Statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs

Ever since the first World War, soldier and civilian alike have suffered miserably from the impact of chemical and biological warfare on a global scale.

By perverting the great discoveries made by scientists all over the world, proliferation of these weapons of mass destruction is unprecendented. Formerly, only larger, more responsible states could afford to manufacture the weapons. Now, every rogue nation and their cow can easily purchase poisons capable of murdering millions.

A line must be drawn. No longer can the world ignore the horrific results of using these weapons.

Therefore, the Militant Imperium of Tyrandis is hosting an international conference in our capital city of Sydney, at the Hotel Astoria, to deal with this problem.

Accomodations for all representatives will be of the highest quality that we can offer.

OOC: Leaving this open till tomorrow, when the conference commences. For simplicity's sake, all representatives have arrived safely at the Hotel. You may have up to two guards accompany your delegate.

Note that there are neither guns, bombs, nor any other weapons allowed.

Communique:

"After it's recent re-introduction into the international community, Pro-Patria seeks to re-etablish contact to it's neighbours and voice it's opinion freely once more.
Ever since either were developed, Pro-Patria condemned nations stockpiling or using biological or chemical agents. As it stands, many modern armys are equipped with filter systems and decon-teams that can prevent significant damage. Civilians are not. And the damage or deaths inflicted are painful and unnecessary.
Thus our opinion on biological and chemical weapons intented for mass murder or mass destruction is clear(ly negative).
As such, we would like for a Pro-Patrian delegation to attend the conference."

Colodia, a nation that has recently developed nuclear and chemical weapons in the former Michael Pepper administration, would like to attend this conference.

We understand that rogue nations are becoming more and more dangerous and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stop them from acquiring such weapons. We understand that under-the-table bargains by "responsible" and older nations have contributed to this cause. And we would like to bring such nations to justice and stop what they are doing.

Of course, we want to hear everyone else's opinion on the matter.

as a small Republic, Blacktower fully supports small nations owning Checmical and Biological Arms. Nuclear arms are not made to be owned by small nations like myself, but BioChem weapons are perfect for Deterent weapons systems. I currently have the Nemisis 9 Virus loaded in 200 ICBM's ready to be fired at a moments notice should a nation attack. This, and basically only this keeps larger nations from attacking.

Pro-Patria would like to disagree with this statement. The best this would do if used to deter a significantly larger nation from attacking is guarantee most of your country has a nice shiny surface of radioactive glass afterwards.

Especially as you said, you are using ICBM's. Against the fleet landing on your shore? Against the army crossing your border? Or against civilians in a far-off land that for whatever reason decided to attack you?

Naturally, there are usually several views on reasons given for a war, and most likely the international community would stand up for you if the attack was unjustified.

Actually, if your nation abstains from it's Biological Weapons program(+chemical) and destroys it's storage of ICBM's, Pro-Patria would internationally guarantee your security and offer defensive support lest you attacked first or provoked an international incident.
This would last until you, as a nation, are strong enough to fend for yourself or until you decide to ignore this and re-develop ABC arms.

Since some of the research advances we have made (in the area of environmental conservation, monitoring and clean up) and made avalible to other nations have been used to futher their research into the production of chemical and biological weapons, we would like to attend the conference.

No matter the outcome, The Lightning Star shall do what it wishes. Seeing how we produce $3,000,000,000,000 worth of Biological/chemical weapons each year, and we make quite alot of money selling it to these "Rouge States", we stand only to lose.

And if you are saying that these weapons will be used against me, i am afraid you can't scare me. We create them, we also know how to neutralize them.

Besides, if we got rid of our WMD Aresenal and Light-chemical weapons for infantry, what would happen to our military? It would be in shambles!

And if we WERE to attend, then we would deffinetly be in FAVOR of creating an open Chemical/biological weapons market. It would raise our income by 300%!(and we are already quite wealthy).

Of course, we arent going to attend so you don't have to worry. If we were to enter this conference, we'd have no backing at all. What a one-sided conference it shall be...

OOC: if you refer to a thirdgeek nseconomy search, i'd like to remind you that it is by no means a 'final' when it comes to national politics. It just so happens the only options offering military increase lately were opposing education and research. Which is my main Agenda. This by no means says i do not spend money on Defense. Quite the opposite is true though as a non-war-mongering nation i admit having a lower military budget than many competitors. I like the 0$ budget in NSeconomy though. i see it as a 'MASKED' military spending.
