Refugee Problem (attention Hudecia, LRR, Dra-pol, Asian playerzz)

East Islandia

Northern Islandia
0500 hours

The refugee camp stood in stark contrast to the lush plain around it, silver buildings catching and reflecting the sunlight at various odd angles. Some guard towers stood, but mostly, only one or two soldiers were ever on duty there.

Inside the refugee camp, Corporal Kim Su-il drove his HMMVW through the crowded throughways. Although nearly as large as a city, the camp was filled to capacity; there were nearly a hundred, a hundred twenty thousand people in an area suitable for eighty, ninety thousand at most.

Kim sighed, and took the chocolate liqeur his partner, Shun Niu, offered him. The two were MPs in a Second Flag reserve unit based in North Islandia, and had been selected for work in the camp due to their Korean language and culture skills; Shun had graduated a year ago with a graduate's degree in Korean, and Kim was a scholar in East Asian languages.

Kim frowned as he spotted a shape in the road. They had been responding to a domestic accident, and he could hear the fighting in the house, and the lights were on.

He screeched to a stop. Kim and Shun ran out, and headed towards the shape, which they now saw to be a little girl lying prone on the road.

Just as they reached her, however, several men descended out of the darkness, and grabbed them. Hands took away their pistols, and many feet kicked the two into submission.

The MPs went down without a sound, and lay prone. Their unconscious forms were dragged inside.

*******

All over Islandia, this began to happen. MPs and soldiers guarding the camps and serving in a police role began to be kidnapped. No one knew who was responsible, but there was one unified demand from the refugees:

Free us and let us into Islandia.

If not, entire garrisons would be executed.

Xiaguo is willing to take care of East islandia's problem by welcoming these refugees into Xiannese based camps, which are about 30-400 miles ways from the Dra-Polian border.

Similiar incidents had occured in Xiaguo before, but not as frequesnt as the ones in East islandia, since the refugees were allowed to go out of the camps as a special right granted to registered refugees. Ansd besides, Xiaguo's laws have much harsher consequences and this has kept all the camps serene.

News of the crisis in East Islandia was slow to trickle out to the general public but in the halls of Parliament it was of great concern.

Unlike the Islandian policy of refugee camps, Hudecian officials under the Conservative government had been anxious to accept the hundreds of thousands of Korean skilled immigrants and even the cheap labourers into society.

The government had spend millions putting up entire city blocks to accomodate the influx of Koreans. Still, many had returned to Korea now, leaving behind empty houses and half-completed neighbourhoods. In one such new city, aptly named New Soeul, the population had decreased from over 300 000 to less than 175 000 in the last year.

Their presence had helped fill many jobs in the Hudecian economy and their loss was seen as a grave blow. Shortages in nursing, engineering, and even labourers were forseen.

So, Hudecian diplomats and Korean immigrants to Hudecia began to attempt to convince Korean refugees in Islandia to accept the Hudecian offer of free housing, education, health care and jobs.

Yes, yes, that is very well similiar to Xiaguo's plan. However, they were also given a choice to become a citizen with full rights within Xiaguo. ANd many have applied for it, and became citizens. We currently have about 530,000 refugees apply for citizen statues, while about 200,000 have been either deported or have chosen another place to dwell.
Dra-pol

Officially, Da'Khiem has called the troubles indicative of how little the foreigners actually care about the Korean people. Saying that their interests are only in prolonging division and conflict on the peninsula, the CRPD states that the enemies want a weak Korea because they are stuck in irrelevant cold war-like mentalities and fail to realise that today the people of the peninsula are not pawns but equal players.

In Dra-pol itself, school programmes are updated to teach children about the mass abduction of South Korean babies and the atrocities now being carried out on baby farms in East Islandia and the other enemies.

Emperor Jin Tai Ji has addressed this issue to the parliament as a fast growing oppurtunity. However, if this keeps up, the influx of these refugees can cause a major downturn of the Xiannese workforce in the upper provinces.

The Korean peoples were given a right to go back to South Korea and even granted an access to Dra-Pol if necessary. The immigration process of Xiaguo is fairly fast and easy.

Yeh Zhao feng has addressed this issue to the Asia Alliance. Asking all nations to continue talks with Dra-Pol.

In LRR, where refugees are not confined to camps but rather perfectly able to join society, such problems are not present.

Refugee camps are temporary housing, not really prisons, although there are guard towers (many of them are former military bases re-opened to accomodate refugees). They are garrisoned by MPs, and are points for temporary stays until the refugees can find a home.

