The International Space Exploration Coalition space program - Sign up now!

ISEC, is sending a international message to all nations, wondering if they are interested in starting a space program together. Which means no race to be the first, saving money, getting better engines and other material. Share is the word.

~History~

Helveticuz has built the Universum Forum spaceport, one of the largest spaceport in history. It all began when a man named Yuri Latjevskij as a child saw his first soviet rocket lift up to the stars. He was very impressed and built his own "rockets" with woodparts from the forest behind his village.
Now, 43 years later, he's a member of the Helvetian government and the Helvetian State of Aerospace. He started to fantasize about travelling to other worlds and make scientific discoverys, and got other persons with him in his dreaming. Soon the whole HSA reported to the Helvetian government that they were demanding a spaceprogram, otherwise they would quit and move to the neighbouring land.
HSA gave them unlimited money, Yuri Latjevskij is a VERY important man, and gave them an area far from the cities to build a spaceport. What they did not know was that Yuri planned to build the "greatest spaceport ever".
And in a couple of years the Universum Forum was finished. He got the name from the roman empire. He was impressed by their strict dicipline and architecture. Everything was in order in the roman empire, he thought.

~Getting Around~

The Universum Forum consist of one Main building (the "forum"), three large apartment blocks, one security building, one command center (upon the Main building), three control towers, three astrological centers, five large research centers, 120 hangarslots all of them underground, ten large factories, three long landingstrips, five small factories, three small research centers, one huge research lab, one large astronaut school, one large gym/exercise center, eight windtunnels, three placed launchsites and another five if necessary, three large radio/communication halls, one microwave dish 1000ft, twenty different restaurants, one medium shoppinghall, one large casino, five helicopter landingpad (fifteen incl. the rooftops) and one large underground parking center.

The ISEC Aid Group (ISECAG) is an organisation for TRUSTED nation, who donate a large amount of important information or money. A good example is Balrogga, first nation of ISECAG. Look at his donation and you will see how yours should look like, if you want a place in the ISECAG. Note: ISECAG is an organisation who give full support and is ready to assist ISEC in any time, but doesn't want to get involved with the spaceprogram. Interested? Contact Siesatia or Balrogga!

ISEC Region is now open to any ISEC nations. We can offer support in crisis, humanitarian aid and an entertainment program (with conserts and that stuff).
Feel free to visit "ISEC Region", and TG Cullenus for password.

Rules
This is Helvetian Ground, so nations cannot build any of their own facilities, unless they have permition from Helvetian Authorities. Simplified: Ask Helveticuz if you want to add something to the spaceport.

~We will NOT be Building any large facilities during this time, unless we somehow get ahold of Helvericuz. Nor will we be making any gigantic leaps in ISEC space Technology~

Any spacecrafts with weapons, speciallcy WMD's, are NOT allowed.
If it is impossible to remove the weapon/s from your ship, please notice Helvetian authorities.

Super-Mega-Ultra spaceships (Godmod ships) are not allowed.

Nations must have an ambassador or any political contactsperson in the Space Program Council, and one or more science teams on place. And ofcourse atleast one team of astro/cosmo/taiconaut.

Every nation is welcome, as long as they can afford their own ships. If not they may borrow ISEC spaceships for a maximum period of 1 year. After that period the nation must have their own spaceship otherwise they will be cancelled from the program. (The State of Aerospace owns 12 X20 shuttles). They also must have their own astronauts or they can send a team to be trained at the Astronaut School.

All nations in ISEC will give money to ALL projects, wheter they like it or not. Otherwise the whole idea of the program is wasted. If all nations give money to the project, each nation will only give a small amount money. If One or two nations gave money, they would have to pay a large or even enormous amount of money to afford it. As said before, SHARE is the keyword for the ISEC.

If a nation decides to buy the AG-1 VentureStar, they must return it to ISEC if they leave or is cancelled from the program, or they could choose to buy it for the real market price. This rule will prevent nations from joining ISEC and then buy the AG-1 cheaper than on the market, and then leave the program with a new ship in their hands.

NOTIFICATION TO STOREFRONTS: We do not buy your ships, we make our own as everything else. If we would be interested in buying anything, WE will contact you.

The Helvetian Space Science Corporation has built a couple of Spaceships, some of them Helvetian standard ships (X20) and others completely new projects. The Helvetian standard spaceship is quite simple and nations who can't afford their own ship may borrow these until they have their own.

Specifiction of the X20
Engines: 3 Hydrocharge Engines /w Oxygen Cooling.
Skin: Itanium plates.
Looks: Like a NASA spaceshuttle, only a little bit smaller.
Capacity: Up to 12 team members. only 2 pilots needed. Can hold up to 2 tons of cargo. (With liftrockets equipped).
Note: Only 9 X20 left to borrow.

I was going to recommend to the International Fleet that we work out an alliance - but if you guys are that inconsistant the roleplay wont be that good - if you guys are going to roleplay around the same time frame as the IF then we can nail down an alliance or at least a few joint programs.

Add this nation to this project. I'll keep in touch, and i probably cannot purchase my own ship. How much is one?
Siesatia

I would like to say 30 Million for an X20, but that would be just to rent it. Actually buying it, would be much more expensive.

[OOC]: Ack, i'm still part of the ISECAG.

By the way, i've been wondering, how much space is there AROUND the spaceport? I'm thinking of adding a 100 Metre landing pad for small VTOL Space Craft to land on. I'm in fact thinking of using it to have a personal landing area for my new passenger liners.

