OOC: Looking for a war RP

Axis Nova

OOC: Basically, I'm tired of having all these shiny toys and nothing to do with them :(

As such, I would like to do a war RP with someone, with a few conditions as follows

-I want to be the aggressor, at least after the initial exchange of fire/whatnot. My nation's terrain is rather too difficult for invaders to handle.

-You gotta be cool with postmodern/supermodern tech. I can adjust my stuff a bit (if, say, you don't like nuclear powered tanks), but some is not negotiable.

-For info on some of my stuff, search for posts of mine and threads I've started in the past-- that should give you a good idea of my general capabilities.

OOC: *Shrug* I'm pretty much future-tech, although most of my stuff can be taken on by postmodern since I use floating power and damage levels.

(1) If you can come up with an IC reason for the war.

(2) If you accept my future-tech fleet becoming involved three-four days after hostilities, along with two-kilometer-long skyships and antimatter missiles.

(3) If you accept mages, elves, and other such things.

I don't have any space fleet to speak of and I can't deal with antimatter stuff ^^;

I remember talking to you before. You do a lot of magic stuff, right?

I'd be happy to join you...but only as a peacekeeping force (if you read the balkans conflict thing...which in all honesty I think it wasn't nice that you were kicked out of)

I use mainly modern tech but I have some futuristic stuff like AT-ST walkers etc...

Not a lot, and most of it is rooted in standard science, to a degree. (Meaning: I need some sort of exothermic (duh) matter to make big explosions). It's mostly for communications and power generation (because I don't feel like explaining how a fusactor functions).

Yeah...the six Class 7 WMC of a New Paradigm light cruiser dish out three hundred gigatons of punishment per shot, in theory.

Anyhoo, g'luck in your upcoming war......

Weyr doesn't keep a proper fleet in the Sol system. With the Sith and CoreWorlds issue, my space forces are stretched pretty thin. Anyway.....

If you were to attack a Weyrean Terran colony, the colonial council would probably refuse aid from space forces. Colonists don't like having advanced technology around. From what I've seen, your giant airships and ground forces should be able to compete favorably against Weyrean colonial defenders, especially if you have allies.

OOC: You could enter the balkens thread....just tone down the future-modern stuff to please the other peeps
Axis Nova
18-10-2004, 00:29
Weyr: OK, that seems reasonable. We should work out the details, then.

The eternal-dragons: Thanks, but I'm not going to screw with my military and RP with real world stuff I don't have. :P

My nation is on semi-good terms with Weyr.
Basicaly Im a Fantasci nation, mix of magic and futuretech, leaning further toward magic though.
I have a fairly small army, so I could support Weyr, and my troops should be at home in most hostile terrains. Goblins are like that you know :P

Weyr's relationsip with its colonies is not very close. The colony(ies) in question would probably tell Weyr to literally 'shove it'.

I'm at a similar tech level to you, Axis, it's just that rather than uber airships, I have uber subs. But nuclear powered tanks, check. All that jazz is basically present. And I haven't done a good War RP in a long time...

Hmm... I have no wet naval forces (beyond 12 Poseidon-class subs).

Anyways, I agree this could be interesting. Let's try to work out some details, and post the important pieces of tech we both use to see if there will be a problem.

And, of course, to work out WHY we're fighting. :P

I want to get this planned out in advance so that once we get going, the thread won't be clogged up with OOC stuff.

Yes, advance planning is great...

Forgot you had those Poseidons... It'll make for some interesting stuff, eh?

Well, I can refer you to some of my 2020 era stuff that might be more controversial.

Axis Nova
18-10-2004, 02:56
Hmm... If steel is largely unaffected by magic, that means this may be more of an even fight than I thought...

The only real problem I see (provided we're keeping spacecraft and nukes and so forth out of this) are these Keepers of yours. What exactly do they do, are they common, and how can they be stopped?

Also, a lot of my current weapons tech is undergoing upgrades or redesigns thanks to Sileetris, but I'll give you some links so you get a decent idea of what's going on.

