Ooc- Why do you have to send so many soldiers? 360,000 to a conflict like this? Wouldn't it be better if we sent realistic numbers? My 48,000 is a very realistic number for what can be gathered together and sent on short notice. Now you force me to boost my numbers and then this becomes a number war instead of a focus on the real important things such as quality and small unit actions. bah

Secret IC- 200,000 more VG are in Western Sahara and Mississippian Egypt boarding C-130s and C-17s. And 50,000 VG are in Serbia readying in helicopters and C-130s for the trip to Leth.

The Comdidian Government, or in others words the Supreme Overlord of Armed Forces, after hearing of this situation quickly pulled what little forces they had together and prepared to send them to help fight the Nazi's.

Exactly 6,500 Special Operations personall were deployed in several directions heading on a course for Lethislavania to help establish a safe zone for the actual Comdidian Armed Forces attack. The estimated arrival time to Lethislavania is one hour with escort.

IC: City of Icarus, Presidential Building

It felt like any other day in the presidential building, and early start, a bright sunrise shone over the city of the sun god. A beautiful site, the building was situated on the highest point of the city overlooking a deep blue ocean.

Things unusually began to stir in the building, and the sound of echoing footsteps began to come closer and closer.
A young Aide burst into the presidential office to break the news.

"Sir, the Lethislavania capital, under nazi control .. huge uprising" the aide exclaimed gasping for breath.

"Patch me the transmition !" replied the president

"Yes sir"

After watching the transmition, a shock came over the president ..

"This will not stand" muttered the president. "Ready all forces, high alert, have men prepared for long haul dispatch, we cannot let nazi's take over Lethislavania".

"Roger that sir" replied a slightly shocked aide "Isn't that a bit extreme sir .."

"Its not your goddamn job to make decisions" shouted the president. "Now get on it"

"Yes sir."

At the last count, we have one battleship squadron within 30 hours steaming of you. Also we can insert two Airborne divisions into Lethislavania if needs be within 17 hours. These groups have received their orders as is appropriate. We will however require some information as to possible landing zones.

Secret: The divisions will receive the full loadout of WMDs for their delivery systems, since it's plain that plenty of Rightists will intervene.

We will also be able to ship over an amphibious force - though the strength is unspecified as yet - within three days.

120th Bomber Division is readying for attacks on Lethislavanian Nazis. ETA of attack 5 hours.

OOC: The 120th is ten regiments of Tu-160B bombers. They're carrying 4 AS-15 cruise missiles each, loaded with HE. The AS-15 conventionally carries a nuclear warhead, but this mission doesn't demand it. That's 240 aircraft attacking btw, which is as you can imagine a very large force to have to get moving that quickly. The reason is that they're the only large bomber force kept on the same alert level as the ICBM forces.

The commitment of Nazi forces has forced upon us the unhappy conclusion that we will have to send in another 2 airborne divisions and send at least one more fleet into the area. Prepareations for an amphibious assault have been stepped up also.

At this point 5th and 7th airborne divisions are 2 hours from their objectives and the 120th is 3 hours away from the launch point for its' cruise missiles.

"Shitting hell, I hope they've still got a beacon running or something. Or at least some radio contact," groused the pilot of the An-22 as it bucketed over Lethislavania, the stormy weather and the darkness forcing upon the crew a total reliance on their instruments. "God knows why we're here anyway."
"Because we were told to be here," replied his co-pilot amicably. She looked at the GPS display on the instrument panel, checking it against the INS readout. "Three minutes to the drop zone, if this thing's reading right."
"It'd better be reading right, else this lot'll be landing in the middle of a bloody forest."
The An-22 droned over the rolling terrain of Lethislavania's south-western countryside, accompanied by 15 more of its' comrades. Within the massive aircraft were 2S9 SPMs, BM-21G MRLS units, GAZ-66 lorries, BMD-3 IFVs, BRDM-2s carrying AT-6 ATGMs, and the other many accountrements of an airborne division, along with, in total, 7,500 men.
"One minute to drop zone. Set ready light." The copilot switched on the red lights in the aircraft, and the paratroops braced for their jumps.
The minute stretched into infinity, but then the order came:
"COMMENCE JUMP!"
The paratroops began to leap from their aircraft as the thunderous roar of the aircraft above caught their ears, drowning out even the noise of the slipstream.

To the north, darkened ships were approaching. They were still a day's steaming away yet, but that would not matter when they arrived. The ships were the 17th Battleship Squadron. The men of the airborne divisions had been dropped, fortunately, on the relatively flat part of the terrain. Few of them had been injured on the drop, and all but a few pieces of equipment were fully operational. The men began to group up, finding their vehicles first and then driving together, until eventually each division had more or less coalesced into its' formation. The two units began sorting out the vagaries of their respective radio nets, integration of commands, and logistical worries, while the general conferred over maps, thinking out a way to get into the capital and smash the Nazis.

They are being screened by a squadron of Udaloy-class destroyers (6 ships) and will arrive in Sethesh within 40 hours, all being well.

A transmission went out quickly to all Comdidian Aircraft that were preparing to drop the special operations units off that simply read, Abort and Land on IF2. The planes and several landing craft turned about heading back to the just arriving Interceptor Fleet Two that was sitting out in International Waters to pick them up and to await orders from the government.