Ya see, we could get a small amount of extra cash to help fund the place if we allow tours of it, to show off the international cooperation happening, so people from my Orbitals could come down to the surface to have a look around, and generate a few extra bits o' cash for us. That, and it would also mean science teams from the various countries could come to Nanit, a minature, 5 Km in size Orbital that was built a few NS years ago to be the forefront of research into space propulsion. (It has been having tourists from my other Orbitals visiting it for a long time now, and it's actually generated quite a pretty sum of cash, so i'm sure tourists from the surface of the planet might want to tour it as well)

I'm sure at least a few countries would be willing to board a passenger liner to the Orbital to not only get first-hand experience of transition into space (We're thinking of giving it no artificial gravity, just to impress the tourists as they float in Zero G), and to learn about what new technology might be getting shared with 'em.

There is a fully functional air field not far away from the spaceport. It was situated there by the Directors and I funded the development and construction of all the flight facilities so the compound could be easily defended. It was placed so the take off/landing would not interfere with the operations of the Spaceport. All construction needs to be passed by the Directors and Helveticuz.

I stationed 20 Proteus Fighters (see my website) on permanent assignment along with a full support crew. Each nation has their own hanger with modern to post modern facilities, depending upon their current tech level. I am trying to be careful to not give tech away. ISEC has proudly developed every bit of tech they use.

Permission to station fighters must be approved by the Security Director who will have control over your planes (although you will have the option to RP them yourselves. They are under his command).

Interaction between our group and other groups should be assigned to one of the Directors or a spot created for the position.

The First thing needed to be done is to take a Role Call of those who are still interested in joining ISEC.

Siesatia:

Since you made the first post and have the ability to edit it, you are in charge of keeping the current members list and the rest of the info current.

EVERYONE: Please vote, see above news^^

Balrogga: Indeed, I do know this, as you might have seen, I have already added one.

Rinceweed: Tours, hmmm, we could make some money off of it. (In theory) And it would be good PR. Would you like to head that department? And we would have to charge a bit, along the lines of 5% profits a year, for upkeep of the ISEC landing fields. But I'm sure we could work something out.

Izistan: A hydrocharge engine, I believe, has something to do with hydrogen.

Selpoep Cilbuper: By rent, it means, you pay once, and for as long as you're in ISEC, it's yours. And once you Leave, you return it. But you have to pay for damages.

Aye, i'd be more than happy to direct the tourism trade. Oh, and i'd assume that the tourists will be kept away from any high-security areas?

It should come down to a vote among the current members.

It WAS built using ONLY ISEC technology, so it doesn't really break any rules. It was created by a nation of ISEC, and it is the ISEC mentality that the nations Make up ISEC, as it could not stand by itself.

For excape velocities we'd use booster engines. This is modern tech remember, and these are built along the lines of a shuttle. And, if enough research was done on the topic, they could become both eficient and fast.

Hmm. You mind if a future-tech nation just starting to explore space joins?

Note: I only consider myself future tech because the technology is too advanced for modern. That aside, it's not even up to the basics of future tech in most cases.
Siesatia
24-10-2004, 19:00
As long as you let ISEC develop their own technology. No asserting your own. We stress this. But otherwise, welcome aboard.
DemonLordEnigma
24-10-2004, 19:12
No worries. You already have several pieces of technology I have not developed yet, and it'll be a few years before I am ready to start on advancements anyway.
Balrogga
24-10-2004, 19:56
The ISEC was formed to help nations who are interested in taking their first step into space. All the nations who join are asked to contribute to the budget and projects. There are a few nations who are more advanced in their tech who are interested in helping those nations who are trying. The ISECAG was created for this.

I consider myself future tech in modern times because I skipped the 50+ years of wasted time and resources spent in RL on things like nuclear weapons. I spent all that time getting off the planet and development there. That is how I explain my involvement.

If the Ion Engine is all ISEC production, it has my vote. We will need to research ways to improve the efficiency.

This also leads to the suggestion of a research facility placed in orbit near the ISEC space station or the Lunar Base.

I'm future tech because my country was founded in the ruins of two colonies. They were extremely advanced empires that wiped each other out in warfare. Most of their technology was either destroyed or degraded beyond anything recognizing useability (of the pieces I understand, anyway) long before my nation was founded. I have a few scraps of their empire, but most of my stuff was bought or developed at my request. No nuclear weaponry because I am more interested in space anyway. That is how I explain how I am future tech.

Ion engines would be quite an interesting project, and may be more advanced than what my ships use. I'll devote what resources I can to it if you decide to go through with it.
Siesatia
24-10-2004, 21:49
The key word here is share, we can research it here, to allow full cooperation amongst member scientists. Ion engines are not exactly advanced anyway, NASA is currently close to creating a working prototype. So if the ISEC takes place around 2020 we would already have them.

Oh, I forgot, all new member nations, please RP your scientists enterence.

All is quiet in the space over Helveticus. The moon calmly continues its slow dance around the planet, unaware of the disruption of normality about to happen. But once the event happens, the moon won't even pause to care.

Space bulges for a bit in a tiny, almost seeming as though reality itself is being warped, before snapping back into place. In the spot where it bulged are now four ships, small Flea-class unarmed personal transports, headed straight towards Helveticus. Between the ships constant chatter over a chatroom-like connection continues, briefly interrupted by the FTL jump they had just made.

(OOC: The following is what they are saying over that connection, thus the format.)

Jon Begir: Hey, did you guys catch that program on EBN last night?
Manus Torm: The one about people thinking we're oppressed? Priceless. I laughed and laughed and laughed.
Torin: Cut the chatter. We're approaching Helvicus now.
Jon Begir: Don't you mean 'Helveticus'?
Torin: ... shutup.
Borin Novki: I still don't understand why I have to come here. I should be at Terrator. I was helping with the space platform.
Torin: Because you groped the Ministress of Defense! You're lucky she didn't throw you out an airlock!
Borin Novki: Great. My fellow scientists know about it as well. Was it announced on EBN or something?
Jon Begir: She's the ambassador, you idiot!
Torin: EVERYONE, SHUT UP! NOW!
Torin: Good. I'm sending the signal to Helveticus requesting permission to land. Remember to aim for the Universum Forum if it is granted. Borin, you touch anyone while we are there and the next time you are at Terrator will be as a laborer.
Torin: This is too important for you to screw up.

