The four transport ships cut threw the soft ice of Bhagus Bay. Their two month journey ends here. Escorted by two Asia Cruisers and four Korsar Frigates, they felt safe. 4,000 colonists, and the 516th Cold Weather Infantry Division. It was time to start a new life on this new Island, and they would start it at Bhagus. Small boats were lowered into the water with what would be the first humans on Gaighinn Asanand Island.

Within a week prebuilt shelters were set up, and they were living comfortably in the temperate environment. Further North and East it got much much colder as the scouts discovered... for now they would have to live off supplies from the ships until they could plant their own crops.

After hearing of the new island on the internets "Black" sites, The President of Pentova decide to send 10,000 colonists with an army division to the south west of the Island. They set sail immediatly the next day.

Colonization has begun slowly. There are 20,000 Soldiers, but only 4,000 Colonists. Constuction of Habitats moved slowly. Many of the Soldiers helped, but most were out exploring the country side. Many colonists worked to create a pier, where supplies could come much easier to them from the ships. Helicopters make frequent trips back and forth, but unfortunatly its usually due to sickness or frostbite or some other malady. Barley, wheat, and Tobaco farms had sprung up, along with a mill to process the wheat. Futher towards the mountains, the ground became frozen, unable to be used for proper farming. The tobaco farmers found their crops failing due to the short season, and as such switched to wheat. Some Colonists are debating whether or not to build a small makeshift runway, for aircraft. It would happen, but in time. Food is easy to come by, Bread and Water being the main choice, but beans, potatoes, carrots are all available. Meat comes in the form of Polar Bears hunted in the deeper tundra.

Word spread of other nationalities colonizing the land. Guard shelters were set up along the perimeter to make sure none sallied forth into the Artitsan area.

-=-=East of the Settlement, at Bhagus Natural Gas Field=-=-

Pvt. Ryan O'Harland stood outside of his Wolf GAZ 2990 surveying the landscape. He was frozen. It must have been below -50 out. His thermal suit did nothing, he was beginning to get frostbitten. He clicked off the safety of his rifle and shot off a few rounds... yup still worked. He looked around. The place was barren and desolate. The three other Soldiers in his Fireteam were surveying the land, looking for the natural gas pocket indicated on the Satellite map. It was proving difficult to find. Ryan wanted to go back to the settlement and get some coffee, but no, he had to do extended patrol. He never should have kissed the lieutants daughter. Oh well. What a shitty place to make a settlement he thought. Well atleast he wasn't in the teams that had to explore the Southern Mountains... that would be horrible. His friend James Vustrankov was with that group... but James loved to mountain climb. Ryan sighed, and ate a piece of his nutritionbar before making his Radio checkin.

We have received recon info from our OSS-1 region, the Father World. Lord Quetzel reports a medium-to-large island being colonized by several nations.

The King has expressed interest in establishing a presence on this "new" island.

As a consequence, the King has ordered the deployment of CBG's 27 and 60.
They have orders to stay well off the coast of the island and send only Recon Rangers and expeditionary scientists to the nearest coast ( north coast of island).

Xeraph states that they have only peaceful intent, and wish to discuss zones/regions with the other nations seeking to claim parts of the island.

respectfully,

Gen. Strickland, CMDR XF Forces, in the name of the King

[Proclamation of UCSNE Government]
The United City States of New Empire hereby claims the Eirel temperate zone as their territory. Anyone who attempts to claim it will be met with the force of the UCS armed forces.

[55th Airborne, "Thunder Children"]

The mass of big, box winged cargo jets were escorted by several dozen sleek looking fighters. There were squadrons of F-133 Valkyries, along with F/A-131s for attack and EW. The aircraft were all running at full stealth and EMCON, their Athena systems engaged.

The men sat in the redlit bays of the massive C-82 'Atlas' transports. They looked like the elite troopers of a scifi movie. They were certainly elite, and their gear was certainly high tech. The 55th had swept through Markov, decimating the Markovian military in the areas around their cities and plains. They clutched a variety of futuristic looking weapons, M32, M9 rifles, grenade launchers, M280, M55, machineguns, M27 sniper rifles, and a variety of other weaponry. Enhanced optic/Lowlight/Thermal goggles sat on their helmets, along with a VHUD. They wore M110 battledress and were SLICS linked.

"STAND UP!"

"HOOK UP!"

And so it went. The hold glowed green now, as the doors opened and wind whipped the jumpmasters. The men began to jump, the entire division making the drop, along with some LAUV from cargo aircraft (Light Armored Utility Vehicle).

The men dropped into the northeast section of Eirel, setting up a perimeter.

Meanwhile, the 5th Fleet was making it's departure to the area. The fleet was a Marine group, heavily escorted. Along with that, though, a very unique weapon would be coming. The SSACVN-01 Nike would be traveling with the group in their mission to secure the rest of Eirel.

The area felt a bit like home, Jason thought. He was from the plains west of the Peringeln range, and this felt like home. The cold air bothered some, especially those from the Kurtz islands or Point Dasch area. But he liked it. Sure the plants were a bit different, but he was relaxed as he dug the foxhole. It was nice, seeing land untouched by man. The soldiers looked so out of place among the virgin plain. A UAV droned overhead, mapping the area.

Finally, he finished the hole. He threw a his chute over the top as rain began to drop down, and slept.

Dawn came with fingertips of rose and a bit of a chill to the coast. PFC Jason Rocov woke up with the rest of the men, and watched the sun rise. Slowly, a series of black specks appeared in the sun. And then they grew larger. Massive. The sound was that of the C-95 Pelican ULTRAWIG, a massive ekroplan with 1,400 tons of cargo each. The huge aircraft splashed down on the water, and began disgorging combat engineers. Bulldozers and other equipment was rolled out as the engineers and civilian contractors began to make the first UCSNE settlement in Eirel.

For the most part, Colonization hadn't gone much further then 5 miles from the coast. It was much warmer here, where the North Atlantic current brought heat. But it was windy, making windchill a big factor. Crops were now being raised in large biodomes, in order to protect them from the cold, and blistering wind. Four people have died due to the cold, but no one has expressed interest in leaving.

