Grand Duke Gwalcavad II informed the High Council today that once all of Yr Widdfa's current foreign situations and military operations were wrapped up, he plans to step down as leader of the nation. The major contenders for his postions have already stepped up. Duke Gwalcavad has determined to poll the international community for a few days to get their openion on just who ought to be the Grand Duke, though, of course, the final decision will be left to the people.

Sir Gwalcmai O'Shay: top advisor to the Duke. He has served as the Prime Minister and right hand man to the Duke these past few years. His plans seem to be to continue the current foreign policy but to institute government initiatives to increase civil rights. He has the backing of the Duke and is generally respected among the people.

Prince Elphin MacGweddno: The Prince of the Feifdom of Gwenedd. He is obviously popular in that territory but is also a sort of local hero among the people of Yr Widdfa as he is a great military man and won many victories in his early days. His agenda seems to be focused on military issues. He plans to increase national defense and claims that he will bring Yr Widdfa into her rightful place as a military power in the world.

Sean O'Brian: A member of the Council. He is generally concidered to be an able administrator, but until now was relatively unknown. He is generally opposed in Gwenedd due to his general dislike of the military. He has promised that, if elected, he will bring a bill before the Council to bring Yr Widdfa into the UN. This move has mixed support among the populace, who generally distrust any institution that dictates foreign policy to other nations. Besides this he plans to keep most things the same except for a major slash in the defense budget.
