OOC: This is getting way too crazy. I second the motion to back up a couple steps, but if Balrogga and I are the only ones, we'll need to stall. I've got a decent peace proposal, but I won't be able to post it all for a few hours.

In the meantime, I'll post my actions, and if we decide to rewind, I'll simply delete it.

All my ships are either in Empire Space or outside Earth Orbit except for the ships I have in T-Space. I also have a Harbor Patrol ship on the ground in Cherry Ridge that transported my deligate. None of those ships will move and all hostilities will be ignored until we come to a decision about the back up.

OOC: I'm willing to take it back a few steps. My 75 SSDs were partially brought from Northrop Grumman when I was ramping up for a war with TFU, the others I built over a period of about two months. How I understood the few posts before my last one was that the comms were over the open. I didn't see that it was a space minus transmission. I'll change it if everyone goes back before when I launched the fighters.

I agree, hit rewind to my last IC post and start from there, I still have my deligate land and enter the talks. That is the only thing that happened after I made my IC post. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

IC:

A ship faded into view about 20 meters above the landing platform at Cherry Ridge. The Harbor Patrol vessel (unarmed) requested permission to land. After getting it, it settled down to the tarmac and the represenative for the Empire left the shuttle.

The hooded figure followed it's escort to the chamber where the negotiations were being held. Upon entering, the figure reached up and pulled back it's cowel. A young girl looked back at the others within the room.

"Well, we have work to do here. Let's get busy. I have to be at Hind's Crimson Star to visit my sister tonight. I don't want to be late."

She took her seat and looked around the room seriously.

OOC: Unexpected RL matters will keep me offline until late Saturday night (East Coast, USA time)

Balrogga, I'm really regretting not participating in that thread where you first developed your Torq Drive. If only I had taken the two minutes to reply, my nation might know about T-space. Que sera, sera. And how long has it been since they fixed the gravity-well problem?

I have a peace proposal that I need to talk to CR about, but basic idea for now is that St. Berchman's gets split 50/50 between CR and DC/DC's allies. In addition, the Cardinal amends the CR constitution to tolerate certain religions, but strictly defines those religions. It would allow major religions like Buddhism (and who other than the Chinese hates Buddhists?) but would make sure that cults don't rise up. More info when I get back, and good luck with the peace summit.

IC:

High Marshall Wu sat in the darkened bridge, knowing that if anyone fired, he and his crew would be the first to die in the crossfire. The rest of the New Exodus fleet waited at a lower altitude, so that they might prevent any ground strikes from the fleets. Wait and See, Liang thought bitterly.

At the very least the conference seemed to be getting started, but due to a system malfunction, he was unable to communicate on a sufficient bandwidth to participate. And I even drew up the map, too.

Finally, the comm. systems reactivated, and High Marshal Wu was able to participate in the conference. He listened in on the proposals from the Cardinal and Admiral Gunn.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v254/Redford_Blade/Basemap-Mod.jpg

"Ladies and Gentlemen, my proposal consists of several components:

1. St. Berchman's Isle be split between Cherry Ridge and the Democratic Colonies coalition. This will help to repay the InGen investors.

2. All military units in orbit over Cherry Ridge return to allied territory/ports of origin as their commanders deem appropriate.

3. One third of the money owed to InGen be repayed over a prolonged period, so as not to severely hamper the economic health of Cherry Ridge.

4. Cherry Ridge amend its constitution to promote the tolerance of other religions. So as to ensure that the culture and moral integrity of the nation is preserved, the amendment will provide a restrictive (though not overly so) definition of religion. This is based on legislation currently active in New Exodus, and will allow for more religious tolerance without providing an excuse for behavior that might damage society.

5. All embargoes, blockades, and sanctions against Cherry Ridge be dropped.

"Of course," the High Marshall said, "These are subject to approval by Cherry Ridge, but our analysts agree that this is a reasonable settlement, based on past history and geo-political tensions."

"Any questions or suggestions?"

The Colonial Government places its full support behind the terms drafted by New Exodus. We believe the terms outlined provide a fair and just compromise that should be more than acceptable to the nations involved. The Democratic Colonies offers no amendments or changes, and endorses the terms as outlined in their current form, although changes within reason would still be considered acceptable by the Democratic Colonies.

The Colonial Government proposes that Siesatia be given ownership of the South Eastern area of St. Berchman's Isle, while a new installation for Cherry Ridge is constructed in either the North East or the South West. The Colonial Government is willing to pay up to 15 percent of the costs of construction of a new installation on the island for Cherry Ridge on the condition that the Pan Colonica Corporation is contracted as the sole provider of steel and building materials for the new construction.

After consulting with its allies, the Federated Union of Democratic Colonies, in conjunction with the Unified Worlds of Siesatia and the Empire of Balrogga, would like to present a 4 point peace proposal for consideration by Cherry Ridge.

Point 1.
The "witches" of Cherry Ridge be allowed free travel to any of the DC/Siesatia coalition members that they choose as long as the chosen nation accepts them. They will be evacuated by the military forces of the chosen nation, or by the forces of another coalition member if the chosen nation prefers.

Point 2.
3/4ths of St. John Berchman's Isle be surrendered to the DC/Siesatia coalition. Coalition military personel and equipment will be allowed to be stationed at the Isle without restriction.

Point 3.
Half of all funds owed to the Siesatia or corporations based in Siesatia will be payed back within a span of time deemed reasonable by Siesatia.

Point 4.
There shall be no penalties of death for practicing other religions or offending the religious institutions of Cherry Ridge. Deportation of persons who commit such actions is to occur instead, and be to a nation of the deported person's choosing, assuming the chosen nation accepts them.

Breakdown of proposed St. John Berchman's Isle territorial disribution
1/4th of Isle - Democratic Colonies
1/4th of Isle, to be located in South West - Siesatia
1/4th of Isle, to be located in centre of Isle - Balrogga
1/4th of Isle - Cherry Ridge

We hope that the terms outlined present an acceptable compromise in the name of peace. The Colonial Government is willing to pay up to 15 percent of the costs of building a new base for Cherry Ridge on the Isle if the Pan Colonica Corporation is contracted to be the sole provider of steel and building materials for the new installation. The Colonial Government believes this arrangement could further the cause of peace between Cherry Ridge and the Democratic Colonies while being economically benefical to both parties.

"Hmm, that still places an awful large burden on Cherry Ridge. Considering that their nation has been under near-constant threat of invasion by forces of exceptionally superior technology," he glanced meaningfully at Siesatia and Balrogga, "I would say that perhaps the burden should be lessened."

