blast door.... only one thing to do here"
he waved to the single chinook still in position and a large black object was lovered from it, 8 men ran it over to whisky and rested it on the door.
"Right everyone you know what to do... now do it"
The men all ran in different directions away fro the door as whisky keyed in a code..... then ran
The shapped charge ripped a hole in the door big enough for an APC, the blast sending the rest of the door flying down the corridor, whisky walked in with a smile.
"I love that key i really do"

OOC: Easy Green I hate to say it but those helicopters wouldnt have gone more than five miles accross my country before separating into little bits.

Theyd be better off scouting the city out dressed as NQP warriors taking phots so you can help us find out the patrol routes and defenses.

If you are still storming the bunker, say by strolling into the city you could assume you arrive a couple of hours before my forces. In which case I''ll RP some defense.

IC: "That is fair enough, though armour will pretty useless in the centre of the city anyway, 30mm man portable cannon would be ideal however. As long as you arent too far away you should penetrate armour pretty quickly with them."

"If we would load jeeps up with those weapons perhaps we could storm the bunker in minutes giving little chance for a proper defense. What we need is some to find the quickest and least dangerous way in."

He gestured to a SOC team standing nearby, any elite commandos like this could put on NQP uniform and scout it out. Anyway rumours are that there is large force gathered North of Here headed for the city. If that includes our leader, I must go now and take my forces. Perhaps you could just follow us to the city in case we meet any resistance."

IC: Borman: Thankyou General, its pretty open from here, we are North of the jungle, so we can head there and arrive in a couple of hours. Have every man check his equipment and make sure you have all the supplies we need. Then we move."

She gestured to the city, a small clump of the jungle sat there. When they passed that in five miles the city would be visible.

OOC: My paint skills are useless etc, but the armiesare only heading 35 miles to the city. They go slightly off course to avoid a small patch of jungle and then its open plains to the city.

IC: The convoy prepared and began moving for the capital city. With the rebel forces unable to reinforce their position with reinforcements they had gathered at the city, knowing of what would happen. Danne lay in wait for the enemy and continued fortifying his position, it wouldnt be hard to predict what the enemy would do.

OOC: I'll wait for the easy gren response before posting any further, but consider that the defense has sattelites covering it as well as radar. If you can sneak past it, however the RP it and I will continued (use a flashback).

OOC: Yeah Borman if you want.

Easy Green, but there are sattelite scanning on a variety of sepctrums and forms too, which arent fooled by low units. However we will assume you got your unit in safely. Because while it isnt necessary to crack a nut woith a sledgehammer. Tweezers dont work...

IC: Alarms rang through the bunker and the unit ran to the breach, 5 soldiers in powered armour (not the battlesuits) arrived on scene first. The bungled straight into the commandos unaware, giving the attackers a precious two or three seconds to react.

A few metres behind them three suits of heavy armour carrieed their wearers towards the enemy. There were the slowest and bulkiets suits but also the heaviest.

OOC: You have a chance here to react, but if you dont get it right, its your men not mine... As for the heavy suits, they will be more trouble. Unlike the powered armour they are bullet proof all over and might reisist grenades pretty well too.

These are pretty much anti infantry units you are facing though...

Occ:Dude spec ops thats all i have to say, if i was to throw hundereds of men down small corridors in a bunker it would be a blood bath. the best weapon these guys have is their skill and and some 66 launchers.
Ic: The 5 suits of powered armour were met by a heavy barrage of fire, includeing M203 rounds which blasted one piece of armour before it even knew what was going on.

Whisky looked to his 2IC, his fears were well placed, they have heavy kit here. The force had a few 66 launchers with them but not nearly enough they would have to rely on some other method once they had used all their 66's.

The men on the outside wall suddley got up and run, much to whiskys anoyance.

"Get your arses back in position you fuckin idiots"

"Fuck that they have battle armour type stuff"

whisky looked even more worried now, the 66 launchers would work but he didnt know how well.

"everyone fall back to the entrance and get ready with some 66's and some nades and.... fuck it just fire what you can at those bloody things, Johnson chuck me a 66"

A 66 promptley found itself flying through the air to whiskys hand. he knelt in the centre of the corridor, he had one thing in mind he had to play on the armours lack of manouverability his plane, take down the first piece of armour so the others had something to go round which would slow them up makein them easyer targets.
the first suit came into view, thundering round the corrner, whisky let the 66 fly......

