Just starting the thread. If you know what this is about thats cool, if you don't please don't bother posting.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Rules for region will be posted sometime tonight
WWII Council of Clan

Rules
1.
any region is open to be claimed

Currently the CoC claim is. Dutch East Indies, New Britain, New Guinea, Solomons, New Zealand and Australia

2. Technology. Any 1944 and below tech is allowed to be used(if it existed at least in the prototype phase by 44 than you can use it)
Now you can't mix Allied with Axis Tech.

No Ju-87's being escorted by P-38's

But you can have say Polish Infantry firing M-1 Garands supported by T-34's and Hurricanes.

3. Administration. I will administer these RP's, my intent is to leave well alone unless you really went off the deep end. (Germany developing F-15's). Also i know a lot about WWII tactics, and general stats on tanks, aircraft and ships.

4. Alliances. Just because you based your nation off of japan militarily or a japan/Hungary Mix doesn't mean you have to fight who uses american or british equipment. You can ally with england and fight america together. It doesn't really matter. And just because you picked a certain region doesn't mean you have to use that regions tech. (if your region is say germany you can use american equipment as long as you use allied tech)

5. Nuclear weapons. Sorry, they don't exist, you can't finish building one or even start development. This will save a lot of headache.

6. Status of world politics. There is no war or alliances at this point, those will be built hopefully in this thread or privately. pretty much at this stage no one is ready for a war. There is no United Nations yet, you can create one if you'd like but you don't have to. Now you can just build and get ready for inevitable world conflict.

Edit:
7. Geneva convention and rules of war don't exist these must be worked out by involved nations.

Update

8. Populations are not set by Nationstates, I'll set a population for you depending on what region and how powerful you want to be.

right now my population is 270 million. Is that historically accurate for the territory i hold. I don't know, don't really care either

Ed would be 280 million

Dubelco would be about 195 Million

Manarth 110 Million

MadderMike 500-700 million, we have to talk about that. TG me

HO, well i don't where you've chosen yet. If your bound and determined to be a great lakes island 650,000

9. 1 day= 1 day. And your population will not signifigantly rise or fall during this RP, however long it lasts. If by chance it lasts over a year then we shall deal with pop at another time. The only way to raise your pop is to expand into colonies or whatever. This doesn't have to be a traditional Europe based world. You can be based in Russia and colonize Portugal or even Canada. It all depends on how things fall and who has an issue with you being there. Hence probably our first conflict.

10. if you do not explicitly claim the territory, you don't have it and either it will be an NPC that i set up or it will be unclaimed land. Depends on where it is and how big it is.

The way things are you can go ahead and build your militaries. just keep in mind the tech you are using and build accordinly, oh and only Allied Tech has Radar at this point.

Edit: certain structures still haven't been built in the form of major Waterways. The Suez and Panama Canals aren't in existence right now, you want to build them, be my guest but someone might have an issue with you doing so. So the only way to go Atlantic to Pacific is the Straights of Magellan and the only way to go from Atlantic to Indian is the Cape of Good Hope.

Government is an Absolute Monarchy headed by a Supreme Rajah. Religion is varied mainly Buddism, caste system and Satanism. The military is well trained, experienced, poorly armed, and many units are headed up by various Princes, Rajahs other lessor royalty. Some excellent commanders others idiots:) Smallish navy, huge army, growing airforce but the pilots receive virtually no training - Fly or Crash - . Manufacturing base is huge, capable of producing mass quantities with no quality what-so-ever. Small pockets of excellent workmanship do exist but they are the exception.

It was two days before Cardinal Valonius Retori was found dead of a heart attack, but few were supprised to see his passing. The old man had given council as Chief Assistant to three generations of Emperors (and some rumors in the imperial courts say he sired the latest one, 26 year old Quintus Flacci, who's assumed Imperial name bespoke his honor for the man). The supprise was the Emperor's vision the night of his demise.

In the Emperor's meditation, his father, the late Emperor Quoqous Meridius Flacci appeared to him, and spoke, telling praises of the deceased Cardinal. The Emperor listened to the stories, which he considered the most touching Eulogy for a man ever written. His father went on is some length, and stopped suddenly. His incorporeal body twisted as though listening to a voice unheard. He bade his son to rise, and bowed low to his child.

