The Lands of Alex
12-10-2004, 03:06
The People's Assembly of the lands of Alex is having its first open election, under the new Federal Charter.
The parties and their prime ministerial candidates:

-The Socialist Party:
-Calls for a strong military, semi-isolationism, a strong federal economic system that will gradually invest in and purchase major industries, and a light tariff to stimulate economic growth.
-Interim Vice President Iskander Hmarzae is the party leader.

-The Citizens' Rights Party:
-Similar to the Socialist Party, except advocates global involvement and calls for a national judicial system to protect the citizens' rights.
-Former Prime Minister Jeanne Bleu is the party leader.

-The Provincial Unity Party:
-Calls for the repeal of the new Federal Charter that strengthens the federal government, and the stop of the future presidential election.
-Former Governor Patrizo Enrico is the party leader.

-Patriotic Unionist Party:
-Calls for the rights of the nations citizens to be added to the new Federal Charter.
-Former Governor Thoma Kinayi is the party leader.

-Centrist Party:
-Same platform as the Patriotic Unionists. Formerly in coalition government with the Socialist and Citizens' Rights Parties. Only survives because it calls for an end to "freedom communism"*.
-Hannah Dimitrios is the party leader.

-Royalist Party:
-Calls for a ceremonial constitutional monarchy to be restored.
-Princess Joe Anne Placard is the party leader. Her views would shape a royalist administration. She is very liberal, youthful, and her views are probably closest to the Citizens' Rights Party. Also, being a royalist many fascists have thrown their lot with her.

*Freedom communism is an economic form used in certain provinces where free trade is employed, but several companies control many industries and their workers are unpaid provided with minimum housing and food, and their right to vote is granted to the board of directors whom cast it for them. Some provinces have outlawed this, but their economy wasn’t dependent on it as the provinces currently using it are.

The Socialist Part and the Citizens' Rights Party form the Nationalist Coalition. The Provincial Unity, Patriotic Union, and Centrist Parties form the Anti-Nationalist Coalition.

This also a debate lodge a question directed to all or any of the candidates and they will answer.

This election will determine te number of seats each party has in parliament. Each voting district or electorate (districts make up on electorate, which spans an entire provence). The prime ministeral candidates are first on list to be appointed to the People's Assembly, followed by canidates winning in the first round of IRV voting are in the second group ranked starting with winners with the highest margin. Then you continue through the rounds to give enough seat (if winners aren't enough then we use the smallest losing margin).