Polar Bears and Seals have become the main diet of the Colonists, served alongside potatoes. Leaks have also been grown, as to create Potato Leak Soup, which will keep longer then meat. Explorations to the mountains have revealed excellent spots for watch towers. 120 Soldiers have set out in GAZ 2990's to build a small outpost on a mountain. They take with them the little metal they currently have.

The lack of resources problem, is being fixed slowly. Since the docks have been completed, small supply ships have been sent from Artitsa itself, containing food, alcohol, toys for the children, more colonists, more pre-fab homes, and other supplies.

The Outpost is raised roughly 2,000ft above the surrounding area, providing a valuable lookout over the area. Once more steal arrives, the Soldiers hope to extend the outpost so it encircles the entire mountain. A large tower dominates the base, with an observation deck. There are a few Machinegun nests, but for the most part they are unmanned due to the cold. The last large furnace was installed in this outpost, so to keep the 120 soldier garrison nice and warm. Trips are made weekly back to the settlement for food.

A message has been sent back to Hyland-Nikolaas Industries. It reads the following:
We will soon begin mining of the southern Bhagus Mountains. In order to achieve this we need the following from you:
Drilling Equipment
Hard Hats, Elevators, other mining equipment
A low-grade refinery
As you know, you are funding this colony. 85% of the steel we will produce from the Ore refined will goto You, the other 15% we will use to further supply ourselves. Do you approve?

This plan sounds excellent. We shall ship men from our UCSNE facilities to your area with equipment and crew via Pelican ULTRAWIGs contracted from the Nightfall Systems airfleet, as well as contracted freighters.
Jamaica Reborn

2,000 Jamaican settlers landed on the Isle of Anad, and quickly sent scouts out to, well, scout the land. They reviewed about a 30 mile radius, and once they gave the 2,000 Jamaicans aboard the ships on the coast the "ok", they poured onto the island. Heavy machines were brought out to clear the trees for future building space, but for the meantime, the 2,000 settlers made homes out of tents and makeshift shelters.

____________________________________________________________________

Nine days had passed by since the Jamaicans had landed on the Isle of Anan. A 10 mile area had been successfully cleared of trees and now the settlers were beginning to build on land. There were 500 Jamaican soldiers accompanying the 2,000 civilians, and they were doing most of the building. The morale of the overall population was at a medium, they had not expected the weather to be as cold as it was, being so used to tropical climates at home back in Jamaica. There main reason for being here was a limited living space in Jamaica, and they planned to make a home for themselves here. They all knew each other well, since most had lived in the same community back in Jamaica. The leader of the group was Arnold Jackson, a popular figure among the people, he had been the one to suggest the bold move of leaving Jamaica for the cold lands they were at now. He had recieved funding from the Jamaican government, and was loaned 5 cargo ships to carry people, soldiers, equipment and supplies.

This was all in agreement that he would find valuable natural resources in this new land within a five year period, be it gold, oil or even seasoning. Arnold had learned of this Island through the magic of the internet, and now he was here in person, wrapped in several layers of clothes and looking at the people below him work on their new homes from the view of a ship. So far they were making good progress and things were going much faster than expected. Once a sufficient town was set up, they'd explore the Island for resources and possibly inhabitants.

Upon further inspection of Island, Xeraph would like to lay claim to the following section of Asanad Isle:

the coastal area running from the north western section of Cahlig Bay to the northeastern area of the Eirel Plains. The coastal strip will extend from the shoreline to an indeterminate border 20 miles inland.

This area includes the Cahlig River Region and the Onaranas Mountains.

Jamaica Reborn

It had been 3 weeks since the Jamaicans had set foot on this strange new land, and rapid development had taken place. The Jamaican settlers had upgraded, through hardwork, from tents and makeshift shelters, to cement houses, much like the ones in Jamaica. The small houses were powered by propane gas shipments coming in from the homeland and effectively provided the people with heat and light. Boundaries had been set within a 10 mile radius circling around the settlement. Blatant red markers were put on trees bordering the small town to warn that once that point was passed you were on your own. Much of the forests had yet to have been tread through, so whatever was in them had yet to be discovered by the Jamaicans. The leader of the settlement, Arnold Jackson, resided on the second level of the townhall, which was in the middle of the town and was also the largest building. The Jamaican flag was placed in front of the building flying from a tall metal pole so that it was visible by the whole town.

Dirt paths had been made by the soldier's Humvees, weaving in and out of the settlement as paved roads would do. The soldiers had set up wooden outlooks on four points of the settlement, always keeping a watchful eye on the forest for any strange activity. Armed with SA 33 Assault Rifles, they were sure they could handle any local tribes, or other small settlements looking to expand.

After a small meeting with the settlers and a brief voting process, the people decided to call the land "New Kingston", after the capital of their homeland. Their next project was to begin working on a sturdy dock for which more supplies from Jamaica could come in.

At 0400 a small transport ship land on the shore of the island near the black forest unloading one modified M1 and T-78 tank and two monidfied military grade Humvees, along with two heavy transport vehicles. teh first transport truck held a small comunications and habitation unit on the bed of teh unit as a mobile headquarters, the second held supplies and transtported 40 standard troops and 10 special operations units. The vehicles were licenced as mercenaries under the Imperial Nation of Gul Dar sent on a diplomatic mission to scout and hold a small patch of land fo an outpost and possible colony, secondary objectiives were to contact any nations interested in aquiring a trade contract with the empire for military assistance and alliance in case of a war of territory becoming necceary. The nation's made trade was its mercenary army, they began to move throgh the Black Forest and stopped in the tundra between the Black and Dead Forests to set up base camp at 1700. Their target for possible outpost territory was listed as the Nadhlig River in a tundra sector near the Nadhlig Mountains. The Small force was well equippe for combat and was already being fed inormation from Gul Dar's intracite Information technological department, wary of teh large amount of soliders in teh area and on the island the national military has decided that if a full scale war was to erupt on teh island that reinforcements be brought in to assist the.. "highest bidding nation" to help favor them in the war.

[Eirel Coast

There were scatterings of settlements, mostly prefab buildings and ecodomes. While the UCSNE technically did not have forces and settlements throughout the entire Eirel plains area, they did have a mighty big stick to back up their words.

