OOC: For anyone wandering in. The sole point of this RP is to change my species from BORG to Slivers. A sliver is a snake like creature. A Sliver, unlike a snake, has two large blade like Talons in front. They have a regular nose and have a regular human sized head, however, a sliver head is kind of Triangular, with the nose coming out to a snout. I will explain more on slivers as I go along. For the First part of the thread, I need no outside posts.

IC, BORG

Planet Riptide.
A Cube beams down 50,000 drones. Roughly have of its crew compliment. The Drones set to work clearing a Large part of the Forest for research. After they were done The Cube Itself began to settle down to land. in another part of the world. Another Cube settles down on top of a cliff in fairly mountinous terrain. In an ocean, a Cube pauses above the water for a minute, alters itself to beable to handle water and the plunges itself beneath th ocean waves. Out on the Plains a Cube settles down. Out in the swamps a Cube has already landed. In a Part of the World that has all the other Terrain Types, A Kings ship lands. After all ships land, the Drones begin Altering all of the Ships to become permanit Research fixtures on the Ground, led by the Kings ship.

/ooc like M:TG slivers?

OOC: Exactly that. Infact In Real Life I own a deck that consists of nothing but Slivers and I call it The Riptide Project. I Realize a sliver that gives me the power to draw a card would be useless in Nationstates. However, Since the Cards were often asscociated with knowledge. Those slivers will be My researchers once the Transistion is complete. I will have to use a little bit of Magic with my slivers, but, that is forth coming.

IC, BORG: The drones had finished altering the Cubes to become research centers. The Drones then went forth and began catching these strange-snake like creatures with their little snake like appendages. King Warfare was so amused with these he dubbed the species 'Sliver' Reasearch would then begin over then begin as soon as enough specimens were caught. Warfare had the Research centers tap into the energy from the Xessmithian energy sails around Ocean Star. perhaps in a year they could begin their research.

BORG

Specimens from all over the world had been collected. All six research centers began genetic testing on the slivers, hoping to breed them into an even stronger species the BORG could control. However, it would take 4 years for the base research to be completed.

BORG

The slivers were enhanced in many ways. their small appendages were greatly enhanced and increased. They were also sharpened. The slivers were also given a size enhancment to make them much larger than they were. in stead of their old 3 foot length, they were proportionatly enhanced to 7 feet in length, and that was the smallest of them. The Largest of them, a sliver that seemed to be their king measured out to be 100 feet in length. She was a big one. The slivers were kept asleep because while they were breifly awake, it was discovered that the genetic testing enhanced their receptivness to an unusual force on this planet. this energy, gave them many unusual abilities. King Warfare decided to make a sliver with great telepathic ability, and to give the queen the ability to call her slivers, over great distances, an ability that would grant her the undying loyalty of the slivers. The reason behind al this, was so that the Collective could controll them.

OOC: Does M:TG mean Magic The Gathering? And I'm like seeing the fruits of my labour.

OOC: Yes M:TG does equal Magic The Gathering. I completly realize Genetic testing runs against the grain of most people. as I stated in my first post, I realized just how limited the BORG are and how Godmoddish they seem to be. Because of this, I am changing my species, but am doing it in sch a way that the BORG did it to themselves. This was the entirwe point of buying the dyson Bubble so I could go through with my plans. I have other plans for it after I lose the BORG and gain the slivers. I have thought about this offline for a while now and I have come to understand just how I can utilize the slivers in a fashion here at Nationstates. A sliver that grants me the ability to draw a card when ever I successfully attack my enemies will not help me on NS. On the other hand, a sliver that is really smart, can comunicate with other species Telepathicly, and can feed on the mental energies of my enemies, when I get them, nobody can go through life without at least one enemy, I will be able to learn thier secrets. This is all OOC so nobody can use it against me in character. I have had this planned for a long time.

BORG

It took a few months, but the sliver Queen now had absolute athourity over the Slivers. The Collective succeeded in creating a Super intelligent sliver with psionic powers. It was called the Synapse sliver. The mysterious energy feild had disappeared as the months went by. Further tests indicated that the slivers had absorbed it all. The BORG were going to leave the slivers asleep for a few more months, but something happened. The Slivers, woke up.

Sliver

He had awoken. An unamed Sliver in the Mountains research facility awoke in a strange thing he did not understand. He had no way of understanding that he was in a Glass tube with a gel designed to keep creatures asleep. He only knew it no longer affected him. An ansestral Memory ran through his mind. Memories of crowling through the Grass with the warm sun on your back. Memories of drinking beside a still stream. Memories of the Queen. The Queen, She was still alive, he could feel it. Her presence beckoned him. But how could he get out? He looked down at himself he was diffrent, his talons extended out to a point, He instinctivly knew that they were sharp. He poked the mysterious substance His talons moved easily, but poked something he could not see. All he could see was blue. He did not know what it was, but he knew it was not water. He poked the mysterious thing a few more times, each time poking further and further. Finally he poked foward with all his might and broke through.

