ZNN news release, Oct. 12 2004

JAG Headquarters (ZNN, Norfolk Island) -- Trousinain Navy's JAG (Judge Advocate General) Corps to launch formal inquiry into a mystery involving a Trousinain Battle Group on training exercises and an unidentified Diesel Submarine.

The Secretary of the Navy announced the official investigation Tuesday.

On monday, TD (Trousinain Dominion) battle group Dover, while on training exercises in deep water approximately 240 km west south west of Norfolk Island Naval Base, made sonar and radar contact with an unidentified submersible. Naval intel reported that no TD ships were supposed to be in those waters.

After several attemps to contact the vessel, TDS Hellfire, an AEGIS Destroyer, sent one of it's Seahawk helios to investigate the vessel with its active sonar. Apparently, the SH-60s sonar had detected sounds similar to the opening of outerdoors on an attack submarine.

The class of the submarine could not be determined, but was believed to be an Akula II class nuclear submarine.

With that information, Dover Battle Group Commander gave orders for attack on the still unidentified submarine. According to a Naval report on the situation, and a statement from the skipper of the TDS Will Power, an aircraft carrier, 2 SH-60 helicopters departed from the TDS Hellfire, and dropped two Mk 50 torpedo each on the submarine.

Sonar aboard the Will Power picked up explosions, at less than one second intervals from eachother. It then detected the break-up of the hull of the sub.

The Navy has sent out a search team to the site of the incident. With the depths of the water exceeding 2 miles in the area, searchers are now using small submersibles equipt with underwater viewing cameras to evaluate the situation.

An attempt at a retrieval mission has yet to be announced, but is expected pending the outcome of the initial search.

This is a very curious incident indeed. Should any assistance be needed in finding out just what happened, we would be glad to offer it.

One thing puzzles me. In one sentence early in that post you clearly call the sub a diesel boat, yet only few paragraphs later you call it a Akula 2 class nuc boat. Mind explaining that inconsistency?

Further developments in Submarine incident
SECNAV

"Using T430 submersibles, the previously unidentified vessel has been identified as an Akula II as previously suggested by Sonar computers aboard an SH-60 seahawk helicopter.

Durring a retrieval mission, part of the submarine broke up more from is original 3 main pieces, yet the majority of it was lifted up intact. So far, 23 bodies and several arms, legs, and other assorted body parts have been discovered inside the vessel. The section containing the missile room revealed 3 loaded firing tubes, two with the outer doors open. This means that the submarine was likely ready to fire.

A unique mark was found tatooed onto the right arms of every sailor and body part discovered so far. The symbol, similar to the Extremist Greenpeace group of TROUSRS, the 'Righteous Warriors', is now being checked with records of RW activites. The navy is also looking into how the group could have, if it does indeed turn out to be the RW, aquired a nuclear submarine.

And for those of you that are unaware of the 'Righteous Warriors', they are a very active, very violent nature loving organization. Last month, they crashed 4 wooden boats into a Navy warship as it was test firing a new tactical missile on a nearby deserted island. The members of the group were retained to a Navy brig aboard the TDS Watchdog. They are currently awaiting a civilian trial and possible military court martial."

From the Office of Trousinain Dominion Navy Forgien Relations Minister

The unidentified vessel was originally believed to be a diesel submarine, based on a very distant sonar reading. When the Seahawk dropped is active sonar less than a mile away from the vessel, it was suggested otherwise.
