Transranvia's self-imposed isolation

Premier Mikulas Envex of the Transranvian Communist Party today gave his monthly address to the nation in which he rejected international calls for reform in Transranvia. After World War II, the small Eastern European nation of four million became a Stalinist state and has remained staunchly isolationist ever since. Xenophobic communist rule has protected Transranvia from imperialism and globalization.
"The capitalist imperialists would like to bring our small nation under its control," Envex stated. "However, the people of Transranvia would rather die on their feet than live on their knees serving imperialistic masters."
The Premier stated that Transranvia would continue its economic policy of self-reliance. "People in the West say our nation is poor just because we rely on our own land, not foreign aid," Envex said. "We shall never be slaves to foreign powers."
His address to the nation took place at the annual Workers Military Parade in the nation's capital of Korcje.

The Emperor of Layarteb will be taking bets on how long before you have absolutely no money to support your government. The pool is $1M (NS) per guess and the margin of error is +/- 2 NS years.
Additionally, the Emperor of Layarteb would like to make note that under your Stalinistic Totalitarian country, you're people spend more time on their knees than they ever will on their feet, serving their leader as he reaps the benefits of his "regime."

Considering you're an imperialistic monarch, you have no right to lecture the people of Transranvia on how they govern themselves. All workers are equal in our nation. We reject your attempts to interfer in the affairs of our sovereign state. Your comments simply re-affirm why we must continue our isolationist foreign policies.

If only I was an imperialistic monarch that would apply but no I am not. The system of government in Layarteb is a realist-conservative dictatorship (and yes dictatorship has a bad connotation but some dictators were not bad at all). Basically our principle is that life is unfair, deal with it, and with that, we don't care what happens in the rest of the world unless it directly affects us. We do reserve the right, however, to poke fun at other nations for sh*** & giggles.

Even our poorest workers make more than $270.96 per year (your GDP per capita), and we're a Corporate Bordello. ;)
Let's compare:

http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=Evil+Woody+Thoughts
And we by no means oppress our poorest citizens--take a look at our Welfare and Education budgets. We have nationalized health care (look at our health budget), and we spend more money on Social Equality than we do on defense. Don't get any ideas now, as we still outspend you on defense by a ratio of 1,237.67 to 1. ;)
A strong economy might help if you want to become "economically self-sufficient." Otherwise, your citizens will starve to death and go without basic shelter and health care.
Do you see the wonders of a prosperous economy yet? Our citizens even enjoy more freedoms than yours. We will be accepting political and economic refugees from your nation. :)

The Grand Duchy of Apollina has just come out of over 150 years of self-imposed isolation, our nation can testify that it is a harsh and difficult path to tread; we urge the Transranvian Government to reconsider her position for the sake of thier own people. Our economy has suffered horribly, and compared to other nations that share similar resources and opportunities as Apollina our people are very very poor. Grand Duke Kos took the brave desicion to open up our borders about a year and a half ago and already there are benefits to our people, economic and diplomatic benefits.

Senator Reikos, Foreign Minister of Apollina,
We welcome your government's diplomatic overtures to our nation and appreciate your non-hostile stance. We hope these contacts will mark an establishment of a friendly relationship between our two nations.
However, our nation is committed to the belief in self-reliance, due to our historical experiences. Our small nation has been the target of aggression from larger powers in the past. The world is still full of imperialistic predators seeking to expand their influence at the expense of our sovereignty. Therefore, in order to protect ourselves, there can be no change in policy.
Once again, we appreciate your friendly contact.

We would like to remind Transranvia that labelling many of the foremost powers in this universe, imperialistic masters is perhaps not the best of way of achieving friends in this predatorial world.
If you follow isolationism, you will become backward and will be even easier prey for even a mediocre opponent. We give you this warning, we have in our time seen other nations follow such a path and very few remain independent.

The Guild of External Affairs,

All Apollina can do is to offer the Government of Transranvia a site for an Embassy. Apollina would also like to send a permenant envoy to Transranvia, we hope that from here we can give advice from our own experience to help soften any hardship coming from the desicion to isolate your nation. We feel it would help you gain sympathy if the confrontational tone of your press releases was reduced.

We will not change our policies regarding asylum, as they are the same for every nation. That said, is this a declaration of war?
