Guaranteed to all People of the Server. For the People of the Socialist Server, in order to provide a commonwealth of the People, to insure tranquility, to insure justice, to insure protection, and insure the rights to life every citizen deserves, do ordain this Governing Charter for the Socialist Server and the United Districts over which its Federal authority falls.

Article One
All Districts shall stand United under this charter for the common good, yet if it is evident a District believes in a reasonable difference with the Server, than that District shall be allowed to Cede from the Server and sever all ties. Each District has the right to provide for its People as the People see fit, and that shall not be hindered by Federal authority. Federal laws regarding the People will prove to be fairly feathery, as each District has the right to decide laws by which to govern by. It is assumed though, that each district under Federal Authority, shall have a void of laws and conduct a state of Anarchy. Any Federal Authority by which to seek some order within these Districts is ordained to keep the guidelines projected that are guaranteed to all People of the Server.

Article Two
To provide a commonwealth of the People, a Server shall be established which will collect the makings of the People as a mass, and contribute it to a common stock. This common stock will be re distributed to the People as they see fit.

Section one- The People of each District have the right to speak to the Commonwealth on any issue they wish to have addressed regarding what the Server provides. This can be held on a Community level, District level, or Server level, in that successive order. In this way the People can speak directly with the Commonwealth and communicate their ideas without distortion.

Article Three
To insure tranquility, Federal Bureaus shall be established which will coordinate all functions of the Peoples economy, to regulate and track all economic progress and recession in specific areas of the economy. These Bureaus shall be led by a Minister accepted by the People. An assembly of all Bureaus shall be dubbed the General Cabinet.

Section one- A Minister of any Bureau shall be chosen by the People, an election held whenever it is seemed necessary, and brought to the attention of the Server by the People. Elections shall be held at the Peoples discretion alone, and thus the faith of the Bureaucracy is placed.

Section two- These Bureaus shall coordinate Departments as they see fit to keep order to the economy, and organize a hierarchy within themselves to govern order of these Departments. All Departments shall report to the Bureau they are descended from.

Article Four
To insure justice, High Courts shall be established which will settle disputes between the People, and the Nation as a whole, to regulate all moral progress and recession in general areas of society. These Courts shall consist of a Tribunal of Judges accepted by the People. An assembly of all Courts shall be dubbed The Justice.

Section one- A Judge of any Tribunal shall be chosen by the People, an election held whenever it is seemed necessary, and brought to the attention of the Server by the People. Elections shall be held at the Peoples discretion alone, and thus the faith of the High Courts are placed.

Section two- The Tribunal has District Authority to pass judgment as it sees fit; Following no Federal Code and adhering only to the guidelines projected that are guaranteed to all People of the Server; Yet a Moral System decided on the People of the District, that does not stand as a regulation but as a guideline to follow in deciding a judgment.

Section three- Any Person or People of the Server has a right to bring a case before the Courts, for judgment regarding the actions of a Second Party.

Section four- For affairs that are regarded more than Domestic, the High Courts of all Districts shall assemble in a Justice, and confer on the said matter to pass proper judgment.

Article Five
To insure protection, the United Districts of the Server under a single Bureau, and accepted by the General Cabinet as well as the Justice, shall each provide military service for the Server in times of war. To protect the Values that the people hold close to their hearts, it is expected they come forth in time of war to aide the Server, although no mandatory drafting shall be instated to force any Person to fight for ideals which they do not believe.

Excerpts of a summary drafted by the Late Co'od Arch'Juscte Nyx
Former Ruler of Late Fodmodmadtol

It is taken that the people of the Server, are to live as they choose, but not to the point where they would disrupt the life of another. It should be taken the Server is there to do what its name implies, to Serve [ the people ]. It is to coordinate the peoples economy in a way which all can benefit, and none are left out. Yes, there will be those who will try and exploit a system conceived on [ a commonwealth ], and yes they shall have to be dealt with. That is for the Courts, The People, to decide who is a Dreg. To protect the ideals that you live by, living as you see fit, it is excepted that you fight for it if times are threatening your peace, and not roll over to allow another to spear you in the heart.