The 5th Fleet, along with the Nike, had arrived a few days earlier, and already the marines were coming ashore. They would be guarding the coastal settlements and some of the south border. Many of the civilians were having difficulty to the presence of the heavily armed young men, but many felt more secure knowing that they were on their side.

[55th Airborne]
[East border]

The Airborne was on the outskirts of the territory in a few small settlements, most of the area was monitored through UAVs. But the patrols were cold and boring, so soldiers found some creative ideas for killing time, among other things.

"See that?"

"What?"

The soldiers sat in the foxholes, listening to music or trying to read with their thick gloves. The two troopers in one of the holes had just heard a rustling in the grass, and had sprang up to find the source of it.

"There."

Among the scrub, a small white head with a long pair of ears popped up, beady black eyes surveying the surroundings.

"Hey, one of those arctic bunnies or something. I wonder why it's so close..."

"It's an arctic hare, dumbass," replied the soldier, who really didn't know, but though that hare sounded more proper than bunny, "Say... You hungry?"

"Oh, come on man. You shoot that thing with an ATAR," he said, slapping the butt of his assault rifle for emphasis, "There's not gonna be anything to eat."

"I know... Just wait a bit."

The trooper, grinning oddly, pulled out his cleaning kit, along with two brown blocks, blank rounds for the ATAR's caseless design. He withdrew his magazine and inserted the blank round into the chamber, and then shoved the cleaning rod down the barrel.

"Jesus..."

The soldier took a knee, and pulled the rifle to his shoulder. The report of the rifle sounded, causing alarm with some of the troops.

"What the hell are you doing, Dumont?"

The trooper smiled even wider as he jogged down to where the animal lay, the cleaning rod deep in the ground, and straight through it. After a few fumbling attempts to remove it with his gloved hands, he pulled out the body and called, "Meat for the tribe!"

The rabbit stew back at camp was good.

New Kingston - Week 5

With each passing day, the newly named Jamaican settlement of New Kingston began to look more and more like a miniature Jamaica. Communications with the homeland had been established thanks to radio towers built by the soldiers. Word of the small settlement and it's present success, swept through Jamaica and more colonists were promised to arrive within the coming weeks. Jamaican soldiers and working colonists were already preparing for their arrival, plowing down deeper into the forest for more living space. The land beneath the settlement was fertile, and farmers had begun to plow into the earth. A variety of different seeds were sewn into the ground, the colonists could expect: potatoes, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, turnip greens, cotton and even watermelon in a few short months.

Grass had begun to sprout back out of the muddy grounds which the Jamaicans had built their cement houses on. The site of green turf brought a feeling of home to many, some planted trees and flowers in their yards in hopes that they would be able to grow in this chilly climate. As for the roads, they had yet to be paved, but gravel was among one of things promised by the homeland in a few weeks.

A dock was currently being constructed to make it easier for ships from Jamaica, and later on trade ships to unload their cargo onto the island. The site of the island community from an incoming ship was a peaceful one, with most of the houses being built on a grassy plain with the evergreen forests in the background. The 2,000 settlers made themselves at home, living out life day to day, much the same way as they did back in Jamaica. In the daytime children could be seen playing a variety of games in their yards, while at night people gathered in the townhall, normally for recreational purposes that Arnold Jackson looked over.

The only out of the ordinary thing to be reported from this small settlement, were the strange noises reported by patrolling soldiers coming from out of the forests. At night while on patrol, or looking out from one of the four outposts, many soldiers have reported hearing shrill shreaks, and what sounds like the distant beating of drums. But the sounds quickly fade after being heard, falling back into the forest along with whoever emitted them in the first place. This creepy bit of news has mainly stayed with Arnold Jackson and the 500 soldiers stationed their, not wanting to cause a panic or scare among the people.

"Doesn't look inhabited. I wonder what the King wants with this God-forsaken bit of island?"
"It's not you place to think about what the King wants, boy", came a gruff voice from behind Jackson.
Jackson glanced back and smiled to see Senator Newman. The Senator was placed on this ship to see first-hand what the island looked like and report directly to the King.
"From what I hear, sir, several nations are sniffing around this place. Think we'll see some action?"
Newman stared at the young Captain. "Why do young men always want to fight....and die" he thought.

Suddenly, a cry from above.

ic: The mining colonists had begun to set up an Ore mine along with the Fortress in the mountains. Infact, the mine was interwoven with the Outpost, and the Civvys and Soldiers stayed in the same area's. Excavation was going well, hundreds of tons of Ore went to the minature processing plant. From there a couple dozen tons went to the Colonists, who promptly used them to set up more buildings and homes. An actual deep-water port had been considered, as Cement was beginning to become available. The other hundreds of tons of Steel went back home to Artitsa on large freighters. It was all well and good, but Lieutenant Danskigrov was unhappy with expansion so far. Another 5,000 Colonists were coming, but that wouldn't be enough. He had something in mind though. He would bring the wives and families of the 516th Infantry Division. And if the Soldiers did not have wives or girlfriends, or significant others, a free trip to the colony would be offered to available women (of course he wanted attractive women. Nothing but the best for his men) and they would be paid for their services at the colony, on one stipulation. They had to match up with a Soldier. It was ingenius!

Pvt McHendrix and Pfc Alexikov moved along the beaten path, in their UAZ-2990 truck. They had been sniffing around the Dead Forest, fording the small, shallow river. Four other soldiers sat in the back of the truck, listening to the music playing over the sound system. One or two were eating rations, another cleaning his weapon. It had been yet another uneventful survery, nothing interesting. Pvt McHendrix put a little more weight down on the peddle, speeding upto a nice 80kmh. It was to late by the time he noticed the animal zip out of the corner of his eye, to infront of the Truck. He slammed on the breaks, and went skidding sideways. He viciously turned the wheel to regain control, but he spun out. He looked around. Some of the Soldiers in the back cursed as they unbuckled their seatbelts. Alexikov turned and saw what had caused them to spin out. It wasn't an animal at all, but a person. A person wearing Tac-Armour and holding a carbine. The figure raised the gun and sprayed the UAZ-2990 with automatic fire. The armoured hulk repelled the bullets. The soldiers in the back opened up the rear door, and piled out. Alexikov got on the Automated 12.7mm MG and opened up on the unknown fighter, who jumped behind a large stump of a tree. The guy must have realized the trunk wouldn't give sufficient protection against 12.7mm ammo, 'cause he bolted. This time he jumped behind a large rock. He leaned out every few seconds to snap off a burst. The 7 Artitsan Soldiers, including McHendrix who had left his Drivers seat to help engage the enemy, began advancing in a stop and go fashion. Alexikov got on the horn, reporting position and situation. A Mi-35 Hind-Z was promised, but it would take atleast 5 minutes for arrival. The fight might be over by then...