[b]Revised Plan[/i]

1. St. Berchman's Isle be split between Cherry Ridge and the Democratic Colonies coalition. 1/3 of the Island will go to Cherry Ridge, 1/3 to the Democratic Colonies, and 1/3 to Siesatia. Balrogga and DLE will be given preferred docking status at all New Exodus space facilities for ten years.

2. After a period of up to one month, all military units in orbit over Cherry Ridge will return to allied territory/ports of origin as their commanders deem appropriate.

3. One third of the money owed to InGen be repayed over a prolonged period, so as not to severely hamper the economic health of Cherry Ridge.

4a. Cherry Ridge amend its constitution to promote the tolerance of other religions. So as to ensure that the culture and moral integrity of Cherry Ridge is preserved, the amendment will provide a restrictive (though not overly so) definition of religion. This is based on legislation currently active in New Exodus, and will allow for more religious tolerance without providing an excuse for behavior that might damage society.

4b. Those arrested for practicing witchcraft, if they so choose, shall be allowed to take up residence in a willing nation of their choice.

4c. The aforementioned amendment to promote religious tolerance will include the provision that no person be put to death for their religious practices, but instead shall be deported to a willing nation of their choosing, with the exception of those accused of capital crimes such as murder or rape.

5. All embargoes, blockades, and sanctions against Cherry Ridge be dropped.

6. The parties involved will reconvene in 5? years to renew this treaty and propose amendments to the treaty if circumstances have changed.

~Electronic Transmission~
1) Cherry Ridge pays what is owed to John Hammond and Siesatia, as well as any reparations sought by families of those executed if sought withing thirty days (NS time).
2) Berchmans Isle is to be used as a permanent location where all involved nations may meet to solve differences in the future and is under the control of all nations involved permanently.
3) We agree with CR on this one.
4) The cardinal is put on probation for two years and the embargos are lifted.
5) All attack fleets are to return to their nations or an ally nation while ships normally in the area on other business stay in the area. This includes both in space and in sea.
6) Declarations of war are put on hold pending how the cardinal acts during his probation and, if he does not continue his policies of slaughter and lets those he wants gone to leave, the declarations will cease to be at the same time the probation expires, causing pease and a pardon to come on the same day.
7) Balrogga is allowed to build a school next to the monastary, putting up a sound-proof wall between the two to keep both groups from being disturbed (if the monastary still exists...)
8) If CR violates any part of this agreement, it agrees to a full-scale invasion of itself, involving as much orbital bombardment as necessary to subdue the military, and the allies of CR may not interfere. At that time the invading nations will begin to install a new government and leave the nation to rebuild after five years.

2. While that sounds okay, I still think that the monastery needs to be rebuilt and maintained.
4. Make it five years, at which time he will be fully pardoned and we will reconvene to discuss repayment of the investment money beyond the first half.
5. and 6. Seem okay to me.
7. Up to CR
8. Unacceptable. New Exodus policy specifies that we must not stand by and allow orbital bombardments on an Earth modern-tech nation by a future-tech nation, unless said modern-tech nation can defend itself from said bombardment.

Also, there must be some method of ensuring religious tolerance, even if it simply is to deport all non-catholics to another nation. My personal feeling on this is that it would be beneficial to CR to keep a few major religions around, but that is up to the Cardinal and the people.

1) Anybody executed for being witches. The payment options are not my concern.
4) Five years is acceptable, but I made it two so as to also make it acceptable to CR. If CR is willing to agree to five years, then that is what I will agree to.
8) The word "necessary" is in there for a reason. And, considering what I have learned of this nation's history, I don't want to be back here and doing this again in a few weeks. And the part about orbital bombardment can be removed, leaving it as just us invading and replacing the CR government without you or CM interrupting.

IC:
Having listened to Siesatia's revised terms, Liang spoke, "New Exodus approves the current treaty (pending info on Balrogga's dealings), so long as there is an 'understanding' between our nations that if CR complies, after the five-year meeting, the warships be withdrawn. If we had already had such a pact in place, I am quite sure your military would be in shambles and what's left of your people installing a new government right now. Do not forget your firing of a missile is, no matter the legal system, an act of war.
To be honest, your nation is a risk I am not willing to accept on my side. I cannot have someone as gung-ho as yourself, as evidenced by your firing a missile at one of my ships, in a military alliance of any sort with myself. You have already proven to me, from the reports of my officers on the field, that you cannot be trusted during negotiations to keep from starting hostilities. My risk analists peg an alliance with your nation to be, as they put it, "utejomejnot." I may not agree with them, but I pay them to do their jobs because they are good at it.
I have nothing against your nation except an alliance with you would pose too much of a risk for my own. If you wish to make an alliance with Siesatia and Balrogga and they are willing, go ahead.
A pact of neutrality I am willing to have my soldiers sign. Anything more than that in a way of an alliance I cannot agree to.

~Electronic Message to Crazed Marines~

If your guys are so smart, then why didn't they understand that that warning shot, that is "an act of war", got our point across and brought your and your allies' fleets to the negotiating tables. That was all we wished to do. We know that it may have sparked a war, but we also knew that nobody wished war, so the tatic was effective in scaring your admirals enough. If you're not used to such tatics, you will be dominated by someone who's not as nice as we are. We strongly suggest that a smaller nation such as yourself take advantage of the friendship of a nation ten times your size.

~Electronic Transmission to Crazed Marines~
You will find threatening me will get you nowhere. And being a nation ten times our size really doesn't matter that much to me.
At the time, there was no indication that was a warning shot. In fact, one of my ships has reported detecting a target launch on another of my ships. That would have made my soldiers deciding to open fire on your ships, mines, and civilians justified and any deaths resulting being faulted to your end. It helps to think about these things beforehand.
I must commend my military for not being scared. If they had been, they would have opened fire on your missile and then your ships. The result may have lost me a few ships, but you would have lost quite a bit more in the long run. You're not dealing with common soldiers.
To be honest, it was not your fleet who got us to the bargaining table. It was your ally deciding to aim at any shots you fired after that. My soldiers were pushing for war and making plans to take you out. Don't assume that just because they don't shoot back they are not willing to do as much damage as they can.
I personally found your picture to be very amusing. It revealed exactly the kind of people I am dealing with, what to expect from you, and added more evidence to why I will not ally with you. When you have someone a bit more blossomed willing to take over diplomatics, let my ships know.