.An Small Chat

"This is Leslie Hasmat, with I R C Twelve Twenty-Two, speaking with the Minister of Research and Review, Doctor Friedmin. Doctor Friedmin, tell us a bit about the Governing Charter."

"Well, actually, this Constitution is not at all new. This dates back to the East Fodmodmadtol Theocracy, which is strange, for as it states this Charter outlines a Government more like a Bureaucracy, or even a Direct Democracy, nothing like the Theocratical Kingdom that controlled Fodmodmadtol in the past."

"Ah, and this is interesting, for it was even drafted by Nyx. The Former Ruler of East Fodmodmadtol."

"Yes, Leslie, this is indeed interesting. It was always said of Nyx that she spoke for the people though, saying that if it weren't for the whole, Theocracy thing, Fodmodmadtol would practically have been run by the People. The Arch'Juscte always had a thing for the Citizen."

"Yes, yes, the Late Nyx. She herself drafted this. What does this Governing Charter hold for the country?"

"It means huge changes for Fodmodmadtol. Radical. Extreme. We have never before even considered a Constitution, with only a few simple Documents decided on here and there to keep somewhat of an order, and here we are, a Constitution having fallen into our laps! There's no way this can be ignored, no way what so ever. Is even signed by all of the former Juscti."

"Well, exactly what sort of changes?"

"Ah yes, what this means. Well, the economy will be much more stable now once this is instated, which it will be very soon. Order should be a bit more evident, but District rights will be valued much more highly above Federal authority. As you can tell by the length of the Doctrine, not much was planned for the Federal Government. Oh, and of course, elections."

"Something we haven't seen in years."

"Aside from that, too many changes to list Leslie."

"Well tell us now, how did you come across this Doctrine?"

"Babka."

"Babka?"

"We were searching for Babka recipes in the Utobian Chapel."

"Babka never failed us. Ever. Well, Doctor, thank you for this short chat with us."

"You're quite welcome."

"Back to the Studio with Anchor, Rick James. Bee Yotch. Reporting in on the Mouvau dispute. We'll have a live call in with the listeners and Doctor Friendmin on the hour, on more interpretations of the Constitution. So please, stay tuned."

The Noviet congress would like to send its congratulations to Fodmodmadtol on ratifying this revolutionary piece of constitutional legislature. It is our hope that your people will experience an increase in their political freedoms as a direct repercussion.

More decidedly so we hope that your new system will, as hoped, provide an increased stability in the private sector, as we see the increase of resources past sustenance the first step to freedom. With this in mind we’ve decided to offer a proposal. Nova Hope is willing to bet on Fodmodmadtol’s success in the economy in the form of subsidized business. If we could come to some understanding about private ownership and your punitive tax laws we’d be happy to subsidize a corporation, dealing solely in luxuries, to provide jobs for your people.

We would gladly review any offer we are handed by anyone really, but perhaps you should clarify a bit more, or perhaps we should clarify a bit more. We are more than eagre to discuss anything that you wish, and you should just make it known and we can arrange something. Would you like to visit for a cup of tea perhaps?

We would be more than happy to send someone to meet with you in person. As we send this communication preparations to send The Right Honourable, Judge Alfred Manning. While it may seem odd that we’ve elected to send our a supreme court judge to speak with you there is some concern as to whether or not we can in good faith trade with you. RH Manning will be able to lay to rest our legal worries with his report on your country, except him in fourteen hours.

OOC: Sorry about the delay,… and the short post,… I’ll touch it up once you say yes. (By touch up I mean elongate on the judge as your doing most of the writing here, I feel out done.)

To Nova Hope:

If we can, we would like to give Judge Manning a small walkthrough of the Federation. A tour through the Vineyard Villages always makes a brilliant weekend, and can provide sufficient grounds for your report on our Nation if you doubt our peoples stability. Of course a visit to the Ministry Complex is mandatory then, if you also wish to review our infastructure. We will be awaiting with much anticipation. Glorfy Diplomatic is the Airport which would be most suited for his arrival; South Hampton, Vineyard District.

