Emperor Lucius shook his head in disappointment and shock. Word had just reached his ears that a large truck bomb had just been set off in an underground parking structure. His grip fastened tightly around his walking stick as he growled to his assistant, "Get the IIB (International Intelligence Bereau) working on this right away."

Citizens watched in horror as a plume of black smoke rose up into the clouds. Dozens of fire trucks and ambulances were waiting in the street for any firefighters with the injured to come forth. Several helicopters whirred around the 60 story building, spraying gallons of water at fires that apparently shot up the elevator shafts to higher levels.

Emperor Lucius was pacing back and forth in his office, glancing at the television once in a while. His assistant came through the doors with news.

"Emperor," he said. "Reports came back that 30 people have died, and over 100 are missing. The IIB says that they have a lead that suggests that communists did this."

"Commies?" Answered Lucius."I thought that they were all killed in the bombing of '48."

"A small band has risen and made itself heard. We must retaliate."

"Then we'll have to get the IIB to find their bases. Then we'll make sure that we kill them all."

The Italian Social Republic would like to activate the Corpo Truppe Volontari, a volunteer division in the Italian army dedicated to fighting the spread of Bolshevism. Corpo Truppe Volontari is 44,000 troops all equipped with AK-74's and Beretta 92SB-F's as side-arms, several troops are equipped for raids with Beretta shotguns.

Corpo Truppe Volontari is split into 4 divisions including Division Littorio which is a motorized division including, but not limited to T-90 tanks and MiG-29 fighters and large infantry ammounting to 15,000, Divison Dio lo Vuole is a semi-motorized division with T-98 tanks (very few) and infantry ammounting to 5,000, Divison Fiamme Nere is an airborne division with MiG-31 and MiG 33 fighters and many paratroopers ammounting to 12,000, Division Penne Nere is also an airborne division with the same capabilities and numbers as Fiamme Nere. These divisions are ready to help the fight against World Bolshevism if you give the word.

(Comatic News Station)--In a stunning move today, Emperor Lucius mobilized 6 infantry divisions today, totaling up to 12,000 troops, and the second armored division, which he had ordered to prepare last month. The IIB is not revealing the destination of the troops at this moment....

Emperor Lucius scanned the map of Collekevvi, a region in northern Comatica, on which he had drawn the paths of the army. Fieldmarshall Lucilius Melemus knocked on the door and entered the dimly lit quarters. "Emperor?" he said cautiously."They're ready for your instructions."

Lucius stood up from his chair and drew back the curtains. He pulled a cigar from his breastpocket and lit it. He sighed, and said, "Tell them to go. I am a busy man."

Lucilius nodded and left. Lucius took a long draw from his cigar and sat back down. He just hoped that the establishment in Collekevvi as the only one left....

The Governing Council of Hobbitstan sends its commiserations to the people of Commatica for their loss. It also wishes to say that the hinterland near Collekevvi is to be considered no longer under Hobbitstani control- communist bandits, some of Commatican origin, have held it for over a year now, defying every attempt by the (small) Hobbitistan Border Legions to drive them out. It requests air and logistics support for a major offensive against these terrorist-supporting rebels, but asks that interference stops short of an invasion of what is still fundamentally Hobbitstani soil.

Very well. But we shall patrol outside of your borders in Collekevvi, should the power of the communists be too much for you to handle.

Somewhere on the border with Collekevvi- HNN News

A group of Hobbitstan Border Legionaires shelter behind and around a T-34 MBT, painted with the rearing pony emblem of the legions. They are firing sporadically with FN FAL assault rifles up the rocky valley, towards a cluster of houses marking a communist-held village. Incoming fire is heavy- sand and grit are being kicked up and rounds richochet off the tank's armour.

Suddenly there's a flash in the village and a plume of black smoke marks the path of an RPG. It desribes an arc ending with the T-34's front, but glances off and bries itself in the sand before exploding. The blast hurls debris into the air, and leaves two legionaires lying with blood on their uniforms. One of the survivors crawls behand the tank, drops his rifle (it hangs by a strap) and picks up a bulky backpack radio.

Several seconds later a roar is heard, and two fighter-bomber speed across the valley, releasing a volley of rockets and a bomb. The payload crashes down into the cluster of houses with a series of enormous booms.

The T-34 lurches forwards firing again, and the legionaires move forwards, firing. The village has been taken!

Hobbitstan forces are making progress into the region, with Comatican air strikes making up for their own lack of heavy weapons or air power. The insurgents/rebels have been forced back into the mountainous badlands of the border, where they are secure from airstrikes, but also contained.

OOC: I have no problem with the RLF supplying insurgents on Hobbitstani soil, but the terrorist attack is a matter for Comitica. I'm thinking that soon a friendly fire airstrike incident could lead to poor relations, a ceasing of Comitica-Hobbitstani joint operations and then maybe a bordor-violation by Comitica, but where do you think we should take this?

In an attempt to calm himself, Emperor Lucius had repeatedly been smoking cigars. As he smoked his first one for the day at 7:01 AM, Fieldmarshall Lucilius Meremus had filled him in on what had happened overnight.

A recent raid on a large communist camp found 140 miles Southwest of Tarinholtz, a city in south-central Comatica, revealed a stockpile of chemical weapons. The weapons were seized, and 40 communists were hauled away for questioning.

Yet another large communist establishment was discovered last week, and the 11th and 12th infantry divisions were sent, along with 4 Decilaters of the 4th Armored division to apprehend them.

For future reference, this is my nations map:

The 3rd decilater of the 6th infantry division was stationed by the foot of Mount Cumahtsia. The snowcapped peak rose 2,000 feet above their heads.

A Decilater (Meaning "Tenth Side" in Latin) is made up of 200 men; there are ten Decilaters in a division. This particular Decilater had nothing to do but stay where they were stationed. Captain Sextus Ocula sat idly by the troops, talking quietly with Major Livius Dekracrondum.

All noise ceased when a loud boom was heard. It was followed by more booms and cracks. Flashes and fire began to illuminate the twilight mountain sky. Then, very near to the soldiers, a shell hit the side of the mountain. The troops, grabbing their ZSR-90 Rifles and C24 automatic Rifles, loading them as they ran, hurtled towards the sound of the fighting.

As they burst through a patch of shrubs, communists dressed in dark green camoflage stood there, and fired. Some soldiers had no time to dodge, and were hit. As they tumbled down the remainder of the hill, the rest opened fire on the communists.

An MBT fired rounds upon the soldiers, killing more and more by the second. Soldiers from both sides fell to the ground, dropping like flies. Sextus looked up to the sky. Three Z281 Blackrods flew overhead. They doubled back, and fired on the communists, killing most of them. One last bullet, however, came from a communist gun, and hit Sextus square in the chest. He slumped to the ground, a bloody mess.

I am pleased to announce that the Communists have been subdued. I extend my thanks to Hobbitstan Border Legions for the aid against the communists. I was warned that they might rise again, but we are taking new precautions and security measures to ensure any terrorist attacks of any kind will be stopped.