Ow, how cute...The rat-dog is dictating to the Saint Bernard what to do...I don't think that your men are above average. You haven't even had enough time to establish a decent training school. It usually takes around one hundred years to do so. One of the great things about being a dictator is Enigma can effectively order it to where he never has to talk to you.

You'll find my soldiers work well in small groups. This is not because of any advanced military training, but because they are both inventive and adaptive. Part of the reason the ships are so small is related to this. They will surprise you if you think they'll fight using conventional means.

Just out of curiousity, how close to your settlements do your mine fields come? I would think you would need some space for ships to get in without fear of hitting one.

We will provide all the aid that is within our economic grasp as long as the nation in need provides adequate proof of it's need whichever side of the conflict they were on.

However, we must make a statement that we had from the beginning been oposed to the discriminatory action taken against witches, and hope not to see such inhuman policies be implemented again. One Week Later

High Marshal Wu stepped out of the dropship's hatch and onto St. Berchman's Isle. It had been months since he had set foot on Earth, and the fresh air and open skies of the planet were refreshing.

In the distance, he could see people swarming over the ruins of structures destroyed during the last evacuation, bringing new life to the buildings. In the air above the island, orbital shuttles and aircraft zipped back and forth. The rough roads were being worn down by the treads of construction vehicles. It seemed that peace had settled, even after only a week.

His Marshal's cape swishing behind him, Liang walked down the road to the Siesatian base. His step was light, and a smile crossed his face for the first time in two weeks.

OOC: Peace be with you all. (And lets keep it this way)

The DLE command ship landed gracefully, despite the alterations to the Siesatian design, and General Soybayun stepped out. She blinked twice and looked around. Despite how it looked from orbit, Earth was a strangely dark planet, its atmosphere not being lit enough by the tiny star it orbitted.

Soybayun marched straight towards the meeting area, seeing other delegates there, and smiled at the surprised looks she occasionally got. Despite her alien origin, she appeared completely human, her hair waving a bit in the wind. Her ease of movement in the atmosphere was due to what made her homeworld attractive to the Sarkarasetans: It's density, higher than normal for a planet of that size, created a gravity field comparable to Earth. There was no way they would pass up the opportunity that presented.

Soybayun shivered a bit in the colder sun. The Siesation ships, unlike the ones they replaced, had allowed for better replication of Terran's atmosphere and temperature levels. This proved to be a disadvantage for colonization efforts, but people adapted quickly enough it was not considered a problem.

"So, shall we do this?" Soybayun asked of those present.

Liang took another deep breath and quieted his mind using a concentration technique he had learned as an adolescent. Glancing around, he noticed the activities of the delegates.

Admiral Gunn was watching the Siesatian compound's construction, no doubt wondering how he might acquire that technology for use by Crazed Marines, or perhaps simply admiring the weapons and fortifications.

The Cardinal was shmoozing, and Liang felt a slight twinge of annoyance. He had little against the man, but he did not like stubborness, or the way the Cardinal seemed to live in luxury. As a senior officer, he understood that such things came with advancement, but he had never seen a New Exodus Cardinal or Arch-Bishop drive around in such a nice car.

Soybayun seemed chilled, but otherwise happy, and Syphera seemed to just be glad to be back on the island.

All of these people seemed relatively transparent, although with the non-humans, he doubted that he knew enough about their cultures to be certain. The one that concerned him most, was the young Chrystal. Like Commander Haase, Liang had been chosen at an early age for grave responsibilities. Youth were not given important jobs unless they could handle it, and Liang recognized Chrystal's quiet, contemplative demeanor from his own youth.

The Emperor has ordered The Inspiration to be refitted and should be ready to open within the week. If we cannot get the right to follow a flight plan over land, we will use International Waters. The Imperial College will be created even if the CR allies don’t want it. We will continue as planned.”

Soybayun has slipped away from the others and back into her ship. She was strangely sweating, despite feeling cold, and was beginning to feel... unusual. She hoped this was just a minor disease and not genetics finally comming into play. But she needed confirmation.

"General, several of our people are experiencing the same thing. They're the ones expected to change the most. It appears the error margin was wrong or that something has triggered it early. In any case, the Change has begun," Morlen, captain of the Torlagga, said.

"Damn. I'll have to hide it during this. The raptor will smell that there is something off, but I can pass that off as them finally noticing we are not human, even if we are genetically related. If the change is too much, it'll become obvious and I'll have to explain it. That will delay things and annoy the others. Get the fleet back home and use a standard scatter pattern for the jumps. No need in revealing our location just yet. Also, where is the Dictator?" Soybayun asked.

"The last transmission from his ship revealed it was infected with something from a derelict he was investigating. He sent along a copy of his program just in case he did not return. So far, we've kept his absense a secret with that copy. No need in people finding out he is indisposed and possibly going to be destroyed," Morlen said.

"Understood. Now get out of here," Soybayun commanded.

Soybayun exitted the ship and, spotting a Siesatian, waved and walked over, noticing a Balroggan there as well. She smiled at the diplomats, despite her eyes holding an internal discomfort. Things were not going as expected.

OOC: I had expected to be done with this RP by now. I set my schedule for this date with that in mind. What is going on is a preprogrammed evolutionary change in the entire species. It's been building for thousands of years now and is just comming into play. By their timescale, much earlier than expected. While this throws a minor inconvenience and forces a withdrawel of DLE forces, it shouldn't have that much of an effect on this RP.

OOC: Long story short, New Exodus is allied with a nation of mythical/fairy tale creatures. The result is that many of my main characters are kept relatively youthful because of exposure to the nation's magic. The nation (Crystal Ireland) has a thriving Catholic diocese, populated mostly by Leprechauns, thanks in part to Commander Haase and the fact that, well, its Ireland. Also, several main characters like Commander Haase were genetically modified as soon as they were conceived, though they have not figured out who did it. This also lends towards a younger age than would be normal for humans in their positions of power. Liang is in his mid-thirties, but looks only about 18.

The High Marshal smiled, "I suppose I wouldn't be the first to be suspicious of the car, but I still apologise. As for my age, I'm... older than you would expect."

Throughout the conversation with the Cardinal, Liang had been watching the raptor and Balroggan. While the lip movements of the Siesatian were too unfamiliar for him to recognize, he could see what the young girl, Chrystal, was saying.

"If you would excuse me, your eminence, I just remembered a pressing matter that begs my attention. Perhaps we could talk more after the signing?"