The Blue cleared away, He was alive and in a giant gray creatures stomach, or at least that was what he thought. he lay on the floor. He looked around and saw others of his kind in tall things. He turned around and saw the one he came out of, Right next to it was another tube with a white sliver in it. This sliver was looking at him with pleading eyes. Its claws were not long and pointy. The Sliver was also contained in a tall thing with out that mysterious thing that was not water. The red sliver, For that was his color, crawled over to the white sliver, The further away from the white sliver, the more tired he got. The closer he got the less tired he was, when he got right next to the White slivers tall thing something amazing happend.

Memories flashed through his mind of things that did not happen to him, Memories of what was a painful beggining, Poked and Prodded, exposed to large amounts of energy, Energy, what was this energy, Other memories went through him, Memories of blue slivers that knew alot, Slivers that knew what energy was and how they came to be this way, The red sliver realized his talons were like a thing called blades, The blue slivers heard as much from things that called themselves BORG. These BORG were the ones who had altered them. The BORG called him a bladed sliver, and the white one a Ward sliver, The ward sliver appeared to be immune to what ever it chose to be immune to.

As the memories were flashing through both slivers minds the noticed something happen, The white slivers talons grew long and pointy, The Red sliver was no longer affected by the gel, The Red sliver slashed at what he now knew as a Stasis tube before him. The white sliver slashed from within.

The white sliver was free, and know the both had a problem, a Drone was standing before them, The drone tried to start putting both slivers back so he could reseal their tubes, but Red was having none of it. These things did horrible things to him and his kind and irrevocably altered them, he slashed as hard as he could at the Drone and succeeded in cutting him in half.

The two slivers afterwards washed themslelves off, now both were free of the Goo from reds' tube,

We should free the others, the white one said.
We should, I am glad you are okay, the red one said.
We have much to learn about our new forms, the white one said.
Lets get started, what if another BORG comes?

With that being said both slivers proceeded to cut open all the other tubes in the room, all of which containd blade slivers. It was done with great timing beccause right after they had finished freeing thier brethren, a small army of drones suddenly appeared.

Quick my brothers, shouted the original Blade sliver to the others, destroy these monsters before they can hurt us some more.

What was unoticed by the slivers wa that do to all of them being there together, was, that their talons had grown super sharp. The slivers almost as one creature leaped at the Drones and slaughtered them all.

Are their more in other places?, one sliver asked.
I don't know, another responded.
The Queen, the Queen beckons can't you feel it?
Calm down all of you, the white sliver yelled. we have to figure out how to get out of here first.

So the slivers went, killing drones as they found them and trying to find a way out.

BORG

King Warfare was upset with himself, He had not expected this to happen. He had reinforcement drones continually sent until he realized that the Drones were just dying.

BORG


King Warfare was livid, all the slivers had escaped from the mountains research facility.

Sliver

The slivers were headed down the mountain, suddenly they spy a swamp ahead.


Does anybody know were we are going?
How should I know we've all been trapped in those strange tube things.
quiet everybody, here comes something.

Here comes something indeed, floating towards them was an ancester spirit.

I am a ghost of you forefathers. I am a specter. That which has happened here must not be allowed to stand. They have thrown up an energy barrier at the research center here. Trapped within are hundreds of living slivers, the things done to them has turned their skin black as night. I can help you get through it. Said the ancester spirit known as a spectral sliver

The slivers went with the spectral sliver and they came upon the sheilds.

This is the place I told you of. said the Spectral sliver.

The Sliver goes over to the energy barrier, concentrated and slowly a hole formed infront of the shield and behind it. A shield through the world of the spirit and into the compound. The living slivers seemed apprehensive at first until one of them pointed out that the ancesters were there to guide them.
one by one the slivers went through the doorway and into the compound beyond.

A vessel hovered near the planet; its operators brows furrowed as he transmitted essential data.
"My lord...something is odd here. Last time we made a pass by, there was only indigenous life. Now there is evidence of high technology; and very odd readings..."
"Biological?"
"Thats the problem...Its a mix of biological, mechanical and electronic signals."
"An Inquisition task force will be sent; if the Xenos are found to be hostile; an Exterminatus will be declared."
"Aye, lord"

OOC: You do realize of course, that there is a large planet sized BORG Sphere in orbit around that same planet right? As I stated in my first post, I am simply changing species. I will need some help to defeat my former BORG self though.