The ships begin to enter a low orbit over Helveticus, calmly waiting for a signal to land. Once they get it, they'll descend into the atmosphere, heading straight for whichever of the landing strips they are directed to.
Siesatia
25-10-2004, 00:44
The Siesatian ground unit was currently waiting for the DLE representative scientists. They quickely picked up the four ships enter normal space.
"DLE ships, you are cleared to land, oh, and good job Borin Novki." came the officer over the comm.
A single detatchment of guards was sent to greet the ships when they landed.
DemonLordEnigma
25-10-2004, 02:05
The four ships quickly land, using VTOL thrusters to come to a smooth landing, except for one that descended sharply and made a loud scraping noise as it hit the ground. Three men and a woman exit the ships, the one who landed his ship roughly looking sheepish. Then, they turn to the guards.

"I am ambassador Torin. The man with brown hair behind me, who will have his eyes plucked out if they don't stray upwards, is Manus Torm. The man to his right is Jon Begir. The blond idiot who can't land a ship and is hiding behind Manus is Borin Novki, so make it a point to be unnecessarily rough with him. So, where to next?" the woman, a redhead, asks.

Surprisingly, these don't look like the military officials they are. All are wearing red long-sleeved cotton shirts with jeans, colored blue, beneath them. And for shoes, all are wearing what appear to be tennis shoes, colored black. Torin stands with an inherent self-confidence, her right hand on her hip, while Borin is trying to hide, scrunching himself down in a futile attempt to make himself less obvious. Manus seems to stare, his eyes unblinking, and carries a cane in his right hand, occasionally tapping at the ground. Jon almost appears to be on vacation, his body mildly slumped in a relaxed position as he looks at Torin amusedly, having only given the area around them a brief glance.

"You do realize Manus is blind, right?" Jon asked.

"Well, da*n. Wasn't in his file," Torin said.

"I found the cane to be a dead giveaway. But I'm the blind man, so it might not be," Manus said.

"Anyway, where to?" Torin asked of the guards before her.

VASIMR are more powerful and practical on the technology tree than ion engines acording to NASA. And they also are working towards technology demos on the scale just large enough to manuver the ISS, in the kilowatt range running on Solarpower and amps mostly.

Our techbase is mostly based on the Magento-plasma rocket technology developed around 2010 - they invented it - we perfected it.

The Burmecian captain looked oddly at the group. He had expected much more discapline and control. Placing a pair of specticles on his long snout, he asked for Identification Cards. After looking them over carefully, he beckoned them to follow him.
As he was leaving he motioned to them, the underground storage hanger elevator that was being loaded with their craft.
"Those elevators lead to our main hanger, under which reside all the ships and planes the representatives from each country has. Siesatia is the only one here with weapons on ships. That reminds me, I am going to need to take your firearms." he said, motioning to the pistol on their hips. (Sorry if you didn't say you had them, but its just to make sure) He took them, and passed them to an Raptor in a black uniform. "Take these to the safehouse."
"Yessir."
"Anyway, follow me." He said, and led them to their labrotorys. "This is lab station 24, hereby called the DLE Lab 1. Anyone working in this facility may enter at any time, so you cannot lock this door. Now we head to the residential block." He said, and began to lead them out of the building.

It took only a few minuites to reach the main road, but the transport was nowhere in sight. And the party he was leading was already tireing.
"Sorry, but we are going to have to walk, its only a mile or so, don't worry."

As the group walked along, their tiredness was becomming iincreasingly obvious. It's not that they were out of shape. On the contrary, they were in excellent shape. It's that none of them had walked in a field of real gravity for over three years and the sudden transition from artificial to real provided the main reason why artificial gravity was inferior. Still, they would tough it out.

"Lovely place. The walk should have us back in shape for gravity again. And we can get started after some settling in. Anyone remember to bring spare uniforms?" Torin asked.

"Nah. All I brought was swimsuits and sunshades. I was told this place was nothing but a beach," Jon joked.

"Of course. And I bet they told you girls in bikitus make up the walls and furniture," Manus said.

"Nah. Just the chairs. So, how does that cane of yours work? I've heard rumors of cybercanes to replace eyes," Jon questioned.

"This? It works by tapping something to feel vibrations. I have to use it more often because Borlin is distracting me," Manus said.

"How am I distracting?" Borin perked up, his voice full of indignation.

"Please. I can hear you cringing in fear. I can only imagine what Manus hears," Jon snarled.

"Guys, cut it. While Borlin has insulted the Ministress of Defense, not bothered to read his mission briefing, whined like a toddler who just had his favorite toy taken away, dented a ship with a bad landing, and manage to cringe like a vorten facing a spear while simultaneously embarassing us, he is still part of the team. Besides, I can't name a better particle physicist I can't also verbally beat into submission without trying. Now, I want to find the idiot who told us this planet allows pistols and beat him myself. It is embarassing to know our own intelligence department can't be bothered to get what is obviously common knowledge correct," Torin said, making a strange hand signal.

The group quieted down and stayed that way until they reached the residential block and were directed towards rooms. The hand signal had been to tell the group to save energy for just the walk. Of course, the group had left their clothes in their ships, planning on sending for them later.

OOC: A lot of my military is like this. When in battle or actually working on their certain tasks, they tend to be extremely rigid about the chain of command. Outside of that, only someone actually paying attention will notice the chain. The entire command structure is based around an inherent sense of who is in charge and this structure of friendly conversation.

