Yr Widdfa

‘This is WBC (Widdfae Broadcasting Company) reporting. The polls are closed ladies and gentlemen and it’s been a close and hard fought race. After receiving the endorsement of a number of foreign leaders, Sean O’Brian gained a major boost in popularity. At the end of the day though, the numbers fell out like this. Prince Elphin MacGwiddno carried 15% of the vote, in spite of carrying a majority in his home territory of Gwenedd. He was just too harsh it seems for the people of Yr Widdfa to accept. Sean O’Brian carried 37% of the vote, but was beaten out by Gwalcmai O’Shay, whose popularity could not be overcome. He wins with 48% of the vote.
‘Mr. O’Brian accepted his loss quite gracefully. “I believe our nation has a strong leader in Duke Gwalcmai. I think he will lead us on to great things and he has my full support.”
‘Prince Elphin, however, was less willing to accept defeat. Speaking to a group of his supporters this afternoon he said, “This ought to teach the people of Gwenedd that their voice is not heard in Yr Widdfa!” In a rather uncalled for shot at Mr. O’Brian, MacGwiddno remarked, “It seems they would rather have an Irishman leading them than one of their own blood!”
'The new Duke Gwalcmai informed WBC that he was concidering Mr. O'Brian for the position of Prime Minister due to his management skills. He made nothing official but that seems to be his likely choice. As for the other positions, we have heard nothing.'
‘There were protests staged in several Gweneddi cities today. Police were called in to keep the demonstrators under control, with limited success. No one has yet been hurt, but the situation remains tense.’
'The transistion between administrations will take place once the situation in Parthia has calmed enough to bring Widdfae and Gweneddi troops home. This is Rhys ap Adam reporting.'
