Multi-role tactical fighters needed

Adaptus Astrates
09-10-2004, 19:51
The nation of Adaptus Astrates prides itself in it's airforce, and currently oppererates from fighter command Su-35s and F-35s, of which more are being built. But of course, more are required to watch the vast skies and coasts of the nation.
A number of types may be required. They must have:
Stealth
BVR weapons
Speeds that reach supersonic/supercruise
Formidable arsenal of AAMs and ASMs
Superior agility
Equal AA and AS capability

We are willing to accept the best and brightest of designs. We look forward to replies!

The new N-20 desgned primarally for night missions, but can be customized for day missions also.

Contains the new Sbox stealth computer.Instead of hiding from enemy radar produces multiple frequencies to fool radar.

Arsenal:
2-M-100's laser guided missles.
2-M-28's heat seeking missles with radar that can distinguish between its target and decoys.
2-BM-40's laser guided bombs.

Speed is Mach 3

Get Rafale's. They got everything but stealth, and stealth isn't that important in a fighter. Passive radar, or radiation detection, will detect them. Its possible for them to work on blind-flying naval missions with stealth, but other than that...

Hybalt Aeronautics would like to place a bid for this contract. We offer several suitable aircraft, the most advanced being the Seabolt, currently doing service in the armed forces of Granzi:

GFB-26 Seabolt
Image (http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Granzi/Hybalt%20Aeronautics/seabolt.gif)

The Seabolt is developed as a multi-role fighter that can double as a
high-speed stealth bomber. Many advanced systems have been incorporated
into the design, including an electronic jamming pod on the underside
(optional). Large bays can carry up to 10,000 lbs. of ordinance and has the
ability to launch multiple cruise missiles at once. Radar absorbing alloys and
paint are used in construction, making the aircraft nearly invisible at night.

General Characteristics:

Height: 10.6 feet (3.23 meters)
Wingspan: 46 feet (14.02 meters)
Length: 64 feet (19.51 meters)
Weight: 33,000 pounds empty and 79,000 pounds fully loaded.

Bah go for eurofighters, a bit more expensive than Rafales and a bit more advanced (seeing as the advanced models of the rafale are now looking very dicey unless France finds a significant export market, which with everyone looking at the singapore competition, is looking less and less likely).
As Chellis said stalth isn't all that nessicary on a multirole fighter and it carries too many trade offs, of course compared to most fighters today the EF typhoon and rafale are both very very stealthy, just not quite in the league of the F-22 money gulper.

Anyway why go for the EF typhoon:
Stealth: surpising stealthy despite a more traditional layout, can effectively engage air targets at well over 100kms without using radar (the PIRATE IRST is rated at at least 180km).
Speed, fully supersonic and super criuse capable even with its basic EJ200 engines
Agility: F-15 pilots were getting very annoyed about getting hugely owned by the early developement models and on paper it can out manouver even the TV versions of the Flanker series, now if we move onto the upgraded versions with the 3D TV engines, things becoem quite clear
BVR weapons,Formidable arsenal of AAMs and ASMs, Equal AA and AS capability: You name it Typhonn can carry it from AMRAAM to Meteor BVR missiles and from Paveway II LGBs to brimstone and Stormshadow its air to ground weapons are second to none. Weapons upgrades are extremely easy to perfrom usign the weapons handling system (while not quite windows style plug n' play addign a new weapon only really requires loading new software settings).

So basically our recomendations would be:
Self produce either a Tranche1/2 version (all weapons and systems capability, only the uprated 3D TV engines and the proposed ESAA radar missing) or buy From Crookfur Arms a fully upgraded version, with the more powerful, reliable, longer lasting and thrust vectoring EJ280 engines, a radar from the highly popular CFE range (so good even United Elias uses them!), an upgraded EO/IR search and targeting system and the weapons management system configured to use your choice of RL or Crookfur or other NS nations custom weapons. We might even throw in our advanced 25mm CTA cannon as a repalcment for the Mauser BK27 cannon. All this for the low rpice of $52million each

"Rivette Aerospace may be willing to provide a shipment of Thunder aircraft, providing negotiations prove fruitful. Presuming, of course, that there is any interest in purchasing the best conventional aircraft that money can buy."

