In an open session three days ago, the National Assembly of Schultaria Prime placed the final touches on several key pieces of legislation designed to enhance the nation's defensive, industrial, and diplomatic positions. This package, known as the "Shining Beacon" Bill, was passed by a vote of 332 - 68 after some 18 hours of debate. Considered to be the first major redirection in government policy in over 80 years, many residents of Schultaria Prime and the Protectorate of Islandia Schultaria welcome the changes as a way to bring the government into a more proactive international stance.

Limited Arms Dependence Act

1. Eliminate foreign built technology on all but the most advanced infantry based military systems.
2. Eliminate weapons purchases from nations who do not have direct diplomatic contact with the Nation of Schultaria Prime.
3. Develop joint defense systems with nations who are only directly allied by a Treaty of Technological Exchange or a Treaty of Protective Union.


International Aid and Diplomacy Act

1. Increase Schultarian economic and personnel commitments to The Alliance of Pure Research and Engineering States (TAPRES) for the expressed purpose of providing nations with their most basic requirements.
2. Establish a new program, through Designwerks, to provide insurance and economic aid for more nations who request financial assistance.
3. Further reinforce ties with nations of good standing through the initiative of establishing embassies and consulates within the nation of Schultaria Prime.


Industrial and Scientific Enhancement Act
1. Increase funding to all post secondary education institutions by 30% over the next 8 years and all government research institutions by 20% over the next 5 years to reinforce the Schultarian commitment to knowledge.
2. Research and develop new methods of industrial efficiency to increase total manufactured exports by 50% over the next 10 years.
3. Reduce the national work week by 10 hours over the next 6 years to 25 hours a week.

The Commonwealth applauds the recent initiative taken by Schultaria Prime to become more internationally involved. A fifty-five controlling share is perfectly fine with the Board as a precautionary measure.