En Route to the Glorfy Diplomatic Airport the small plane was surprisingly empty for a diplomatic mission. The only occupant of the twin engine, one roomed jet was the honourable judge himself. An accomplished pilot he’d insisted that he go it alone on this mission seeing as how the last one had turned out to be so fruitless. Mebe these fellas will turn out to be better. Besides its awfully nice to be able to get out into some countryside, out of this city work. Making his final course alteration he put the plane on to automatic and pulled a clipboard from the pouch beside him. After reading he pondered aloud.
“This country does seem to have a nice constitution in order but I wonder, would they be willing to forgo the punitive taxes to actually accept international capital. More importantly do these people have enough liberty on the local level to justify opening relations? While its fair to say that we will deal with those who lack a democracy other measures need to be taken, hmm.”

As the plane touched down on the tarmac the Judge was whistling to himself. Killing the engines and shutting down the plane’s systems he stood, stooped really. Making his way back to the exit he picked up his rifle case and duffel bag. Pressing the door button he watched it slowly roll down. Now to see who’s come to meet me.

Smile smile! 'Twas all smiles. Nanoo had been aching for a chance to open the Federation to others, and conduct a sort of grand tour. She always loved playing host besides. Unbelievably ecstatic she was, so much so she even rolled out that spiffy Red Carpet! Everything would have to be perfect though.

"Maybe fir-first to the Vineyards.. No no, Po-Port Jeff.. Oh oh, maybe a visit to Mon-Montauk.."

Nanoo was dressed in the 'Casual,' 'Uniform.' Shame those two words had a place next to one another. It was simple though, which might be taken as Casual by some, but it was how you say, 'Crisp.' A form fitting black blouse with wide white cuffs and collar, paired with black trousers which shared a lineage with bell-bottoms. She could be mistaken for Korean, but was actually North Korean. Isn't that a big difference? Tresses of black fell straight to just past her jaw-line, fraying ever so slightly in the breeze. Her rounded face framed perfectly a straight and erect nose, delicate lips with rounded cheek, and rusty brown eyes which were hidden beneath perfectly even bangs.

Someone once thought she was Lucy Liu at a passing glance, proclaimed their discovery, and were dealt a swift brick to the forehead.

[/Exposition]

The Minister of Trade; For that is a spiffy title which she holds that must be used to refer to her every now and again; Was sitting expectantly on the hood of her shiny new BMW, kicking a heel against the tire rhythmically. She had began to count the dashed lines on the runway on the side of which she was parked, when the constant whine of aircraft engines finally bashed their way through into her conscious. A look up, to the left, to the right, and then out in front of her again when she realized the plane had already landed.

A gasp, and she hopped off from the car, and scrambled to the oh-so-nifty Red Carpet. A few carefull steps towards the plane, and then the door opened. A broad smile, and she stood up to attention. She waved to the new Arrival, placing her vacant hand on her hip.

"Salve! Welcome to the Federation!"

Alfred stepped from the plane with his typical nonchalance. Clearing the small doorway the duffel was hoisted to his side and the rifle case over his back. Looking about the airport his eyes were immediately brought to the ‘welcoming party’. One person. Good nice and informal, though I think my boots my scuff the carpet a bit. Chuckling inwardly at his own jest he pulled his wide brimmed hat against the mid day sun and walked down the red carpet in a confident stride.

Alfred must’ve been quite a sight coming down the carpet. If ones eyes rolled from bottom to top they first come to his boots. Almost rawhide the leather boots clicked even through the carpet as the heel struck the runway underneath. His informal pants were a monochrome black BDU that moved freely and sported many half filled pouches. Suspended by a leather belt with a discreet gold buckle that rested above the dark gortex shirt that stretched over his thick frame the pants were not made for impressions but utilitarian needs. To top it all off a tanned leather jacket that hung knee length but remained loose and open completed the ensemble.

