A newsreader, well slicked and well spoken is interviewing a tattered looking academic type on live TV. The newsreader begins by introducing the show and guest.

"This in the noqtuiteaplace news show, I am Roger Fury and this is Robert Mimber an ex government weapons scientist. He has an interesting story to tell. Tell me Robert, why did you lose your job?"

The scientist looks visibly agitated for a moment and awnsers.

" Because I wish the people to know about our new weapons, I told a newspaper, and was sacked. Notquiteaplace has a 120 billion Archipelago credit research project, thats $200bn USD for those of you watching in other nations. And 70% of it is going on one project and a few smaller projects associated with it."

"Now Robert, one big project, how long has it been running? How long will it go on? What is it? I am sure the viewers wish to know it all."

"Well put simply we are researching crude powered armour. Mobile suits that come in two varieties. Small armour, which is still vulnerable at the joints and eyes, but doesnt reduce mobility and only increases profile slightly, and larger suits, which will be bullet proof all over, and in stronger cases perhaps be able to resist one or two other weapons, like small caliber cannon and the like.

Obviously the entire army will be altered as a result, These suits will be expensive, will require a technician per squad, and a fuel and general maintenance one too. This will mean that our one million man mechanised infantry will be reduced greatly and replaced by a much smaller number of these suits.

The side projects include making smaller AFDSABOT rounds to counter any enemy using this armour. I mean a 50mm shell will laugh at the strongest armour on the largest suit, but we want the suits to be able to carry a weapon which can function like an assault rifle. But bigger. APCs will need redesigning and so on..."

"Fascinating, and what proof do you have about this?"
*photos go on screen as the scientist replies*

"Well, these photos show early suits, note that they are just frames now, moving crudely. We have the power in the engines, we are just trying to increase the responsiveness of the armour. Make it more like a second skin that follows the wearer's movements closely. This will be the longest part of developement and once complete it will be the simple matter of final designs and testing. However it will be a few years before they finish this yet. Plus the ability to shrink a reactor down is something we have had for a while, but have never done. So thats going to take a little practice too."

"Well this a disturbing peice of news. Lets hope its used for the good of our nation only then. This is Roger Fury signing out".

OOC: This will not be instated for ages, yes I did nick the idea off another thread, which died, NQP decided on seeing these suits of armour it would make its own.

They will cost from $40000 for the light armoured suits to $1.8mil for the larger suits and will infact bar the small $400000 model be bullet proof. Larger weapons will vary in effect. For instance missiles will instantly destroy them, grenades will vary from punching a large hole and incapacitating the wearer to stunning him, depending on where hit (whether the armour is strong or weak) how far they are from said grenade and the suit. (a grenade landing right next to the leg of any suit is likely to cripple the wearer) and cannon, which depending on the caliber where hit and the range, will vary ie a 20mm shell at long range on strong point is likely to do little more than dent even the lightest suit, while the same shell at point blank on a weak spot will at least have enough energy to cut the wearer a bit in even the heaviest armour.

Larger calibers will significantly increase the damage. ie a 50mm shell will almost definately do something to the suit, while anything bigger will just result in a large mess.

Finnally this does effectively make me "Post modern" however the point of this is that any conventional army can defeat them, it might take a bit more effort, but they arent going to be cheap to build or run, so I will have less. So Im staying in MT. I have Orange state for proper space tech.

If anyone has a serious problem with them I will have a MT army list ready, but it wont be all that different to this one. I may gradually slightly advance other tech, but right now my nation could be considered cutting edge MT and has a frightening economy. Any advances I make will not betoo far ahead and will not amke my units invincible or unstoppable, maybe slightly more efficient etc, but I just want to RP something a bit different to a convenetional RL army.

The government denies all knowledge of such devices for military application, though they may be useful for certain dangerous accident situations.

If we were to test such things we would prefer to keep them secret and would not admit to them anyway as this would lessen the edge it goves us.

OOC: *bump* for more people to read. Any comments? Any official responses? And just to clarify. ICly I deny this, OOCly I am actually doing this research.

OOC: bump again.... and for what will probably be the last time. Until the technology is unveiled.