IC: both forces headed for the city, Kirsty's force were nearer and made good time, soon they were in sight. The forces stopped, readied the tanks and then fifteen miles from the city began driving towards it.

Meanwhile the other force was still one hour from the city. The huge column was headed at the city very quickly, like an almost endless line from the sky as it went up the main motorway from the coast.

Inside the bunker, the rocket hit home, shattering the armour of the suits effortlessly, however one missed the wearer, as the the suit, even at that range wasnt much easier a target than any other infantry. He ducked and began firing his assault rifle apon the commandos. It was more a case of "Pray and spray" than well aimed however. His nerves were somewhat shattered by the splinters and shreds of his squad covering him.

Two heavy battlesuits ran round the corner, these were larger and slower. They stopped for a second and raised 30mm cannon to the targets. They werent so much man shaped as the armour, but more humanoid and cast in metal. Two large weapons were mounted on their sides.

(OOC: Im making this easy so far as your commandos are elite and fast, normal troops would have missed more suits and I would have fired some 30mm shells already as normal troops wouldnt be as quick to react to me.)

OOC: Im really confused. What the heck are these suits? I know you explained. But I dont get it.
Notquiteaplace
21-11-2004, 14:11
OO: Battlesuits are basically powered armour that totally encases the wearer. They mount larger weapons and can resist most smaller weapons. They are very expensive and require a fair amount of maintenance, but they mount powerful weapons and can withstand more than any human could unarmoured. THey vary from slightly larger and tougher weighing maybe 350Kg and better armed than men to almost 3 metres incapable of running faster than 9.5 kph and carrying two heavy weapons weighing something over a ton. Their role is to remove enemy power armour and infantry, though they can carry anti tank missiles and SAMS. There will be one larger slower version made too with much better weapons, but these will basically be fire support platforms that walk.

Powered armour troops as opposed to battlesuits are not totally bullet proof even, with weak spots on the joints and eyeslits. They are basically as mobile as a man, only slightly larger (In their armour) and are a lot cheaper than battlesuits. Their armour would give them resistance to non bullet wepons, but its really just designed to protect them from standard anti infantry weapons. These will be our standard troops in the future, as aside from cost and slightly more maintenece they are as useful as standard infantry and much tougher.

The larger suits will be used more sparingly. But basically power armoured troops are basically very well armoured infantry while battlesuits are a still technicaly infantry they are considerably more powerful, but with larger trade offs like numbers (ie cost and maintenance) and speed.

OOC: Bear in mind you are attacking the bunker easy green is attacking at the moment too.... You could sneak into the city and then into the bunker.

This description is useful to both you and EG and IC you would know it as you would be given it on request. However it will be changed later as foreign nationals and lots of random passers by now know about it.

Right, there is a large hole in the wall, this is where an embattled spec ops team are fighting some rebel armour, there is a corner ahead, which turns left, it leads down a corridoor, there are a few doors on either side these go into various barrack and storage areas, nothing relevant to the mission, there are a load of sleeping, awake and armed marines in there who may or may not get involved depending how quickly you move.

AT the end of said corridoor is a door. Its blast resistant and tough. The code has been changed by Danne, its electronic. You would have known that there was possibility of it being changed.

Through the door is another corridoor, more guards patrol here. It just leads into four rooms all joined together, the one nearest the coridoor is the NorthWest Room, the South East one has the computer. The codes for this are unchanged. THe other rooms hold, well probablly some more guards, some military personnel, some securiyt personnel, who are probably working against their own will. THey would be watching the system and making sure it does everything right, suggesting new code for the software, making decisions etc. They will be in the other two rooms with loads of screens showing various radar and sattelite feeds. Or more accurately feeds made from several sources each. As well as data. Try not to break anything....