His eyes soft against his hardened skin the chiseled face was broken only by the barring of his white teeth for a melting smile. Extending his hand to take the lady’s he pressed her softer skin to his lips as he greeted and introduced.
“G’d afternoon ma’am. I am the Right Honourable Judge Alfred Manning of the Dominion of Nova Hope’s Supreme Court and I must say I am tickled to be here.”

A small laugh and she drew her hand away. She leaned foward, grabbed hold of his head, and planted a kiss right in the middle of his forehead. A big smile on her face she took a step away, tilted her head back first, then spat at his feet.

"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Nanoo, welcome to South Hampton. I'm sure you'll have a pleasant visit in Vineyard."

Seemingly a bit preoccupied with what she was doing though, it was a dry statement, her hands were fervently searching through her hair. A quirk of the brow, and she pulled a simple bobby pin out with an air of a great victory over such a small feat. A wink to the judge as she turned it around in her fingers, and she flicked it off onto the tarmac.

"Now that we have the formalities out of the way, no need to have a recording of it for the Ministry. Saftey precaution my arse... They're just nosy in my opinion." Turn on heel and an offhand pat on the judges arm, she sauntered over to the car, stopping as she took the handle. "'How was your flight?"

A second thought spared a glance over her shoulder. "Oh, and 'twas a bug, mind you."
Nova Hope
22-10-2004, 04:33
Walking arm in arm with the beautiful woman Alfred smiled, a feature he was hardly without.
“Well ma’am, er Nanoo if I may. Well Nanoo the flight was fine, though with just me on the plane I missed out on my in flight meal.” With a voice that was deep and boisterous he continued, as if abetted by his small jest.
“So if we could I’d love your company to get a good meal here. Of course it’s my treat but you’ll have to pick the restaurant, despite my fondest wishes our Intel files don’t include restaurants and eateries.” It was about this time that she mentioned the bug. Alfred’s brows reached for the rim of his hat as he chuckled at that.
“Don’t worry I’m sure there’s enough parabolic microphones in the area to make due without it. I’m sure my own government has lip readers watching the orbital feed.” Waiving into the air at no one in particular he offhanded to her, “I take it as worry. You’ll go paranoid otherwise.”

"Bugging, espionage, and nosy Government Intel aside.. You would like to eat first?"

Click. Door was pulled open and she slid into the drivers seat. She reached out to the dashboard and grabbed a packet that had been haphazardly tossed there to just get it out of the way. A few pages fell out as she riffled through it, thumbing quickly to a specific section with highlights, underlines, and tears all over it. A purse of the lips, and she tossed the bundle behind her into the back-seat among a chaotic maelstrom of discarded paperwork. The back-seat, Oi. The floor was piled up to the seat in official looking folders, packets, and papers, binders and random flyers strewn about in shreds. Was that a Guitar case poking through? She disregarded this, as the packet she tossed disassembled mid-flight and let loose a blizzard across the back window of stationary which effectively added another layer of files to her back-seat, with nothing more than a single comment.

"Everything in order."

A wave to the passenger side door as she looked to the Judge.

"I'll take you to Zee Pita. Nice little Greek place in Port Jeff, not a long drive- Oh, and you're not allowed to pay. Period. Get that silly little notion out of your head.
Nova Hope

Alfred smiled at the woman’s eccentricies. Taking a seat in the passenger side he grinned as he attached the seat belt.
“Well Nanoo I don’t know if my upbringing could allow that.” Pausing for a moment to cock his head to the side he looked her up and down, “but I’m sure in the interests of international diplomacy I can swallow my pride just this once.” As the vehicle began to move he spoke slightly aloft, as if the conversation was inconsequential.
“We can have lunch first and then we can get on to what ever it is you have planned, of course after that I’ll have to ask some questions to determine the legitimacy of your government, for trading purposes of course.” His eyes moved to look at her while keeping his head forward. Hopefully this country fits the profile, we could use some more trading partners.

"Well, if you have questions, you have plenty of time to ask. The restaurant is a few blocks off.. And traffic will be killer."