McHendrix loaded his 30mm underslung grenade launcher, and fired off a round behind the rock. Two other soldiers rounded the other side a second after only to find the assailent dead. Cpl O'Connel leaned over to check the soldier. Gunfire erupted from the treeline of the Dead Forest, spattering against the hard rock. O'Connel took one in the back and went down. Two of the other soldiers hoisted him up, and they fell back to the GAZ-2990, under cover from the automated MG. The gunfire from the treeline grew to a war, and a hail of bullets clanged off the armoured sides of the truck. An RPG whistled through the air, smashing into the hard earth nearby sending a plume of Snow and dirt into the air. The team moved O'Connel into the back of the truck, while McHendrix took the Drivers seat once again. The soldiers opened up the firing slits, and began taking shots at the treeline. McHendrix dropped the hammer and got the hell out of there. The Mi-35 never did come.

When they ROTB'd, they discovered the Hind had some difficulties in the extreme cold. The team then reported the attack back to the Lieutenant... it was very disturbing information for the whole settlement.

[North of Eirel]
[Marine Advance Recon]

"Sir! You see that?"

The group of vehicles rumbled across the plains, a KAF90F Bolo I MBT the largest among them. The huge vehicle mounted a 140mm ETC gun, and missiles and light weapons bristled from it's turret and hull as a pair of KAT50 APC trundled behind it.

The commander of the tank tapped a few buttons on his keyboard, and swung the camera on the miniturret of the KAF out to sea. He grumbled as he focused on the gray blob, and then after a few more adjustments, examined it.

"Ship? It's not one of ours... They're closer to Eirel."

"Alright, Hodgkins, DeBeers, dump the crunchies!"

The men in the first APC, Hodgkins, didn't hear the message at first. An mp3 player was hooked up to the charlie box of the APC, and as usual, it was unusally loud music.

"What?" Hodgkins called over the radio, the chorus of 'Burn, Burn' still raging in the background.

"We gotta unidentified contact out at sea! Dump your men, and get behind that ridge for hull down!"

"Everyone out, you heard the man!"

The APCs did a turn 90, and backed over the ridge so that their small turrets were showing. The tank did the same. The two squads of infantry spread out, the music from the open doors of their APCs still blared as the men slammed themselves onto the cold ground. The sounds of equipment hitting the dirt and grass, the slapping and cocking of weapons A line of rifle and MG barrels protruded from the grass as the team lurked behind the ridge. They quickly radioed their command that something had been spotted, and prepared.

"It's time for some real rock and roll man, heavy fuckin' metal."

"Shaddup, Marine. Let's get our shit together."

OOC: I use supercav subfighters, so don't call me a hypcrite. But Dropships are not modern tech. The term modern tech implies anything not modern is not allowed. Supercav subfighters may not be space tech, but they are 2040+, not modern. Also, Gravitic pulse rifles are not space tech, but they are not modern. Anything not modern should be excluded.

After nearly two weeks at see, the settlers finally heard it....

"LAND HO!!!"

The sea-blasted crew and colonists, forgetting their safety, leaned dangerously close to the frigid waters over the edge, to catch a glimpse of their new home. They were amazed by its beauty, and so they called it Noco, in their language, Beautiful Land, and waited impatiently for the crago to be loaded onto the smaller transports, and then eagerly climbed into their's when it was time. The boats set off for the new world, and Noco's land was touched.

OOC: I am saying that I landed on the south-west farmlands.

When the colonists set foot on Noco, the first thing that they did was send scouts out in a five mile radius to see the area. They found a suitable, fertile, flat space of land and headed back for the base camp.

2 hours later

The colonists had gotten back in their low bottom boats, and headed towards the river. The site for the new city would be right next to the river, and the colonists wanted to get started as soon as possible. Before they had gotten on the island, they had elected (Ret.) Maj. Gary Williams as their governor of sorts. He was to organize the city, and give instructions to the settlers in their land of Noco.

Cpl. O'Connel died on the operating table. The bullet had severed his spinal column, there was nothing they could do, but avenge now.

It was decided the 516th would go back to the Dead Forest. But this time they would come in strength. Four Mi-35 Hind-Z's had been prepped, and this time they were in perfect working condition. 209th Platoon would be moving out in the Mi-35's, all 32 soldiers. They helicopters would be accompanied by Mi-28N attack helicopters, 6 in number. It was a half-hour trip, and Pvt McHendrix was eager to get revenge.

The Dead Forest was in clear view now. The Pilots switched to thermal imaging, almost immediatly picking up humanoid shapes. They were at the treeline. Upon further inspection, they were in a tent, around a campfire. There was approxamtly a dozen or so people, all seemed armed. There were more thermal images deep in the forest, but it was difficult to pick them out. All 10 Heli's opened up with their Chainguns, ripping up the hard earth with 23mm and 30mm gunfire. Bodies disintigrated and blood splashed against the stark white snow. Gunfire erupted once more from the treeline, pattering off the armoured gunships. It was a mistake, it drew the Mi-28N's attention over to them. They launched over 3 dozen rockets each into the treeline, splintering tree's, launching snow 30 feet in the air. Massive plumes of fire flared into the sky along with the bodies. The Mi-35's dropped down, and unloaded the platoon. The soldiers dropped down to the prone position, the soldiers with SAW's opened up, spraying the forest with heavy fire. Squad by Squad they moved upto the camp, as the Helicopters poured on the support fire from above. After a minute or two the firing stopped. Squad Alfa moved upto the camp, while the other three firetimes moved into Overwatch. Pvt McHendrix was in Alfa Squad. He had scored a kill, and he was proud. The bodies in the camp were torn to pieces by the heavy gunfire. It was hard to determine their origins. The camp itself leant nothing to the imagination; Green Tents, no maps, no documents. Bravo Team moved upto the treeline, now Alfa and the other two Fireteams provided overwatch. The forest was quiet. Dead quiet.

