San Angeles Class Attack Carrier (CVAN)
The San Angeles is a purpose built carrier- it is designed to carry out naval based bomber strikes deep into enemy territory. In order to carry the tactical bomber (the Großes Ungeheuer" Strategic Bomber (http://s4.invisionfree.com/The_NC_Forum/index.php?showtopic=68) is recommended), the San Angeles carries a very small fighter compliment, relatively light armament, and boasts armor protection of less then 4 inches of dedicated armor. During the openning phase of a war, the San Angeles can allow you to bring the pain right to the enemy's homeland. While definitely not a fleet carrier, the San Angeles is a dangerous and deadly foe that must be contended with on the modern battlefield.

Endeavour Class Light Carrier (CVL)
While classified as a Light Carrier, the Endeavour Class is by almost all means a Medium Fleet Carrier. Armed to the teeth, at least for a ship of her type and size, the Endeavour is perfect for those nations that can't spare a Carrier Battle Group for an ocean patrol. While not as heavily armored as the Vulpine, the Endeavour has proven again and again that "oldie" is still a "goodie".

Proxima Class Escort Carrier (CVEN)
The development of the Proxima was something of a fluke. The Royal Navy needed a new platform to train carrier pilots, old Odin Class Light Carriers were unsuited for the task and newer Endeavour and Vulpine Class carriers just couldn't be used for training missions. Out of necessity, brilliance was born. Proximas no longer only train young pilots, they are everywhere in the Royal Navy. From anti-Submarine patrols, Coastal Operations, and Picket Task Forces the venerable Proxima can be seen sailing the seas.

Admiral Leahy Class Heavy Command Cruiser (CCBN)
he Admiral Leahy Class CCBN is designed to be first and foremost a Joint Command Ship (JCS) on steriods. This is an Admiral's ship. With extremely heavy armor and top of the line countermeasures, ECM, and ECCCM she can ensure the safety of all the top brass onboard. That doesn't mean that the Admiral Leahy isn't without offensive punch, she packs fifteen heavy hitting eighteen inch ETCs and two hundred Muckraker Heavy ASM loaded in the Solsburg HVLS.

The Admiral Leahy's true strength comes from it's SLTCS unit (Strategic Level Total Command System). Using groups, or nodes, of small supercomputers located throughout the ship and the most advanced electronics systems around the Leahy is capable of tracking, commanding, and coordinating up to 248 million IGU (Individual Guidable Units). In normal combat situations this number is drastically reduced to just over 2.68 million IGUs.

Coral Sea Class Guided Missile Light Battleship (BBLGN)
The Coral Sea Class BBLGN is the succesor to the highly effective and top selling Vengence Class, the Coral Sea has 50% more missile capacity than the Vengence and in early test has shown an increase in probably survivability of nearly 30%.
The Coral Sea has the firpower, size, and speed of a battleship but lacks the full on protection of a Gettysburg Class BBGN. With armor on average only 3/5ths the thickness of the Gettysburg, the Coral Sea is not meant for close range combat. While it can survive an attack, any commander would be advised to turn the Coral Sea away from the combat zone at flanking speed.

Valiant Class Battlecruiser (BCN)
The Valiant, based off of the venerable Vengence Class, is designed to fill two gaps in the Royal Navy. The Valiant is first and foremost a coastal bombardment platform. 98 vertical launch cells, provide the Valiant with both long range sea-to-land bombardment capability but also with a formidible anti-ship and air defense package. The second gap the Valiant provides is that of a hard hitting ship to ship combatant.

During the shakedown cruise of the HNS Valiant it was decided by the Royal Navy that a conventional ETC gun variant was necessary. Using the same turret design, for several different reasons, the Valiant can be fitted with traditional 11-inch ETCs.
However, it should be noted that due to the gun placement on the Valiant, firing all the turrets straight ahead at the same time will result in damage...serious damage.

Olympia Class Large Cruiser, Flight IIb [Interdiction Cruiser] (CB)
During several quarantine and blockade operations it was obvious to the Royal Navy that it lacked a large ship for short range operations. At close ranges missiles just wouldn't work and the guns fitted on most Royal Navy warships were too light; that would all change. The main battery of the Olympia, while not heavy enough to seriously threaten other capital ships, is more than enough to deal with the vessels it is designed to encounter.

