Al Anbar's military had been on high alert for many weeks now, with all soldiers called up into duty and troops being moved throughout Al Anbar. The movement was publicly said to be a repositioning of troops to better serve Al Anbar, and it looked like it. But, now, it Al Anbar showed that it was not just a simple repositioning of troops. In fact, Al Anbar had moved troops and built fortifications to defend itself in the event someone should be angry at this move and attack Al Anbar. Al Anbar was totally prepared to face any adverse conditions.
The attacks began insync at approximately 4:00 AM. Republican Guard troops invaded Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Within four hours, Oman's capital city, Muscat, was seized in light fighting. By 9:30 AM, Qatar's capital was captured. The only nation to truly offer real resistance was the UAE, whose military had been positioned since the time of Al Anbar's unification with Saudi Arabia, next to the border. It took several hours, but by 2:00 PM, the entire UAE was under control of Al Anbar.
Qatar's and Oman's governments were captured within hours of the capture of the capital cities, but UAE's government had time to plan. Several leaders dared to fly in their helicopters to other parts of the UAE, only to be shot down. The UAE's main government functionaries were captured by nightfall. The capture was complete. By nightfall, Al Anbar had realized its goals in this swift and well planned maneuver.