IC, BORG: Warfare was stunned, somebody actually dared to enter his space, his territory, what could they possibly want?

Warfare: We are the BORG. We own this sector of space and several sectors beyond, either explain yourself now or prepare to be assimilated.

"We are a peaceful scouting party; searching for deep space mineral deposits and new mining colonies. We mean you no harm and will retreat. We apologise for the intrusion into your realm" And with that, the ship retreated; heading out of BORG space

Sliver

The slivers swept through the research center lik a plague. It was obvious the BORG were unprepared for something to successfully get past the sheilds. The only problem was, was a group of slivers were being kept inside a vault.

How do we get in? one sliver asked
That wall is one we can't cut through. said another.

At that moment, the acid slivers, called that because they developed the ability to produce a natural acid, joined them.

Why are we all out here, an acid sliver asked.
We can't cut through the wall, said the origanal red sliver.
Show me, said the black acid sliver.

The blade slivers set to work on the wall and were half way through it before they realized that they had acid dripping from their talons.

Hey! what is happening here? shouted a red sliver from somewhere.
simple, said the acid sliver, the mnemonic sivers figured out that we have the ability to share others abilities when we get close enough to each other. now that you know this, shall we finish freeing them from the vault before they die?

The blade sivers, upon hearing of the possibility of death set to work and seven of them were sucked in by a vacuum when they broke through. The mnemonic slivers lay in a heap barely staying alive, thankful for the rush of air.

After a short recovery, for all the slivers really needed was some air, the slivers cut through the wall on the other side of the compound, left through another spirit door thanks to the ancestors, and continued through the swamps.

Warfare: as thanks for leaving peacefully, we will send you the coordinates for a sector of space Rich in minerals, metals, and stones, some precious, some common. all planets in this area are capable of supporting life. If you wish you may have that sector, It is too far away from our territory, but you might want to consider a jump gate of some sort.

"We thank you for your untold generosity"
He transmits the coordinates to Chronosia Prime.
"We hope to see more of your race; there could be much to learn from one another"

Sliver

The slivers had made their way out of the swamps. They were in the middle of another range of mountains when the spotted what appeared to be a large bird-like creature winging their way towards them. Suddenly their backs were itching greatly as wings suddenly sprouted from their backs in a semi-magical glow of light. That was when they realized, it must be another kind of sliver. The entire group of slivers took off in an attempt to catch up to it. After the usual sharing of memories and then introductions the settaled down on a nearby cliff to talk.

So your sayin their might be other Research facilities, the winged sliver asked.
Yes we think there might be but we do no know how many, the white sliver said.
I know of one, It was the one I escaped from It is in what is known as the ocean, the winged sliver said.
Well, lets go, The Magma slivers all choursed.

Thanks to all the strength the slivers were able to provide for each other, for that was the magma slivers ability, they were able to reach the ocean quickly, they flew out a little way, then, without warning, they dived down folowing the lead of the origanel winged sliver, The swam down and down, the pressure of the water was building and building untill at last the research center was insight. This time however, the BORG were having none of it. They immiediatly started shooting at the sliverssome of the slivers were hurt and some were killled, but before the majority were hit, the white sliver, jumped in the path of one got hit with it concentrated, and immunized the slivers against the phasers.

The slivers swam on, a little weaker for the loss but good all the same, when the got to the sheilds, the discovered a section that was not sheilded, and entered there. after they found a pretty big section that had air in it, the rested breifly, and then tried to go through the doorway, but found it had another energy sheild. The slivers thought about it, huddled together, and prayed for an ancestor spirit to open a spirit gateway to inside the facility. After their prayer was answered, they swarmed through the halls attacking everything in sight, enraged that their brothers were lost in baattle, walls ware attacked, data bases were attacked, they found the central energy core and attacked that, and discovered that that was the heart of the facility, and if they destroyed that, they "killed" the facility.

The slivers quickly found and free the slivers in the facility, They found that with the powersof the super intelligent synapse slivers, they could read each others minds. The slivers left the now destroyed facility, and swam up to the surface, and flew on, looking for both the Queen, and other research centers.

Sliver

The slivers had most of their kind free, They had found the plains research center, and the forest center on the same day, and destroyed both of them entirely. Now they were headed towards the last center, the one that was a combination of the other five. They found it quickly, following the call of their Queen. They were inside, but, discovered, that there was something else, entirely. They saw king Warfare as he once was, before the Assimilation of Warhaven. Based entirely on their experiences, the slivers were convinced that it was the BORG who did this to him, they thought he was a God to be able to resist it enough to have a personality, to be able to speak as an individual. If only, they new the truth.