While the Appomattox Class has the raw short range firepower, its small size and crew compliment prohibit it from performing lengthy blockade duties. The Olympia Class, a large and heavily armored cruiser, fills the gap. With an impressive array of short range weapons, a large marine compliment, and heavy armor the Olympia is perfect for blockades and "close in" defensive operations.

Submarines:

Brutus Class Fast Attack Submarine (SSN)
The first domestically produced Fast Attack Submarine, the Brutus is the result of years of research and mountains of collected information. Using the newest and latest composities as well as more tradition titanium, the Brutus is light, sturdy, and among the quietest submarines around. Quiet, fast, and deadly the Brutus Class will sink its target before it has a chance to defend itself.

Utilizing pump jet technology, the Brutus is capable of sustained underwater highspeeds while still running in near-silent mode. The Octuple Vertical Launch Long Range Missile Launchers are a new addition to the HDC long list of weapons systems. Using this new system Anti-shipping and standard cruise missiles can be launched at depths up to 300 feet. This is possible because "at depth" the missiles are launched in a disposable watertight canister. The Sail Mounted Short Range Missile Launcher is a retractable short range missle launcher used for anti-air defense or for light anti-shipping missiles.

Caesar Class Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN), Caesar Class Guided Missile Submarine (SSGN)
The first domestically produced SSBN and SSGN, the Caesar Class will form the third edge of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire's Strategic Deterrence Force. Using a traditional double hull construction technique as well as the addition of exterior sonar defeating rubber coating, the Caesar is capable of extended high speed and deep depth missions while maintaining a level of quiteness almost inconceiveble in other submarines.

The Caesar utilizes new Pump Jet Propulor technology to provide high speed and low noise propulsion. The Caesar is capable of launching its missiles at depths up to 300 feet. This is possible because "at depth" the missiles are launched in a disposable watertight canister that allows the missile to launch itself normaly once it reaches the proper depth. The two Sail Mounted Short Range Missile Launchers are retractable short range missle launchers used for anti-air defense or for light anti-shipping missiles.

The SSGN version of the Caesar Class utilizes the Octuple Vertical Launch Long Range Missile Launchers found on the Brutus Class. Using this system Anti-shipping and standard cruise missiles can be launched at depths up to 300 feet. This is possible because "at depth" the missiles are launched in a disposable watertight canister. Due to the size of the Casear's hull and the 32 missile 'hardpoints', the Caesar is able to fire 256 FastFalcon or other such missiles.

Majesty Class Land Attack Destroyer (DDN)
Technically a Cruiser, the Majesty Class provides the Royal Navy and Royal Marines with fast deployable land attack capability. Her large marine compliment is useful not only for shore operations but also for ship-to-ship boardings. The 8 inch ETCs on the Majesty are something of an oddity, in combat situations the crews tend to use them in the capacity of a anti-ship and anti-air gun. While not possessing the high rate of fire of a 5 inch gun, the 8 inch does pack more of a punch.

Command Ships:

Eugene Class Joint Command Ship (LCC)
The Eugene Class LCC is a pure command ship. Meant to be at the center of a Fleet or at the rear of an amphibous action, the Eugene is a floating Command and Control Center. She has radar and computer systems comparable to top of the line battleships, dreadnaughts, and carriers and flag facilities second to none. With all these extras one thing had to give: armor. The Eugene, while still an armored vessel, is only protected by an armor scheme with a maximum thickness of three inches.
The Eugene gives your Admirals and Generals a place to plan an entire war without having the be stationed aboard a larger warship. Why risk the life of your senior military leaders or why waste a perfectly good battleship when you can use a Eugene?

Landing Craft:

Texarkana Class LSV (http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/besson2.jpg)
The prime mission of the ship is the direct transport and discharge of liquid and dry cargo to shallow terminal areas, to remote under-developed coastlines and on inland waterways. The ships also provide a drive-through capability by mating the bow ramp to the neighbouring stern ramp in order to form a floating bridge. The ships can be computer linked to logistics files at military stock points, and can transport roll-on/roll-off and containerised cargo for unit deployment and relocation, tactical resupply and sustained resupply.