However, due to the vast amount of refugees, discontent has grown, particularly when outbreaks of disease were discovered. Although the mini-epidemics are under control, the Korean expatriates have become angry.

Some have even contacted Dra-pol on the possibility of sabotaging said camps and wreaking havoc onto east islandian society.

As the hostage crisises carry on, the Islandian government has allowed several refugees to embark back home for Korea on chartered passenger ships. Some of Chinese ethnicity who have opted to leave for Sino were allowed to do so, but for th emost part, belligerent camps are kept under quarantine. Smaller camps, however, were released and quickly given many acres of land in Northern Islandia.

As of now, only five camps are packed beyond capacity, all of them in Northern Islandia, and all of them holding military personnel hostage.

Second Flag units have surrounded the compounds with armored vehicles, tanks, artillery, and hundreds of troops, but no one dares attempt a raid into the heavily guarded camp. After all, the camps are many square kilometers in area, and it would take nearly a battalion to re-take a camp.

As such, Premier Kim Eun-jin is flying down from the capital to begin negotiations with the kidnappers. She is the only hope of the hostages held in the camps, although no deadlines were given, only demands.

Refugee housing were hastily constructed across the Chinese seaboard to await those of Chinese ehtnicity to be delievered from East Islandia.

At least the refugees will be treated as humans. In Dra-pol, he who comes under the Central Directorature are nothing but cattle awaiting slaughter.

The refugees are relatively free and happy. However, if one decides to step up and fight, he/she will be imediatly stopped and will go through our little re-education projects and deport her off to Sino, EI, or something.

7 Refugees have been arrested at Yalong Lake Refugee camp. The 7 suspects were arrested early Wednesday Morning with a millitary warrant. The 7, 3 women and 4 men were part of the "Korean Movement" which may have close ties with the kidnappers. The government has stated that terrorists will find no dwelling within Xiaguo's borders.

OOC:The 7 Koreans are likely to have ties with both the Dra-Pol government and the Koreans inside EI's camp which had carried out the kidnapping. They are being asked over and over with hundreds of questions.

The news of these incedents has not fallen on deaf ears within the Cloister Office of Governor-Bishop Gerald Westgaard IV.
"What can we do? If we offer to help militarilly, we will be fanatical Christian butchers, remember Dra-pol throughing around the Crusader Coalition and how his propaganda machine used that one against us? However, if we stand by and do nothing, we are cold and unfeeling, not living up to the standards of Christs love, and thus hyppocrates. But lastly, if we just offer humanitarian aid, we will be accused of trying to buy our way out of the problem, another example of western imperialism. And it would be worse if we were to send in teams of our proffessional aid workers and relief staff, we would be accused of using this tragedy as an opprotunity to gain converts. You tell me what we should do?"
"I'm not sure sir," replies General Lee Gemby, Commander of the Quinntonian Dra-pol Armed Forces, "But I do not that evil is what happens when good men stand by and do nothing. And I know that I am not willing to have pictures in the news of my men attacking 'helpless' refugees."
"Dispatch and official letter to East Islandia indicating our willingness to help in any non-military manner that we may be asked. Only ask and ye shall recieve," barks the gruff old Bishop.
"I think we should pray for discernement and guidance in this matter, my old friend," says Gerald Westgaard.
General Gemby removes his hat and bows his head and begins, "Our Father who art in Heaven......"

All the while the unseen camera in the room pipes the grainy image to a dark room that doesn't exist in a building that never was, where it is watched by a giant, monster of a man that you will never know about, a man with a crucifix tattoo on his right cheek and the blood of despots on his hands.

Complete different religions aye? Xiaguo is officially A Taoist-Buddhist Country. However, we do not buy holy water and sprinkle them on our tanks and guns as SIno's has said.

5 of the suspects have been turned over to East islandia. 2 of them, were held under a federal prison as these suspects might be the leaders of this coup.

"Our East Islandian Allies, we have confirmed a planned attack within Xiannese and East Islandian Soil. The suspects have turned in documents and maps and we have confirmed their existance that will endanger our countries and the populous.

The map has strategic locations of several Millitary bases near the Xiannese-Dra-Polian border. A few papers have suggested a planned uprising in 3 of East islandia's largest camps, and full copied of these documents will be sent shortly."

What East Islandia did not know, was that one of the 2 suspect held captive was of East Islandian Nationality.