The bodies over here were even worse. The rockets had done a job on the assailents, vaporizing most. But Bravo team spotted something deeper in the forest. Using their Thermal Goggles they could see more figures, fleeing deeper into the woods. Two Hind-Z's dropped down, and picked up Alfa and Charlie Teams, whisking them away towards the center of the Forest, supported by three Mi-28N's. The other two Hinds and 3 Havoc's stayed with the other two teams as they entered the forest. They easily tracked their targets through the forest, their Thermal goggles picking them up. The teams stayed in constant contact. This allowed the two helicopter borne teams to land in a clearing and cut off the retreating enemy. As the enemy turned to run, they were face to face with the other squads. They made use of their rifle butts, and incapacitating shots. 4 men were taken prisoner. The other 12 or so were killed in the hand to hand skirmish envolving Bayonets. A Mi-171 crested the Horizon, with another 8 Artitsan Soldiers, here to pick up the POW's and whisk them back to interrogation... to bad for the enemy, Artitsa did not have laws against physical interrogation.

After the scouts had come back and reported that there was nothing more dangerous than a foxes den within a two mile radius, the Major authorized building in the area. They decided to call the river Iko Tempas (River Roaring) and started building the main building of the town, The city hall. This would comprise of the mess hall, the sleeping quarters for the government, and an all around docking station. As Iko Tempas was shallow but swift, only shallow-bottomed motor boats could make it to the town by sea. Any other visitors would have to come over the harsh, frozen tundra visible for miles and miles from the steel construction of the city hall. The settlers felt safe here. They could see anything coming on any but the worst days they presumed, and if a snowstorm occured, their city hall was made of reinforced, cold proof steel. The Major was very happy with his citizens progress in this new land.

The three story city hall had been completed with the final swing of the hammer being swung by the Major. He then christianed the hall Loc Dinival. The scouts had recently been sent back out, to explore a much larger area now that the newly equipped hummers had arrived from Pentova. (They have insulated walls, freeze proof brakes and transmission, spiked tires for grip on ice and snow, and heated engines so they don't freeze after shortage of use, and a electronic compass and GPS.)
They were now able to explore 50 miles in each direction, without fear of an icy death. The hummer scout had recently spotted a Large mountain, but it was currently out of their range.
"Well, I guess we'll just have to wait for the next shipment. I hear there are going to be more colonists too." said the Major to his aid.
"Yes sir, there are going to be more colonists, and as such, I think that we should start building a hospital with more capacity."
"Right. Do it then."

The Captain swung the binoculars towards shore.............and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Lt. Stevens, send out the patrol boats and make sure their armed with torpedoes."

"Sgt. Hastings, get your Roughnecks down to the Launch Platform. You guys are going exploring."

Jackson didn't want to say anything about what he thought he saw at the edge of the treeline, just up from the shore's edge. That it was taller than the average man, and covered in hair was bad enough. But that the apparition was armed with a converted AK-47 sent chills through him. "The King said that they had all been rounded up and destroyed.....", he thought.

According to the map he had, his CBG was anchored off Cahlig Bay, about 12 miles out from the mouth of the Bay. To the south east were a range of mountains. Beyond that, he could not see.

" I hope that I didn't see what I thought I saw", he mumbled to himself.

The men would travel in vehicles for speed and saftey of the troops.

The battalion assembeled, and began their push. The troops sat inside the vehicles, making themselves occupied, remembering what the General in charge of the 88th had said.

"... I've been hearing a lot of shit from the suits over the legality of this issue. And it's just that. Shit.

Some nation may have lain claim to the coast up to the bay, but do they have a presence? No. If they want the land, they can deal with the USCMC. The control of the territory relies on the presence of power, not the bitching of some diplomat. We are going to advance to the river, and we're going to hold that position. And if they authorize it, we're gonna advance until every goddamn drop of oil is under our control. That's why we came here. It's not for the condo real estate.

And I have complete faith that you men will pulp whoever's in our way into red snow if anyone has the balls to try and take what we hold from us."

Jamaica Reborn
19-10-2004, 03:41
New Kingston - Week 9

Two Jamaican troops walked along the edge of the forest behind the settlement. They frequently turned their heads to the right, looking at the settlement's lights some 4 miles away and wishing they were in warm homes rather than stomping around out near the forest. One soldier walked slightly in front of the other, and they chit chattered about nothing since there was a lack of anything else to do.

Soldier 1: "So we get stuck wit this damn patrol, yet again. I'm telling you mon, there is nothing out there in those forests, we should be in town....warm, along with everyone else."

The second soldier shook his head briefly as he trailed behind the first. He readjusted the green hard top beret on his head, hoping to keep in more, heat.

Soldier 2: "There's no point in complainin', mon. Didn't ya mother every tell you that? Besides walkin' out here gives you a chance to think, y'know, about life and other things. Gives you a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle for awhile"

Soldier 1: "What hustle and bustle, there's nothing down there mon! We've only got a population of 2,000, you talk like we're still in Jamaica. Fuck this walking with nature bullshit, it's not walking with nature, it's walking in the cold freezing your ass off. What I need...what all the troops need, are women mon. Y'know? I hope the next ship bringin' colonists is packed wit females, all the ones in this damn settlement are taken."

The 2nd soldier didn't respond and the first kept walking and talking.

Soldier 1: "And when are they going to build a damn barracks? We still sleep in those damn dirty tents, while the civilians prance around in their homes, what utter bullshit!"