The ship does not require external cranes or port facilities and four feet of water allows the ship to land under full load. This capability expands the choice of landing locations and reduces the potential enemy impact on the logistics support operations. The ship also provides self-delivery to overseas locations. The ramps and the main deck are able to withstand roll-on/roll-off operations of the Abrams M-1 tank, the P&H 6250 crane complete with counterweight and boom, and rough terrain handlers.

B-14 Ulysses (http://globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/images/b-3-_Supersonic-1.jpg)
The B-14 was developed to give the Royal Air Force a new bomber to replace current foreign-made bombers in use. The Ulysses fills the gap of between the fighter-bombers and the B-12 Arnold. Supercruise ability combined with advance stealth makes the B-14 a lethal foe on the battlefield. However, the relatively light payload of the B-14 has prevented the RAF from procuring large numbers of these bombers. Currently a new heavy bomber is in the works. Until the new bomber is ready for battlefield use, the B-14 will continue to patrol the unfriendly skies.

Helicopters and Airships

Attack Helicopters:

AC-50 "Emperor Penguin" Attack Helicopter (http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/ka50-03.jpg)
Unlike most helicopters, the Emperor Penguin does not have a tail rotor. Absence of the tail rotor enables the helicopter to perform flat turns within the entire flight speed range. A maximum vertical g-load of 3.5 combined with low moments of inertia give the AC-50 a very high level of agility.

Extensive all-round armour installed in the cockpit protects the pilot against 12.7mm armour piercing bullets and 25mm projectile fragments. The rotor blades are rated to withstand several hits of ground-based automatic weapons. The AC-50 is one of the only operational helicopters with a rescue ejection system, which allows the pilot and gunner to escape at all altitudes and speeds.

ASC-400 Gun Airship
After experience with the AC-130 Gunship, the Royal Army and Air Force found that there was an absence of true firepower availible for long on-station missions. Jets and bombers can deliver their payloads, but leave the area within seconds. Helicopters are vulernable to ground fire and traditional gunships have to maneouver to fire their weapons. That's when the Royal Armory Directorate was struck by a wierd idea, why not use a Vagary Airship, put armor and armament on it, and use that?

Using the AS-102 airframe, the ASC-400 boasts extra armor, extra power, and command and control systems found on the ASC-300. While not able to stand up to long-duration heavy attacks, the ASC-400 has shown itself to have an increase of 400% in Survivablity Rate as compared to the AC-130. The ASC-400 can stay on-station for up to 78 hours at a time.

SABR is a modular weapon system, consisting of the Fire Control System (FCS); a "kinetic energy" component comprised of a short 9mm rifle barrel and trigger group; and the grenade launcher consisting of a magazine-fed, semiautomatic 20mm grenade launcher barrel and an action and recoil absorption mechanism. The FCS, along with the 20mm ammunition, is the key to the system's capability. The FCS incorporates a laser rangefinder, 6X day optic, 6X night/thermal imaging optic, TV mode with CCD camera that can double the effective image magnification day or night, and the microprocessing components. The microprocessing component computes the "full ballistic solution" to destroy a designated target and program the system's primary ammunition: 20mm high explosive fragmentation grenades. Based on the desired effects on target, the operator can program the FCS to detonate grenades in one of four modes: "Bursting" selects an above ground, 3-5m airburst. "Point Detonation" will detonate the grenade when it impacts resistance. "Point Detonation-Delay" briefly delays detonation after impact, enhancing effects on semi-hard targets like car doors or light structures. "Window" commands an airburst at an operator specified range beyond a specific aiming point, enhancing effectiveness against soft targets inside windows or open doors.

Advanced Infantry Battle Suite (AIBS)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/35223.jpg
NOTE: Rifle shown is the HR-35 Carbine.

The Advanced Infantry Battle Suite (AIBS) Land Warrior System integrates small arms with high-tech equipment enabling ground forces to deploy, fight and win on the battlefields of any NS War. The first priority in Land Warrior is lethality. The second is survivability and the third, command and control.

Based on recent advances in communications, sensors, and materials, AIBS integrates the latest technical innovations into a battle rugged package. For the first time, the soldier's equipment is being designed as if he is an individual, complete weapons platform. Each subsystem and component is designed to and for the soldier. The result: a full integrated soldier fighting system for the dismounted infantryman.