Their positions, which I forgot to include in the first post:

Torin: Ambassador, team leader, theoretical physicist
Borin Novki: Particle physicist, nuclear physicist*, explosives expert**
Jon Begir: Structural physicist, chemist, explosives expert**
Manus Torm: Spacial physicist***, munitions expert****, biologist

*My nation may lack nukes, but we do study nuclear technologies for spacial applications.
**This is a requirement for studying nuclear physics and chemistry, mainly so they don't accidentally blow themselves up. We may not have the technology to make nuclear weapons, but we know they exist and have an idea of how they work.
***If it deals with space, we put it in spacial physics. Works very well.
****This is a requirement for spacial physics, since fuel-burning rocket technologies are all classified as munitions in my country.

Also, there is a request filed with you to have security cameras positioned so you may record everything from multiple angles, preferably with lenses to allow you to read computers. This way, if a lab accident happens and they all die, we will have a copy of what they were working on and a record of what went wrong.

OOC: The security station already uses similar equipment, at which time, will remain classified, because of outside sources somehow getting this information.

The burman continued to the residential compound. "These are the rooms you will be staying at. Please don't wreak them, as we don't have a maid service."

He turned tail (Literally) and walked out to leave the crew to themselves.

"Ya think they're all like that?" Manus asked,
"I sure hope not, or we might get in trouble for having a steak knife outside the cafeteria." Borlin said,
"You Will!" Came a faint voice from the hall.
"How'd he..."

I thought we should make a rule on techwanking in this, if your tech falls into one of these, it is wanked...

If you need a subspace transceiver to radio your engine room, you might be wanking

If your fighters jump to FTL and leave the launch bay 10 minutes later, you might be wanking

If you taking a turbolift to the other end of the ship sends you back in time, you might be wanking

If your ship sucks black holes in... you might be wanking

If you don't need a generator to trap an enemy ship in your gravity well, you might be wanking

If your ship can't turn without snapping in half/twenty/fourty/a billion pieces, you might be wanking

If you jump to FTL and your bridge is in anbdromeda while your stern is still accellerating, you might be wanking

If even TFU thinks you are godmodding, you might be wanking LOL

If you have something called a Dyson that isn't a model of vacuum cleaner, you might be wanking

If you pull into a system and the sun starts feeling inadequate, you might be wanking

If your ship was mentioned in the first chapter of the Bible... you might be wanking

If God can't even afford to buy your ship, you might be wanking

I thank Capsule Corp. for making these, and hope he will not kill me for stealing them.

Subspace transciever? With my largest ship, all you have to do is open a door and yell down the hall. Hell, I could probably park the sucker on one of your landing strips.

It was a joke, referring to the people with 20 mile long ships *coughcough GZ coughcough* Actually, my longest is 7.5 miles, but its also a carrier, so its pretty hollow.

No, I was actually following through with a joke of my own.

Honestly, I think my largest ship is 500 feet long. It has problems with massed attacks by regular fighter planes.

Sometime, we will have to roleplay a party for the scientists. It'll be... interesting.

Tell me about the event.

Oh, the music style of my people is called idkwisbili. That stands for "I don't know what it is, but I like it." It sounds like a small child banging pots together combined with a badly-played guitar. The dance to it looks like a bad merging of two-stepping and the hustle.

My largest is 10 Km. It is a mining vessel that is a civilian vessel.

Then come the Carriers and dreadnaughts. They are the only ships over 1 Km in length. I have three classes of carriers and I have a total of four dreadnaughts, all but 1 out system. The Serendipity is in orbit. It is the Emperors flagship.

I have a ship that I designed to combat those Uberships. It is 200 Meters long. I'm not at liberty to discuss it.

-----OPEN TRANSMISSION-----
DC fighters, we are preparing an EMP Pulse, we have opened a hole in our shields, if you would land, we will fire it, and launch you back out again. We have also noticed damage, and low fuel, we can repair and refuel. Medics standing by.
ALL ALLIES PUT DOWN YOUR FIGHTERS AND TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEMS, WE ARE PREPARING TO STOP AN INCOMING THREAT
-----CLOSE TRANSMISION-----

Commander William Rolland of the Colonial Recon Force heard the call from the Siesatians and decided to radio the carriers for instructions on what to do. "Go ahead and land on the Freestar," Challenger's slightly distracted voice instructed him, "we're still trying to sort out where to land everyone now that the Pax Magellanic's out. Besides, your people must be tired and low on fuel by now, so go ahead and land. Remember to extend your appriciation and thanks to the Siesatians, and don't wander out of the areas they've designated you can wander in. Challenger out". Rolland leaned back in his seat as he confirmed with the Freestar where to land.

*Aboard the CNS Challenger*

The transmission from the Admiral Benly of BLARGistania was played for Captain Joe Shoemaker, second in command of the Challenger, as Callie watched from a secondary monitor. "Accept thier offer for repairs, and extend our thanks" ordered Shoemaker. Since Commodore Danforth had gone to sleep and ordered not to be awoken no matter what, Captain Shoemaker was in command for the time being. "Also, decline thier offer to let us use thier flight decks, but say that we're deeply appreciative of that too" Shoemaker continued. Earlier on, Callie had had crunched the to determine if there was infact enough room to determine if there was enough hanger and flightdeck space to land everyone on a functioning carrier, and concluded that they had 718 spots for the 766 fighters that were returning. While there wouldn't actually be enough space for all the fighters to land at once, having no fighters in the air to protect the task force was unacceptable anyways. Using a modified patrol schedule, it was agreed that the situation was acceptable, although Commander William Rolland's Colonial Recon Force was not factored into the equations since they were already aboard the Siesatian ship Freestar, and everyone assumed that the fighting would be over soon anyways, so it was acceptable if they had to land on the Pax Magellanic's flight deck. The Pax Magellanic's flightdeck was now clear of debris, so landings could take place on it, but there was no power for the launchers to relaunch any Colonial fighter that landed on it.