Not quite waiting for a reply, Liang moved rapidly to the conversing females.

No doubt the raptor will sense my movement, and the girl has been watching all of us. They won't be surprised by my arrival, but no matter.

"On the contrary," he said brightly, with almond eyes twinkling mischeviously, "The school is a wonderful idea. I for one am happy to know that the Inspiration will be available." (Yes, he is being honest.)

OOC:Balrogga, what exactly does Chrystal look like? You mention that she is young, and that she physically resembles a large portion of those being persecuted, but what does that mean?

Syphera smelt something, normally, she would not have heeded her instincts to leave the area, but the scent she smelled was a sick, diseased smell, used long ago by her anscestors to discern the healthy from the sick, and pick their prey accordingly.
Turning around, she accidentally bumped Crystal with her long tail, being 20 feet long made these manuvers difficult. She saw the DLE representative, turning back around (And hitting Crystal again)
"I'm sorry, I have to go." she said urgently, and walked off towards the tent.

OOC: Soybayun is female. You'll find a tendency for women to be in the upper ranks of my military. You'll also find most of those you encounter are young hotshots, due mostly to the retirement age and tendencies of promotion.

Shivans? Even if I knew what those are, not likely. DLE people are Sarkarasetans, which is a species that evolved from humans several thousand years before on an Earth orbitting a different Sol than the one the delegates are on now. Unless you actually check their genetic coding or have someone (like raptors) with enough of a sense of smell, you can't tell the difference. Of course, the DLEs don't know they evolved from humans, the homeworld of the Sarkarasetan race, or exactly what is happening now beyond the blanket-statement of evolution. I plan on revealing a lot of this in a future RP.

Also, about their height average: Humans have shown a strange tendency towards getting taller as the years progress. The idea of a species that evolved from humanity having that as a natural height and it being common isn't that unlikely. In its own history, the human race has grown at least half-again as big as it started out.

Soybayun watched as the Siesatian turned and left. She wondered for a moment what was going on. But, she had a job to do despite what happened.

"Hello. I'm General Soybayun of the DLE fleet. I understand you're of the Balroggans. Or, at least, that is what I am assuming," Soybayun said, extending her hand to Chrystal.

Soybayun smiled as she looked around, feeling slightly more powerful. Her people averaged around 2 meters, depending on the year and nutrition, and this caused them to tower over the heads of most humanoids. But, Soybayun was here to negotiate and serve as an ambassador, not to let her ego get sway of her. Then she silently wondered if the woman before her was reading her mind.

Catching herself for a second time as the Raptor’s tail nearly knocked her to her knees, Chrystal stumbled barely staying off the ground.

“Well, I wonder what got into her?”

She could sense the fear and disgust oozing from Syphera, almost pure instinct. Looking up she noticed Soybayun watching her. Chrystal chuckled.

“I hate it when that happens.”

She regained her footing and crouched to pick up the spilled plate and now empty punch glass. She scanned the individual before her, using the excuse of the spilled plate as a means to hide her actions. She gathered the pieces of fruit and placed them back upon the plate and put them upon a table where they would not get underfoot.

"Hello. I'm General Soybayun of the DLE fleet. I understand you're of the Balroggans. Or, at least, that is what I am assuming,"

Chrystal looked into Soybayun’s eyes as she spoke.

“Well, you assumed correctly. I am indeed from the Empire.”

“I sense a deep need for change within you, almost uncontrolled. Do not fear the Change. It happened to us over a millennium ago.”

“You must try this fruit, it is just wonderful. It is hard to get it so fresh in space.”

“I sense an Uplift approaching. You will improve as a race. A step forward is better than what most of the other nations are currently attempting.”

“I am sure glad they finally experienced wisdom and decided to call off the war. I really would hate to think what would have happened to them.”

“If you would like to meet so we can talk openly that can be arranged. It might help allay the great fear I feel within you for your Enigma.”

“Life is Magical. We embrace it fully.”

"Sir, you've just been named Acting Dictator. The previous met with a bullet for his actions," Tormeta said.

"It... it is nothing," Tormeta said, backing away slowly, before she turned and ran for the ship.

I noticed the Raptors keep a wide berth, the Burmecians keep giving me suspicious looks, and the few humans are all absent. We've always been on good terms with both your people and them, even if we are looked down upon a bit for being a young nation, but this is the first time they've shown open distrust. Hell, we showed up to help fight a war for them."

"I'll try to get a copy of the list from my computers. And I thank your emperor for his congratulations and will take him up on that offer," Soybayun said.

"I plan on taking him up on that. My people need to begin to learn to control our abilities. I'm just part of the first wave of transformations. The others should be done by the end of three years."

Soybayun stopped, turned, and looked at her ship. Tormeta was visible, waving her hands and moving her arms in strange patterns. The diplomatic and happy look on Soybayun's face vanished instantly.

"Something is up. The graviton generator of the FTL drive is acting weird. We've only seen it do this near black holes, and we are unable to isolate the cause. It's definitely not gravity, as it doesn't do that near stars. Our scientists have a few theories, but I'm not that big on guessing when it comes to space. Anyway, as the saying goes, take me to your leader."

"When you get that list, forward it to my people and we will have a feast with only those items for when you meet with the Emperor."

"You might want to see what is wrong. I sense strong emotion from your shipmates. They fear something but I cannot tell specifics without switching from passive to active and that would be an invasion."

"I'll motion for Tormeta to send a marine with it. I don't want her out in this cold with how pale she is looking," Soybayun said, doing exactly that.

"My people are afraid for good reason. Some of us are beginning to change, the status of our leader is unknown and he may actually be dead and the country to be run by a copy of his program, we just nearly fought a war, and now the key piece of technology behind how we get around is acting up without cause. But, go to active mode for a moment and check if that is it. They know you have telepaths and it is well known you would not do such without my permission. As their leader for the moment, it is my job to look after their well-being and make sure they are not in danger."

"The signing shall be a joyous occasion. It is good to test your military's readiness and ability to follow orders in what appears to be real combat situations without actual combat. Perhaps military exercises between our nations without the soldiers knowing they are performing exercizes are in order. We can set it up so they think the combat is real with the only injuries being minor," Soybayun said.

Pulling her awareness back she turned to face Soybeyun.

“It appears he is fearful because the engines are beyond his control. The calculations are fluctuating too wildly for him to make corrections. He also appears to have some kind of ailment. I don’t think it is contagious but I will request some medical help if you wish. I am not an expert.”