OOC: Wait a day for the invasion. I have to get my forces in theater.

I'm preparing an additional 4 paratrooper divisions along with 2 more MEDs on ship.

We are sending 2 Infantry divisions and 3 more armored divisions on ship for the invasion.

They are to be escorted by the 8th fleet until they reach the main staging area. Satelite coverage and RADAR coverage from AWACs and Aegis systems have been set up. S-3s, P-3s, and LAMPS IIIs along with subs are on ASW surveillance with sonobuoys and other SONAR systems to protect the fleet.

With them I've sent 12 Ohio SSGN boats and 4 of my new SUBSAM Lafayette conversions.

Special Ops team 1

The 1st part of any IDF invasion was the special forces. Their job was to scout ahead and give recon and other assistance. Aboard a pair of MH-80 Nightraven choppers were 32 IDF Defenders of the Mount. They were superior special forces whos job was to disapper.

The Choppers took off of one othe Wasp LHDs. They took a route to the West of the nation and flew low by areas that were unpopulated and clear according to surveillance. After flying 20 miles in from the coast, the choppers stopped. They hovered 8 feet off the ground for the men to get off and take cover.

The choppers were a equipped with near silent rotors that were a standard in special forces and were made for stealth with much of the technology of the RAH-66 Comanche.

Upon the landing of the special forces team, they worked to fortify a position in the valleys that would be hard to find in the air. They had camou nets over their small area where they dug holes and worked to place their SAWs and grenade launchers. The real work would not start until later the next night. Their only job now was to stay alive and get a good base camp together to sleep.

The odds of the overall invasion were good. It would be multiple trained armies against some volunteer army of ignorant fascist. Nothing a trained army that was considered the world's best in terms of training couldn't handle. Especially with numbers and technology on their side too.

Operation: VALIANT DAGGER

Four Tyrandisan Shadowhawk insertion helicopters took off from the deck of the TSN Liberty's Hammer, a lone Tarawa-class LHA in international waters.

The VTR-60 was designed in the fashion of the venerable Blackhawk helicopters, although the Shadowhawk's near-4th generation stealth capabilites, thanks to it's vastly superior design and materials in construction, made it worlds apart from the older UH-60. Improvements in the engines and armor plating also made the Shadowhawk faster and more survivable, especially against RPGs.

This operation was authorized by the Tyrandisan govt., although they did not make a public announcement to the world. After all, the element of surprise would have been lost if they had done so.

As an enemy to the rise of Nazi governments everywhere, TSOCOM gave a full two squads of Pathfinder personnel for this mission...

Each of the VTR-60s carried six Pathfinders, the creme de la creme of the elite Special Operations Forces. Armed with Tavor OICWs and USN Mk. 12 Mod. 0 sniper rifles, the team was ordered to gather information and disrupt enemy movements...

In the dark night, the Shadowhawks were invisible to the naked eye. Thermal readings were also faint, due to the exhaust dampeners installed on the engines.

Two of them made their way to DZ ALPHA, some two hundred klicks to the southwest of the capital. The twelve Pathfinders inside rappeled down into the dense foilage, their mission to conduct asymmetrical warfare against the Nazi insurgents and collaborators.

The second team was dispatched closer to the shores, their goal to conduct reconnaisance against coastal positions. After this was done, they would either destroy or relay coordinates to carrier based TSB-8X Sea Talon bombers from a Tyrandisan fleet that was currently in transit...

The Super-Dreagnought NIS Julii sat at the front of a moderate size fleet off the shore of the Nazi flooded nation. A young Lt. handed a folder to a broad shouldered man that hadn't appeared to had shaved for a couple days. "Admiral," the man opened it up calmy and read for a second and closed it. "Order the main battery's to locate it's targets, do NOT engage until my order." He walked out of the bridge with his armed escort as some of the younger men began running around hitting buttons. All 5 gun battery's, each with 4 massive 32" Electro-Thermal Naval Guns turned to the left very slowly. The Nazi's better be ready to dig themself out of this hole.

Once more it has become necessary to mobilize the nation, and to go from a state of peace to a state of war. Volunteers flocked to enlist in the military, as doing so is considered honourable during such trying times. The leaner, meaner war machine would get its first test in combat.

In air fields across the eastern Three Islands of Zoogiedom, crews methodically prepared the latest CALCM model, CALCM-02, unoficially nicknamed Armaggedon, to be loaded into the internal weapons bays of SC-240 'Pallas' cruise missile platforms. The large bomber-sized supersonic cargo derivatives could carry a great deal more than a conventional B-52, and such aircraft were on station, ready, waiting.

The navy, too, geared up for the pending conflict. Fleets that had been activated, dispatched, and waiting at maritime harbours around the Three Islands and at Taqyres converged and set for Lethislavania, where the military's order, might, and efficiency would be combat-tested.

Accompanied where many shipments of marines and their equipment; and through our foreign military bases some ninety thousand armed forces were rotated to combat ready status, ready to be airdropped or shipped into Lethislavania.