The flight deck of the Freestar....
Syphera walked onto the deck where the humans had landed their craft. Actually, she hadn't walked on, but a hologram had. Guised in human appearence, she walked forward, painfully awhare of the slight shimmering the underpowered projectors gave her.
The nanites had begun to take affect on the damaged fighters, as holes and scrapes had begun to close up on the DC fighters.
She walked over to what seemed to be the highest ranked officer there.
"It seems that we have left Cherry Ridge in ruins." she said, as her hologram shimmered again."However, we are painfully low on power, our generators were busy powering our shields at 182 % and then the EMP took what little was left, We will be here for another few hours, We also understand that your carriers are damaged, we will ferry you to your nearest military base, and before you refuse, we should tell you that it will be no trouble at all." she smiled at the person. "Dinner will be served at 6:30 CR time, thats an hour from now, and we must insist that you all attend, as the bombers will be landing then. Just to let you know, all churches and relegious temples have been incinerated, all bridges, airports, missle sites, military bases, and naval bases have also been detroyed, with low civilian loss. I believe this is over, we should let the ground forces of the second wave take control."

*Aboard the Siesatian ship Freestar*

Commander William Rolland stood in awe of the holographic woman that stood infront of him. Damn, he thought, these Siesatians really are a high tech people. He began to study her in detail, as he was amazed by the technology involved to create such a precise, lifesized holographic image. She seemed to shimmer as stared at her, admiring the detailing of her hair. The possibilities with this are endless, he continued to think to himself, I can imagine what the AIs back at the taskforce would do to get this kind of technology... He was startled out of his wonderment though, when his second in command gave a polite cough. The hologram was begining to look at him strangely, so he figured he had better say something soon. "We...Ah... Thank you. Thank you very much for the most kind welcome you've given us, and the offer of transportation. We'll all be sure to report for dinner ontime, as I'm sure we'll enjoy it. On behalf of the Colonial government, I would like to extend my most...ah... heartfelt appriciations to the Freestar and to Siesatia". The hologram gave a polite nod, and exited the deck. He watched her go, and debated whether he would describe her to those back at the taskforce as a "technological marvel" first, or a "wonder of technology". "Not bad Commander," he heard his first officer call out from behind him. "Not only have you weirded out a holographic woman that represented a country that could destroy the Democratic Colonies easily, but you also starred at her ass while she exited". "Shaddup Johnny" Rollands said to his first officer as he took off his flight helmet. "Yeah, shut up Johnny," said another member of the Rolland's squadren, "I think the Commander did a great job of handling that explosively charged diplomatic situation. I mean, he didn't make up any new words, he didn't get spit on the other person's face, and he didn't tell a dirty joke that -" "Hey!" interupted Commander Rollands, "I'm never going to live down that incident with the Narzillion Liason officer, am I?" he sighed. "No sir, no you're not" said his first officer. "ah, don't worry about it Commander," said another of his pilots, "I'm sure Callie would be proud of the way you almost-nearly but kinda didn't sorta screw that up in a horrificallish manner". Rollands punched the pilot on the shoulder, and they settled in on the, to them, extremely advanced ship Freestar for the time being.

*Aboard the flight deck of the Siesatian ship Firestar*

The members of Commander William Rolland's recon force lounged in various positions around their planes. They had checked out and repaired any damage to thier aircraft, and were simply waiting for something to happen. The last communication from the Colonial Task force was Callie telling them to remember thier manners, treat all Siesatians with respect, and not touch anything - ever. Callie's concerns that the group of 32 fighter pilots would cause an international incident though, were seemingly unfounded, as they all seemed to be doing nothing out of the ordinary. Infact, a few of the pilots were exhausted by thier super-sonic dash through Cherry Rose and simply settled into thier cockpits for a quick nap. Others pulled out novels or played cards, while others swapped stories with eachother to pass the time. Commander Rolland himself was playing cards with one of the pilots who had teased him earlier about his one and only other diplomatic encounter, when he insulted, sneezed on and mangled the english language before a Narzillian liason officer. "Go fish" mumbled Lieutenant Commander Jennifer Greenfield as Commander Rolland leaned back from thier go-fish game to stretch his arms. "Why are we playing go fish again?" Rolland asked. Before Greenfield could tell Rolland to stop changing the subject because he was losing, they heard a commotion behind them, followed by the scuffles of boots as thier wearers stood up. Rolland and Greenfield looked at eachother for a second before they rushed to thier feet to see what was going on. As Rolland began to move forewards, the second in command of the recon force, Commander Jim Walker got Greenfield's attention and indicated by pointing at his watch that it was nearly 6:30 Cherry Rose time, when the Siesatians were planning to serve dinner. When Greenfield focused her attention back to Rolland, she saw that most of the pilots were formed up into a pair of rows based on thier squadren membership, and Rolland was talking to the holographic projection that greeted them earlier. While she was still out of earshot, she decided that she should come to parade rest with her squadren in thier line. While the pilots had been eager to joke around while no actual Siesatians were around, they tried to keep a more serious demeanor when foriegn representatives were about.