This was the realization of his dream, He felt something new inside him, but it did not go away when he turned off his feelings. He was proud for sure, but, he felt like he was inside a reacter.

Warfare:You will be assimilated, you will join me in perfecting the universe. There is a vast imperfection in all of the other races in creation, you will help me perfect them, or, if perfection is not possible, you will help me destroy them.

Warfare did not understand why, yet somehow, that statement felt, wrong.

Sliver

The slivers Knew he must not be free from the grip of the BORG. A synapse sliver crawled up and spoke:

We cannot help you on your quest to destroy the universe. From the little we know, truly that is what would happen. In the process, even you might get destroyed. As powerful as you truely must be, we must destroy you. the Horrible things the BORG have done to us cannot be allowed to be done against others.

With that, the slivers launched themselves at the BORG EN MASSE.
Warfare teleported out barely in time. The BORG were slaughtered mercelessly.

What had he done? for the first time, Warfare actually doubted himself. He decided to Watch them from afar for a few years, and see what happened.

Sliver

They had found their queen at last. The slivers were extremly happy. They also discovered, besides the queen, the only female slivers in existence. The Brood Mothers. There was one of each color. The slivers began to spread out over Riptide. Peace had come at last to Riptide, or had it?

Sliver

It happened a year later, the queen gave birth to a black winged sliver. It grew up quickly, as all slivers do, and was out flying one day.

Hey Blackie, I bet you can't fly higher than I can, A bue Winged sliver said.
I can too, Blackie responded.
Well than prove it, ready set, go, the blue one responded.

Both slivers stopped, readyed themselves, and flew straight up. no sliver before hand had ever gotten far above the clouds.

Hey stop, you can't go that high Blackie, the winged sliver shouted in a worried panic. Blackie paid him no heed, it felt right. He flew on, and then something happened. He started to glow, and the sky grew steadily darker.
Soon he broke through the atmosphere and was in the far reaches of space, he was stunned. Blackie flew around awhile, but then stopped cold as he saw a giant research center above the planet. He thought breifly about taking it on single-handedly, but decided he wanted the others abilities. Blackie started back down and because the blue slivers taught him how to fly he was able to land safely.

Whe were you? How high did you go. what did you see? Blackie rejoined the hive and all the questions answered themselves.

We shall destroy it and free our brethren within, declared the Sliver Queen.
Obviously with the powers of the Black Winged Sliver, who from this point on shall be known as a space sliver, we can travel in space. I shall join you, my children, in this endeveour, for it is not right, that I should stay here in saftey, while my children face great perils. Thus at this time tomorrow, I decree, that we The Slivers of Riptide shall rise, against the BORG of Warhaven, The Queen Decreed.

Both Sliver and BORG

The slivers all started out the next day, The space sliver right next to the Queen. Soon they discovered Unimatrix. The Slivers did not understand that the BORG only had researc centers on Riptide and that this was merely the Entire Collective.

Warfare saw the entire hive of sliversheaded for Unimatrix via the sensors. He didn't know what to think. That new part of him was even stronger now and would not go away. The BORG part took over and had unimatrix begin shooting everything at the Slivers. This new part did not want to hurt the slivers and was struggling for dominance within him.

The slivers saw the ship begin unloading everything it had. The ward slivers concentrated as the energy weapons began hitting them, concentrated, and made the slivers immune to it all. Due to all the diffrent abilities reresented there, the slivers were untouchable, because no physical weapons were being used. The BORG nanites were useless because of the high solar winds, and then the slivers were in Unimatrix. they set to work spreading through out the ship like a plague. They could not understand why they could not find more slivers. the Synapse sliver found Coputer terminals and began reading the contents of the BORG computers, amazed at what they read. soon they knew everything the Collective knew.

Warfare was prouder than ever with his slivers, they actually got past the computers. The BORG part took over, the 8472 drones were sent out.

The slivers did not like the new forms of drones. the synapse slivers said they were trying to crush the hive mind. The slivers took that as a threat to the queen and fell upon the New drones like a curse. Soon most of the BORG collective was wiped out.

Warfare was unable to lead effectivly, both parts of him were fighting for control, Warfare had to decide upon one of them or be destroyed in the struggle. He thought really hard about both sides. Suddenly it hits him, all the atrocities his drones comitted. He suddenly realized just how horrible the BORG were. He decided, He would not let his drones win. Suddenly, a miracle happened. He lost his connection with the collective, This new part of him welled up and overflowed. His technological parts started falling off like rain.
His Eye implant fell out and was replaced by a new healthy eye. Soon, He had no BORG technology within him Hair started growing, and it was Red, his eyes resumed their normal Red coloring. The nanites all lay in a heap before him. He suddenly realized he had no clothes, at the though, clothes suddenly apeared. a Golden glow suddenly infused his body.