Stopping at the Airport exit, she looked left, looked right, then gunned it and the car jumped ahead. The needle climbed quickly from Twenty to Forty, then Fifty, then Seventy, then Ninety... And so forth, as the BMW barreled down the road.

"I'll take the Parkway." A glance spared to the Judge. "Buckle up please, we have high safety standards."

As she ran a red light, swerved to the left in the intersection, and shot through into the left lane as two Cabs collided behind her. The car lurched again as the needle climbed steadily higher. Then the car seemed to suddenly just, swivel, gliding sideways along the road until the gas was floored and it shot forward again onto a single lane road, barely missing a Stop Sign.

The parkways were always winding, and seemed to go nowhere, but the scenery was wonderful. This one meandered through St. Joseph's Park, a densely packed woodland of Birch and Maple. The Lilacs here were brilliant this season. The car steadied at an even One-Twenty, as Nanoo smiled and eased a bit. "You're going to love this place I tell you."

"So what is Nowa Hope looking for in a trading partner? The Federation boasts a huge range of Agricultural Fields down south. Last shipments of crops to the North included Cocaine, Sugar Cane, and Cocoa I believe. I'm pretty sure its-" Swerve as the road doubled back on itself, car bobbing over either way. "-Folder Four Two Four. Yes, you might want to look at that File if you're interested in our Cash Crops. It's the most recent Inventory taken. Has been a great growing season so far."

"I think it's... in the backseat..."
Nova Hope
07-11-2004, 16:47
The judge looked warily about as the car accelerated at velocities that would have been pure suicide to drive in any Noviet city. When she prompted him for his seatbelt he was already trying to put the buckle in the small slot, his body tense as they whipped about the parkway. Gripping the dash Alfred managed to keep his exterior cool, though the straight arm and tension was visible to anyone who looked.

"So what is Nowa Hope looking for in a trading partner? The Federation boasts a huge range of Agricultural Fields down south. Last shipments of crops to the North included Cocaine, Sugar Cane, and Cocoa I believe. I'm pretty sure its Folder Four Two Four. Yes, you might want to look at that File if you're interested in our Cash Crops. It's the most recent Inventory taken. Has been a great growing season so far. "

Alfred shook his head at the professional attitude of the maniac of a driver.
“Uh, well Nanoo I’m not here so much to determine the economics of trading with you. I’m here more to deicide the morality of trading with you, I’ll look at the economics later. You see we have had no real contact with you and we just want to make sure that we hold some common cultural understandings, not so much on everyday issues or religion, but on how your everyday citizen is treated by the authorities.” Another wild swerve made the judge straighten a little more in his seat.
“But yes cash crops would be good. Nova Hope is very industrialized and is looking for many raw goods. The domestic market is also looking for more culturally relevant things, unique styles and what have you. The Noviet market does have a very rabid taste for foreign culture.”

"Ah. Morality. If it's that, then there's one thing I ask you to remember."

Swerve. The car started gliding sideways again, and launched over a hill into the Park. Contrary from stopping, Nanoo floored it. The speedometer cracked. Or was that something else? The BMW crashed through densely packed underbrush, and snapped branches as it catapult through the wood, spinning before gaining it's bearing and following a straight line. Although it could be comparable to a straight line a drunk would walk, it was straight no less! It crested a hill, and was now falling with style as all that they could see was sky, as it let out over the Township of Port Jeff. Boom, as it crashed back to earth, the ceiling the floor and the floor the ceilng. A cracking, clashing, and a few more seconds of a hoarse scraping sound as it slid across the road they had landed on. A small lurch, and they stopped.

"You have to keep an open mind, and remember that it's all about perspective."

The airbag deployed.

