ooc: Having taken to heart the comments of many older and more powerful nations, I am making this move.

ic: The elderly statesman and Premier, Ernesto Sanchez, has made his attempt to bring stability to the world stage. In a widely unexpected but generally welcome development, he has called for the creation of an 'Atlantis Pact'.

The worlds face has been desecrated by war after war, he announced, in an International adress, And I know what war can do. Whole nations have vanished, billions massacred as the cream of the futures youth lie dead in the fields of martrys. I hate war. I hate war more than any individual or country, and it fills me with rage when I see civilian lives cruelly cast aside by the most vile construction ever concieved by man.

I cannot offer a true solution to this problem. I will, however, do what I can. Long ago, in an age only refered to in myth and tale, the city of Atlantis was the haven of enlightenment and truth, where there were no wars or violence, and the populance lived in security and peace. Though the waves may long ago have claimed this mythical city, its ideal lives on, I today I raise Atlantis from the waves.

Arise! Arise great city of light, and loose your confines of walls and streets, and instead become an Atlantis of the world, an Atlantis within mens hearts. I call upon all national leaders to join the Atlantis Pact, and together we can try and bring some stability to this world.

Intiallly the audience was stunned, but slowly broke into wild and raptuous applause. Journalists frantically fled the hall in order to file the story, and within an hour everyone in Momanguise had heard the news.

So what is the Atlantis Pact?

The Atlantis Pact is not an alliance, it is an organisation devoted to peace. We hope to broker non-aggression pacts between our members, and as the Pacts prestige grows, we hope to be recognised as a impartial body for mediating international disputes.

So there will be no use of force by the Atlantis Pact?

At times, the pact may issue recogmendations for use of force to offset imperialistic invasions. However there is no obligation.

Who makes the decisions?

The Pact will be a democratic organisation. All incidents will be debated throughly, and the outcome and decision of the Pact voted upon by all members.

So who is eligible?

Everyone! The Pact aims to gain as much influence as possible and so does not discriminate against dictatorships, democracys, free market or socialist economys. Every nation may join the pact.

Do we get free cake?

Yes, it's on the table.

The aim of the pact is, initially, to forge peaceful relations. However we aim to expand our influence and prestige to the point where we are seen the natural mediators of international disputes. This alliance is created solely to build and maintain peace.

what are the procedings for joining this pact?

You post something along the lines of:

I would like to join this pact.

Inclusion is the watchword here.

The Senate has voted in favour of this pact to support peace

We thank you for your support, a proper headquarters (ie. a forum) will be set up soon for the pact. We will contact you as soon as this is constructed.

The Pact does not support violent coups or unlawful overthrowing of Governments. So until the state of Sephrioth approaches us with an offer, we must put this application on hold.

Seph, this is not a military alliance. There is no (and I repeat no) military elements. Nations may be 'blacklisted' or recomendations issued, but there is no talk of the pact being used for military means. So I am sorry, but you will have to look elsewere.

The Dominion of Raymzonia wishes to join. This Dominion recognizes the debilitating effects of war among nations and would like to congratulate the Pact and its members for endorsing peaceful resolutions to conflict.

The High Lord Minister of Foreign Affairs is attending, but is diabetic, and so will refrain from the cake. He is accompanied by Templar agents who carry sugar-free cookies for such occasions. He gives gracious thanks for the offer, though.

I'm sure it will, however all rebellions cost a lot of money due to damage of infrastructure, legal issues, ammunition, public relations etc. Besides, I'd like to keep this thread for recruiting.

The Senate of the Neutral Republic of Aeruillin, having recently amended the nation's Constitution to oppose all external as well as domestic conflict - in accordance with the nation's creed of neutrality - perceives the wisdom in such an alliance [plus, it unanimously agrees that the name sounds utterly cool]. Therefore, it too wishes to sign the membership terms of the Atlantis Pact.

You might also like to take the time to add entries for each of your own nations (you can copy the format from one of the nations already done). :)

The nations of Tir-Kedron and Isochronous appear to no longer exist or something. If they do, there must be a misspelling somewhere.

Also, it appears that the nation of Vistadin has requested to join, but has never received a response...