Axis Nova military equipment thread: This thread is largely obsolete, and anything newer in the links below this has precedence if it overwrites something listed here. http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=6194750#post6194750

Lucifer class air dreadaught, the largest available airship in the Fleet, and the only one that can airdrop our Admiral A-1 superheavy batle tank: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=343315

Throne class air gunboat: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345340

Latest version of the Admiral A-1: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=341779 (this is in the process of being upgraded force-wide, so expect changes.)

There is also a much larger number of the older model Admiral A-1 in service; while the design is over 70 NS years old, it still remains viable due to the sheer toughness and throw weight. All of the ones in Axis Nova's inventory have been refitted with fusion reactors to eliminate their fuel requirements as well as modern electronics, but otherwise retain their original equipment. http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=365509

Everything else is as in the thread above; you may notice that the Admiral is one of the only tracked units, this is due to the fact that when it was developed, our GEVs were showing a number of vunerabilities that we were having trouble compensating for. I plan to whip up some better designs/replace some of the crap in the original thread provided I have enough time. (Definitely the hover-tanks will be gone).

Edit: Forgot to post some stuff I aquired from Sileetris a while back.

New Empire: Hmm, your stuff looks acceptable. It appears you have better infantry and naval equipment (not that naval matters considering I'm landlocked =P), better (until I get my stuff from Sileetris) light and medium armored units, and better APCs, but I have better main battle tanks and a better air force.

Why not try to do a 3-way war? I don't think I've seen one of those done.
Harmonia Mortus
18-10-2004, 03:12
There is only one Keeper under my control, and he is the leader of my nation so he most likely wont be showing himself on the battlefield in his physical form. While he is basicaly invincible to damage to his body its rather painful and difficult to reanimate.
I was planning to bring a few 'spaceships', nothing big, but to make up for my pisspoor airforce (consisting mostly of WWII era craft).
Axis Nova
18-10-2004, 03:21
Hmm... what are your spaceships armed with?
Harmonia Mortus
18-10-2004, 03:26
The sort of thing you would expect on a sailing ship, cannons.
A typical Ship of the Line mounts about 100 conventional cannons, plus six topside Thaum Cannons (see tech thread for more), and six bottomside. They also have various rail mounted guns and crew-weapons.

18-10-2004, 04:10

New Empire
18-10-2004, 22:27
Well, I assume that since you're an attacker, the war is likely to be fought near the sea (My nation has a huge amount of underwater mining camps and 'floating cities', if you will, which is why I place such a great emphasis on submarines.

As for a reason for war... Well... Considering none of us border you, perhaps someone executes some controversial policies, and that leads to an embargo, and that leads to some ship or plane getting smeared, and then it all goes to hell... Or something like that.
Axis Nova
18-10-2004, 22:36
Hmm... Since my nation is probably the most inaccessible in NS (the only way to move stuff in and out is by air, with one exception which isn't important), Axis Nova has to airlift all of it's stuff everywhere-- which means a large aerial navy, which translates to massive airlift and airdrop capacity.

I could still see my forces going after a port city, though-- such places are transport hubs and logistics centers, and also it might be useful to grab one to assist allies.

My 12 subs will probably stay out of any conflict-- Axis Nova doesn't generally like to admit it HAS them, so they're usually involved in intelligence gathering operations.

Also, the 'purpose' for the war seems to be solid-- that's how things usually happen in NS. We just need to work out details :)
New Empire
18-10-2004, 22:46
Hmm... My government right now is centrist, but I've got several troublespots in my nation... Mainly, Kurtz, an island about the size of Hispanola to the south of my nation. Although I control it, the population is ethnically different than the mainland and several bloody wars have occured over it's independence.