The admiral in charge stood on the bridge as the last bit of their fleet finally linked up and the stand down order was given for all but intercept aircraft.
He had just finished reading the offical orders from the Joint Commanders after recieving the message. The offical press release was 'Comdidian Forces were not needed' When in fact they were just being redeployed because the last thing, the admiral knew, was more enemies that were actually powerful.

"All Ships except the watch party is to depart to link up with our fleet heading somewhere else. To the staying ships move at least fifty miles from any water and airspace we do not want to start a war just monitor the situation." With that radio message the Interceptor fleet and the linked up fast fleet departed elsewhere hoping that this would end without to much loss of life to any of the anti-nazi forces.

By chance of fate, the first move by a Vastivan in this conflict was also the first time an ACRATHERM missile was fired in combat.

0914 hours: VSS Rutledge SS-235 received a transmission. Decrypted, this showed a Nazi ammunition dump from the perspective of a spy satellite - several carriers and trucks were seen entering the area, preparatory to loading their lethal cargo.

Confirmation took two minutes, and was performed twice.

0928 hours: Captain George Weiss gave the order to fire. A single hatch opened, vomiting forth its lethal cargo into the unforgiving sea. The Rutledge immediately went into a crash dive, and was to hide at the bottom of the sea for two hours.

0931 hours: cruise missile AQ-6336A achieved mach 2 and landfall. At treetop level, it was little more then a blur to most civilians. Inside, its computer made three decisions. The first pushed its speed to a "respectable" mach 4; the second extended microstabilizers, giving the missile more maneuverability; the third armed the warhead itself.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. A short while ago, the capital of a comrade nation, Lethislavania, was overran by the National Socialist dogs. Without an appeal for international aid from the legitimate Lethislavanian government, Comrade Dorsal has decided to launch an airborne liberation invasion of the Lethislavania. Operation: Liberated Lethislavania, or OLL. You will call this Operation OLL, when speaking to anybody except Corp Commanders. Now, at 1200 hours HST, we will be paradropping into Lethislavania."

At this time, we ask that if you are considering a land strike, hold off. Zoogiedom has a land strike ready and prepared, to be launched at the order, targeted at destroying their communication and crippling their response power in general. Do not, under any circumstance, target a civilian center. While collateral damage is unavoidable in war, those who do not take care to try to avoid it will answer to me.

There are issues of key importance that need to be relayed immediately. Foremost is the matter of chemical and nuclear weapons. The coalition needs to formulate a widespread response; firstly, through orbital anti-nuclear platforms, and also through ABL aircraft and any other means that you can conceive of. With regards to the INVASION. Be advised and aware that ANY occupation is by nature hazardous. We hope it will not come to a land war or occupation, and therefore we ask that all nations immediately and to the best of their ability blockade Lethislavania. Constrict the coalition's grip on them and force a surrender. We expect to face resistance, so be prepared to decimate both their navy and their air force.

There was much cursing at the Ministry of Defence as this message was sent, for they knew that there was little chance of it being acted upon with sufficient speed for it to be effective.

Meanwhile, still some 300Km north-west of the main island of Lethislavania, the Blackjacks opened their bomb-doors and made final checks on their weapons. The bombers' swift launch had meant that each carried only two missiles, nestled within the rotay launchers in their bomb-bays. It would be enough. The aircraft were proceeding at 300 knots, in regimental formations, great arrowhead shapes moving low above the water. In synchrony, each wave dropped its' two missiles, then turned slowly away to begin the long flight home. By the time they had all finished, and three missiles had failed to activate and dropped into the sea, there were 477 cruise missiles flying at 480 knots into Lethislavania.

He cursed again. The capitol city! It seemed obvious to him that DPUO was not acting with Lethislavania's future interests in mind. He would make sure that his opinion would be made known to the President and those in charge of the Zoogiedom contingent of forces.

MESSAGE TO ZOOGIE:

This is Admiral Joseph Jacobson. You mentioned we are to blockade the Nazis. I'm moving my ships and subs around for the blockade. Commander Rickover, the CO of my sub the ISS HALIBUT, asked me if we are to shoot anything coming in to the blockade zone.

Any answer so we can get clear orders and rules of engagement would be helpful. We just want to know if the ocean will be a free-fire zone for anyone entering Lethislavanian waters or if we are to just search them and not attack.

I don't know if it's at all in my power to decide the rules of engagement here. That's pretty much a gray area, I would presume. Coalition forces should be allowed free passage, and everything else should be blocked. Fire if anything shows heavy intent to fire on you, and in that case, please do fire before you are destroyed. Merchant vessels are to be untouched.

Admiral Gates

After he sent the encrypted reply to IDF, Gates called his advisors for a course of action to take. After a brief conference it was decided that given the fleet's proximity, the blockade's initial stages would begin. Aircraft began to take off from the fleets' carriers, to began an aggressive CAP campaign, some flying through Lethislavania's airspace, which was formerly shared with Zoogiedom.

The objective for those flying into enemy airspace was, firstly, to stay concealed, and second, to engage anyone that finds them. The ships, meanwhile, began to set up a strategic position and delivered to the Nazis their last and final ultimatum.

DENP

A single DENP agent had been infiltrated into Lethislavania several weeks ago, and now was clad as a Nazi enlisted soldier. The man was anything but of enlisted skill, however: he underwent a training school where failing would guarentee admissions into the most elite Marines Tagyr spec-ops divisions.