AIBS has several subsystems: the weapon, integrated helmet assembly, protective clothing and individual equipment, computer/radio, and software.

Weapon Subsystem- is built around the HR-42 SABR (other rifles can be accepted). The weapon subsystem includes key electrical optical components such as the TWS, video camera, and the laser rangefinder/digital compass (LRF/DC). The LRF/DC provides the soldier with range and direction information. When coupled with his individual location from GPS, the soldier has accurate target location when calling for indirect fire and combat identification. This system allows infantrymen to operate in all types of weather and at night. In conjunction with other components, a soldier can even shoot around corners without exposing himself to enemy fire. When used in coordination with the onboard computer systems of the SABR, it is possible for an entire platoon of soldiers to lay down near perfectly coordinated fire.

Integrated Helmet Assembly Subsystem (IHAS)- uses advanced materials to provide ballistic protection at less weight than the current helmet shell. The integrated helmet assembly is lighter and more comfortable than modern helmets. The IHAS's helmet mounted computer and sensor display is the soldier's interface to the other subsystems and to the digital battlefield. Through the helmet mounted display, the soldier can view computer-generated graphical data, digital maps, intelligence information, troop locations and imagery from his weapon-mounted Thermal Weapon Sight (TWS) and video camera. This new capability allows the soldier to view around a corner, acquire a target, then fire the weapon without exposing himself, beyond his arms and hands, to the enemy. By scanning an area with his weapon's thermal sight, the soldier will be able to see an area's characteristics, including terrain and enemy positions, and will be able to see through obscurants. The thermal images will appear on a miniature helmet-mounted display. The Night Sensor Display will integrate a helmet mounted display with an image intensifier for access to his computer sensors as cited above. This will allow the soldier to maneuver and engage targets under cover of darkness.

Protective Clothing and Individual Equipment Subsystem- consists of a revolutionary backpack frame design based on state-of-the-art technology which bends with the soldier's natural body movements. The cables are integrated into the frame as necessary for the soldier's computer/radio connections. The soldier can adjust his backpack frame to adjust the load distribution from his shoulders to his hips while on the move. A simple adjustment, yet it allows the soldier to manage and carry his combat load more effectively and with less fatigue. The new LW body armor, like the helmet, provides improved ballistic protection at a reduced weight. The AIBS body armor includes a modular upgrade plate to protect the soldier against the small arms threat. The protective clothing and individual equipment subsystem incorporates modular body armor and upgrade plates that can stop small-arms rounds fired point-blank.

Computer/Radio Subsystem (CRS)- attached to the infantryman to his load-bearing frame. Over this goes the rucksack for personal gear. The computer processor is fused with radios and a Global Positioning System locator. A hand grip wired to the pack and attached to the soldier's chest acts as a computer mouse and also allows the wearer to change screens, key on the radio, change frequencies and send digital information. The subsystem comes in two flavors: The leader version has two radios and a flat panel display/keyboard, and soldiers have one radio. With the equipment, leaders and soldiers can exchange information. Soldiers using their weapon-mounted camera, for example, can send videos to their leaders. In its GEN III version, the computer and radio will be combined and embedded in new web gear. The system will be built around a series of cards the size of credit cards, but slightly thicker.

The CRS is integrated into the backpack frame in two sections. The upper portion contains two radios the squad radio and the soldier radio). The squad radio is based on a repackaged commercial radio and will be fully compatible with SINCGARS SIP. The soldier radio is based on a repackaged handheld commercial radio made by Easton Industried. This gives the soldier the ability to communicate with others in his squad, greatly improving situation awareness and survivability through increased command and control.

The lower portion of the backpack contains the computer and the global positioning system (GPS) modules. Integration of the GPS and radio into the CRS eliminates separate displays, controls and cases, thereby saving weight and reducing power requirements. Menu driven displays are controlled by the soldier from his Remote Input Pointing Device. This device is located on the chest strap and is operated by the touch of a finger. Some functions are controlled with two buttons located near his trigger finger, allowing the soldier to maintain a firing position. Imbedded into the load carrying frame are the antennas for the GPS and soldier radio. The open architecture of the CRS allows direct insertion of future upgrades in both hardware and software.