Commander Rolland thanked her again for the hospitality of the Siesatian government again, as they led the two columns of pilots off of the flight deck. "You have quite a beautiful ship here" said Rolland with admiration in his voice. "Thank you. As the Siesatian flagship, the Freestar utilizes the most advanced technology available to us." replied the hologram politely. "Please make a left up ahead" she directed, broadly indicating with her arm. "You know, despite all the generosity that you've been showing, I'm afraid that you never mentioned your name." The holographic projection stopped in front of a door and smiled. "My name is Syphera," she said, "and this is the mess hall. Now, there's something I need to explain to you all before you go in to eat," she continued, as the pilots shuffled around to ensure that they could all hear. "Now, I'm sure you're all a bit curious about why I only appear to you as a hologram, and why you haven't seen any members of the crew during your walk over here to the mess hall, correct?" A few of the pilots, including Walker and Greenfield, nodded in agreement. Now that Rolland thought about it, he realized she was right - he just hadn't noticed it since he had been trying to figure out how Siesatia was being projected as they walked. "Well, I guess I should start with the history of Siesatia. Or - " She was interupted by opening of the mess hall door door by a pair of very leathery hands. "Je-GAACK!" yelled Rollands as he jumped backwards, his hands grabbing at his empty hip holster. He instantly regretted his order for the recon force to leave thier sidearms in thier planes to "promote the diplomatic nature of the events". All the other pilots had pretty much the same reaction of yelling, diving backwards and grabbing for empty hip holsters as the raptor-like being in the doorway tilted its head in confusion. "Gack! Syphera, run!" yelled Rolland as he pulled himself to his feet and tried to pull her away from the doorway, forgetting that it was only a holographic projection of Syphera in his absolute panic. Rollands simply passed right through the hologram as he tried to grab the now mortified Syphera, and went crashing to the floor again. He began to panic again as he felt a hand grab his ankle, but as he was dragged away from the doorway and what looked like a raptor, he realized it was Greenfield and one of the other pilots were dragging him to safety while Walker ran out of view behind a corner, probably to go get his gun. Rolland screamed again as he saw that the raptor in the doorway also seemed to be reaching for him, probably wanting to eat him. Ahhh! Dinosaurs, freakin' dinosaurs! thought Rolland, as the raptor's hand latched onto his shoulder. who the HELL thought I'd encounter dinosaurs on a freakin' SPACESHIP! Rolland saw the raptor open its mouth, seemingly about to take a big chunk right out of Rolland. Rolland was left with no choice - he balled up his right hand, took aim right at the creature's snout, and gave it the meanest right hook he had. Much to his suprise, the raptor immedately let him go and withdrew backwards. Rollands lept to his feet and slammed shut to door to the mess hall, and turned to face his pilots. They stared at him, one of them with an uncapped pen readied as a weapon. Rolland then turned and stared at Syphera for a second, before resuming his paniced yelling. "Good God Syphera! You've got a dinosaur outbreak on your ship!" Syphera immediately tried to calm everyone down. "No, no, you don't understand. That's the crew" Syphera said to the shocked pilots. There was silence for a second as the pilots absorbed this. "OH. MY. GOD! There's some kind of space disease / biological weapon onboard turning the crew into dinosaurs, quick Greenfield, baricade the door!" yelled Rollands. As the someone on the other side of the door once again tried to open it. Greenfield and a pair of other pilots immediately slammed against the door and tried to hold it shut, but the door was quickly forced open with so much force that it flung all three of the Colonial aviators off their feet and away from the doorway. Syphera began to cover her eyes from the insanity of the situation. Encouraged by the success of his last bout with the raptor, Rolland lept in front of the now open door way and gave the raptor inside a quick punch to the snout again before leaping up, grabbing the bulkhead above the door, and swinging forewards like that to perform a kick to the raptor's snout with both of his feet. The raptor stumbled backwards several steps and Rollands released his grip on the bulkhead, dropping a few feet back down onto the deck. "Ya-ha! Take that you ugly, stupid sonofa - " he began to yell at the raptor, before it cut him off midspeach with a swipe to the chest from its tail. Rolland stumbled backwards from the attack, being very dazed. As he fell to the ground, he could hear Syphera begin to yell something at Greenfield and the other pilots, but he lost conciousness as he hit the deck from his fall.

Rollands woke up to see two yellow eyes staring right down at his, "ACK" He bolted upright and smacked his head against the snout of the onlooker, "Oww, calm down." he heard halfway out the door. He stopped mid stride and turned to gawk at the raptor, who was dressed in a white lab coat that trailed behind. "Did you just-" he asked "Yes." it seemed to speak without the use of its mouth. "How are you speaking to me? Telepathy?" "No, but similar." He thought really hard of the words he wanted to say to her, but nothing happined, he tried again with the same result. "How do I do that?" he asked, "It is a transmission, originating from a device implanted in our skulls, it sends over speech into the hearing organs directly from our minds. I'm not sure how it works, so I won't try." "Where are my crew?" "Eating dinner with the rest of our crew, it just started, so I believe you can still get something to eat." "Thanks miss..." "Dr. Devara." she said curtly, beffore returning to her other patients.
The halls were an iron-grey/blue, and the lighting seemed brighter than before, and tere was a soft, distant hum coming from behind him. He finally reached the door marked mess hall. When the door slid open, there was a burst of applause, as all his crew stood up, cheering and laughing. He was instructed by a member of his crew that there was an officers table off to the right. On his trip there, he saw many tables of mixed crew, teaching and being taught card games, and one table seemed to be drunk, even theyre hosts looked as though they'd had too much.
The officers table had his first officer, and two Siesatians, both wore white coats, one with three silver stars, one with two gold ones. "Have a seat Rolland" his first officer said, "Alright." he sat, "This is the captain of the SMSC Freestar, Terrace Livington, and Commander Ulayla Syphera." He shook their clawed hands. "Pleasure, so your Syphera." "I am, and I couldn't help notice your acting the hero by trying to shove me outta the way, and your hand convieniently went thrrough my waist." The entire table burst out laughing, as he turned red. His directions for formallity seemed to have been lost on his crew, as the siesatians were just as fun loving, and humerous as they were. A plate was brought out for him. "Whats this?" "Pteradactyl wing?" His first mate offered jokinly. "Funny." "Its chicken, marinated in soy sauce, with herbs, specially chosen by our chefs for this voyage." she said. "Captain, Have you ever been in space before?" Terrace asked, "No." "Look out that window." he stood up, and walked over to a porthole, and saw stars, and below, earth. "Holy shit." "Its a beutiful sunset tonight." Ulayla said, "Yes, how long until we reach DC space?" "16 hours" "Alright."