OOC: Right, thanks. So, NQP, can you answer my question about the hole?
Notquiteaplace
24-11-2004, 13:30
OOC: THe hole was blown by the EG men, I assumed their intel is good and they blew it pretty close to theend of the corridoor. Obviously the bunker has four sides, but due to design the hole was blown where the least coridoor walking was required by the EG men. Your men could have ridden apc to the capital then walked in camo mode ton the bunker un noticed, as camo would probably not be spotted by normal civilians who werent expecting anything, but with the bunker under seige you arent going to be able to get more than the element of surprise at this stage.

As your men walk in, a couple fo units of infantry are attacking a few power armoured men and a

EG: You cant have 225 men there, a force that big would be spotted optically and heard, even above NQP city at night. You might have 40 men, but with the right equipment, tactics and reinforcements from Borman it should be more than enough.

Look a few posts up, I did post casualties and reacted with the couple of remaining suits.

I do realise my tech borders of FT, but it has its limits and number problems.(ie less men when I fully implement it and my engineers and paratroopers will still be unarmoured) Its also far from indestructible. If your men have shotguns which fire slod slugs they would probably be enough for all but the heaviest suits anyway. I mean theyd be useless at any range, but this is close quarter fighting. Every troop type has its weakness and mine are included in that.
Easy green

sorry did a miss could on the men, but still if i sent 4 chinooks in thast would still b 200 men plus, each one carries 56 men but ill lower the number of men to 150.

Ic: the heavy suits opend fire sending men flying, more 66's streaked down the corridor some better aimed than others, whisky rolled into a small alcove after his first 66 shot, he took out a flash bang and a smoke nade and launched them down the corridor. He did stay out for long enough to see the effects of the first rockets or his nades he had to just hope they had worked.

At the lead of the armoured push to the capital city Robertson looked out at the road ahead he was still an hr away if he kept up this pace, he had to get their quicker he had to get the lyalists the heavy support they needed.

"Sam, get on the blower to the 2nd and the 4th light armoured and tell them to off road it up their asap."

Within seconds scores of Warriors screached of the main road onto the open planes around it and headed straight for the capital. they could be there in about 45 minutes, but would they be enough support?
Notquiteaplace
27-11-2004, 14:00
OOC: Yes, you could send 4 chinooks, but getting one through our defense would be hard enough, 4 would get spotted easily.

This reaction should kill one or two fo your men, not much more, but if a 30mm shell hits on of your men, hes in a lot of trouble.

IC: The missiles hit the remaining power armoured suit and it exploded, while one of the battlesuits was hit three times and scattered into pieces as it turned the corner. THe other heavy suit however was only hit on the leg, the leg was crippled pretty much immobilising the suit, but the body not being hit, it was still operational. Knowing he was as good as dead, the piliot took aim and fired a short 30mm burst before more missiles hit it.

OOC:Borman, have you any electronic charges for the bunker? You could always stop and call base as Kirsty would probably have hacker or two who works with and therefore would know weaknesses of the system.

Meanwhile the Borman/NQP force was in sight of the city, a few tanks sat by the edge of the city had been waiting. One regiment (50 tanks) sat waiting and began firing 125mm shells at targets in the column. A NQP APC was hit and flipped, and a second has its tracks destroyed before the NQP tanks began firing back, the enemy werent moving and made easy targets for the range. Which was about 3 miles and closing rapidly. 12 Rebel tanks were hit and huge clouds of smoke indicated 8 had been destroyed.

To the south the Notquiteaplace and Easy Green forces were beginning to get radar readings on the battle and sensing the gap the notquiteaplace forces accelerated to get to the South of the city before the enemy could react.
Easy green

Im a bit confused on whats happenin in the bunker, out of the first units you sent at me how many are left?

Ic: The 2nd and the 4th light armoured roared towards the city to try and get there in time to offer support to the advancing NQP forces, soon the city was in view.
Smoke was rising of the wreaks of armoured vehicles, suddly the lead warrior oppended up at a reble Apc that had edged its way around a building it erupted into a ball of flames as 30mm cannon rounds tore into its side, as the armoured unit got closer the shape of the armoured push changed to provide optimum coverage and the ability to lay down as much fire as possible in the tighter confines of the city, as soon as they got a little way in the men of the 2nd and 4th would disembark and provide aditional cover
Notquiteaplace
28-11-2004, 16:24
OOC: Of the initial force there is nothing left now, but they did take some shots at you so you may have lost a man or two.