Alfred breathed slowly, trying to comprehend the rollercoaster that he’d just unwittingly rode. With one hard and haggard breath he turned to Nanoo and spoke, his composure regained.
“Your country obviously has politically stability, so that part of the equation is solved. The second question is why it is stable.” Alfred paused to consider his next words carefully, wanting to educate and not offend.
“For the purposes of this equation there are only two ways that a country can be politically stable. Fear of reprisal or a want to contribute. The latter grants immediate acceptance and I’ll recommend trade with Fodmodmadtol. Should it be the former I need to determine the type of reprisal they fear. If its shame, dishonour or public ostracizing then that’s considered acceptable, as is as the fear of material loss. However should a citizen’s entire reason for not being a dissident is fear of imprisonment, corporal punishment or capital punishment then a definite red flag is raised.” Watching her face Alfred wondered if he’d stepped in it, proverbially. Looking outside he off handed, I take it we’re here. Shall we eat?”

Nanoo dug in with her nails and popped the airbag. For the next few seconds, she just sat there in the car panting. She began to stroke her fingers through her hair to fix the obvious dishevelment, then stopped when she realized she was upside down. Small smile to herself.

"I don't think it's fear. They run themselves really. The Administration is just a Figurehead created for International Musings."

Click, and Nanoo fell to the ceiling as the seat belt was undone. She then proceeded to wrench herself out through the shattered windshield.

"Perfect parking though."

A clear outline of Fodmodmadtol as a Nation could be determined from a simple meal at Z-Pita, though, so there was no need to elaborate on the Administration yet.

"You can see for yourself over the meal."

(OOC: Thanks for the TG, I appreciated knowing that you didn’t die or anything :P But seriously there’s no problems here. I understand that this time of year is busy and RL takes precedence over this.)

Alfred looked into the back of the car, better understanding now the reason for the dishevelment of the filing. Watching the air bag slowly deflate as he pressed down on it he thought momentarily. Perhaps this nation isn’t as, stable, as once thought.

Sliding out through the passenger side window, which had crumpled from the inverted impact, Alfred stood on the street brushing his leather jacket with the backs of his fingers; trying not to cut himself on the bits of glass as he did so. Stretching to ensure everything worked he seemed fine, but for a stiff neck.
“Well Nanoo, if you’d lead the way I’d like a coffee as a stiff drink would be inappropriate on the job.”

A few quick brushes of her blouse to discard any shard of debris, and Nanoo trotted over to the Judge, Smile ever present.

"Non alcoholic? Ha! We'll find you something if we must."

Nanoo took the Judges arm, and settled herself with walking him towards the restaurant that their ever so lovely parking job placed them in front of. A small bell rang as the crossed through in the door.

It was a stuffy little place, quaint in it's smallness. Dimly lit by a single, slowly moving, ceiling fan. It gave off a sense of coziness. The plaster walls were decorated with wreaths of olive branches fit with bells at the vertex of the designs, brick making itself known where the walls cracked, the creaky floor made of lacquered wooden planks. Inside only four worn tables fit, each catering to a pair each. Only a pair each. Currently there was a full house, the people stuffing themselves to the utmost on voluptuously scented food while enjoying loud conversation. Chicken, Pork, Fish, and of course, the Lamb, could tempt the senses into sin.

An exiting couple brushed past them, the bell ringing as they crossed through out the door. Nanoo nodded torwards the now vacant table.

"I believe that's our table, Judge. Prepare to witness the wonders of the Fodian economy."
Nova Hope
22-12-2004, 06:03
The judge took in the scene calmly enough. It didn’t seem to be telling in of itself. Alfred more preferred to let the experience as a whole, and not the first impression, to do the telling. Now, his curiosity piped by Nanoo’s statement, he waited to be impressed by the economy.

Nanoo folded her hands politely as she sat.

"We're Communal, or Communist if you will. We agree to this. Correct? Drafted in our constitution and all. Well. As long as I myself have reached the Quota for contribution to the Fodian State, I can withdraw any resources I please from the Economy. There is a ceiling to this, yet anyone who reaches Quota needn't worry of it. What's great about our Welfare is that if you don't reach Quota, you're not allowd to withdraw from the Economy. It's really Anti-Welfare if you think of it."

"What does this mean in a restaurant? Well... I need our waitress."