Software subsystem- addresses the soldier's core battlefield functions, display management, and mission equipment and supply. The software subsystem includes tactical and mission support modules, maps and tactical overlays, and the ability to capture and display video images. The system also contains a power management module. AIBS will be interoperable on the digital battlefield. Designers set up the system so it can be updated as technology improves. The modular architecture allows for direct insertion/replacement with technology upgrades. The software subsystem allows the soldier to tailor the display, menus and functional operation of his system to his own mission needs and preferences.

The AIBS is designed to be used in stretches up to 15 days. With main power provided by rechargeable Thin Cell lithium batteries and Polymer Rechargeable Batteries coupled together as the Main Battery System (MBS). Thin Cell lithium batteries are wafer-thin, with a unique combination of high-energy density, long life, wide operating temperature range and light weight. The Thin Cell battery is an ideal choice for a compact power solution because it combines Ultralife's powerful lithium chemistry in a volume-efficient, lightweight laminated foil package. The Polymer Rechargeable Battery System combines high-energy chemistry with state-of-the-art polymer technology. Every battery component is solid; there are no liquids that need to be contained by bulky, heavy cell housings. The result is a powerful, safer, thin and lightweight rechargeable battery with a wide operating temperature range. And, like Lithium-ion prismatic rechargeable cells, Polymer cells do not exhibit a memory problem, meaning that they can be recharged at any state of charge without first having to be completely discharged.

Providing the recharging power as well as secondard power to the AIBS unit is a specially constructed Kinetic Energy Harnassing System (KEHS). Using the movements of the infantryman, the KEHS is able to provide supplimentary power during crucial battle situations as well as providing the means of recharging the batteries. However, the KEHS and MBS are only effective at keeping an AIBS unit supplied with enough energy for fifteen days activity. During that time it will become necessary to replace the old batteries with fresh, fully charged batteries. The battery system is entirely hot-swappable.

The MBS can also be recharged, by adapter, from most electric sources. An infantryman can plug himself into a home outlet, an industrial plug, or into the electric system of a tank. If you can get electricy from it, the MBS can at least partially, if not fully, recharge.

The Hamptonshire Defense Corporation, and the other units of WorldTech Industries, prides itself on offering maximum effectiveness at a minimum of price. If at any time your ships suffer any "factory-originated" defects or your ships have suffered damage to HDC-unique systems, we would be happy to provide any repair assistance possible.

Your five Gettysburg Class Battleships will be constructed at our recently renovated HDC-Truitt Dockyards. Construction will begin simultaneously on all five ordered vessels with a projected construction time of six years. Since you have ordered from the HDC before, we will from now on automatically receive your orders as an acceptance of any legal agreements on contracts that we may require.

Thank you for purchasing from the HDC. We await your next order.

Subject: Airships

It has recently became an issue within our Board, that the long-range capabilities of our Logistical system is sorely lacking. Therefore, we have searched for aircraft suitable for long/heavy hauls under warfare conditions; your Vagary class of Airships have came to our attention.
We recognize their large cargo capacity and long range, make them a marvel of engineering, but we have a question of their Combat Survivabilty.

What is one of these Airship's survivabilty against a SAM or Air-to-Air Missile?
As massive as these ships are, they must have quite a cross section.

How many Gas Bags may be damaged before the ship falls from the sky?

What is the maintenance and ground crew/equipment requirments for them?

The Asurnahbian Army is the most interested in these Airships, as a means of Logistics on a large scale, moving supplies to secured sites along the front line. The Medics Corps also has a queue about whether or these airships could be converted into a "Hospital Airship".

We thank you for your time.

Subject: Airship Information

Airships are very resilient aganist weaponry. Each Vagary Series Airship has three hundred "gas bags". Tests have shown that over forty percent of the airship needs to be destroyed before the survivability of the Airship is seriously in doubt. Airships, by their nature, are inheirently stealthy. Unlike the metal on an airplane, the skin on an Airship allows radar-waves to simply travel right through it. The Airship has a radar-cross section less than that of a C-140.

A Vagary Series Airship is built to be battlefield deployable. A ground crew of less than twenty is advisable for the proper maintance of the Airship. No special hangers are needed for the Vagary Series

With proper modifications and with extra stabilization equipment, it would be possible to modify a Vagary Airship. It would added approximately 10-15% to the price of the Airships.