"Blessed are you, Emperor Valonius! Blessed shall be your name, and the name of your first born, Tacitus! For while I was blessed with many lands, and bounty famed the world over, so it shall be for your son, tenfold! Seek the council of the third son of the third son, of our dear late Cardinal. It is through him that you will find the path that you seak."

At that the Emperor returned to the world of the living, his father's last words ringing across the void... "The Prophet will bless your name above all others!"

He commanded the day, October the 10th to be set asside in memory of the past, and in celebration of the future, and then called in the children of the late Cardinal to the Imperial palace at Cape Town. He spoke in length of the vision, and bade the third son of the third son, a Deacon named Claritus Retori, a man of only 24 years, to come foward. He blessed him and said to those gathered: "This man shall become my Chief Assistant. The Prophet shall work through him as He works through me. Obey him, as you obeyed his grandfather, for what he commands is what I wish to be done."

And with that, a new dawn began over the Holy Empire of Manarth, the sun covered by clouds. But later in the day, towards noon, the sky cleared up, and the omen readers and wise men of the city took it to be a briliant sign of success, as the new Chief Assistant and his liege began to discuss the new course for the Empire.

It is the first gathering of the Emperor's Assistants since the death of Cardinal Valonius Retori. The other Cardinals can sence the change that is in the air. Never has the birthright of the Cardinalship been so carelessly disreguarded by the Prophet, and his vessel on earth, the Emperor.

The meeting was to be held at the Swaziland Estate of the Mercuti Family, who's patriarch, Cardinal Petroculus, was the Emperor's Assistant of Domestic Affairs. Already the Spiritual Assistant, the anchient Mathius Quinti had arrived, steadfastly walking there under his own power with the help of a cane, and two servants. Also present was the Cardinal Admiral Carlus Meridi, who had spent the night after a fitful negotiation with Petroculus over the sale of his firstborn daughter to Carlus's second born son.

"It is good to be amoung friends..." Cardinal Mathius began, bowing low to his peers. "Though I admit I know little of this new Cardinal. If he is anything like his grandfather, we should have bountiful times ahead of us."

Petroculus added: "My son, Tacitus, has heard a little about him, and has told what little he knows to me. He is by all rights a smart man, who has attended schooling in both Dubelco and Council of Clan. Although all the rest my son knows is that he was quite vocal about the need for our armies to expand outward and become a colonial power."

Carlus continued: "I remember a large number speaking on it a year ago, but his grandfather always refused to get us involved in colonial affairs. I wonder why the Prophet wishes us to expand outward now."

Then they waited, and soon the others had arrived, the Emperor and his uncle, Sextus Flacci who was the Emperor's Assistant for Foreign Affiars, arriving last.

OOC: More on the meeting to be told later tonight.

The new Cardinal opened the meeting, the Emperor having defered to him. "My grandfather had planned much in the years before his death, but the Emperor and I agree that it is not enough. All of you know, I'm sure, our plans to settle on the tip of Antarctica, south of the Incan and Argantinian Kingdoms."

He paused and motioned at the map, hand drawn in the 15th century as a Mercuti family heirloom. "But we would still lack some things in doing so, namely oil and manpower. I know we could easily supply the people, but not volenterily, and without the oil, resupplying it would be expensive, not to mention difficult."

He moved his finger up and right, until it landed on the sea coast of Nigeria. "Here lies a weak people, who we would be able to subject with relative ease. Their neibors are barely able to field a modern army and are too busy fighting them to care if we finish what they started. We can take them, and use their military as the initial colonists of our Antarctican territory.

"But first, we need to take them over. Here's what I need from each of you..."

The continued discussion on the subject long into the night. The next day, the 11th of October, orders were relayed to the HES Mozambique, and several other ships...

::At an emergency war council session the leader of the Special Services (SS)
Kurt Kazinsky addresses PM Wallace::

Sir our plan worked well, today a radio broadcast went out condeming the Indo-Chinese Troops. We must act upon this soon to keep the public aware of it. We must attack Indo-China, the public is screaming for blood and we shall give it to them, right now we have a task force ready to land 2 full Corps of marines at Saigon and our B-24 bombers are in reach of Singapore. The Indo-Chinese airforce is pathetic, it uses open cockpit 1930's aluminum bi-planes, they can't even reach our bombers altitude let alone shoot them down. The time to strike is now before the public starts asking questions.