The 1st soldier saw a red marking on one of the trees ahead, which was his signal to turn around and make another pace along the treeline. He gasped as he made an about face in the opposite direction. His patrol partner was some 30 feet in front of him laying on his back and completely prone. He ran toward him screaming, "Rodney! Are you alright mon?!? Rodney what the hell happened?!?". He gripped his SA 33 Assault Rifle as he ran, glancing into the treeline for any movement. When he actually reached the body of his fallen partner, he took a few steps back in surprise.

A wooden arrow had been shot through the side of his skull, and the pointed end jutted out of his temple, with pieces of brain matter hanging off of it. Rodney's eyes were clothes and blood leaked from his nose, hears, eyes and mouth.

"Oh my God.", was all the 1st soldier could spit out in horror. As, he reached in his insulated, green camo jacket for his radio, an arrow struck him in his right thigh and he fell sideways to the ground. "Fuck!", he screamed in pain. He pulled his SA 33 from underneath his body and held it in his right arm, "You son of a bitch!", screamed the soldier as he opened up fire into the treeline blindly. Another wooden arrow shot out of the forest and pierced the ground to the right of his body. He used his gun as a kickstand and slowly got himself up from the ground. He held the SA 33 up with both hands and sent one last spray of bullet fire into the trees before hobbling as fast as he could back to the settlement.

He heard manic laughter and crazed screams erupting from the forests as he ran. This only prompted him to hobble faster, as he reached for his radio again, this time retrieving it.

"This is Patrol Team 2, Rodney is down and I'm injured. I need a Humvee out to section 2 immediately to get me out of here, I've got a leg injury and don't know how long I can run out here. I haven't looked back but someone could be on my trail.", The soldier gasped for air as he spoke, running with an arrow in his thigh was getting the best of him. Luckily within 5 minutes a Humvee swirved out to his location and took him back to base. It seemed there was now trouble in the once peaceful settlement.

It doesn't take much time to roll a fully mechanized infantry unit over plains or tundra... I can cover hundreds of miles a day. However, I have very little settlements. Most of the area between my borders and my front is empty. It's not like the lemmings are a security threat.

The men arrived at the river, and immediately began setting up. Several 'field reactors', small pebblebed reactors on all terrain armored chassis, were deployed to the rear, their cables hooked up to heat generators for the network of trenches they were building. The trenches were draped with material that adjusted to ambient temperature and then coated with snow. The ventholes for the heat would be dispersed around, not giving away the positions of the soldiers holes. Artillery was assembled in the rear, and the men were ready to hold against anyone that came their way.

A Military fortification had been set up between two Rivers over the gas pocket. Four Pebblebed Reactors had been brought to the Colony. Two were in use with Civillians to power the homes. Satellite Dishes had been set up to allow for easy communications. Many colonists enjoyed the comforts of old home, including Computers, Internet, and Television. A phone network would soon be set up as more people came.

The other two reactors lay deep within the Military Fortification, along with 4 prisoners who wished they were dead.

New Kingston- Week 10

News of the attacked patrol spread through the small settlement of 2,000 like wildfire. 1 soldier had been killed by an arrow, another wounded in the leg by an arrow. The arrow that was pulled from the surviving soldier's leg bore strange markings on it, reminiscent of Native Americans. When a platoon was sent out to find and retrieve the dead soldier's body they found nothing but the soldier's head, which had been hacked apparently with an axe from his shoulders. His "remains" were buried there on the island, he was the first person to die since the Jamaicans first landed on the Isle of Anad. Now with one wounded soldier and one dead, questions began to arise over who was out there lurking in the forests, the settlers now knew that they were definately not alone.

Mayor Arnold Jackson, as he now called himself, called for a town meeting in the large townhall building placed in the center of the settlement. Men, women and children packed into the building, awaiting what Mayor Jackson had to say. He strode in from behind the crowd and they parted for him like the red sea, he was accompanied on either side by soldiers as he walked towards the front of the building. When he reached the front he stepped onto a cement platform and began to speak.

"People of New Kingston, I called you all here today because we are presented with a threat to our peaceful way of life here on this island. There are others here as well, we are not alone, and we can only assume that those others want us gone from the actions they have taken. I have contacted Swoonie Woo, Di Dude of Jamaica, and he has promised the arrival of 4,000 troops with various ranges of equipment by next week, as well as 9,000 more colonists to gain a better foothold on the island. When the troops arrive we will push into the forest and flush these evil beings out, they have taken one of our own, now all of theirs shall be taken. This is all!", Jackson stepped down and was escorted up the stairs and into his private quarters.

The people were left to chit chatter about what they had just heard, excited for revenge and nervous about the arrival of more people. They had built more homes but they didn't know if they were enough for 9,000 people.

New Kingston - Week 12

The small settlement had quadrupled in size during a two week period where over 4,000 troops and 9,000 more colonists had arrived. The settlers already there had prepared for their arrival well and everyone was comfortable housed in nearly identical cement houses, excluding the troops who slept and lived in large barracks scattered around the settlement. The troops had brought with them: 4,000 SA 33 Assault Rifles, 45 Leopard tanks, 10 T-90 tanks and 30 M4 IFVs. The civilians had grown accustomed to the troops practicing battle tactics in the plains to the left of the settlement, and to the ominous site of the tanks as they rumbled around on the island with troops a top them. The troops were drilling for preparation to enter the forests in search of native encampments. Mayor Jackson made it evident that he wanted these natives found and dealt with.

He pretty much ruled out the thought of them being civilized after their actions against the Jamaican troop patrol. So he figured, if anything, they could be used for labor purposes, to ease the load off of the Jamaican settler's shoulders. 2,000 troops, 30 Leopard tanks, 10 T-90 and 25 M4 IFVs would enter the forest at noon and begin a 40 mile sweep in a circular motion, overlapping their path until they came to a 40 mile mark.

The troops had already been training hard in Jamaica, and now they were just getting in some extra practice. Tuning in their targetting and shooting skills before and checking out their equipment before the time for their assignment came.

Meanwhile, on the civilian front, the dock had been completed and could hold six large cargo ships at any given time. An airstrip had been completed as well on the outskirts of the settlement, in preparation for cargo arriving from Jamaica. And the settlement as a whole had pushed deeper inland, needing the space for all the new colonist. With a population of now 11,000, New Kingston now resembled a medium sized Jamaican town.

