The Hunt Begins... Neo-Mekanta tracks Germanische Zustande (OPEN)

-The Dead Zone

Minagoroshi's patience was near infinate as she experimented with the temporal shift weapon modification needed to crush the UFGZ once and for all. She knew, however, to defeat the UFGZ she would need to find them.

A simple problem, with a simple solution.

She knew where Normandeicht was. After all, it was a Neo-Mekantan attack with Mekantan vessels that sparked the war between the UFGZ and ESUS.

But the problem were the other planets. She knew from information gained from ESUS while under Mekanta that the UFGZ had worlds other than Normandeicht.

Those worlds would have to be found... and destroyed.

It was this drive to eradicate the UFGZ that pushed the Zircon, Minagoroshi's near-mindless minions. They had thought, to an extent. But they were eternally bound to the will of Minagoroshi. And when Minagoroshi created thousands of scoutships to track down UFGZ ships and systems by any means, they obeyed.

Twelve thousand Zircon scoutships jumped away from the Deadzone...
A systematic sweep of the galaxy had begun...

Alright. Basicly, if you want to stumble across a Zircon ship, or have one stumble upon your system, just post. ^_^

The Zircon ships will scan first, and only attack if they're attacked first. But be careful. They'll call in support if they're threatened...

Gateway was a pleasant planet. Basked in the gentle rays of a class K3 primary and a dim class M secondary four light hours out from the primary, although it was barely visible from Gateway itself.

Second Lieutenant Harold Smith of the Xessmithian Planetary Defense Force was at his deepspace scanner post watching as his screen reported nothing and even more nothing.

"Want some coffee Harold?" Asked his co-worker, another Second Lieutenant, Kilian Cook. "There's nothing going on out there," he groaned, "And I need some fresh air."

"See you when you get back Kilian." Harold added brightly. He strecthed out and put his feet on the console, his holo-display projecting on his boots.

He glanced at his now elevated feet, there was something stuck to his boot. He brushed it off, or tried to anyway. He brushed again in annoyance, then it hit him. It was a sensor contact. He fumbled around for the microphone, "This Second Lieutanant Smith from Gateway Deep Space Observatory calling Gateway Command."

"This is Gateway Command Lieutenant, what have you got?" Answered the gruff voice.

"A contact sir. Looks like it's 2 light-hours out at bearing 176 degrees ecliptic ,negative 23 degrees declination." Harold reported quickly.

"Good job son. We'll send a corvette to go check it out." Gateway command signaled back, "Gateway Command out."

Harold sighed and slumped in his chair and stared at the contact as it moved in system. Kilian came back in.

"So, did I miss anything?" He asked.

"No," Harold answered, "Not a thing." He smiled on the inside.

ooc: Well, as for the "Most certainly post tomorrow" bit, I apologize. I was distracted. So... when I get time, (hopefully tonight) I will deal with a scout ship which will have undoubtably been dispatched to Normandeicht.

Actually, the Zircon already know about Normandeicht, so they wouldn't have to go there.

They're looking for your other systems. But they've also been scouting out suitable systems for Zircon expansion for two months, RLT, now. ^_^

"Sir, an unkown object just appeared out-system. Twenty-point-four light-minutes exactly."

The outpost commander uttered an oath under his breath.

"Take the station to Alert Level Two! Get an analysis on that thing right away. Activate the Defense Grid..."

The experienced officer continued yelling his orders, somehow fitting all those words into one breath.

The bridge stood still. All eyes stood fixed on the screen as the analysis readout appeared.

"It's Neo-Mekantan."

"Damnit to hell. How in the Ancestors' Name did they find a Federal System?"

No one breathed. They watched as the small vessel searched out the system.

"Sir, it must be destroyed," came a shout.

"No, it's already located us," another pierced the silence.

"We shall do nothing. It may send signals for aid if we attack."

Silence. Boiling heat. Pounding, pounding, beating, thumping... Fear permeated the bridge. No Federal troop assigned to an outpost expected to encounter an enemy ship. This was terribly frightening. Both in the possibility of losing their lives, and the possible discovery of the Federation.

"Commander, should I notify Fleet Command?"

"Encode, Priority Alpha Quantum Communication. Begin."

A Neo-Mekantan scout vessel has entered into Outpost System 119. We have not engaged target vessel. It does not appear hostile, although, it may use previously observed 'teleporting' technology to call in reinforcements. Awaiting further orders.