He had several targets assigned, and he would make sure he got at least one of them.

DPUO, don't mind my Defense Minister. He's a rather ... 'energetic' man, shall we say?

"What are you saying?" asked President Hanelis curiously, in a meeting with top military brass and the Defense Minister himself. "They are our allies."

"I'm saying they don't effin care. DPUO just blasted Lethislavania's capitol. Not only is that as unethical as you go, it screws over Lethislavania, SHOULD we strike a quick success in the rest of the war." Dredon paused. "My point is, the forces in this war need to be focused on the interests of Lethislavania. Most of these forces are either pro-socilaist or anti-Nazi. We're about the only ones who have stake in the future of Lethislavania."

"Okay, point taken," said Hanelis. "I'll have to make it known to DPUO that we need Lethislavania stable, we need the civilian casualties at a minimum, and we need to ensure Lethislavania's future success."

OOC: I'd suggest it wouldn't be destroyed. Three reasons.

1) Not all of the missiles are aimed at the capital; at least 60 are flying towards Nazi concentrations (camps, strongpoints etc) outside it. Obviously, the effect (or lack of same) of this is up to you.

2) Even if all of the missiles were going for the capital, there's a pretty much guaranteed chance that some would malfunction.

3) Even if they all got there, there's no guarantee at all that it would be destroyed.

Aboard the ISS Ozzie Guillen, there was celebration when the Nazi bases along the coast were detectd. It was time to fire the 18 30" guns on the behemoth.

"Sound General Quarters!" called Admiral Jacobson.

"aye, aye Battlestations!" called the XO.

A bosuns pipe was sounded over the 1MC as the Chief Bosuns mate yelled," General quarters! General Quarters! All hands man your battlestations!"

The Admiral went down to the CIC as the XO stayed on the bridge.

Orders were given to angle the guns to 275 degrees to target the enemy. Helm orders put the Guillen abeam of the targets as the guns were aimed up 15 degrees for the targets 225 miles away. F-35 JSFs with laser designators allowed accurate targeting info to be put into the computer on the Guillen.

Upon completion of the targeting process, the 18 30" guns were fired. The shells screamed in towards Nazi camps. They reloaded and fired 50 seconds later and continued until a target was destroyed. After each target was killed, they moved on to a new one. The shots were made sure to be far away from cities.

With assurances of Nazi shore batteries destroyed by Hogsweat bombers, two Slingers surfaced and began direct contact feeds with overhead satellites.

They then both launched two SHARD drones, set for high altitude random pattern movement, listening for radio and satellite communications. The starting positions and IFF signals of the drones were given to Vastiva's allies, to prevent any accidental shootings - even though the drones cost a measely $5000 each, the intelligence they might gain would be priceless.

The SHARDs didn't really care what was being said, they just listened and began marking comm channels and cell phone indexes.

On the Slingers, ELINT specialists began decoding what was said, by whom, and indexing the conversation flow with troop movements.

In a matter of hours, ELINT had some idea of what the Nazis were using as communication channels, and what they sounded like. But the Vastivans gave them the benefit of a day of chatter, just to be sure.

So when the next big Nazi push began, the now submerged Slingers and the rest of their bretheren listened to what the SHARDs were relaying - and began to fling cruise missiles into Nazi officer and communication positions. This was not a gradual operation - 100 targets were gathered, and 200 missiles assigned to them, two each - just to be sure.

The sea broiled up a thicket of missiles in an instant.

Within four minutes, the Nazis had considerably less people then they had to start. And their communications network was significantly reduced.

Captain Sigurr Von Reichenhoff of the SS-393 Ziggurat, Wolf Pack Commander, sent all details to the heads of each of the allied navies, along with their ELINT findings. The Nazis might have had some success - but this sort of thing would put a serious dent in their ability to wage coordinated attacks for a time.

"Lieutenant, give the go to Coalition forces."
As the Lieutenant gave the order, Stockholm left the control strip and out into the airstrip itself as the midnight wind stung his face. He checked the thermometer - 2 Degrees Celsius. He shuddered. A man came running up to him, PpSh43 slung over his back.
"General Stockholm, we are ready to go. All other airfields have the green light."
Stockholm walked up the ramp of the C5 Galaxy, and saluted each man inside in turn. They closed the ramp, as the plane took off, with thousands of others...

Message to Coalition Forces
Operation: Liberate Lethislavania is a go. At approximately 1800 hours tommorow Hogsweatian paratroopers will be landing on top and around the capital city of Lethislavania. We would me most grateful for support. Watch your AA fire, because there is going to be a alot of planes around.

The bombers switched to the capital, having satisified their goals of annihalating air defenses. However, Harriers operating from aircraft carriers began to strafe the ground so that no temporary defenses could be erected.

The spy slipped down to the street, to the next household he knew as a resistance household. He rapped twice on the door. A man opened it, looking rather grumpy. The spy whispered only one thing.
"They will be here tommorow. The codeword is "The Day of Reckoning has begun"
The man nodded, as he closed the door and the spy proceeded...

As the coalition has the island blockaded, it is also unlikely any help can find its way in... meaning more problems for the Nazis.