The sattelites allow optical recognition they merely enhance the clarity of the network. I agree, low flying chopper might get close in easily, but there are some anti aircraft guns installed around for this purpose at high importance military locations, like the bunker. If you flew a load of chinooks in it's safe to assume some would have been hit. I suppose if you sent four in two would probably still land their men.

Walking the men in or driving them in in a truck or even a camper van or two would have got you further!

Oh and Borman is presently trying to unlock the door at the far end of the corridoor. But doesnt have any electromagnetic lockpicks or the code. He could easily get loyalist staff members to hack the code for him, but he needs to make the call. There would be a few with Ms Cox.

IC: As the loyalists approached the city, both sides fire got more accurate with several immobilised rebel tanks there were more hits and kills and twelve more were blown apart. Another four APCs and a light tank were destroyed along with three MBTs by incoming fire.

Meanwhile just ahead of Easy Green the trucks from Lamb's fleet were driving down the highway and into the edge of the city as fast as possible, the centre was a good 5 miles away, they just hoped the distraction causd by Easy Green forces moving into the suburbs and their allies fighting by the border would buy them enough time to get in close and begin a frontal assault.

Inside the stream of trucks hundreds of power armoured troops sat ready for their first real op in their suits.

Occ:What did you say that dorr was made out of and how wide would you say the corridors are?

Ic: The forces of Easy green and the Borman Empire would have to wait till a loyalist member got to the bunkler before they could get the SAM sites down, this was not what whisky wanted hthe element of surprise was already gone they had to hit now otherwise they would be ready for them when they did get through the door, he had no direct link with the loyalists his most direct link was through the Borman Empire forces he now had to wait on them (Borman Empire its ur move on when you make the call for some loyalist help)

In the NQP capital the 2nd and 4th had moved into a small area of the city and were holding a small "bridge head" whilst they waited for the bulk of the force to arrive, John willis sat on his apc looking out to the horizon as slowly it began to fill with a think plume of dust as the armoured units of the Easy green force raced across country to help their allies.

Slowly the detail of the armour began to become visible, the 120mm guns on the challenger 2 swung from left to right checking the horizon for hostiles, as the force got closer it began to fan out in an awe inspireing spectical as the main body of the force readied to entre the city. the plan was to hit the most western tip of the city and for the first wave to push forwards to the other side to creat a large area of easy green controlled city from which the final attack on the rest of the city could be launched.

At the other end, as the army approached the city, in an APC kirsty Sat with her staff and several non combat personnel. One of those present was a security system programmer from the psychology division, however he had once worked on various defences. He was about 30, a roughly average looking man in a now very dirty office suit his hair at some point was neatly brushed, but none of this mattered, he was at work.

He unfolded a laptop computer and plugged a small cable into a box about one cubic foot in size. It was infact a receiver/transmitter and it fed into one of Notquiteaplace's very many comms sattelites. He began typing furiously and opening several programs. An intense look of concentration was all that he showed as he typed furiously.

After what seemed like an age, but was about 45 seconds later he had the code. A long string of letters and numbers it was sent to Borman troops to use,

Meanwhile a few hundred feet from the bunker a company of enemy infantry had arrived and were dismounting their APCs.

Kirsty's force closed, a few more tanks taking hits before they closed, finsihing the defenders, they entered the city by a large highway and began driving for the palace.

Kirsty picked up a communticator, knowing the numbers of loyalists in th airforce.

"This is president Cox, have all aircraft in range of Notquiteaplace city arm up to smash the fortified Presidential Building. Expect moderate flaks and enemy resistance. Ready in ten minutes, to go please.

Accross notquiteaplace hundreds of airmen and crews readied themselves.
*******

Meanwhile in near the palace, the armoured Loyalists ran into a a large eney line running around the palace.

OOC: at one point on the line, this part gives a microcosm of events accross it.

IC:

The Personnel armoured troops advanced down the street approaching two whole companies of enemy and an armoured company. It was a large shop lined avenue but not the tamrac was being torn up by the tanks that ran behind them. The platoon marched down the road with the light tanks firing apon the enemy armour.