Only one prisoner alive now.
He was restrained in a chair, deep under the frozen earth. He was blindfolded, and soldiers/interregators were walking back and forth around him. He had not yielded any answers. I didn't matter though, the other three had gladly given up their purpose on the island. God damn eco-terrorists. They had come to stop the raping of this "virgin land". Well to bad.

A soldier removed a large cloth from a pail of water, placing it flat over the prisoners face. The wet towel lay along the contours of his face. As he breathed in, the towel got sucked in as well. He began to suffocate. The Towel felt like it was going to devour him. Panic consumed his mind. He struggled in his seat, trying to breath but found it impossible. The towel was removed from his face, and he was splashed with icewater. He began to shiver. For a week now, he had been recieving cocaine & heroin almost hourly. But today, they didn't deliver it. Today was the end for the cocaine/heroin. The prisoner was cold. He shook violently, often screaming at times for the drugs. He was slowly going mad. The vault door was closed, the sound of the lock spinning was deafening in the pure white, silent room. Slow elevator music played. It was the last time that door would ever open.

Having YF-23's flying over the colony was becoming annoying. 12 S-500 launchers, and the accompanying radars and guidance systems had been delivered, and were now set up along with several SA-39 systems. A message had been sent across a broadband to all those who could here it. Should a plane overfly Artitsan Land, it will be brought down, and the pilot captured. (See above).

Work on an Airfield has begun. With concrete and steal now being produced by the colonists, a proper airfield will be made. Hangers will be provided for two squadrons of Su-52's and a squadron of Su-54's. At the Military Fortification, now named Galworth, Tanks were delivered on huge flatbed vehicles, arriving by sea. More and More GAZ-2990's were brought, but with Kanuck ATGM launchers, IGLA-S Launchers, AGS-30's, and 14.5mm MG's. It almost seemed that they were preparing for a fight. 10,000 Soldiers would be living and serving at Galworth, with 230 T-80UM7's and 60 M88's. Volk IFV's were also slowly beginning to trickle in, with the number at 120, but expected to reach 1,000. The base was huge now. Five seperate barracks, two motorpools, a small runway for STOVL and VTOL aircraft, Helicopter Hangers, all surrounded by Reinforced walls. 8 Smerch-M, 16 Uragan, and 30 Prima-M MLRs had been set up along the walls, to act as artillery. Hundreds of pieces of Towed Artillery were in a stockpile beside the motorpool.

Around the Artitsan land were small 100 man outposts built into the tundra, with 14 GAZ-2990's for transportation.

This is the Major. Governor of Noco. We have some great news. We have established another city, called Axis Nova, an Airfield, a military base, discovered peacful natives, and begun alliance talks with Wolf America. They will provide us with electricity. More as it happens.

"I will leave two C-130 Hercules in your airfield, just have your people load the supplies for us in them. We are send 10 C-130 Hercules load with the supplies and I will be taking a Grey Dragon Gunship to meet you. ETA is 8 mins." said Commander Macecut.

After 8 mins, the C-130 Hercules are having their cargo unloaded. A crew of 200 workers are waiting for them to tell where to built the power plant. A tall man get out of a Grey Dragon Gunship and lights a Cuban cigar then walks over to the Major.

Ok, this is acceptable, send as many scientists as you like, but if you do not wish to walk over frozen tundra, bring shallow bottomed boats with you for river navigation.

There were now 120,000 civilians in Eirel, mostly along settlements in the coasts and rivers. The farming really was excellent, and the weather not all that bad. It was cold now, but when summer rolled around, things would be much better. Although all plants but some more sensitive ones in ECOntrol habitats were able to grow in Eirel, the biotech industry was making millions preparing genevariants for the new climate.

The military presence remained, and the borders of the area had been heavily mined. But there was still a lot of reconissance left to do. Basic maps were compiled by UAVs, but other than their own colony and that of their ally Artitsa, they had limited information on the other forces and developments in the area. LRRP teams were patrolling the unpopulated section of the Dead Forest, staying unconspicious. There was only one more thing left to do.

Vandellen Settlement Airfield

The F-121E was the newest in it's type. It had massive supercruising turbofans, a stealthy design, active stealth, and advanced sensors. This mission would be run with the Element TARPS system, a massive bladelike structure on the fuselage containing a variety of sensors. The first aircraft would be surveying the Dead Forest area, as it was the closest colony. The YF-23s were assumed to be the best they had in the area, and the radars of the Widows would not be able to burn through the passive and active stealth features until the F-121 was making it's pass. Some AAMs were mounted internally, but there would be a squadron of fighter in UCSNE airspace in case the mission went wrong.

The massive interceptor lifted off the ground and climbed high, traveling at Mach 2 on it's supercruise engines, flying towards the Black Forest.

Having recieved information regarding F-121 testing, the Artitsan National Air Force had a squadron of Su-52's on standby should anything go awry.

The Population of the colony was reaching 300,000. Productivity was steadily increasing. Two Oil Rigs had been set up in Bhagus Bay, and have begun shipping oil to Bhagus to be refined. Steel Shipments to Artitsa have been stepped up, as more men and machinery make their way to the mountains. Natural Gas Pumps have been set up in the Gas Field, also being shipped back to Artitsa. The Airport was 50% complete, requiring more concrete and steal to get the job done.

New Kingston - Week 15

The small colony of New Kingston was now booming with a healthy flow of more Jamaicans coming in from the mainland by the thousands monthly. Its population had swelled to 35,000 and for a short time overcrowding was a problem, but with the new labor force things were looking much better. The new labor force was made up of natives of the island that were taken captive during a military push into the forest just four weeks back. There were well over 4,000 of them, and they were not counted into the city's population. They had been easily broken, when the troops entered their village, most of them scattered, but some put up a futile resistance, resulting in the death of two Jamaicans, and the death of 89 natives. Most of the natives who had ran were hunted down and captured only minutes later, everyone was taken, men, women and children. A large, single, stockpile of gold was found in the village and was, of course taken. Maps were also found, some had huts drawn on them with lines connecting them, suggesting that their were more native villages on the island.