I realize that, Hogsweat, but I have vested interests in Lethislavania and it is just making things more difficult to level the capitol, civilians included.

IDF - Merchant ships should be stopped, yes, but not destroyed unless necessary.

With a lack of response from the Nazi forces, Zoogiedom cruise missiles launched in a small volley, in numbers that were greatly toned down from previously planned amounts. These were aimed primarily at disrupting military communications and headquarters. They weren't targeted redundantly, or overly so at least, as aircraft could more effective wipe out the remainder after.

Aircraft began also to strike, due to their perceived greater dependency. Their targets were similar to the targets that the cruise missiles had gone after, and had the futher objective of eliminating anything that would get in the way of a landing.

City

The lone DENP agent helped himself to a cigarette, his standard issue rifle slung over his shoulder. He was alone, next to his empty tent, as he watched a Nazi general giving orders to some of the forces. He wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but it didn't matter - he was in a highly strategic position: shoot, and disappear into the smoldering ruins and then into the woods.

He checked his surroundings carefully, raised his rifle and with a carefully trained eye, aimed and fired. He didn't look to see if he hit; he immediately disappeared from site, trusting his own ability.

The yell rang through the bridge of the battleship Soyuz as she steamed for Lethislavania at 29 knots. Admiral Cunningham stormed onto the bridge, pacing like a caged tiger.
"Damn and blast those fools at the Admiralty!" he snarled. "Captain, turn to bearing 165 and make to all ships, 'follow my turn.'

Cunningham paced the deck as the battleship swung into a tight turn to starboard, her deck canting in the opposite direction to the turn. Silhouetted marvellously against the rising sun, the giant ship's curling bow wave and clean lines were a magnificent sight. Cunningham glared irritably at a small fishing boat, the crew of which stared slack-jawed at the towering ship as she roared past them, her consorts keeping up alongside her and around her, arrayed in a great circle around the battleship and her sister.

Cunningham stopped pacing and turned angrily to Captain First Rank Brian Thatcher. "Do you know what those idiots have done?" he raged. Before Thatcher could answer, he continued, "they've been sending us the wrong way for the last ten hours!" Thatcher shook his head in sympathy, seeking to reduce the volume of steam venting from Cunningham's ears, while the latter went back to pacing.

It was a windy and cold day on the seas. Rear Admiral (lower half) Matthew Lewis was handling the Northwestern end of the blockade from his flag ship, the ISS Rueben, a 12 tribes class carrier. Nothing had happened in his end yet and he had yet launched cruise missiles from his fleet.

Given the war situation, his ship was on a constant yellow alert. He didn't expect it to remain so for long.

"Admiral," called the Communications officer from his bridge post as he got a message from one of the E-2Cs out. "The Hummer 1 reports an inbound military transport for the enemy coast."

"What is it's position?" asked Lewis.

"About 575 miles North of us and 200 from Hummer 1," responded the Comms officer.

"Very well," said the Admiral. "I'll head to CIC and command the situation."

Once in the CIC, the Admiral could make sure everything was done right. "What do we have near to intercept the bogey?" he asked.

"I have a flight of 4 Tomcats running racetrack patterns around the Hawkeye," answered Captain Scott Mitchell, the CAG. "I recommend sending two of them out and having a flight of 4 F-35Cs that are 100 miles away come in to make up for it."

"Make it so," said the Admiral.

The Tomcats

The F-14D Tomcat was an older bird. Many in the IDF Knesset had try to kill her through stopping appropriations to keep her in the air. The large ISS Reuben only had 12 of them and 195 total aircraft. In other words, no matter how much the Navy fought, the Tomcat wouild die. It would be a shame that this agile bird with the AIM-54C Phoenix missile would be retired.

That didn't concern Lt. Cmd. Josh Haldi at the moment. He was glad to be flying, even in this 25 year old plane that's days were numbered. "Madcat 2, this is Madcat 1, we have new tasking to break from 3 and 4 and head out under command of Hummer," Haldi called into the radio,

"Roger 1," said Lt. A.J. Harris.

"Hummer, this is Madcat 1," called Haldi. "Where do you want to send us."

"Madcat, we have 1 enemy inbound cargo breaking blockade," said the controller. "BRAS is 3-4-0, 2-0-0 for 35 angels at 550 knots. best intercept course is 0-1-0 at best speed."

"Copy out," responded Haldi. Harris also copied. Within 30 seconds, Harris formed up on Haldi to cover his wing. The F-14s had been going 300 knots with the wings swept forward. The pilots were glad to unwind. Once they formed up, the afterburners were put on full and the wings swept back to the max. The tomcats went to mach 2.2 flying at an altitude of 38,000 feet. They were each carring 3 external tanks, which were dropped when they were 3/4 of the way to the intercept point. The planes slowed down and the wings swept forward again.

"I have contact, 360 for 35 angels, range 25 miles," called Lt. (JG) Ryan Scott, the RIO for Madcat 1.

"Raise him on radio Scott," ordered Haldi,

"Cargo plane, this is IDF Naval fighters," called Scott onto open international frequencies. "You are entering restricted airspace due to military blockade. We recomend you turn around. We can escort you." Scott wasn't doubting that they would disobey. After all, the Tomcats would fly in front of him to showoff their 4 AIM-54C Phoenixs and 4 AIM-9X Sidewinders. If the pilot disobeyed the 1st order, they would buffet him around with their jet wash.