"Just as I suspected. Please send your experts, and I'll have my people examine the crew to see what is going on and if we need to undergo quarantine procedures."

"I have a suspicion about that. In particular, our people did not actually develop this method of travel. The ruins of the same empire that colonized our world contained plans for the FTL drive we are using. I suspect that, from the large supply of derelicts in just our region of space, most of these cultures are actually just stealing from previous empires and claiming they developed it on thier own after a few modifications," Soybayun said.

Then she saw the Siesatian return, this time in armor. Normally, Soybayun would not have been suspicious of the creatures. But their actions today made her wish she had not ordered the fleet to return home, as she now suspected she may have to fight her way past a people she once considered allies.

"I don't know what is up with the Siesatians, but they are making me nervous. If they have a problem with me, they bring it to my face instead of skulking around and lying like a bunch of mejnots afraid of their screwups being found out."

Siesatia, I know that. My reason for having Soybayun state that is she doesn't. I had planned to include a note of it in the post, but rather forgot it. Also, ironically, the information of them being reptiles can be gotten from textbooks printed as recently as 2002, so the information tends to continue in circulation because people don't bother to update their knowledge to actual facts once outside of high school.

Also, note Soybayun's actions are in character for her and not reflective of my own feelings. I know the reason why, but she does not and cannot afford to make assumptions in favor of anyone with her new responsibilities.

IC:

Soybayun walked, silently, into the meeting hall and took a seat. He eyes were narrowed slightly, as she had many worries going on right now, and this was something she wanted over with quickly. But, diplomats being what they are, Soybayun had the feeling this could take awhile, depending on how stubborn people got. She, meanwhile, was considering a certain change in policy for her nation that would affect it for years to come.

Soybayun was not surprised to see one of her crew quickly entered the building, and even less surprised at what was whispered in her ear before the marine hurried out. It was not news she enjoyed hearing, but not entirely unexpected with the changes happening. That, and she had plans for today that would forever alter the diplomatic path of DLE, plans she now considered too important to not put into place.

As the Crazed Marines diplomat entered, Soybayun motioned that she wanted to talk to him after the treaty was signed. He would be pleased to hear what she had to say. He would be even more pleased if he chose to bring the subject up before the treaty was signed at the sudden shift in policy. After all, a leader has to look out for their nation in times when they are no longer sure they can trust one of their allies even more than in times when they have no allies they doubted.

The Dictator may not have felt your nation worth the risk, but you have been honest with us while I no longer can say the Siesatians have been. Leveling about 5000 meters they continued onward to Cherry Ridge. They flew by The Inspiration just off the coast where it was undergoing refit. The ships entered the airspace of the nation and the fighters broke off and joined the patrols protecting the Summit. The shuttle landed at the designated spot. Several people exited the shuttle and proceeded towards the monastery. A small group walked over to the DLE ship.

Chrysta sat in her seat waiting for her turn to sign the agreement. As it became her turn, she stood and approached the table with the document. She stopped before the agreement, took the pen in her hand, and looked over the paper one more time to be sure nothing was changed. She then reaches down as if she was about to sign the paper and hesitated for a second. She then set down the pen and looked at the others gathered and announced:

“I cannot sign this document. This is too important for a delegate to sign.”

She turned and left the table as a group of people entered the room. Several Imperial Guards marched into the room and took positions. An old man wearing white robes trimmed with gold floated into the room. He moved over to the table and hovered before the document. His voice, barely a whisper, was easily heard by everyone within the room.

“I have decided to attend the Summit in person. It is important to stress the importance of this event in history to prevent it from reoccurring. It was once stated we are doomed to repeat our actions if we don’t learn from them. Through enlightenment we can avoid the prejudices and ignorance that lead to this moment from ever happening. I, Lord Nhur-Galladu, Emperor of The Balrogga Empire pledge to work towards enlightenment and offer the use of The Inspiration to combat this threat to peace. The decommissioned carrier now lies off the coast of this nation, refit nearly complete into an institution of learning. It will be available to all to use.”

“This I declare. This I mark down upon this document and I sign my name among the others. This I commit my Empire. This I commit all of us in this room or we will all fail.”

Nhur-Galladu picks up the pen and signs his name. He sets down the pen and floated over to where Chrystal was waiting.

Syphera walked over to the treatie. Looking at it again, her thoughts drifted to her capitain, and her other friends who perished when the Freestar sacraficed itself to save Gaia. Had her fighter not been shot down in the battle, she wouldn't be here.
It was not her work, but their's, they should have been here to see it through, not her. Pulling out a quill she had kept for this occasion, she signed her name.

There Terrance, its finished.

And for a second, she could have sworn he was next to her.

Liang smiled, for now it was his turn to sign the document. It was incrediby gratifying to witness the birth of a new peace, without bloodshed or terrible suffering. He raised his pen.

Thank you, Michael, for giving me this chance, he thought happily.

"I, High Marshal Liang Wu, serving as representative of New Exodus, do hereby certify that all nations present have consented to the terms of this treaty, and that we affirm our own commitment by singing this document."

With a flourish, his signature flowed out across the page.

Reis, although dead, excisted at a time, maybe 1000 years ago, but he died, I keep this to remind myself of the ancient protectors." He grabbed the chair, and set it back on the ground.

Liang leaned in the doorway.

"For all you know, the statue could have been the Siesatian Jesus, since it would make sense for the Son of God to be on several worlds at once. That sort of thing is a sure-fire sign of divinity. And there is no reason He had to have always been Human, since God created all sentient life."

As if possessed by a sudden impulse of reverence, Liang crossed himself after speaking.

He died while flying over Alexandria, when the soldiers shot him down. However, then, when they tried to take our land, his death angered the ancient Dragon Knights, and they tore through the armies, with tactics that are said to have made the world shake, one of the enemy survivors said 'it rained, more blades, than water'." He put the chair on the ground after restling it outta the hands of the clergyman.

Before Soybayun could even reply, Tormeta stood up and quickly rushed off the ship, knocking over a marine in the process. She was gone into the night before anyone could stop her. Unknown to them was that she had a chosen target, and would not hesitate to go after him.

The one thing she did not need is a crazed subordinate on a bloodhunt. Especially one that nobody knew the strengths, weaknesses, or abilities of.

"I need to see who is in charge, and I don't care they're opinion right now," Soybayun snapped at the guards she saw at the door she arrived at, having made just enough time to arrive at the same time as the Siesatian leader.

