A smile sat plainly on Emperor Alexander II's pale face as his golden state coach rolled through the streets of the imperial capital of Corva, drawn by a team of 18 horses. The streets were lined with well wishers, wanting to catch a glimpse of the man that god had appointed to rule them, the man that had just recently celebrated his eighteenth birthday, and the birth of his son.
He turned to his bride, Empress Anne, and ran a hand through her fair tresses, "I'd say the Grand Curia was pleased with my new appointments."
"I'd hope," she replied, "considering the fact that two out of fifteen Justices actually dared to question a new Imperial Educt on Serfdom."
"Yes, I-" but his reply was cut short by a great BANG! as if the very streets had been cleaved in two. The Empress screamed, fainting from amazment; and just as this happened, Alexander noticed the carriage lost two of its wheel and was tipped.
Quickly, the Emperor climbed out of the coach, carrying his limp bride. Two Ladies in Waiting rushed down the street to take Her Majesty (they had ridden in a carriage preceding His Majesty's).
Alexander noticed, as he handed her away, that most of his honor guardsmen (selected from the Imperial Guard) were now gathering about him; he also saw that the street was torn apart: a bomb had exploded.
A second explosion rocked the ground, and a few guards even lost footing as the second bomb went off, followed by gunshots. "Get the Empress back to the palace. Captain, tell your men to fire at once." the Emperor commanded, just as nearly 18 armed figures came into view, robed in black, and carrying assault rifles. Several of the men (6) fired, screaming "Liberate the Serfs!" and "Destroy the Emperor!" but they were no sooner cut down by a backlash from the honor guard.
People were fleeing in every direction, and it could be seen that even a few civilians had died in the blast. "Damn." the Emperor muttered.

"Good evening, and welcome to Channel 7 news, Tharra's first in national updates." Said a thin, dark reporter, "I'm Mathilde Seger. A breaking update! Today, while making his way back from a meeting with the Grand Curia, our beloved, and God appointed, Emperor was attacked...by terrorists. The group planted several bombs, and even fired shots. Luckily, only a few subjects were killed and injured, and no one in the imperial party. Of the 18 terrorists, 6 were killed by the Imperial Honor Guard, and the rest detained by them.
"The Arch Chancellor has just released a statement, which we'll go live to now..."
A tall, ruddy man can be seen in state robes, addressing a crowd of dignitaries in the Hall of State. "His Imperial Majesty has asked me to inform you that the situation is under control. The would-be terrorists attacked, attempting to seize power. Their foolish attempts have of course prooved as futile as they are. Several of the terrorists were run-away-serfs, and the entire motive behind the attack was to promote the unethical, let alone absurd, idea of 'Emancipation of the Serfs'. As we all know, this preposterous; As one of the surviving members is a serf, he has been shot at once, on orders of his master, the Count zu Hergei. The others have had their rights to a trial by the Grand Curia waved, and will be judged by the Emperor and his Arch-Court alone..."
Cheers quickly followed, along with shouts of "God Save the Emperor."