"I suppose then," someone whispered, "Our era of peace will have been short-lived indeed."

Merry Christmas, GZ. Here's your present.

-IC-

The scoutship hung motionless at the edge of the system, monitoring the activity inside before the Zircon Hivemind finalized the analysis.

This was what they were looking for. A UFGZ Star System...

Shortly after the analysis, a small Zircon battlegroup jumped in, fifteen Battleships and a Deathship.

They remained still, however, as the Scoutship moved forward slightly. For agonizing minutes they waited, then doing something unexpected.

They sent a message...

ATTENTION GERMANISCHE ZUSTANDE DOGS!!

At the outskirts of the Nova Kretani Star System, a lone Heavy Cruiser was in the middle of its three month mission of patrol. The Commander on-board had just finished his daily breakfast with the Command Crew, and enjoyed a nice conversation therein. This certian Commander was Lieutenant General John Falcon, and his ship he commanded was the ACH Liberty.

Second-in-Command Colonel Geraldo Konshi had just came onto the Command Deck as the sensors flashed with a contact, a new contact. He looked to Lt. General Falcon, nodding as Falcon shown he understood with a light wave of his hand, and proceeded to check with the Sensors Officer.

"What do we have, Lieutenant," asked Colonel Konshi to the Sensors Officer.

"It looks as if we have a new entry into our system," started the Lieutenant, "and from the specs its an Unknown ship, possibly scout."

Konshi nodded and went around the bridge, checking with the Officers here and there, coming back to the center of the bridge where the Commanders Seat was stationed on-top of a platform there.

"Sir," started Konshi to General Falcon, "unknown ship, unknown specs. Sesnory Officer thinks it might be a scout, but with this galaxy you just don't know."

Lt. General John Falcon nodded to his Second-in-Command, looking towards the Communications Officer. "Send a message," he started, "and ask why their here." John turned to Tactical, "Keep shields and weapons at minimum, don't want to start anything."

"Aye, aye sir," came the response.

Message from the Anagonian Heavy Cruiser Liberty

Attention unknown ship:

You have entered space controlled and owned by the Star Republic of Anagonia. Herein it is requested that you identify yourself.

If you fail to comply we will be forced to take extreme measures.

Lt. General Falcon looked to Colonel Konshi, "Neo-Mekanta?"

"Aye," responded Konshi, "thats what the transmission said."

"Huh, I believe that name is familiar...no, allow them to stay. Perhaps we could get some information from them."

Colonel Konshi nodded, and went back to the Commander's Deck.

Transmission from the Anagonian Heavy Cruiser Liberty

In the interest of relations between the Star Republic and this...Neo-Mekanta, it is requested that you stay as-is. Perhaps a meeting can take place between us to determin if...possible assistance can be loaned in this hunt, or perhaps to allow InterGalactic Relations between our two Sovereign Powers.

We leave the decision up to you, but welcome you to our space.

The Scoutship hangs motionless, appearing to deliberate what to do, until an energy spike can be easily detected from the vessel.

The scoutship's form begins to distort and stretch, spines becomming flat surfaces which sprout more spines, until the vessel is over six kilometers long, a Zircon Deathship.

The large Carrier stays motionless a while longer before sending a reply.

WE AGREE TO MEET. THE ZIRCON HIVEMASTER XAETHRIAL HAS MANIFESTED ABOARD THIS SHIP. DO YOU WISH TO MEET HERE OR UPON ONE OF YOUR OWN ASSETS?

John Falcons jaw dropped as the transformation occured, and the entire Command Crew stopped whatever they were doing as a huge, massive object formed before their eyes. Lt. General Falcon didn't know what to make of the move, until he heard the reply transmission. Everyone on the Command Deck literally sighed in relief, knowing that they didn't have ANYTHING to take out something like that.

Falcon nodded to his Second-in-Command, Colonel Geraldo Konshi, and sat back as he took a deep breath in, having some relief from the reply recieved.

Transmission from the Anagonian Heavy Cruiser Liberty

It would be greatly beneficial for us to meet you on your ship, as a sign of Good-Will. The Commander of this vessel has agreed to such terms of meeting, and will gladly begin any talks or possible exchanges of peaceful subjects.