Meanwhile, inside the compound, Tormeta paused, waiting as people scurried about. She had taken a running jump, making it through a window before the blast shield had dropped. Democratic Colonies
16-12-2004, 05:49
* 40,000 feet above St. John Berchman's Isle *

The normal silence and darkness of the night over St. Berchman's Isle was pierced by the roar of jet engines and the wink of formation lights as a Colonial air convoy approached thier landing zone in the sector of the Isle that had been allocated to the Democratic Colonies. 64 F-106 Liberators escorted a dozen C-130 Hercules and a pair of C-5 Galaxies, cutting a wide swath through the cloudy valleys of the moonlit sky.

Commander Claire Delmack, Colonial Navy, Office of Naval Intelligence, Special Operations Section One, shifted uncomfortably in her seat aboard one of the C-5 Galaxies as the massive transport plowed its way through yet another pocket of turbulence. She glanced over at the man seated next to her - a mister Richard Gamble from the Department of Foriegn Affairs. A severe, somewhat tired looking man in his mid-thirties, he was some sort of diplomatic attache that was supposed to operate as her 'co-commander' on the Isle. It was the only compromise the civilian and military elements of the government could reach.
"What do you think?" Delmack asked Gamble, shifting again in her seat.
"About what"? replied Gamble dryly. "About the fact that we had to delay sending up our personel for a month because of some covert operation you were on?"
Delmack gave Gamble an icy glare.
"Office of Naval Intel needed me for an operation - it was of critical importance to the safety of the Democratic Colonies." replied Delmack defensively.
"I'm sure it was." replied Gamble with a slightly sarcastic tone in his voice. "That's why they promoted you to Commander, right?" he said, motioning towards the Commander's insignia that Delmack now wore on the collar of her red leather uniform jacket.
Delmack visibly tensed up as she replied.
"Look Mr. Gamble," she began, "I don't know what sort of things you think that I do for ONI, but I assure you, they were important enough to warrent the delay of our arrival until it was completed."
Gamble slumped back into his chair and dismissed her arguement with a wave of his hand.
This is going to be a long deployment. Thought Delmack to herself. We've got reports of somekind of violence going on down on the Isle and I've been assigned some pencil pushing civilian 'co-commander' from Foreign Affairs. Why oh why couldn't they have sent me on a nice, relaxing beach terrain survey mission or something?
Commander Delmack leaned back into her still slightly uncomfortable chair as the transport plane again ran into a pocket of turbulence on thier way to establish the Colonial presence on St. John Berchman's Isle.

Chrystal walked over to where Soybayun was talking and waving her arms frantically. The aura of concern and fear flowed from her in waves.

“What is the problem?”

“The crewman who was sick seems to have been mutated by the virus into a vampire. She is loose somewhere upon the island. We are searching for her as we speak. Siesatia has imposed a Lockdown.”

“Let me see if I can locate her.”

Chrystal closes her eyes and concentrated upon all those within range (at her power level, it is rated in miles). She “felt” the minds of Soybayun, Dragoon Silverlance, and Cardinal DeVito. The minds of several groups of soldiers were scurrying about with the tint of fear and urgency as they searched for the intruder. There, inside the compound she detected an elusive mind succumbed by feral instinct. The mind was completely enthralled upon the hunt. She could sense Tormeta as she prowled the darkened hallways of the compound.

Chrystal opened her eyes.

“Tormeta is within the compound. She is on the Hunt. We need to get to her before she kills. Follow me!”

Soybayun followed Chrystal, running as fast as her legs could carry her. The fact they were longer helped immensely, causing Soybayun to have to slow down several times during the run. Normally, she would not have had to do so at all.

Tormeta watched the door carefully, her eyes on it and wanting to get inside. Her chosen target, the representative from Cherry Ridge, would be a tasty treat. The problem, however, was the guards. She was not sure how to get past them and into the room. So far, luck was on her side.

Soybayun was surprised when her and Chrystal arrived at a door, guarded by Siesatian troops. She wondered slightly if Chrystal was right about their destination. Her question was answered before she could voice it as a strong arm hit her in the back, knocking her into the wall and leaving her sprawled on the floor in a daze. Then, main percieved challenge taken care of, Tormeta turned towards Chrystal and and tensed to strike.

Chrystal and Soybayun arrived at the door she was getting the impression of the Prey. The two guards standing outside the door seemed to be unaware they were being watched. They snapped to attention as soon as they saw the two women running towards then. The feeling of curiosity was emanating from them as they tried to see why the two were running.

“Beware of the intruder, she is near. Take her alive if possible.”

Soybayun was looking at the door wondering if Chrystal made a mistake when suddenly Chrystal felt immense hatred and hunger right behind them. The tall woman suddenly flew forward into the wall with a loud smack and slumped to the floor dazed. Chrystal turned as the alien vampire was sizing up the skinny Ta’Nar. Chrysta readied herself without appearing to do so.

After a few seconds Tormeta leaped at Chrystal. She grabbed the vampire’s shirt and dropped to the ground, kicking up with her legs flipping the alien into the air. There was a sickening thud as she hit the wall. Chrystal rolled to her knees and rose in a crouch, ready for what Tormeta might try next.

Tormeta shook her head as she picked herself from the floor. A sizable dent was in the wall where she struck it. Out of the corner of her eye Chrystal saw one of the guards attempting to help Soybayun while the other was trying to fiddle with his communicator. Tormeta saw this and leapt upon the guard, ripping out his throat before he knew what was happening.

Tormeta licked blood from her fingers and grinned, showing her fangs.

“We don’t want any company interfering, do we? You surprised me. I didn’t think you could move like that.”

“It comes from a thousand years of training in martial arts styles from two different worlds. I am considered a Master in many of them.”

“My, my, my, aren’t you the talented one. The blood burning through this body makes me stronger and faster. I can move in the blink of an eye and strike before you can see it, like this…”

As Tormeta said this she blurred into motion, moving with supernatural speed in an attempt to strike Chrystal. Her claws sliced through empty air as Chrystal dodge below the attack and rolled through Tormeta’s long legs, striking where her common Peroneal nerve ran. The pressure point caused her leg to buckle for a second as Chrystal came up behind her. She swung her fist down upon the Suprascapular Pressure Point on her shoulder, stunning Tormeta for a few seconds.

“You may be fast as a blur, but I know what you are trying to do before you even know. That is another one of my talents you mentioned before.”