As they approached range they began firing with their assault rifles apon their targets who were carefully placed and firing back. Thick enemy fire ricocheted off their armour, the suits barely struggling to hold the onslaught back. A couple of men fell to hits in the eye and one fell to the ground as a shot penetrated his armour at the elbow joint. He stopped and drew a pistol and joined a heavy weapon team.

The teams set down calmly as their squadmates fire was killing dozens of enemy. A a pair of 20mm cannon were set down at 300m on the side of the road and began tearing holes in the flanks of the enemy force. But then many enemy began firing heavy weapons, claiming the lives of several more men.

Of the eight enemy tanks in place, four were wrecked already, however the squad had lost three of it's own.

Suddenly near the enemy 10 heavy battlesuits burts an alley, firing huge 30mm cannon into the enemy heavy weapons teams decimaing them and their cover. The suits jogged at fill speed to the side of the force and turned thei shoulder mounted missile racks to fire at the exposed sides of the enemy armour. While these racks could mount SAMs there was no point and 10 missiles streaked towards the enemy tanks, flipping one as its engine exploded. The suits stood at about eight feet tall and moved slower than infantry could, but they were covered in metal and mounted 2 large weapon systems, on on the arm and on on the other shoulder leaving the hand on that arm free to aim the weapons with an built in targeter (OOC: much like the Sparrow missile on the phantom). The powered armour looked like men cased entirely in standard fatigues, except with plates of metal on.

The infantry fired back, but despite the easy targets the battlesuits made non assault rifle bullets even remotely threatened them. An anti tank missile crashed into one decimating it, and a tank managed to snatch 3 up in ahuge blast, but the machine's 30mm cannon were far more effective.

The enemy ran foward expecting the powered armour to be as clumsy as the battlesuits but instead were matched for agility, by an enemy they no longer outnumbered....

Danne knew to play the ace up his sleve, his own suits. His men may not have known what they were facing, but he did. A platoon of medium battlesuits emerged from round the corner of the road and began firing their own cannon and a few missiles into the heavy suits. They were decimated, one managing to hit a couple with his own weapons before the slightly smaller faster suits hit him. The medium suits were much like the heavy suits but a little smaller faster and with just one 1 missile on their shoulder mount.

But the powered armour troops were quicker to respond, their 20mm cannon were as effective as the assault rifles were on them, and the two anti tank missle launchers firing into them. But they were only killing a few while the equally numbered enemy were killing them quickly, 20 fell while eight enemy fell. Before they could reload, the last tank fired into the enemy, scattering five suits in one hit, while its smaller anit tank missile rack fired rapidly unloading all it's missiles and destroying four more.

From that angle the enemy couldnt hit the tank. And as a few standard infantry moved up behind and began firng more missiles into them there was a sudden shower of explosions among them. 25 fell in total to the attack. hwoever the survivros didnt flee but closed bgunning another 10 power armour suits down, a couplefiring missiles at the tank. However they hit the thick armour on the front and despite it's lighter armour it withstood the blast due to the location.

More were chopped down by 20mm cannon and missiles and a large explosion from another 105mm explosive shell (it's safe to assume my tanks dont just carry AFDSABOT) cleared the survivors.

Bodies lie around, but the defence had been broken.

The remaining troops remained outside the palace too, few in numbers to attack the huge fortification unassisted, but enough to cover the area and guard for reinforcements.

OOC: not that any reinforcements would arrive at the palace they are tied up fighting easy green troops.

Though Kirsty and the Borman forces are very near in large numbers now.

As the door slid open several guards went to grab weapons. Lead pumped them as they collapsed. The team walked through and entered the northwest room and immediatly shot all rebel soldiers. Guns were aimed at the techs as one soldiers locked a door.

"Who do you want in power?"

As the smug borman troops strode in several battlesuits were waiting, knowing that there were intruders in the complex. As a few power armoured troops fell around them, the four medium suits turned their 30mm cannon apon the enemy and began firing between them 20 rounds a second at the enemy. Aiming them like assault rifles.

OOC: Serves you right for assuming they wouldnt know you were coming or wouldnt have stronger defence. I hope you have some good armour piecing weapons or high powered blast weapons.

IC: down the corridoor behind them several troops in power armour ran up carrying assault rifles.