With thanks,
Colonel Geraldo Konshi

Hive Fleet Imodius

approximatly 5km behind the newly appeared warship appeared a small 40 meter long organic vessel - easily described as a huge cuttlefish its winds whimmerd as it propelled itself through space hopefully towards its intended source of food - it had been tracking a radiation trail for several weeks and was hoping to finally get a feed.
As yet it was totally unequiped to harvest pure energy from a star nor did it have the knowledge to crack open a planet <nor the strenth> and hunt down radioactive materials.
Since it was a hatchling it had devoured a radiation dumping site on the edge of the asteroid belt it called its home - untill it became more intregued about the hive collective and wanderd out into space. The young norn queen moved towards the large vessel its tenticles probing and collecting any radiation it could attain from the vessels vapour trail unfortunatly this was limited. As the larger vessel slowed to a halt it failed to notice its surroundings and practically bumbled into the ship, paniking slightly plasma flared in its maw as it roared into the silence of space making no sound.
It floated looking at the metal contained that held its feast. 2 fusion reactors, enough to feed it for weeks.

Tranmission from the Anagonian Heavy Cruiser Liberty

Neo-Mekantan vessel, it has appeared to us that a hostile vessel has entered our system. Please maintain a safe distance from this area, we are about to engage and do not seek to harm your ship.

If you could help with this strange creature, any assistance would be desired.

END TRANSMISSION

The ACH Liberty groaned under the stress of turning its massive hull, its Electro-Magentic Shields coming to full power. A beautiful bubble of what seemed to be blue static surrounded the Liberty for a few seconds, before it setteled into full charge. The massive frontal cannons swirved on their platforms, aiming for the fishlike creature that showed hostile action. Ten launching tubes in the front of the ship opened, 50 Mega-Ton Hydrogen-Warhead Tipped Torpedoes were placed in the ready. The two Ion Cannons started to light up intensly as they, too, charged.

"Battle-stations online, sir."

"Good," replied Lt. General John Falcon to the Tactical Officer, looking to his Second-in-Command and all the Command Crew. "Launch torpedoes before that thing gets any closer."

"Aye, General."

In an instant a glare of ten bright flashes streamed from ten tubes in the front of the ship, all launching one by one, their homing computers locked onto the fish-like target.
Hive Fleet Imodius
26-12-2004, 22:55
The creature stopped, looking intreagued by the flashed of colour spiraling towards it, was it about to be fed? It didnt truly understand untill a deep subconcious voice - the voice of the hive spoke to it for the first time.

"Run"

Feeling a little shocked it turned spiraling in space avoiding all of the torpedoes as it arched through space - the torpedo's had locked on however and spiraled around behind it comming back for a second run. The creature was a little stunned by what had happend. Then the torpedo's struck it slamming into its rear - it had thought it had succesfully evaded them, it was wrong.

ooc> Details of damage type of these torpedo's please :) I will post damage based on that - not sure if you have fired at a hive ship before.

A ship plunged from the warp and began its scans
"As you anticipated, my Lord; Massings of ships in this area....And..." They paused as the scanners detected the Hive Fleet.
"The great Devourer..."
"Indeed. My lord; your orders?"

Minagoroshi, the Great Will behind the Zircon and, directly or indirectly, all other Neo-Mekantan factions, watched intently through the "eyes" of the Zircon Deathship and the Zircon Hivelord on board.

She recognized the basic design nature of the... thing. She had all the information of Mekanta before the failed attempt at the Second Cataclysm, and knew of Mekanta's attempted dealings with the "Hive Fleet Imodius," the only nation Mekanta, and thus Neo-Mekanta, knew of to use fully organic ships...

The ghostly holographic avatar of Minagoroshi smiled as she leaned back in the imposing black throne she had created formed from the "cells" that made up the entire planet, the Worldfleet Armada around it, and the Zircon themselves. This could be... advantageous...

-Anagonian System

The Zircon Deathship watched the battle intently as the spines started to bristle, the internal hangers preparing to launch a menacing Fighter Swarm if things got out of control and its plan failed.

Please stand down all weapons. Attention organic vessel. We wish peaceful communication. Are you of the... Hive Fleet Imodius...?

"And yet we have not encountered the devourer swarm for many years."
"Indeed; the Emperor had thought that the Tyranid invasions had ceased."
"Then he is mistaken; again my friend, we watch....We wait....This could be an interesting opportunity. The Dark Gods have smiled on us"