~ Rivette Aerospace Marketing Corps statement

[Rivette Aerospace is a subdivision of Rivette MI Corporation, an Imperial Trade Conglomerate Aligned-Interest]

[OOC: Full details on the Thunder can be obtained at request; it is a 'conventional' (modern-technology) aircraft designed by Rivette to accomodate an old contract which fell through. They have about seven hundred of them sitting around, gathering dust; they're essentially low-RCS air dominance fighter/bombers packing about 112,000lbs maximum thrust. They have one non-modern aspect: they have PFC-filled cockpits, which improves pilot g-tolerance, and a EM-based pilot interface system. That could be ignored and replaced with a modern cockpit, though, naturally.]

I personaly think that the F-22 Raptor would be an excellent choice.

no image available - think beefed up YF-23 with 3, 3-D thrust vectoring nozzles and 2 ventral intakes for the combined cycle variable specific impulse magneto-plasma rocket driven scramjets with helicon-array emp forced plasma afterburners
3rd generation air dominance fighter/bomber.
A reengineered and heavily modifyied version of the US YF-23 Black Widow.
Capable of operating from an orbital position or from any ground base. Designed for the release of longrange tactical microfusion cruisemissles or hypervelocity air-to-air/air-to-ground multitargeting swarmer missles at highmachnumbers from the upper atmosphere where it can slip out of range of anti-air and air defense systems at escape velocities or from sea level combat situations utilizing its stealth and speed and excellent weapons systems for first site, shot, kill style air dominance. In dogfighting combat situations utilizes supermanuverability and superior speed to bring to bear a 7 point 30mm hypervelocity light auto-railgun on close range targets.

From the ground it can hit a target anywhere in the world and without refueling make it home by skipping above the atmosphere and making a reinsertion to attack and then again to land.

From an orbital deployment the AF/AB-23E can swoop into the upper atmosphere where it can deploy missles to destroy ground, naval and airborne targets alike while remaining out of range of most airdefense systems.

In close support of ground forces tactical microfusion missles and multitargetting swarmer missles excell in supressing if not completely destroying enemy possitions ahead of friendly ground forces.

10 - external missle hardpoints 5 on each wing & 4 internal missles hardpoints - effective ranges(22km & 1200km)
1 - 7 point 30mm hypervelocity light auto-railgun - effective range(1km)

The SZ-1 'Vulture' Strike Aircraft

The SZ-1 Vulture was designed by Windham and Green Defense Industries as a multi-role fighter designed to compete with some of the best air-superiority fighters in the world today. The fighter is optimized for anti-ship and anti-surface warfare but also has some air-to-air capability. Its avionics are roughly comparable to the F-35 JSF. The Vulture combines the strengthened internal structure and the longer wing and tail control surfaces of the naval version with the short takeoff/vertical landing capabilities of the USAF model.

The Vulture is designed as a STOVL jet, which allows it to get airborne from either McVie or Nelson-class light carriers or from battlefields where there are no viable airstrips. The ship also carries a 24 mm gun mounted internally to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag. It is primarily designed to operate from aircraft carriers and is optimized for the Forrest-class aircraft carrier constructed by the Portland Iron Works (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345001).

The Vulture's radar system is similar to the advanced electronically scanned array found in the F-35 but is integrated with the global positioning system (GPS) uplink provided by either the aircraft carrier or the Freedom-class superdreadnaught. Countermeasures are provided by Windham and Green's electronics division and is based on the electronics warfare systems found in the Freedom-class superdreadnaughts. The targeting system also incorporates GPS and a dual mode laser tracker and laser marker.

The Vulture (SZ-1):
Length: 15.6 m; Height: 4.75 m; Wingspan: 12.8 m
Propulsion: Turbofan engine, thrust 23,500 pounds
Maximum takeoff weight: 28,110 kg

get the SAAB JAS 39´Gripen. It's one of the best multirole fighters. (That's what the JAS stands for. J = Jakt = Fighter, A = Attack, S = Spaning = Recon. )
It has a wider range of weapons for it. Everything from anti ship missiles and AA missiles, to runway bombs and mavericks.
