Marxist attacks in New Goliad
New Goliad

Ramon Juarez walked down the dark street, towards the government office. Almost time now, he thought. Time to strike a blow for the workers. He climbed over the fence, and was careful to avoid notice. It'd been almost a year since the government hired the mercenaries to train the counter-terror teams, and wisely the Hermanos de Libertad had kept their activity down since then. Time enough had passed for the security people to grow complacent and confident. Anyway, here in the capital almost everyone was white. The police and security forces had no reason to look out for Spanish Marxists. Fools, he thought as he climbed back over the fence, his work done. Once the ultimatum was issued here in the capital, the revolution could begin the work of liberating the province of Andalusia. As he walked down the street, he grinned to himself. He had been busy tonight, and would retire to his flat to get some sleep. He was just closing the door to his apartment as his handiwork, half a dozen pipe bombs planted in various government buildings, started to go off. It is done, he thought, now the hard work begins.
President Hereford,
We recieved your telegram and would be glad to help your men fight. The 52nd will begin operations as soon as the money required has been wired to our accounts. We wish you luck in these trying times ahead.
Colonel Bannister Harrington,
Commanding Officer, 52nd Mercenary Regiment
Malkyeri Royal Marines

Thank you very much, Colonel. Please give my compliments to your King. We have sent the money ($20 million US) to your accounts, and we hope that you can get started right away.
OOC: actually I probably won't check back till tomorrow, so you can wait till then if you want as I won't be posting anything for either the rebels or the government.
The mercenaries had set up a base camp in the mountains of the Andalusia region, near the Corazon Gorge. After the base of operations had been secured, Colonel Harrington had sent platoons out to scout and possibly meet up with the locals, if there were any friendly ones. This northern stretch of mountains was near the Galicia province, which although was predominately Spanish, was more friendly towards the government. Thus, the locals were relatively peaceful.
Captain Matt Hannebrink looked at the guerillas, six men who'd agreed to meet them and discuss arming and fighting alongside these men who remained loyal to the government in Austin. One of them, the leader who identified himself only as Jose, stepped forward.
"How do we know we can trust you, gringo?"
Hannebrink smiled. "Well, I'm here to help your government fight the Communists. Remember the saying, 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'?"
"Hmmm...We have no love for the gobierno blanco, the white goverment. We fight with them because we see Communism as the greater evil. What if you lose? What if you can't outmatch the rebels in this guerilla war?"
"I can assure you this: we won't lose. We'll stay until they're gone." Damn, but he's a smart one. These farmers and factory workers usually fight for whoever's propaganda got to them first. To find a man who actually considers the causes is pretty rare.
"Or until the money runs out," he retorted. He looked at the foreigner in front of him, this white man. He looked into his eyes and saw pride, and something that may have been honor. It was rare enough in white men. "You seem decent. If you give your word, Captain, we will help you, and fight with you."
"I can do better than that. I give you the Colonel's word."
"The Colonel is not here. I have not met him, I do not know if he is an honorable man. I want your word."
After a moment of considering, Hannebrink responded.
"Alright. You have my word."
Leninist Workers

The Hooded Lord entered the room before the Leninite Communist Party, all of whom are eager to hear what the mysterious national leader desired of them.
The Hooded Lord handed a paper to a speaker, who then addressed the crowd...
"After so many years of isolation and building, the state of Leninist Workers is finally able to re-emerge in this turbulent and reactionary-overrun world. It is our duty as servants of the people to aid any and all revolutionary and progressive movements worldwide. If we must, billions of dollars will be poured into the funds of these movements, but a better world is possible, free from corporate rapists."
With this, the party members looked for a new fledgling group of communists who needed aid in bringing about justice in the world they had so long isolated themselves from.

The 34th Infantry Brigade began to take the fight to the rebels. The soldiers were moving through a corn field towards a town the rebels had taken. The rebels and government troops were fairly even on the ground, having similar numbers and weapons. The government forces had something that the communists didn't, though: artillery; lots of artillery. They were counting on it now to break the town's defenders before
As shells pounded the town, the bedraggled defenders were settling down to begin a long and bloody defence. Revolutionary Major Diego Vasquez watched the gringo troops move through the cornfield, where they thought they couldn't be seen. His intelligence source told him that the 34th thought that there were 3000 rebels in the town, but he had a little surprise for them. An extra thousand men had been moved into the town during the past two nights, and waited now to fight the government. He smiled. The government forces would be easily beaten. New Goliad hadn't ever fought a real war before, and he was sure the troops would break and run as soon as they were bloodied a liitle. The problem, he figured, lay in those mercenary-trained farmers. Because they were Spanish and thus escaped notice of the Revolution's anti-white intelligence services, they could cause much more havoc behind the lines than the convential reactionaries could. Well, he thought, there will be a reckoning.
OOC: that was a rebel post, I'll have a government one in a couple hours or so.

The 5th Imperial Praetorian Regiment, specialized in counterinsurgency, is ready to assist
No one had seen it coming. When the government troops had moved into the town, they'd gathered in the central square. No one even thought that the rebels might have booby-trapped it. It was an ingenious attack. Before the town had fallen, the rebels had buried about two tons of dynamite under the square. When the soldiers gathered, they'd set it off...
...And as usual, the mercenaries had to clean up the mess. Literally. The rebels had retaken the town, and now the mercenaries were trying to get it back. It went fairly well, however.
"Haridan, I'm giving you a platoon. I need you to simulate two companies with it. I don't know, spread out and make a lot of noise. Shoot anything that moves, or looks like it might be able to. Damnit!" Harrington shouted as he slammed down the receiver on the phone. He didn't have eough men to take that town as fast as the New Goliad government was demanding. "I don't have enough men," he'd said, "My regiment, 2000 men, and what's left of your brigade, about 2300 hundred. The rebels have at least six thousand men in there. I take take it, but I'll need time."

Fifteen miles away, Captain Hannebrink was crouching in the woods with his two platoons and six hundred Spanish loyalists, preparing to ambush the rebel encampment.
"Remember what I taught you," he said in halting Spanish. "We're outnumbered about three to one here. We fight the Malkyeri way. Overwhelm the enemy before he can overwhelm you. EspaƱoles, por la libertad! Nunca se retiramos! Malkyeri, for God and Country! Never retreat!"
With that, they attacked.
OOC: New Goliad TG'd me about the dynamite, so it's cool with him.

IC Rebels:
The rebels fought the mercenaries and the loyalists as best they could, but the attackers had two critical advantages: surprise and night vision equipment. The rebels had thought they'd managed to contain their attackers when suddenly men started falling, in numbers disproportionate to the number of shots the farmers were firing. It took them only a few seconds to realize that the Malkyeri were in the camp, slaughtering rebels with their knives; but that brief time spelled doom for the rebels.
IC Government:
The 7th Army of the Republic of New Goliad was poised to offer the killing blow to the rebels. The main Marxist army was pinned against the Saguaro River, and was in effect trapped. The best news was that the revolution's leader, Hipolito Jimeniz, was with the encircled rebels.
General Horatio Simmons looked at the battle map. The rebels held about three square miles, with their backs to the river...He'd send in the army to crush them like a python, and move the mercenaries across the river to hit them from behind. Finally, the end was in sight.