There was talk of building a new town on what was left of the native's village, and most were sure it would happen soon. The only thing really left to do was make a name for it, suggested names were along the lines of 'Vengeance' and 'Victory'. Natives shackled together by the wrists and ankles in long lines of up to 30 could be seen daily in the town, the labor forces were all men and were sent to work on houses and barracks. They were shirtless, and pantsless for that matter, most wore the same rabbit skin loin clothes they had been captured in, and as a result, they smelled horrible. They were forced to walk to their sites of work, shackled together, while troops rode along side them in machine-gun mounted Humvees, hoping one would foolishly attempt to escape. They had light brown skin, and were medium height, the race group they could be most accurately compared to are Latinos. Except that the natives are slightly taller and built larger in frame. The women and children of the natives stayed in heavily guarded, gated off labor camps, where they did much of nothing but wait for their men to return.

Some of the women were taken and put up for auction at the townhall, it was mostly soldiers who bought them. They'd put their money together and "share" the spoils. The natives in the area around New Kingston had been completely conquered, but they had put it on themselves, by killing one Jamaican and wounding another without cause, they proved that they wanted war, and it had brought with ferocity. They were very good workers, and quick learners, alot of New Kingston's growth was due to their labor.

In other developments civilian vehicles had finally arrived to the settlement and now most colonists had a reasonable means of transportation other than carpooling with soldiers in their Humvees. Most civilians felt no sorrow for the shackled natives they passed by daily on their way to their respective locations of work, but some did request of Mayor Jackson that they be freed, only to be quickly denied.

The natives of the Isle of Anad were confused and scared, they had been enslaved in their own homeland, and now they had been taken away to a strange land they knew nothing about. It was cold in this new place, but the people around them had given them sufficient clothing to stay warm. The people here were kinder than the ones who had killed them and shackled them up in Anad, but they were still strange in they eyes of a native. They didn't like the environment they were in, they wished to be back among the nature of the forests they had grown accustomed too. The lights, loud noises, and constant attempts at communication by the new people were all too much. After a few weeks most of them fell into a deep depression, so homesick that they were driven into fits. Some men among them made an attempt to tell the new people that they wanted to return home, and kill the evil men who had invaded, but they didn't understand, it was hopeless.

Just as their own situation seemed to be, but there was a young leader among them, his name was Anuku and he had been one of the strongest warriors back in the village. The elders respected him, and his peers feared him, his say in things held alot of weight. Anuku suggested that the strongest of them leave this strange place, and go back into the woods in search of other natives. They knew they were out there, one of their villages back in Anad had spoke of trade with people from another island, they could only assume they were on this 'other island'. With nothing to lose, a group of 300 men and 40 women agreed to follow him into the forests. The others would stay there, but he promised he would return for them if all went well.

They left in the night, dressed heavily in the clothes the strangers had given to them and with ample supplies of the food they had recieved while under care. They traveled for a week before coming across any sign of life. On the seventh day of travel they came across a young native hunting, at first he was startled by the large group of strangely dressed people, and ran. But once they spoke to him in his own tongue, Iriki, he returned and directed them to his village which was about a mile away.

The village reminded the natives much of home, the rows of huts and the fire pots outside them boiling food brought back memories. They requested of the hunter that they be brought to the chief, and he led them there. They went deep into the village, many people who were doing daily chores stopped what they were doing to look at the large entourage marching through the village and they chatted among themselves. Finally Anuku and company arrived at the largest hut in the village, the hunter pushed the door in and ushered only Anuku inside.

The chief sat inside the hut on a wooden throne, his face was painted with red and white colors and he wore a leather band around his head. Anuku explained himself, telling the cheif of his own nation back in Anad, the nation of Tudah, the mistreatment that his people had endured from the evil invaders, and of the strange place they had traveled from.

The chief was intrigued, he respected Anuku for his courage to travel through strange lands in hope of finding his own kind. But he also resented the invaders, both the ones in Anad and the ones in his own land. Neither one belonged here, and he knew that from what Anuku described, that they were growing in numbers quickly.

Something had to be done, he decided that war was declared, he gave the order to all of his warriors to kill anyone seen in the forest that wasn't a native. He also ordered the word to get out to all the villages in the area that they were being invaded, and they must keep their guard up. He refused to let these people take away what belongs to the natives.

The departure of the natives wasn't much of a suprise. A few interpreters remained, but none of the items of value had been taken. Nobody was worried about attacks since the natives were miles from the settelments, and they had the Paras and marines on the border.

The Eirel River

The supply convoy was all sealed up as the snowfalls were starting to set in. The tanks and AFVs had automated gun turrets. The snow was coming on so thick they had to use thermals and LIDAR to scope out the surrounding area. The rolling plains and shurbs were empty, not much to see. The troops sat inside, wondering about the stories of the natives. But considering that the vehicles were easily resistant to gunfire and grenades, much less arrows, they hoped nothing bad would happen between here and the front lines.

In the few weeks since Anuku and his followers had found the natives of the big island, many important events had happened. Anuku and a few others went back into the one of the invaders settlements during nightfall and led the remaining natives there to the newly found tribes in the woods. Some 800 of them refused to leave, and stayed in the settlement, liking their odds there better than back in the woods. But 1,600 of them came with Anuku in a mass exodus from the settlement, they left freely as they were never held against their will, and they said goodbye forever to those they left behind. Anuku led them back to the tribe in a weeks time just as before, and they quickly intergrated into the tribal society, much like there own in Anad. The cheif of the tribe had sent messagers to several surrounding villages with propositions of an alliance between them all, and all but 2 of the 20 villages accepted.

The natives of the big island now stood under one banner, the banner of Pukaw Soman, which could best be translated to "Native Nation". They were 200,000 strong when put together and with the right tactics could prove a formidable force.

Later that night

Lightbeams from the invaders vehicles pierced the darkness of the forest, and the nightwatchers quickly alerted the chief of this. He told them to carry on with what they rehearsed and they did as they were told.

An akwardly dressed man, with a large coat and tight jeans ran from out of the forest and about 50 infront of the vehicle leading the convoy, he waved his hands back and forth signaling for them to stop.