A wave to the waitress loitering in the back of the room, and now they had service.

"Nanoo Laeta... My ID is MOU Zero Zero Two thousand. Dining with a Guest."

She turned with a smile to the Judge.

"Order anything you wish. As long as a Citizen has their ID, and has met Quota, everything is available to them. You're a Guest, so it will be Registered under my ID."

The waitress placed two menus onto the table.

"Now, what will you be having?"

Alfred listened with interest. Socialistic tendencies were not deal breakers. After all congress had hiked the tax while the House of Commons were dumping freedoms; his own country would be a hypocrite should he decry this economic planning out right.

Looking over the menu to see what the locale offered up to his palate he lamented over the top of the menu.
“I guess the question becomes who sets the quotas for whom, and is this done without accountability or popular recourse?”
Fodmodmadtol
16-01-2005, 02:05
"Technically, The Ministry of Commerce sets the Quota. The Citizens decide upon the Quota, and the Ministry enforces it. It can go to hell though in some Districts, as it's per District."

Deciding on what she would have, Nanoo set down the menu.

"There are two Government Agencies you can register with. District Collectivist, or Federal Communal. As of now though, it's mandatory to register with both. District is tuned for the Locale, Federal tuned for the Federation. You could forgoe registration with either, although then technically you would no longer be a Citizen..."

Roll of the eyes.

"I suggest the Carne Chijibe."

Smiling Alfred took the advice of his hostess and ordered the Carne Chi jibe and a coffee. The economic system that was being offered so far was not a bad one, in theory. As long as some measure of governmental benevolence could be perceived the president would be able to spin the involvement.
“So in theory registration is not mandatory; there is merely an extravagant penalty lumped onto the hold outs.” Pondering this he looked across the table at the woman. “To be honest the economic distribution seems to be no better or worse than some of our other trading partners. Really it comes down to how many personal privileges can a private citizen when patronage works against him, as we know it happens. Then we might be able to get onto the happier subject of seeing what you had in mind for trade witg my country.”

"You mean, Personal Freedoms? There's no restriction on them whatsoever, in actuallity. If you remeber the former United States of America, when they existed they had a Justice system in which order was derived from a 'Your rights end, where my rights begin,' sort of philosophy. The only way in which One's Freedoms are ever to be intruded upon are when another brings it to the Courts that their Right to Life has been violated. The whole of The Justice is based on The Right to Life. If one feels they've been wronged, they come to the Courts and we see what we can do."

A nod to the waitress as she set down their dishes and mugs.

"Carne Chijibe is a really spicy Chilli... You up for spicy? Made of an assortment of things. Origins from the Southern Districts from South America. Damned tasty."

The Judge chuckled at this.
“Ma’am, my family has been living in New Houston for about eight generations, spicy isn’t a flavor it’s a food group.” Sampling his food the man ate silently for a moment, enjoying the food. Pausing his consumption for a moment he smiled and looked up at the woman.
“Well I guess the best way to see what this country’s about is to get out and see it. After lunch I assume you have a couple of places you wanted to show me?”

"Mmm... And to think I was prepared for a day of economics! I'm glad to see that the Novation Administration is interested in other things than money."

Nanoo began to gorge on zee chili, eating as fast as to think one might take it away from her. For the next few minutes she was completely focused on only one thing, and that was her food. Oh, what a weakness she had for food. In this atmosphere? Her favorite dish? Ha! Not a chance she would rest until every ounce of Carne Chijibe was consumed.

And so it was.

She delicately dabbed the corners of her mouth with a napkin, and set it in her plate in an extremely lady like manner, to resume all politeness as a host.

"And to think that there was ever a controversy over abortion. With food this good... Sfft."

She studied the quizzical look on the Judge, before realizing the obvious.

"Oh, of course! You're not a native. You wouldn't know what was in that."

And so Nanoo leaned over the table, as if to express the secret ingredient in a family recipe long held to her kin.

"Fetus, you know? Abortion aftermath."

