Today there was mass celebrations and distributions of wine and bread on the streets of the Imperial Capital of Corva. For, the Empress has finally given birth to a son and longed for heir!
When His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Alexander II married for the second time to the Princess Anne of the Scandinvans, there were nationwide prayers for an heir. When it was announced to the public four months later that the Empress had concieved, preperations went into effect.
According to imperial law, a potential heir must male, a Tharran national, born of an imperial father, and mother of at least noble status, and closest to the emperor via agnatic promigeniture. Few people in the dynasty actually fit into this catagory.
However, today, the Empress went into labor, and then gave birth at the Imperial Palace of Corva to a son. The highest peers and princes of the blood were allowed to watch, and the announcement was soon made to the court, and likewise to the ecsatatic people by the Lord Herald.
The boy was named "His Imperial Highness, Karl Alexander Xavier Erik zu Tharra, Prince Imperial of Tharra, Prince of Tharra."
Emperor Alexander II, himself aged 19, reportidly gave the Empress (aged 17)a magnificent set of jewels, valued at no less than 1.2 million livres. A gift of 4 million livres was also given to the public.
The christening is set for October 22, and any foreign officials may attend or send representitives.
