Opinno to construct Warp Gate to Earth!!!

Pentova
28-10-2004, 01:03
OOC: Opinno is my home planet, Pentova is an earth colony.

IC: Today the Opinnian Planetary Congress voted to create a warp gate from Opinno to the planet Earth. Opinno is located in the Andromeda galaxy, and travel to the Milky Way, and Earth, even in warp speeds, can take years. The creation of the earth colony Pentova has created a need for faster transport between the two for supply and colonization purposes. This warp gate will move in Geo-Synchronous orbit with Earth and Opinno, and will create a line capable of one billion times the speed of light travel. This is unthinkable in Opinnian warp drives and will create new opportunities for both planets, and also for members of the Galactic Republic, as they will be granted free access to the gate, and also will be given the opportunity to create a gate to their homeplanet. This gives new possibilities for politics as well. Any Republic members may apply for a gate, and anyone can ask questions.

Ten times the speed of light unthinkable? And yet, it only takes a couple days to get between Andromeda and the Milky Way?

Wait... don't tell me you're using ST based crap...

Meh. Whatever. The IC warning about staying out of Minagoroshi's way still stands.

Even then...

The Milky Way is what? 100,000 lightyears in diameter? To go across it, even at 100 times the speed of light, would take 1,000 years.

And to Andromeda is further than that...

Ok fine! I'll change it to that it takes about a year to get from here to there, and the gate will have 1000 times light. Good enough?

OOC: First time posting in....ages, but...in my opinion (which amounts to nothing, lol) if the gate used foldspacing technology, it'd be instant travel and there'd be no need to specify any amount of speed. Just my opinion, so ignore me if I'm misunderstanding anything here, lol.

But they use warp 9.9999 only in emergency situation because:

A)The warp cores can't maintain that speed
B)It damages time-space continuum(mentioned in ST episode)

This BTW reminds me why i always RP at moderntech

I was only quoting a Warp Speeds table I found in Star Trek the

Well lets see... I believe modern techs best would be 65,000 miles
per hour.. ie.. Ion Rockets...... Way Slow!
New Exodus
28-10-2004, 17:14
OOC: Actually, modern tech propulsion is more about acceleration than max speed, since those ion rockets build up huge velocities over time. Not speed of light, of course, but not too bad either.

IC:
The Orbital Colonies of New Exodus would be pleased to host the other end of this Warpgate/Wormhole/Fold-Station/whatever.

We are a large nation situated at the Earth's Lagrange Point One, between Luna and Terra. New Exodus is willing to pay up to one-half the cost, and will happily use its own resources and facilities to construct the Sol-side gate.

In return, we ask only for the opportunity to travel through it, and be allowed access to the technology it operates upon (the latter request is for the safety of our personnel, as our ships may need modifications to safely pass through).

Oh, it's not the ST tech that sucks. It's the source. (Suck it, Trekkies!!)

Granted, not all of Trek is bad. DS9 actually pretty well kicked ass. Namely due to the much fewer number of Saucerheads. (The Defiant. One of the few Feddie ships that doesn't SUCK.)

That godmod crack was just a joke, but yeah, foldgates would work a lot better.

IC reason for Minagoroshi's change of heart... The Nation of CorpSac is making the mistake of giving her free reign in half of a galaxy they discovered. The more resources Minagoroshi has at her disposal, the more powerful she becomes. She's comming to a point in her growth where she can pretty well crush some nations like insects, so she's not really cautious about you anymore.

-IC-

As I have reconsidered by stance on you, due to an impending deal from another nation...

I am willing to assist you in the construction of your 'gate' as a gesture of good will.

I await your answer.

Pentova
29-10-2004, 01:10
The Gate requires an Opinnium Crystal, found only on Opinno that will be supplied to you, 2 Dingon Reactors to channel the powers of the Opinnium. This works by creating a rift in the space time continium that is continous until it reaches another Opinnium. This creates the opportunity to travel at near instataneous speeds without worrying about debris in the way of the ship. It is very easy to build actually.

I wasn't trying to sell you a star gate. Warp Gates travel though
Warp Space ( Warhammer 40,000 ). Warp space is extremely hazardous
to ships travelling through it. Is the Warp Space your speaking of from
Warhammer?

I'm a trekkie and proud of it. Unforunately I wasn't involved in designing
Trek Technology or a number of things would have been done differantly. So I don't understand your problem with trekkies. What I was offering is SG1 Technology. I do like the Defiant Class Starship, I use them quite alot.

Pentova
29-10-2004, 01:52
Nope, here is some history.

267 FY: Julius Canns discovers the time-warping properties of Opinnium. He uses it in daily transportation to reduce pollution. Becomes rich.
269 FY: FoOSSE (Federation of Opinnian Scientists for Space Exploration) refines the process and sends the first ship around the planet using it.
270 FY: Jacob Dingon creates the Dingon reactor, making it possible to narrow the rift length, thus enhancing the range capabilities. So far it is able to reach 5,000,000 lightyears into space.
