Should Drum Gods turn over a new leaf?

Should we become a democratic, diplomatic and peaceful nation with no feelings for to the need to command and conquer? The idea is there but we may need a hell of a lot of convincing.......

Official Statement from The Proletariat Commonwealth of The Island of Rose:
Maybe if you didn't plan to take your former colonies you'd look better. Plus, it'd be a waste money to go against OMG billions of soldiers. I mean, those former colonies are countries now. Hell, you can be as much of an ass as you want. Just use those dollars wisely. For now, put your money in your nation, and if you want new colonies, start exploring for new continents... like we did.

As an ally of Drum Gods, we would support their choice, but we hope they will not switch to the ways of democracy. The nation of Drum Gods has served well as it has been for many years being under the same administration authority.
OOC: Now why would you wanna do that?! Lol.

We always prefer democratic, diplomatic and peaceful nations when compared to imperialist, aggressive over militarized nations.
When considering moving down the path of democracy and diplomacy you must always remember that you are in no way choosing to be 'passive' or 'weak'. The Free Republic, for instance, has a very powerful military and is seen as quite resolute, even though we usually opt for diplomatic solutions.
Democratic institutions should always reflect the will of the people, and should always be tested on how well they serve the people.Democracy does not need to be 'chaotic' or 'indecisive' so long as institutions are built that always act in accordance with the will of the people.
The Free Republic holds elections every single year, putting our politicians very close to the people. This gives us the unique position of being able to gauge public response quickly. Politicians can find themselves either quickly deposed, or in long service to the people. The people quickly sort through 'weak', 'indecisive' and 'unsure' leaders, leaving our Republican Council with quick thinking, decisive men and women of merit , that not only are in harmony with the will of the people, but that can react to changing international crises as fast or faster than most imperial powers. In the words of the Honoured Statesman 'A single dictator can be as weak and as indecisive as any crowd.'.
Democracy and diplomacy both have their areas of merit and are useful in service of the people and their needs. Why depend on the prowess of a single ruler, when you can gather a council of comitted, intelligent, individuals bound by the single goal of serving the will of the people? THAT is true power, The Power of the People.