The plane did not respond at first. Then a thick spanish accent hit the airwaves. "Sir, I'd advise you don't hit me." He looked back and smiled, his large payload sitting in metal cannisters. "I am just delivering presents for families off the coast on Rodenburg Isle, check out the delivery codes on the government databases. My ID# is 37082-B46." He smiled, and continued flying.

Lt. Cmd. Haldi was preparted. He eased his agile Tomcat up 25 more feet and fired 40 cannon shells over the top of the plane, making sure that the pilots saw them.

"Next time they will be aimed at you 37082-B46," said Scott. "Turn around for inspection. If you have nothing to hide you'll turn and then be allowed to continue." As this was said, Madcat 1 was arming the AIM-9M Sidewinder missile on the port wing. He got a nice IR lock on the target and was prepared to fire if the plane didn't turn in the next 25 miles. Haldi did not like firing at a non-combatant, but if this guy had nothing to hide he'd turn and if he did, he would die for it.

The puffs of Light Anti-Aircraft fire nearly droned out the noise of the aircrafts engine. Nearly. Stockholm checked his PPSH41 over again, and then his 'chute.
Thank god for the flyboys he thought. If the B52 raids hadn't occured, they would have lost far more aircraft. The Nazi AA fire was small and sporadic, and the Harriers had done a good job. The area was clear. Stockholm took a deep breath as the green light flicked on, and the platoon moved into position behind him. The General stuck his head out of the plane door, wind blowing his hair to one side.
Marvellous.
He jumped, counting to ten and pulling the chute string. There was a snap.
Shit.
He fiddled for the second string, and finding it, he pulled it tightly several times as he slowed to a near stop, the parachute slowing him down before making the descent. Around him, 400,000 paratroopers screamed in unity the anthem of the Hogsweatian Paratroopers - Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. They were bad singers, but it had a profound effect and the General felt a pang of aspiration swell up in his heart. And so, with a scream, the 10th Army Corp hit the soft grass of Lethislavania.

Gunfire rattled around the tree, chopping off the leaves and forcing James Stockholm down into better cover. Their position was overrun, but except for that the whole Army Corp had landed smoothly.
Odd. That doesn't often happen.
He unslung his PPSH41, and let off a ten round burst of fire from the weapon. Followed by the 'frump' of several frag grenades, machine gun fire from a nearby infantry machine gun, a Kord 12.7 decimated the enemy position ahead. He gave the order to move ahead and link up with Battalion command.

"There aren't responding," said Scott.

"Ask for orders from the Hawkeye," said Haldi. "Their talking to the Admiral."

"This is Lt. Scott with Madcat 1," he said into the radio. "The plane isn't stopping. Requesting instructions."

"Madcat, this is Captain Tom Arnold. You have permission to fire."

"Roger," said Scott.

Upon hearing the order, Haldi eased up on the stick to come up 500 more feet in altitued. He slowed his agile bird to 450 knots. At a range of 2.5 miles, he armed his AIM-9L Sidewinder missile. Scott worked the IR seeker and locked it in on the port engine. He was greeted with a loud warbling tone showing the missile was locked. "FOX 2!" Haldi yelled as he pushed the pickle and the missile went for the port engine. It wouldn't blow the plane up, but it would cause it to crash into the sea in most cases. It may become neccesary to fire a 2nd shot if the control surfaces aren't damaged enough.

Having moved slowly for three days towards the capital, and painstakingly worked out exactly what their plan was for action, the two Airborne Divisions struck.

From out of the forests surrounding what remained of the capital, infantry began to creep slowly toward the ruins of the capital.

Operation: VALIANT DAGGER

While the other members of the coalition were directly attacking the Nazi dictatorship, the Pathfinder teams were busy hunting down and eliminating key figures in their command structure.

They found more than a few victories, racking up many confirmed kills and hundreds of probables.

In the blasted capital of Lethislavania, the SF operated with impunity, striking at infrastructure and personnel.

However, a key target, the main power grid for the city, was still active. It would have to be destroyed, or the Nazis would cause unnecessary casualties to the forces of the other nations.

Team REAPER, in the city, moved several hundred klicks in two days, having commandeered several civilian trucks.

The three fireteams of REAPER crawled along the thick foilage, using their SERE techniques acquired during Advanced Individual Training. It was a moonless night, guaranteeing that no one would spot the team.

Fireteam Charlie, the sniper unit in the group, was stationed outside. Alpha and Bravo, on the other hand, made their way to the outskirts of the power plant, guns at the ready...

"Come on..." whispered Sergeant Masaki Konoko, as she waited for the chance to kill the guards at the gate. They were marching about erractically, and a missed shot would be fatal to the mission.

Finally, the two men stood still, about five feet away from each other. This was her chance. Levelling her SR-25 rifle and activating the thermal sight on it, she took the shot.

A single bullet penetrated the skull of the first, splattering his gray matter all over the second. Before the other man knew what happened, he was also killed.

Fireteam Alpha took the lead, as Bravo cleared the perimeter...

