"Hurry! Come on!" screamed the pilot over the screaming engines of the LearJet as it sat on the runway. Sidewinder City Civil Airport. Three in the morning.
Seven citzens of the Aztec lands ran to the aircraft on the tarmac.
Just a week ago, a terrible terrorist bombing on the Central Commerical Center (mall) in the capital had killed 151 people and injured over 250, 70 severely. The seven had given the terrorists what they needed. Two gave them the bombs. Two gave them information. One gave them guns. Two showed them how to get in undetected. All of them already had a record.
The pilot closed the doors as the seven made it on. He would attempt to make a low-level dash, under radar, across the Lands to the neigboring country. They had made a very lucrative deal and the pilot, ex-military, was ready to do whatever it took to earn Sc. 950,000.
The pilot and copilot checked systems and gunned the engines. They lifted off, pulled up the gear, and then shut off radar to reduce detectability even further.
They hoped to go to the northwest, where the expansive Territory of Zapoteca, with its rolling plains, would be a good place to fly flat and level.
They ascended to just 25 meters above the ground and turned towards the border.
Unfortunately for them, the country was under lockdown, and this was a clear violation. They weren't detected until they were just 25 Km from the border. The "No-Fly Zone" was 33 Km from the border. A trio of C-5 Quetzal IIs on patrol found them. Two formed up on the sides, one in the rear.
"NA30027, THIS IS THE AZTEC LANDS IMPERIAL AIR FORCE. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TURN BACK IMMEDIATELY AND LAND AT GOLDEN COAST CIVIL AIRPORT. YOU ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE LOCKDOWN. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN OFFENSIVE ACTION BY OUR AIRCRAFT."
Silence.
"NA30027, DO YOU COPY?"
Flight Lieutenant Home-Eagle engaged his weapon systems. He took the safety off and was ready to fire an AIM-9M Sidewinder at any moment.
"NA30027 YOU HAVE FIFTEEN SECONDS TO COMPLY OR ELSE YOU WILL BE SHOT DOWN, I REPEAT, SHOT DOWN."
"NA30027 to ALIAF, wilco, wilco. Request fighters move out, will reset course to 265 for landing."
They landed and were greeted by Air Force Infantry personnel on the tarmac.
