Decisive Action

He seemed quite pleased with the answer, he couldn't stand Mississippian weather, much too hot for him, the cold would be a welcome change, "So, you want to call your family now, I'll go get the phone..."

He walked over and took a nearby phone off the charger and then walked back and handed it to her, "Just dial the outgoing code, 001, before you dial the number, and watch what you say, the DIS monitors all foreign phone calls."

She accepted it and dialed her parent’s number, it rung twice before someone picked up. It was her mother, who upon hearing her daughter’s voice, asked, “Aiwendil, it’s good to talk to you. You haven’t called lately.”

She smiled and said, “Yeah, everything’s great, I’m going to bring a friend of mine over, all right? Expect us in a couple of hours, all right?”

Her mother agreed, and they told each other goodbye before Aiwendil hung up. “All right, they know we’re coming.”

Fritz nodded his head, smiling, "Very good? Should we pack and head to the airport then?"
Eldanor

She nodded. “Yes, they’ll be expecting us, I don’t want to keep them waiting.”

He nodded his head, "Good, let's leave right away then, I'll grab a suitcase and we can head right on out, so we're not late. Shall we then?"

He walked over to the wall and spoke through an intercom, asking a servant, "Would you please get the bags I keep packed for trips on short notice and put them in the car in the driveway, thank you."

She nodded and smiled. “All right, I’ll just get my luggage.” She grabbed her bags.

Fritz carried her bags for her and set them in the car, then he got the door and helped her get in.

A few hours later, after a rather uneventful plane ride, except when they were over international waters and were being shadowed for nearly an hour by a flight of four foreign MiG-23s, which were promptly shot down by a lone MiG-41 that arrived on the scene from Fabus Island, having done Mach 4.2 the entire time to get there.

Fritz stepped off the plane and helped her down the stairs, still smiling and somewhat in awe at the performance of the MiG-41. He set her bags in the waiting car and then said, "Wow, did you see that, it got all four of them like it was nothing, eh?"

“Oh, yes, very amazing, somewhat exciting, too,” she said, grinning.
Decisive Action
10-01-2005, 03:32
He smiled, "Yeah, I could have told those MiG-23s they were no match for a MiG-41, even if there were a dozen MiG-23s, they're still no match for just one MiG-41."

She nodded. “That’s quite interesting. Why do you think they were following us?”

He shook his head, a hint of disgust and contempt for those he suspected, "Brazilians... I'd wager it was Brazilians... I'd bet anything it was either Brazilians, Cubans, or a power very friendly with them."
Eldanor
10-01-2005, 04:14
“Do Brazilians and Cubans dislike Mississippians, then? I’m not too familiar with either.”
Decisive Action
10-01-2005, 04:22
Fritz chuckled a bit, "Oh yes of course, they hate us. The Cubans hate us because we killed thousands of their best soldiers in the 1984 Civil War. Not only that but throughout the rest of the eighties, we would periodically bomb Havana or other parts of Cuba, just to rub it in that we beat their armies..." He frowned, "And to let them know we weren't going to forget, or forgive, any of their atrocities against our civilian population from the early eighties..."

He then moved on to Brazil, smiling a bit, "Ah, Brazil... I suppose it's only natural for them to hate us, after all, it took them over ten years to fully recover from our nuclear attack against Brasilia, their capital city. And the whole ten plus year war between Mississippian and Brazil. Nobody really benefited from it except those who sold weapons or other supplies. It just left most of Brazil in ruins and many Mississippians fed up over their guerilla tactics, which is why the Premier was forced into devastating their capital city with nuclear weapons."

Fritz sighed a bit, recalling the war, the war he had been in, "Brazil, it was a mess... Just a mess. And sadly, unlike Russia, we didn't help Brazil rebuild after beating them. Although like Russia, we never had any intention of occupation, and we left Brazil very shortly after the war ended. Although in retrospect, the war could have been so easily avoided had it not been for just a few misunderstandings."

“Ah, I see, revenge, possibly?” She pondered over all of this for several moments.

He nodded his head quickly, "Oh yeah, revenge, they won't let anything go..."

She nodded, then glanced at her watch for the time. “We should get there pretty soon,” Aiwendil commented, as she looked out the car window. The buildings of the city were quickly changing into suburban houses and rolling green hills.

He nodded his head, "Ah, so just keep going straight for now then?" He glanced out the window for a few seconds, "This is such a lovely countryside, truly a great photo opportunity."

“I know, it’s quite beautiful. I loved spending my childhood here, although the city is nice, too,” she said, smiling.
Decisive Action
12-01-2005, 04:33
He smiled back, "The most beautiful city I've ever seen, well really more of a large town, was Fabus City on Fabus Island, about niney thousand people live there, and it was built using Victorian architecture, it looks best in the spring. It is rather nice and quiet because it's so spread out and so few people live there, compared to say Biloxi or Jackson City. There are nearly one hundred million people in Jackson City and forty million in Biloxi."

Fritz frowned a bit, "Don't even get me started on Gulfport, pollution and smog make it unbearable... But Fabus City remains spotless and the waters are sparkling clean."

“Well, I’d have to say the capitol is quite beautiful indeed, the palace and the grounds around it especially. Yes, the palace is truly a great work of art,” Aiwendil said, remembering the last time she’d been there.

He smiled, "Ah, so tell me, can anybody go to the palace or is it closed to tourists?"
Eldanor
13-01-2005, 00:10
She shook her head. “It’s closed to tourists, unfortunately. The Empress lives a very solitary lifestyle.”

He frowned a bit, "Ah, I see. Well perhaps someday we can get invited, maybe we can accompany the Czar or he might pick me as a Federal envoy to Eldanor, and you could be my guest..."
Eldanor
13-01-2005, 01:06
She smiled. “I’d sure like that.”
Decisive Action
13-01-2005, 01:28
Fritz nodded his head, "I'll see if I can pull some strings and get an assignment that will get us a chance to see the Palace, it would be nice, from what I've heard about it, there are extensive gardens and forests that make excellent photo opportunities."
Eldanor
13-01-2005, 01:51
She nodded. “Yes, those gardens are very famous. The flowers come from all over the world and there are marvelous fountains of polished stone. And in the forests, the trees grow larger then most you’ll ever see.”
Decisive Action
13-01-2005, 02:19
He chuckled a bit, "Well I've seen some pretty big trees, Curtis had a few grown at Stalingrad that were about five hundred feet tall."
Eldanor
13-01-2005, 02:21
“Well, these are completely natural, they go on for miles in all directions, and they’ve got to be more then five hundred feet tall.”
Decisive Action
13-01-2005, 02:34
He was clearly impressed, his eyes showed it, "Wow, I... I'll have to get some pictures of those..."
Eldanor
13-01-2005, 02:37
She smiled. “I’ve never seen them personally, but they’ve been featured in a few documentaries and you can often see the treetops.”
Decisive Action
14-01-2005, 01:05
Fritz nodded his head, visibly interested, "Ah, well after I call in a few favors, perhaps we'll get to see them up close, eh?"
Eldanor
14-01-2005, 01:30
“I’m sure it would be quite an experience.”
Decisive Action
14-01-2005, 03:33
He chuckled a bit, "Of course it will sure require the best of my talent for nagging to get people to agree to let the favors be called in. Many government officials just don't like to be nagged about things involving foreign nations. But I'll manage it."
Eldanor
15-01-2005, 02:46
“Why don’t they liked to be nagged about those kind of things?”
Decisive Action
15-01-2005, 03:14
He sighed, "I guess they just don't like having to bother foreign nations, since foreign nations often seem to dislike us."