She leaned back casually, and took a deep gulp from her mug, and began to pick through the bread basket.

"Bread?"

The judge’s eyes went wide at that comment. Shake his head in the negative he stood asking for the bathroom. Quickly loping into the room he locked the door and heaved over the toilet for a bit. Unable to purge the Carne Chijibe he wiped the sides of his mouth and knelt on the floor in prayer.
“Lord give me strength. I know that I am forbidden to perform or partake in an abortion but allow me to see these people as your people, exercise their gifts of choice. It is not my place to judge them, and comment on their speck, as you dearly know I have a log in my own eye.”

Standing and popping a mint into his mouth the judge cleaned himself off and exhaled, calming himself. Looking in the mirror he adjusted some of his hair that had fallen astray.

Once back out in the restaurant Alfred moved back to the table casually, trying to eye up the other tables, seeing who was eating what. Sitting back in his chair Alfred nodded to Nanoo.
“No, economics are discussed only after we’ve decided that we find trade to be a generally good idea. As for the administration seeing it that way, the President does. As for the house and the congress, that’s anyone’s guess.” Clearing his throat again he tasted the meal. Sucking again at the mint he looked Nanoo in the eye, to see if she was laughing, maliciously or not.
“And while I’m sure it won’t be the most interesting of topics we will have to discuss you labeling and shipping practices while I am here I think.”

Blink. Innocent smile.

"I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?"

Eyes cast down to the table, as if ashamed of insulting her guest.

"Well, we can finish eating then if you like. If you're finished, that is. Waste not want not, after all. I have that motto plastered all over the office..."

A timid laugh, eyeing the Judge up to see if he was alright.

"Labelling practices? If it can ease your mind a bit, Fod is renowned for its shipping of goods. The whole system has OCD, almost. Nothing gets by them, and everything has specifics typed up somewhere in a database. Some products are even afforded a specification by genetic code, if its an organic that is. Well, you mentioned the general mood of the Citizen? The park then? I have determined places for every aspect of business a client is interested in... OCD, yes?"

Alfred looked at the woman drop her chin. Reaching over he put the underside of her chin on his index finger, cupping it with the thumb he smiled as he brought her eyes back up to his warm gaze.
“No, you’ve been a perfect host.”

“OCD? I’m sorry I’m not familiar with that acronym; unless you mean obsessive compulsive disorder.

“As for the park, where ever you think is appropriate.”

Nanoo had to chuckle.

"Well you see, Judge... When I say OCD, I mean OCD. The entire Administration, if embodied in one person, would be a Paranoid Schizophrenic with Obssessive Compulsive Disorder.

I'm sorry if you were offended by the food, though."

Nanoo motioned to the waitress opposite their table, and rose from her chair.

"To the park, then."

The judge waves his hand dismissively.
“Bah. It is my own fault for not inquiring. Here in your country the fault is mine. It is the reason I brought up the labeling procedures, I just wanted to avoid and cultural misunderstandings.”

Rising with her he extended his arm, to walk linked at the elbow. With her hand resting in the crook of his arm he placed his other hand over top of it in, what he hoped, was a reassuring manner.
“Now my dear, if you would lead on.”

"Any who. The Administration strongly supports and encourages any forms of art. We're deeply cultured, and appreciate the more refined forms of entertainment. Very formal."

As they traveled down the sidewalk, sounds of the violin panned through the air. Nanoo smiled, and nodded towards the corner ahead. Standing there was a violinist, decked out in a white on white tuxedo, no tie, grinding feverishly into his instrument. A bassist stood beside him, chatting softly with a singer frocked in an ornate eighteenth century dress of absurd proportions.

"Right there, that trio is subsidized by the Administration. We house them, feed them, and take care of what they need. In return, they play and sing. We do everything to promote this sort of thing. The park hosts an entire pit orchestra... They have three sopranos and a tenor in Town Square rendering Ave Maria. This is only a small Township, of course. In the big cities, it's just amazing."

Her eyes lingered on the violinist for a few moments before nudging The Judge on his way.