The Slivers had no idea what happened. all of a sudden it all stopped. Every drone every action everything suddenly just stopped.

Warfare watched in horror as before him a new warfare was assembled, and turned to him.

You really didn't think you could bet me did you, Drone Warfare said.
I did not like that new feeling so I got rid of it, Now I am perfect, I have new biological parts. your precious Slivers will now die.

Everything suddenly restarted, except this time, the BORG were actually hitting the slivers with their hands. The Slivers were still okay thanks to the Healing of the Essence Slivers. Soon the slivers found the core, but it was to heavily sheilded for them to get through. The slivers thought about it, and decided to pray to Warfare to help them.

Warfare felt strange, all of a sudden he could here a billion voices praying in unison. He could feel himself being transported, but he knew not how.

It worked Warfare had appeared in alll his Godliness, They knew they were right in their original assumption that he was a God.
Please Lord Warfare, Help us destroy the heart of the beast, They all said in unison, indicating the main core.

Warfare knew now how this all happened. The slivers thought of him as a God and their belief was so strong that he actually became one. He had a duty to them now, he had to help them in anyway possible. He walked over to a nearby terminal, and set the auto destruct, as Unimatrix began to explode he used the last of the ships energy to teleport them back to riptide. at that, Unimatrix exploded ina spectacular fashion.

Warfare found himself someplace new, someplace he had necer been. The breeze was light, the sun was overhead. Everything was serene and perfect, this must be paradise, Warfare thought.

The slivers saw the explosen in the sky, their enemy was defeated at last, the BORG, were no more.

OOC: If anyone wishes to have a peaceful encounter with the slivers, go ahead and post.

The Queen was deep in thought.
"We have a responsibility to those who call themselves allies. We did join of our own free will. If they go to war though, how could we possibly help them if we don't have ships like they do? I know, I will breed slivers even larger than myself, they call their great ships capitol ships, these will be known as capitol slivers, and they will combine space, essence,and ward abilitys combined with their own ability to grow excessivly large. Another thought hit the Queen, Why not simply build ships like they do?

The Queen decided, she raised her head and with a great voice that could be heard for miles she said in sliverese "My children, head my word and listen well. The time has come for us to reach beyond the confines of this planet. Starting this day, I shall breed a new breed of sliver whose abilities shall become clear in time, I also order the synapse and mnemonic slivers to begin building ships to traverse space because the powers of the space sliver are limited. After some of these ships have prove safe, we shall look for other planets that produce the Holy Aether, or something similar. On those planets and those planets only shall we settle.

A cheer went up from the citizens of Riptide.

Today is a great day, I am proud to announce the birth of the capitol slivers. Our Scientists are also proud to announce that we now have four spaceships similar to our allies, but made from BORG technology. I am also proud to announce that one capitol sliver and one Sliver ship, the S.S.Weatherlight, shall be sent to aid The Order of Truth. They shall remain Loyal to me at all times. That will leave us with three capitol slivers and three sliver ships.

A great cheer resounded at the Queens words. Thats not all my children, with the advent of ships, I am also proud to announce that I will be giving birth to a sliver known as an overlord sliver. Fourteen such slivers shall be born. It is time we spread throughout our system. On each planet, An overlord shall rule, bowing only to me. I have consulted with the Synapse and mnemonic slivers and have determined the division of slivers. This shall be made known when you recieve a message in the mail. Every Riptide citizen shall recieve one. It will tell you if you are staying, going, and what to do. This is so we may grow stronger to be more worthy of King Warfare.
No Cheer sounded this time as the Queen went back into her Cave. All the slivers on Riptide were confering with each other.

One single ship, the S.S. Enterprise was sent out to scout for a world to colonize, the Slivers convinced the Queen to spread slowly. Within days the slivers had found a world surrounded by five small suns, one green, one red, one blue, one white, and one hidden by a dense Black nebula, so that it seemed to Glow black.The world was made entirely of Metal The Slivers had sat down on top of a small hill, the entire surface was like looking at a mirror. Thus the Slivers dubbed it, Mirroden. A chime seemed to fill the air, following the sound, the slivers found a feild of grass, but the grass was metal, and razor sharp. The Slivers decided to Fly around the world once or twice and found an ocean of Quick Silver. The Slivers were happy with their new world and its abnormalities. This was home. The Æther flowed gently this day from Mirroden.