Perhaps I could start a Chechnya like invasion of the nation, martial law, executions? Or someone else could be the source of this trouble... What do you all think?
Harmonia Mortus
19-10-2004, 02:00
Invading Harmonia Mortus might be interesting. Theres a VERY strong magical field around my nation, making technology rather unreliable (Things tend to break or just not work), but my army mostly consists of medeival type armaments.
My army is made up of Goblins, who are excellent guerilla fighters as well as vicious bastards. Theyre about three feet tall, but as strong as a man and generaly a bit psychotic.
There are trolls as well, much more rare, but a good deal more deadly. They range between 7-10 feet tall, are made of rock, and can lift a truck and throw it a good distance, the downside is that most of them are depressingly stupid.
I think Ive talked about my flying corps...
The Thaumic Weapons Division consists of mages and Thaumaturgists (Magic scientists) and are very effective in combat, mostly they take on the role of artillary and hurl magic at long distance, as well as shielding the troops. A few can summon creatures, but they are quite rare, but powerful.
But, that is generaly what you can expect if you invade Harmonia...plus the Keeper who can show up at any point and start hurling giant balls of burning sulphur :)

Harmonia Mortus
20-10-2004, 01:56
The reason for war, maybe?
Lesse...one of us could claim that citizens in Kurtz were 'abused' by the NE govornment, NE drops gassess a village or something and the rest of us have an excuse to invade. The defenders could be 'taken in' by the NE claim that it was, in fact, the invaders who attacked the village/town/whatever...
Basicaly:
Remember the atrocity commited against us that will excuse the attrocity we are about to commit! sort of thing.

Kurtz Island Chain
http://img12.exs.cx/img12/5760/k35.jpg
1. Sestena: 101K population. It's not a very good area for trade vessels, but thanks to the Army Engineers, the steep cliffs of this small industrial city have been hollowed to make large sub pens and excellent protection for C4I. A naval port is also present, along with a naval airfield.
2. Keerjal: 90,000 people, a major source of rare earth elements for the UCSNE.
3. Langsten: A small 36,000 town, surrounded by logging operations. Notable for it's high population of pro Kurtz indepenence insurgents.
4. Sewald, another mine area with about 70,00 people. To the south is the Janus river, which is dotted with farming communities that take advantage of the fertile valley plains.
5,6,8. Kebson, Gonnell and Farel are small towns, based in the coastal plains. The area is another major farming center.
7. North Kurtz Mountain Early warning center. A Mount Cheyenne type arrangement, NKM EWC is built into the slopes of the mountains, with an array of communications and radar equipment. Several OTH-B radar are located here, and the area has heavy air defense.
9. Porran is an example of one of the many mining towns dotting the Kurtz mountains.
10, 11. Kelwold and Sovorn are two examples of trading towns that were devastated by conflict during the Kurtz Insurgencies. The barren areas serve as training camps for the insurgencies and reminders of a bloody past.
12. The Kurtz Mountains are the spine of the island, and are important mining areas for the UCSNE.
13. Sentor is a city of 88 thousand in Kurtz Minor, mostly industrial.
14. Kurtz Minor (city) has a 388 thousand population, and is a huge business and industrial center, and rich in history as a colonial town. The city is connected to Kaznyona by an underwater monorail system, similar to the ones that connect the NEOS.
15. Oper Mountains, a rugged area thought to be home to the insurgency.
16. Querson Mountains, another rugged area.

Foxfield is a large town, and home to a Marine base and fort. It takes advantage of the Foxfield river, and is surrounded by farming area.

Kaparan is the capital of Kurtz, and home to 1.3 Million. It is a big trade area, and industrial center.

Luce lies near the Luce River, and has 375 thousand people living there. To the north, in the more rugged areas is the Holter Air Force Base, which is notable because the majority of the base is underground.

Kaznyona is another air/naval base, and is home to a testing/training range. A large town is located nearby with the same name.

Kaisler and Fullhoud are islands with small populations, mostly jungle.

I go a ways back with New Empire, and after talking a bit with him on AIM, we got a bit of a general idea for me to get some RPing in. I'll try and thicken the plot a bit in the IC RP, but basically as you two fight, I will be sending in contractors to mine the area, and get as much of the resources as possible. Think a Haliburton, but richer.

While I would involve some slight military mobilizations, for the most part there won't be enough men in the conflict to even be noticed. And most likley, I will not become engaged in any large conflict with Nova. Basically, you two still get a nice war, but it flesh's out another side.

New Empire already told me he's fine with this, but I need your approval.