OOC: well If i dont hear from easy green I will continue and can play their part out later. As they are basically holding the reinforcements up. Sucessfully, whether they kill the enemy or die.

Though their part in the bunker op is vital. I will play this out on Wednesday if they haven reacted.

OOC: Righty then
IC:

The Borman troops jumped throuhg the door firing shots around the corridoor in a heavy hail. Several battlesuits had been deployed there and were waiting. Two were blown over by grenades and a pair of power armoured defenders were hit in the eyes by the wide spread. However the remainder still numbered fired many shots into the Borman and Easy Green troops. Borman's heavily armoured troops were still hurt by 30mm cannon, four falling while 6 Easy green men had huge holes torn into them by the force of the shells.

However the return fire was accurate and well measured, with two more of the battlesuits falling to anti tank weapons, effortlessly while the last was hit by a pair of grenades tripping it. The troops dashed donw the corridoor to the next room were the control complex lay.

The men moved into the final room where a few power armoured men stood. Seeing the enemy they surrendered wisely, and the Borman CO was left with a link to Ms Cox and control of the defence system...

OOC: the rest to follow.

Hundreds of bombers took off from their airfileds and began heading for the capital. Like a sawarm over the city they began making attacks on the South of the fortified palace. Bombs dropped smashing stone and sending it flying, carving huge holes in the reinforced castle like walls.

At the South of the palace the Borman and loyalist forces gathered for an attack and several tanks and artillery peices sat waiting for the attack to stop. Fire and smoke obscured the fortress from their sight and waited for the fury of the airforce to end. After fifteen minutes that felt like eternity the bombardment stopped and the force stopped to look.

Most of the the south wall and much of the building was collapsed and the defenses were no longer operable. The force swept into the building covering every rock and corner and shooting anything that moved. Over 10000 men and battlesuits swept into the fortress and found little resistance. Danne's broken body was found among the rubble a few days later when the clearing began. He had been crushed by a falling ceiling but was holding a loaded gun at the time of his death.

*** At the time***

Danne sat and watched the bombers destroy his fortress. He had learnt why the nation was strong in it's piece the hard way. No nation could withstand the world, and with a few allies he had been swept away. He had been a fool and now saw clearly, thousands of people were dead because of him.

He loaded his gun and stared at it, knowing what would happen next. There was low rumble as he did and chunks of masonry fell apon him, saving him from having to bring himself to do it himself....

OOC: This war was fairly short but took ages to RP. As such I will assume it ended within a few months of starting. My next post shall be the rebuilding of my nation. An epilogue so to speak. Thanks to my allies, will be made IC.

It was election day, and this year it had been different, therewere no term limits on the government in Notquiteaplace and so Kirsty was standing for her third presidency. Notquiteaplace had been mostly rebuilt and the results were to be announced from Redmound.

Kirsty stood apprehensively in front of a large monument to the old town and the people that had been killed there a few years before, since then she had won the war, rebuilt the nation and was nearly through a large military overhaul. The battlesuits had proven their worth in war and so they had been added, along with power armouring standard mechanised infantry and many other contracts. Notquiteaplace would fight fast decisive wars, not bloody attrition, Redmound was an example of why. The roads had needed repairing due to the damage several armoured groups had done, but by and large, the civialian casualties were low for an extensive war, barring one or two places like this.

It wasn't the only example of a town flattened in the war, but was important as the main resistance had won there. And now Kirsty stood waiting as the votes came in, no idea whether she would win. Well, to say the odds werent good was an understatement, the book keepers weren't accepting bets on the election this year, the odds of her winning just meant there wasnt the incentive to bet. Instead her margin had been included. Her and her closest ministers sat around her, waiting. Then the announcement came through every TV in the nation, a map of notquiteaplace, with different colours showing differen party held constituencies. Red was the colour of their party, and the map was almost entirely red. She had won her third term with a new record.

OOC: never mind. One last thing though.

IC: As the news came through the whole party rejoiced, the after result party would follow now before the government continued as usual. They walked away from the plaque and if anyone had read it at that noticed that it would have explained the story of the battle fought there, thanking Notquiteaplace's allies for stopping it happening again.

Notquiteaplace officially thanks our new found allies. Telegram us if you ever find yourself needing our army.