If you wish for special modifications, please do not hesitate to contact my sub-division.

We appreciate the timeliness in your responce. All of our questions have been satisfied. We see no reason why we shouldn't acquire a "Air Armada" of sorts, for our interested Military Branches.

The Asurnahbian Army would like to purchase Six AS-102 Vagary200s, as well as Four AS-103 Vagary1000s.

Can they be outfitted with an aft loading ramp, for direct loading/unloading of equipment and supplies? We are willing to pay for whatever extra charges brought by this request.

Our Generals also inquire if the ASC-300 could be converted for Anti-Aircraft capabilities, as this seems to be the only Combat Airship capable of the same range as the AS-103.

The Asurnabian Navy would like four AS-101 Vagary20s.

The Medic Corps wants a single AS-103 Vagary1000, outfitted with the same ammenities expected of a sea-borne Hospital Ship. It is requested that it be painted white, with a single red stripe along its side, with a large, red cross, for identification. We ask only for an estimate of the cost.

The total will be: $420,000,000 Excluding the Medic Corps AS-103, as well as the ASC-300, as we await estimates for their cost.

P.S: One final request, our Naval Logistics is wanting to use their Airships for ship-to-shore cargo transportation. They ask if there is a ship capable of sustaining and refueling an Airship for extended voyages with Naval Fleets.

For the sake of clarity I shall respond to your order point by point.

Your Airships will be ready for delivery within fourteen months.

Loading ramps, as well as onboard loading and unloading systems are included in all Vagary Series Airships (where applicable).

Our Generals also inquire if the ASC-300 could be converted for Anti-Aircraft capabilities, as this seems to be the only Combat Airship capable of the same range as the AS-103.

First, I would like to point out the the ASC-500 acutally has a longer range than the AS-103. The ASC-300 Missile Platform can be loaded with nearly all know air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles. The only limitations are the weight limit of 925 tons and the dimensions of the Payload Bay (which is nearly identical to that of a AS-103).

The Asurnabian Navy would like four AS-101 Vagary20s.

Your Airships will be ready for delivery within fourteen months.

The Medic Corps wants a single AS-103 Vagary1000, outfitted with the same ammenities expected of a sea-borne Hospital Ship. It is requested that it be painted white, with a single red stripe along its side, with a large, red cross, for identification. We ask only for an estimate of the cost.

Due to our recent offerings of the Blue Cross and Metch Class medical ships, the HDC is primed and ready to take on your request. The cost of the Airship, including modifications, would come to $250 million. Once you green light production, the Airship will be ready within thirty months.

P.S: One final request, our Naval Logistics is wanting to use their Airships for ship-to-shore cargo transportation. They ask if there is a ship capable of sustaining and refueling an Airship for extended voyages with Naval Fleets.

As of yet, no. However, here at the HDC we are working with several systems that will deliver the capability you are looking for. Those systems, unfortunately, are several years off. What you can use for refueling and sustaining Airships on duty with an Naval Fleet is to use a Supercarrier to refuel and resupply the Airship's crew. The operation itself does pose some risk and it does call for the flight deck of said carrier to be cleared of nearly all planes, but it does work well. We at the HDC would suggest using the Pernicious II Class, as the Royal Navy of Hamptonshire has been successful in using that class to refuel Airships.

Thank you for your business and please come again.

San Angeles Class Attack Carrier (CVAN)
The San Angeles is a purpose built carrier- it is designed to carry out naval based bomber strikes deep into enemy territory. In order to carry the tactical bomber (the Großes Ungeheuer" Strategic Bomber is recommended), the San Angeles carries a very small fighter compliment, relatively light armament, and boasts armor protection of less then 4 inches of dedicated armor. During the openning phase of a war, the San Angeles can allow you to bring the pain right to the enemy's homeland. While definitely not a fleet carrier, the San Angeles is a dangerous and deadly foe that must be contended with on the modern battlefield.

Excellent, that would be most useful. We hear that a reduction on stopping power would be an unfortunate side effect of this however, and we are now wondering if the weapon could also be modified to fire a more powerful cartride, to help alleviate this problem. If this is not possible then we are fine with the semi-carbine variant, and would be pleased to recieve your shipment.