*Aboard the SMSC Freestar*

"Oh man, I'm so sorry about what happened earlier... I mean really. I'm sorry." Began to apologize Rolland as he sat back down to his seat. "I really hope that the guy that I kicked is okay." he continued. "It's quite alright," said Commander Syphera, "you didn't really hurt him, he was just trying not to hurt you. He was just trying to get you away from him when he wacked you, and feels terrible for actually hurting you - we sometimes forget that humans aren't really as tough as we are." "Oh." answered Rolland, as he felt the relief rush through him. Sure, he thought to himself, things didn't go so good at first, be things are okay now. "Try the chicken," said Joe Walker, Rolland's second in command. "Hey... last time I saw you, you were running away from the scuffle and down a hall - what happened to you, I thought you were going to get your gun." asked Rolland. A laugh went up at the table as Walker put on an embarresed expression. "What?" asked a now confused Rolland, "I saw Walker run away, so I thought he was going back to his plane to get his gun." Another round of laughter came about as Greenfield, another one of Rolland's pilots began to explain. "Sir, you're not totally wrong about Walker going back to his plane... but it hasen't to get his gun. Apparently, Walker was so scared, he ran down to the flight deck as fast as he could, jumped into the first fighter that he saw, which happened to be mine, and tried to power up his engines, and escape, leaving the rest of us to be eaten." "Whaaat?" asked Rolland, totally suprised. "No way - our very own Commander Joe Walker freaking out and abandoning his friends - our very own Joe Walker, who once claimed that he was the toughest man in all of 4th Fleet?" Walker now had his hands covering his face in shame as he said "Yes sir, I did all that... but there's more." Syphera, gesturing with a fork while she talked, told Rolland what happened after. "Well, while I was explaining to your pilots about my people's history and trying to calm them down, a few of the crewmen of the Freestar chased after Walker to try to tell him what has going on - Walker just kept yelling at them 'no, please don't eat me, I'm full of cholesteral, I'll clog up your arteries' as he ran away". Rolland laughed as Walker pointed to his stomach saying that it was true while Syphera continued. "By the time the crewmen got close to Walker though, he had already jumped into a fighter - as mentioned earlier, Greenfield's fighter, so the crewmen back off, afraid of damaging your aircraft. Walker is still freaking out though, and he's still screaming about eating him would be unhealthy as he pulls out Greenfield's pistol from under her flight seat." Rolland began to lean forewards to hear better, as he worried about what happened next. "The crewmen were really concerned then - afterall, we're a pretty tough people, but a 9mm bullet would leave us as dead as it would leave you, so they dash back out of the flight deck, closing a door behind them. By this time, I've finally gotten most of what they needed to know explained to your pilots, and Greenfield thought the same thing that you did - that Walker was going to get his gun, so she began to run down the corridors too, hoping to catch up with Walker and tell what's going on. On the flight deck though, Walker was already trying to power up his engines, but for reason couldn't. Our crewmen could hear the engines whining through the door." Rolland turned to Walker and Greenfield for an explanation. "It's her stupid fighter! She's got the engines all messed up!" said Walker, as he extended an accusing finger at Greenfield. "No no Walker, you just don't know how to treat them right." countered Greenfield. "I swear, I wonder sometimes how your plane holds itself together the way you treat the poor thing! The have to cuddle the engines on the Sea Aardvarks, kinda gently ease 'em up if you're doing a cold-start." Rolland nodded as Greenfield spoke, the engines of the F-111C Sea Aardvark were always a bit touchy at startup, but Walker disagreed. "What the hell are you talking about? I go straight to full power all the time in my Aardvark, and she never complains." he said, animating a powerup using his hands. "Anyways," continued Syphera, "the crewmen just off the flightdeck were getting worried about all the noise coming out of those engines, so they open up the door just a little to peek inside and see what's happening. They slammed it shut immediately though, when Walker saw them and pointed his pistol at them. Luckily though, he didn't fire any rounds. Or, more accurately, he couldn't." Rolland again turned to Walker and Greenfield on his side of the table. "Again, Greenfield and her craaazy equipment settings" said Walker, as he gestured at Greenfield with his thumb. After Greenfield explained that she had modified her pistol with a double-safety system, that Walker didn't know about, Syphera continued. "It's extremely fortunate that Lieutenant Commander Greenfield was so concerned with firearm safety, as she rushed through the door and onto the flight deck before anyone could stop her. Luckily for her, Commander Walker still couldn't figure out how to enable the gun to fire." Rolland was shocked now, and asked Walker "You tried to shoot Greenfield?". "Well," began Walker, looking even more embarrased then he was earlier, "only a few times. I thought she might have been...you know. A dinosaur or something." "BS!" exclaimed Greenfield, as she pointed at Walker with her fork. "As I was running towards my fighter, which now has the seat calibration all messed up, I could clearly hear the trigger being pulled like 30 times." "Aw man.... you're really lucky that gun was modified like that" said Rolland as he leaned back in his chair. Walker, still a shade of red, began to speak as he crossed his arms accross his chest. "Yeah, well... it all worked out okay. Once Greenfield caught up to me and... ah... punched me to get my attention, it all worked out. Ain't that right Captain Livington?". "Yes, there was no harm done." said the Captain. "Now, enough stories for the time being, eat up. Dessert's almost on the way." Greenfield seemed to perk up when she heard dessert mentioned. Walker turned over to Rolland and began to ask quietly, "Hey Rolland?". "What?" replied Rolland. "Well, how's this for a deal. I'll never bring up that time you messed up with the Narzillion Liason officer again, and you never mention this to the other pilots back on the Challenger." A wide smile broke out accross Rolland's face as he pretended to consider the proposal. "How's that sound?" asked Walker again, looking hopeful now. "Not on your life - this is going straight into the gossip pool, and when Wing Commander O'Dell hears about it, knowing her sense of humor, it'll probably be posted in the Navy Times newspaper by tommorow." Walker let out a long groan at this, not looking foreward to the jokes he would probably he subject to once everyone heard about what happened - what he did would probably overshadow what Rolland did for nearly everyone. Greenfield though, not content to let Walker mellow in his own miserableness, gave him a light punch on the shoulder. "Aw, cheer up Walker!" she said. "Afterall, once this bit of news hits the Navy Times, you'll famous!"