The lead Pathfinder whipped out his Mk. 48 Mod 0 LMG, the finest squad automatic weapon in existence (OOC: It really is. 17% lighter than the M-240B and much more accurate than the M-249, the Mk.48 Mod.0 is only issued to US SpecOps.). As a member of Bravo team, they had to make a distraction for the infiltration unit.

A signal from SGT. Konoko was all they needed.

5.56mm NATO sprayed down on the hapless guards outside, cutting them down like so many stalks of wheat.

One of them tried to escape, crawling to sound the alarm.

A burst from one alert Pathfinder's Tavor OICW removed that threat.

While this was happening, a blanket of gray smoke covered the plant's entrance...

CPT Sasami Uehara led fireteam Alpha deep into the heart of the powerplant. It was tough slogging, as the layout of the plant was unfamiliar to the Pathfinders.

Their mission was complicated as there were several civilian plant workers still in the station. As the Rules of Engagement required that the safety of civilians be priority number one, the greatest care had to be taken. Even so, one of the Pathfinder personnel accidentally shot a worker in the tense atmosphere.

There were few lights on in the plant; after all, it was an ungodly hour. Night vision goggles certainly helped, although the loss of peripheral vision was a serious obstacle to effective action.

Several guards were patrolling the building, but a few bursts of silenced TAR-21 fire was enough to drop them. The bodies had to be hidden, of course.

Finally, Alpha came to the plant's core, the main control room. An electronic warfare specialist spent around a half-hour disabling the plant, ensuring that the Nazis would be unable to do much when the forces of the coalition battered down the gates of the capital.

Escaping wasn't too difficult, after all, there was little fear of being caught, since the guard force was effectively neutralized.

Hopping into the hijacked cars, the twelve Pathfinders sped away into the night...

Strike they did, despite having not received the message. When the lights went out in what little was left of the capital, the airborne troops were quite surprised. It dodn't stop them thinking fast, and ordering up their APCs. Now was an ideal moment to attack.

The clattering, flat blare of the BMD-3Ms' engines sounded across the open ground near the edges of the capital city as the AIFVs tore towards their opponents, Behind them, 1,000 metres away, 2S9 "Anona" SPMs began layind down a barrage of firte on what was thought to be the Nazi front line.

The plane burst into crimson flames, then a second discharge was heard, sending the rear of the plane up. A plume of white smoke erupted and a large shockwave shattered everything within a mile of the plane. The fallout began to slowly drift down.
OOC: there would not be an explosion from the nuclear materials. The fact is many USAF B-52Hs with nukes crashed and no fallout resulted. Many of them blew up at 30,000 feet in some cases. There would be no shockwave anyways as this wasn't a nuke and my planes are further than 1 mile back so they're fine and if we accept the fallout, it is only ocean water so who cares.

Lt. Jurgas carefully eyed the virtual horizon meter in the cockpit of his F-18, as he swooped the Hornet to low altitudes for a reconaissance sweep. It was a fairly mountainous region and he did not want to go below critical altitude. It was also important for him to keep the aircraft level.

Then, without warning, the screen fuzzed, and, after hissing angry, went dead. More than that - the entire cockpit went dead. The radio crackled and went silent; all the screens disappeared; and the steady roar of the engines died down. The plane was sent into a downspiral.

He could not think of anything but the yellow ejection lever below his seat, as he struggled to reach it before he crashed...but as he saw the ground spiral ever nearer, he knew it was too late. Beads of sweat formed on his forhead as he struggled to reach the lever in time...

The aide walked swiftly down the hall, and when she reached the location she was assigned to, knocked twice and entered without waiting. The President was in a meeting with his secretary of defense, but the news she was bearing had higher priorities than anything else at the moment.

"Mr. President, Mr. Defense Minister," she acknowledged briefly before continuing. "We've lost a pilot flying recon in Lethislavania."

"Well, could it have waited?" asked the defense minister, rather irritatedly.

"No, sir. Other electronics a good distance away were blown; a small marine expedition team was forced to retreat and return after their own equipment suffered interference to avoid the fallout."

"What fallout?" asked the President, rising.

"The nuclear fallout, Mr. President. A nuclear blast has occured in Lethislavania. Who or how we don't know, but we're on to it."

"Good lord," said the defense minister, aghast.

The overall electromagnetic effect did not hamper much more Zoogiedom forces, which were concentrated for the most part elsewhere. The prevailing winds drove much of the fallout radiation inland, and so soldiers were ordered to avoid the area. Cargo aircraft would drop humanitarian aid around the area, in due time...

The radiation fallout created a nasty problem for military planners, whose theatre was vastly limited as a result. The soldiers could not be sent into a radiation-concentrated area, and that was that.

Nevertheless sixty thousand forces made landings along a string of beaches where the radiation would not reach them, and thirty thousand more forces were slated to be shipped in or parachuted subsequently. The brunt of the Nazi forces having been dealt with, there was minor resistance; however, mine sweeps and other precautions were taken.

The soldiers could not move too far in land, for fear of the radiation; instead, they awaited directions from the capitol.