Tormeta growled and, rather than try again, chose to run out of the room. She disappeared down the hall quickly, having decided her prey is most important. She decided to try the guard station next, hoping to find out where to head from there.

Soybayun shook her head, still dazed. She had not been hit that hard in a long, long time. But, somehow, she came to the conclusion the Siesations were responsible, not being able to conclude her thinking was a result of the head trauma. It made sense in her mind that they had to be at fault.

"Come, let's go. We have to catch her," Soybayun said, slumping to the floor as a wave of dizziness overwhelmed her.

The guard looked on as the other guard's neck was torn apart by the horrible mutation that was Tormeta.
He raised his Bardiche, a paticularly cruel weapon, especially when coupled with 40,000 Volts. The kind of weapon saved only for the best in the Dragon Knights. Taking steps, not back, or forward, but in a circular motion, so as not to disturb his target. One touch from the spear, no matter how light, and she would be out in a moment.

OOC: I was supposed to have a plot for this one? This is pretty much stuff I'm making up as I go along. I did, however, cover up one of the plot holes that has been bugging me when it comes to Soybayun. However, the irony of someone familiar with Tormeta failing to stop the vampire while a simple guard armed with one of your spears does is priceless.

And, yes, Soybayun is supposed to seem like a jerk at this point.

IC:

Tormeta paused, looking at the guard as she came out. Growling, Tormeta decided to take out this insolent whelp and be on her way. She paused for a moment and then charged forward, claws swiping to hit the guard right in the neck. Of course, Tormeta did not count on the spear, which she struck at the same time she got within arms reach of the guard. Knocked unconcious by the charge, she dropped to the ground, not to rise for at least twenty minutes.

Soybayun's vision finally cleared and she looked out into the hallway, spotting the vampire on the floor and the guard, having never been struck by the attack the spear prevented, standing near the body. Naturally, Soybayun assumed the two were in this together, but said nothing. She would deal with this later.

It is considered bad taste to announce the completion of a project and use the fruits of the research in a Thread you already started RPing in...

It takes time to design a missile system, as well as the payload. Your multiple payload and delevery system is overy complicated and most likely would take decades to invent and produce. Not much time for a couple minutes of hand to hand combat you don't know about in character within a section of someone else's base. That is not taking into account the research, develepment, and implimentation of the detection system too. All within five NS minutes.

It's no wonder Siesatia called Godmod.

Posted from HERE (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=383729)

Crystal walked over to where Tormeta lay, stunned from the bardiche. She carefully extended her senses to “feel” the mind of the unconscious vampire. The mind was completely at rest, stunned into submission. She wasn’t going to do anything for a while.

Chrystal walked over and knelt next to the undead. She reached out her hands and touched Tormeta on both temples. Chrystal established a contact with Tormeta’s mind and began to establish subliminal controls in order to command Tormeta in case she gets away again. The commands would make her docile and diminish the hunt instinct.

Suddenly an explosion rocked the storeroom, sending crates and supply bins flying in every direction. One of the crates hit a groggy Soybayun, knocking her prone again. The concussion of the explosion tossed the Siesatian guard and Chrystal to the floor, stunned for several minutes.

Tormeta rose into a crouch and looked about her. She say the guard and the two women lying unconscious. She began to advance towards them when the inner voice reminded her about the prey. Hungrily she turned and ran off.

Several minutes later Soybayen stirred, her alien body accustomed to such rough treatment allowed her to recover quicker. She ran over to the other two. Tossing aside a crate that partially covered him, she roused the guard. Then she went over to where Chrystal lay. The young lady was only stunned and woke easily. She looked around trying to locate Tormeta.

“Shit, where did she go?”

“I don’t know. I only saw you two when I came to.”

Chrystal ran off towards the one lone corridor leaving the storeroom. A little way down the hallway there was a door ripped off its hinges.

“Dammit, the explosion must have damaged the doorframe enough for Tormeta to be able to pry it open. Hey, find out what happened and let Command know Tormeta got away. “

The guard grabbed his radio and spoke into it for a few moments.

“It seems Cherry Ridge fired upon the base. The storeroom was the target but the bunker withstood most of the damage. There was minor collateral damage reported.”

Chrystal was pissed. Her eyes turned black and were obscured with shadow, turning them into pits of darkness. A red aura of energy flared into existence surrounding her body. When she spoke, her voice echoed within the minds of those near her.

“The damn cardinal will pay for his treachery in more way than one. He
“The damn cardinal will pay for his treachery in more way than one. He
better hope, no, he better pray Tormeta reaches him first.”
better hope, no, he better pray Tormeta reaches him first.”

Chrystal walked off in the general direction of the Cherry Ridge representative’s quarters. Rubble lying upon the floor moved out of the way or was flung across the room by the aura as Chrystal walked unheeding across the room. She deeply hoped for his sake Tormeta did find him first. It would be easier upon him.

OOC: Due to the attack and subsequent events, I pretty much have counted CR as NPC.

Oh, and the one in this post is not the Cardinal of CR. Tormeta was following the smell of his shampoo, which also lingers on his hat. Soybayun has somewhat blurred eyesight from the concussion.

IC:

To Tormeta, the freedom was refreshing. She was still groggy, but before here now was the way she needed. She had pried open a door before heading the opposite direction, taking advantage of her knowledge of electronics and her immense strength to rip open one of the walls and splice the wires together, forcing the door to open. Then, following her nose, she picked the direction that led to the Cardinal.

An hour later, Soybayun, who had been trying to find the Command, had managed to get herself lost instead. It was to her surprise she heard sobbing, and even more so when she turned the corner and discovered Tormeta, kneeling over the Cardinal's still-breathing body and, despite the blood on her face and hands, looking more like a scared girl than the monster she had become earlier. Tormeta was hugging her knees and sobbing, a flashlight lying beside her to provide light.

"I see you're less of what you were. Explain what happened," Soybayun said.

"I... I lost... lost control. Total control. Just this... this hunger. Just wanted to feed. Now, now, now look at me," Tormeta said.

"I see. You left him still alive. His death by your hands would have been more merciful than the fate that awaits him. So, what do we do now?" Soybayun asked.

"I... I can't go home to my family like this. Please, look after my daughter. Her name is Orbez," Tormeta said.

"I will," Soybayun said, sitting down beside Tormeta and hugging her close. How many hours passed before they were found, neither knew. The Cardinal, now infected with the same virus as Tormeta and doomed to a horrible fate, lay peacefully unconcious, his temperature slightly elevated as his immune system tried desperately to fight the changes going on inside him.