The skyscrapers of the Democratic Colonies loomed above the skyline, fireworks were launched high into the air as the Freestar glided slowely into position. The repulsors engaged, and the decent slowed until it touched down on the prepared landing pad. The side door opend, as did the launch bay. 50 fighters flew out, All launched their misslie simultaniously, the missiles screamed into the air and millions of multi colored sparks and flashes, The crowd who had assembled stared in awe, as the pilots proceded down the gangplank, cheered on by the spectators. "You sure you won't hang out a bit?" Rolland asked, "We're sure, we have to get home, but I have something for you, and soemthing for your people." Syphera said. and handed him a package, and a letter. "The package is for you, use it when you are in trouble, we will come. The letter is for your leaders." she said, as he got off the gangplank. "Your fighters are on the ground below us, the rest are working the light show." "Thank you." "It was for the good of the people of cherry ridge." The gangplank began to raise. "Don't forget to use what I gave you, it should go in your fighter, in the second empty module." The ship began to raise into the air moments later, and soon it was out of sight. He looked down at the package, "Lets see what you have there." His first officer said, he opened the package to find a computer add on hardware, it would fit perfectly under the missile control, like she said it would. It had a cover over a big red switch.

The letter:
Dear Democratic Colonies,
The Siesatian govenment, and especially the crew of the Freestar, thanks you and your valient warriors in the assisted defeat of the vile Cherry Ridge. We have seen the inteligence and perserverence of your countrymen, and hold you as a shining example of the human race. We send you the coordinates for a new program, in which we defend, that you may wish to join, or not, what ever pleases you, it is called ISEC. We also reccomend your Rolland for a promotion, for his skill and bravery in battle.

This is a truly interesting event that more than 80% of the officials of the Constitutional Monarchy of Jerganslavia realize the potential to. a few quotes as of today:

"...If we're able to hop aboard this expedition, it would be a truly remarkable and groundbreaking event for Jerganslavia..."
-John Jacob Smith, Naval Director

"...In [Jerganslavia's] hands, a space expedition could be used for so much..."
-Thomas Rigsby, outspeaking citizen

"The reality of the opportunity that's on our doorstep is mind-boggling. If we could just use it to the advantage of [the world], we could be able to realize the full potential of a world untied under one banner..."

Wow. That was an interesting meeting. Have my people already met yours ICly, or is that still to come? It should be an interesting meeting if not, but no where near that scale.

Oh, if you have ever seen my posts with dates on them, know those are not Earth's timescale. I use one more befitting the self-constructed civilization of DLE.

I will give you, Siesatia, full power over ISEC until the 20:th December.
This means that you have permittion to build/destroy/add whatever you like to the ISEC base and/or kick/accept any kind of nations.
I am trusting you to do what is good for ISEC.

You will also have the power to begin new projects, even if most of the nations are inactive they are still bound to pay and partisipate.

Ok, We are beginning the construction of our new research facility.
I expect it to be finished in a matter of 4 years.
The price for construction, will be aproximately 1 trillion, along with scientific equipment. Siesatia will foot the bill, as long as we get the lab with the window.

The Empire has made arrangements for a 100 Meter Power Substation module to provide electrocitity. The power will be obtained from a Space Negative Tap (The reason for the size is the minimum for the equiptment.) The substation will provide all and any power needed for the entire facility.

This is in addition to the regular donations.

I would like to work here as the diplomatic envoy to the International Space Exploration Coalition from the International Fleet.

I think establishing a free-trade zone between our 2 Unions in terms of economic, materials, manufacturing, mining and transportation would greatly benifit both of our Interplanetary-Aerospace consortiums. It is my intention to facilitate a beginings to such an agreement.

At the moment, the council is at an extended recess, so the issue of an ISEC - (Whatever name it is now) alliance won't be decided. I will however, allow Interactions between our two alliances. And will go so far as to cordially invite members of your alliance to the next ISEC Gathering in the Forums. we will send you the time. (On your own thread) Food an music will be provided, however, I must limit security details from the attending countries to 6 men. Siesatian/Balrogga soldiers will be on guard duty.

"I think this is the place," said the Avatar of Prime Minister Wyatt Malevlok - "I will be another 4 months out of Phobos Mars." And the Avatar evaporated again.

There was wide spread conjecture and talk in the forum of how they could be 4 months out and yet still be able to respond without the lag of lightspeed communications concidering the distance to Mars.

It was simple an AI represents the Phobos City Prime Minister and is in constant communication with its counter parts one of which is always at Wyatt's side - but at times is able to state with reasonable certainty what the prime minister would say in his abscence. Present IF members aware of this didnt care to explain it the crowd would eventually figure it out or it would remain a mystery - there were more important things of concern to the guest. Like the air & space show.

On an Alpha Class Exploration Cruiser, the Botani Bay, Sun Xian's personal yaught prepares for departure from the cruiser and the short 30 km trip to dock with the ISEC station.

This is President Sun Xian of Greater Beijing - we are ready to recieve your docking protocals and request permission to land.