There was a cuttoff, and Stockholm cursed communications as he led his Division into the city. Resistance was low, and the resistance that did exist was crushed mercilessely with Hogsweatian superiority in numbers.
"Battalion One One command to all units. We are approaching capital building. Please support"
Stockholm waited impatiently for replies, and after a minute or so they flooded into the communications set.
"Roger that, Two Two is moving into support"
"Affirmative, Six Eight is moving to support"
"Copy Command, Four Nine is moving to engage enemy forces at your location"
"Order Received, Three Seven en route."
"Acknowledged, Two Eight breaking through"
There were cracks of gunfire as Stockholm led One One, One Two, One Three, and One Four battalions towards the Lethislavanian Capital Building.

Corporal Mitkolov dropped his head as a bullet flew past. He looked to his right were a DkSh team were pouring fire into the building - his right, where a standard bearer was knocked down by a rifle shot, and then straight forward, where his PPSh43 was up and firing. The bullets lept forward, shockingly innacurate. As they reached the front of the building, the men that could took cover while others set a C4 charge on the door while DKSh teams retaliated against other Nazi soldiers attacking the assault force.

Go diplomacy! We would like to extend our congratulations to our good ally Vastiva for playing a tremendous role in bringing about a quick and less bloody end to this war. We will give passage to those Nazis who surrendered to Vastiva, and search the nation for remnants to crush the last seeds of the Nazi leadership.

HOWEVER...

It has come to our attention that Hogsweatian forces have entered the capitol and called upon a Communist revolution. We feel it is in the best interests of this nation that a representative government of their choosing be placed in power, and we will not stand for any one nation dictating to Lethislavania their government.

We will welcome the old leaders of Lethislavania, before the Nazis revolted, to establish an interim government, but nevertheless we press for a government representative of Lethislavanians...Lethislavanians, and NOT Hogsweatians.

LET IT BE KNOWN that Zoogiedom is full equipped and well to take care of this matter on our own. Lethislavania was our former protectorate in which we still have vested interests. Our trade suffered the most during the former regime and the war. It is in our best interests to restore the nation economically and politically - not yours.

If allies such as DPUO and Vastiva wish to help in the process to restore order, they are of course welcome. Contracts to rebuild Lethislavania are of course open. But BE IT KNOWN that under no circumstances will Zoogiedom tolerate the occupation of Lethislavania by another nation.

Vastiva has no vested interest in Lethislavia or its people. We will be shipping over medical and relief supplies, construction teams, and civilian specialists for use by Lethislavia in rebuilding.

At the conclusion of rebuilding, trade and other relations can begin, as it is in our best interest to have many trading partners.

The thousand who surrendered are being deported to our colony, Sisu Pangea, and from there may be integrated into another conflict, depending on their ability to adapt to the way things are in the world.

Vastiva's W-8 fleet will remain on station for six months time, to help insure a lack of foreign invasion. We realize this force is minor in relation to that of our allies in this action, but we see it as doing our part.

The 116th Mobile Artillery had been waiting offshore as well as the 68th Guards armour and 69th Motorised Guards, in several large tank carriers. Now the occupation had begun, they were ordered into the capital. As they hit the shore, the Tatra's trailing ammunition, something was going on in the capital...

Adrian Kwame was standing on the podium, delivering a speech to the crowded masses. Around him, Hogsweatian sentries stood lifelessly, observing the situation as a BMP3 rumbled next to them and another squad of men dropped out. There were some brief salutes as an officer was noticed.

The M40A1 was a strong weapon - good record and an all over excellent rifle. This particular rifle had been fitted with an 8x modified scope - night vision and thermal, and a bleeping big silencer. The man was an expert. He held the rifle softly yet tightly, tucked into his shoulder hard as he moved it slowly from target to target. There was no need for thermals or night vision. This target was easy. He shifted the hood over his head, making himself look as discreet as possibly on the rooftop.

"Yeah...I dunno, could be" The officer himself was unsure what was going on. They had been alerted here... some government excercise probably. Another soldier lit up, and he offered the cigarrete pack around and as it returned to his hand, he noticed it empty as several puffs of smoke rose up into the sky. There was a crack - it was silent, but the sniper amongst them knew what was going on.

"And I shall bring -" A bullet slammed straight into Adrian Kwame's head, blood dripping out as he collapsed onto the podium. There were screams, as civilians ran around not unlike headless chickens while the soldiers tried to sor them out.

The government sniper knew what was going on. He signalled to his partner to move cautiously round the side of the building, while he unslung his SV-99. Several thoughts raced through his mind, and suddenly the ten-second feedback monitor clacked dead. He turned to run, as instinct kicked in he stealthily moved round the block, drawing his handgun while putting the rifle away. On the floor was the body of his teampartner, shot straight through the head. The kevlar coat and helmet were useless.
He swung the pistol up in the air, scanning the backalley. There was a creak, and the soldier swung his foot to the side before pulling the trigger.

Easy. Too easy. The first one was dead and the other about to be. Knife raised, the assassin walked up slowly behind the government sniper, but before he could strike there was a swing and a gunshot. He ducked, years of practiced training had worked its way on the hardened assasin. Taking a swipe, he gashed the knee of the soldier, bringing him down to the floor as a six inch knife gutted him straight through the face. The assasin gathered his weapons and ran quickly.