It was a random Siesatian patrol that found the three, surprised to see the vampire subdued and willing to come along peacefully. Instead of the terrifying monster who had killed several in a blood rage, she was now that same scared girl from Harashi who joined the military because it was the only place she could earn enough pay for herself and her daughter. But, the blood on her body, corpses, unconcious Cardinal, and bruises suffered by many spoke to what she had been.

Chrystal, we have Tormeta and the Cardinal. At least, I think it's him. Has the Cardinal's hat, but the clothes are different. Siesatians found us. Tormeta has returned to her normal self, though she has much to answer for. I'm not happy we had to find out what she is capable of this way.

"Where are you? I have some questions I want to ask the Cardinal about his attack”

“I think we are…”

“Never mind, I have a tracing lock on your location. I can now find you where ever you are as long as I keep the lock active.”

Chrystal appeared a few minutes later still glowing with her rage. The Siesatian guards gripped their weapons tighter at the first sight of her in fear.

“Um, madam, we have the DLE fugitive under control. The situation has been resolved so…”

“I don’t want Tormeta. I want him!”
“I don’t want Tormeta. I want him!”

Chrystal pointed at the unconscious form, her arm dancing with crimson flames.

“He is under our protection…”

“I have questions to ask him and I will make him answer them. He will pay for what he has done. I had Tormeta under control when

he or someone he represents ordered that stupid attack. He will be held accountable.”

“CHRYSTAL!”

Soybayun was standing now and shouting at her. That made her stop and listen for a second.

“He already has been made fully accountable. If he hadn’t allowed Tormeta to get away, she would not have attacked him and infected him.”

Soybayun now stood between the Ta’Nar and the cardinal. Her height forcing Chrystal to look away from the cardinal’s sleeping form, allowing Chrystal to calm down a bit.

“As bigoted as he is, he is now one of those people Cherry Ridge persecutes. He is now a vampire and most likely has a talent for supernatural magic provided he is properly trained. Since there is nobody left in his nation who would be willing to admit their expertise in magic, he will have to either come to one of our schools to learn or try it on his own. Either way he will die by his own laws or he will change them. Think what that means to his country and what we have been trying to do here.”

The Psychic energies subsided as Chrystal thought over what Soybayun said. It was true, things have changed forever in Cherry Ridge. There was no going back now. It was also worse this way because the "wonderful" Cardinal will either have to make changes or he will have to live the life of the persecuted ones. It is fitting but less than what she was going to do to him.

“You are right, and he is damn lucky.”

The Siesatian guards walked forward, and brought out a small device, and placed it on her neck. The effects were immediate, she lost most of her motor controls, and was caught before she hit the ground.

They carried her to the brig, and sat her down on the bed. Upon leaving, a powershield activated, leaving the Tormeta alone, and isolated from the rest of the base.

It was not long before Syphera reached the brig.

"Tormeta, I would like an explination." She said, quietly, but forcefully.

Tormeta sniffed, and began to tell her the entire series of events, leading up to the biting of the cardinal. She was upset by it all, and even explained what had happened to her.

Syphera sat down next to her.

"Well, I don't think you have much of a problem here." She smiled,

"What... What do you mean?"

"Under Siesatian law, you're free to go."

"How, I... I murdered..."

"While under the influence of a dangerous virus, I also can't charge you for a crime when there is no evidence."

"What?"

"Sensors were down the entire time, with only a handful of witnesses. You have no case against you in my country, however, I am unfamiliar with your own laws, you will be turned over to DLE authorities when they get here. I just hope your own laws are similar to my own."

The cardinal wore a hat at one time and the smell of his shampoo was transferred to it. The hat is what Tormeta was tracking due to the smell of the shampoo. Whoever was wearing the hat, which could be worn by anyone who had access to his quarters. A perfect way out for the Cardinal.

The line about him being in another country because of Christmas seems to be an excuse. The last posts you made are below:

These are the posts from the last three pages. You mever mentioned he was out of the country. The last time you stated an action was in post #459 where he ran back inside the base. The base was locked down immediately afterwards so you should not have been able to sneak out without being seen. I see no posts declairing the leaving of your Cardinal.

The whole hat thing was a DLE way for you to have an option out of the Cardinal to get out of being infected. Someone who was wearing his hat (and the smell of his shampoo) was the target of the hunt.

Another thing. The signing of the treaty (two NS days ago at most) did not take place during the winter. We would not have held the signing two days before Christmas. I was under the impression it was during the spring.

If I am wrong then I will admit it and apologize. I also have went under the assumption that it was the Cardinal lying there because of what Soybayun said. Please reread the posts if you do not believe me.

He left the country in another thread. One which Siesatia saw, and tagged. He then came back, and then left again. Either way, Siesatia knew he was gone for part of the time.

Also, the Cardinal left the Island, and I said so. It was the diplomat that was still on the island.

The person that ran inside the base was the diplomat as well.

OOC: CR, this entire series of events has led you to being PermaGNORED by me. You are one of two people on that list. The only other person on it is a known spammer and also responsible for the current beef between myself and DA.

Oh, remember that Soybayun's mental processes are not clear. Her thoughts about Siesatians are pretty much a result of permanent brain damage and will never be reversed.

And, can anyone say which now-famous DLE official is Tormeta's daughter? She was also the one who was in the ESUS trial.

IC:

It was hours later before Soybayun arrived at the Siesatian brig to take Tormeta into custody. During that time she had been trying to calm down her fleet. They were not only ignoring communications from the surface, but were directly attacking CR. The CR military, unprepared for this rapid of an attack, were being quickly slaughtered by the DLE ships. From all reports, the CR government did not survive the first assault, the capital city having been hit by 50 torpedos and bombs at once.

Soybayun herself, shaking her head to clear her vision a bit, was not entirely trusting of the Siesatian evidence. She was sure they were hiding something or would use some excuse to keep Tormeta locked up. Or, if they let Tormeta go, that they were hoping she'd slaughter the DLE soldiers. She wasn't surprised when Tormeta was turned over to her custody.

"Tormeta, normally the slaughter I witnessed would be enough for a death penalty. But, the virus. You will be required to be studied so we can get to know this new virus and how it spreads. But I cannot do more than that," Soybayun said, looking into Tormeta's eyes to make sure she wasn't going to turn animal on them again.

She just hoped, as she led her crewmember back out of the base, that things would soon be under control.