PM Wallace: What of the Indo-Chinese Fleet?

Minister of the Navy: Pathetic at best, they are starting a program to turn them into a blue water force, but at best they have completed one Battleship of the George V class and one Hood Class Cruiser. they have several smaller auxilirey ships Light cruisers and destroyers, but they shouldn't be too much of a problem.

PM Wallace: Army?

Minister of Defense: Mostly light infantry with rifles, no mechanized or para forces to speak of. There will be a lot of jungle fighting but we have this substance known as Napalm that can deal with that.

PM Wallace: Foreign intervention?

Minister of Foreign Affairs: There are only two nations that can interfere, MadderMike and Japan, and I honestly don't see MadderMike doing anything it is not in their interest because regardless of how this war turns out we won't be sharing a border with them.

And Japan well, they may do something but we will take the Phillipines from them if they do

PM: Excellant I shall inform Her Majesty we are about to gain some very pretty land with interesting animals. Good Day Gentleman. Send out the orders and launch the Airstrike immediately.

::At an Airbase in Western Borneo 120 B-24 Bombers and 100 P-38 Lightnings fuel up on the runways. They take to the sky soon afterwards and are over Singapore in 3 Hours. At an altitude of 17,000 feet the bombers come over the city, Flak Bursts appear all around the mass formation but they are ineffectual since this city is ill-prepared for a bomber strike at altitude. 2 dozen Biplanes rise out to intercept the bombers but are unable to reach an altitude that would put them in gun range. The P-38 Pilots being fighter Pilots cannot resist the easy prey, as the bombs begin to fall on the Docks and railways around singapore as well as the Coastal Defense guns the P-38's dive right into the 24 hapless Bi-Planes the fighters mix it up and in the end the casualties are light 2 P-38's suffer some damage and must return home, one is shot down while all 24 Indo-Chinese aircraft are swatted from the SKy::

::The Indo-Chinese Navy Battleship ICS Hope is out on manevers in the South China Sea. It is spotted by a CoC PBY and reported back to High Command who dispatch Taskforce 4 out to deal with it.

The HMRS Ark Royal, HMRS Sword, HMRS Mace , 4 Light Cruisers, 3 Destroyers and the HMRS Brisbane who consist of the task force spot it with their own SBD Dauntless Scouts. And Airstrike of 15 Torpedo Aircraft, 23 Dive Bombers and 16 F-4U Corsairs (Going in for Skip-bombing attacks) covered by 12 F-4U's Go at the enemy fleet. Catching the ICS Hope by suprise. The Dive Bombers nose in on the group swarm in on the 3 Destroyer Escorts, Hitting all 3 with 8 Direct Hits, 3 Near Misses and the rest Missing. All 3 Destroyers start to burn though they did bring down 2 Divebombers with Anti-Aircraft fire. The Corsairs go in at low level nearing 400mph and pull up slightly as they near the Hope the bombs hit the water 75 feet from the port side of the Battlewagon and Skip up into her scoring 4 hits at the waterlline, 2 on her No #2 forward Battery, and 4 on her side the fighters skim over top of her and 3 are brought down by anti-aircraft fire. The Hope starts maneuviring fiercely so that she can attempt to escape, she is slowed down by the 2 gaping holes near her waterline and she begins to list. the Torpedo bombers come down in 3 groups of 5 and launch torpedos into her port side. 7 Total hit, while 1 Torpedo Bomber is knocked down. The Hope is listing heavily to starboard and the crew begins to abandon ship as she turns over and capsizes. The Fighter Cover not being able to resist flys down near the waves and along with the other aircraft they begin to strafe with their .30 cal, .50 cal and 20mm cannon fire on the Indo-chinese Sailors floating in the wavecs from the four ships. They pass until they are all nearly out of ammunition and turn around and fly back.::

::The Prime Minister makes a speech over the radio::

Fellow Citizens of the Clans, last night a most grievous attack happened upon one of our border village with the Indo-Chinese in Borneo. They killed one of our post masters spent an hour raping a woman in an alley and then proceeded to rob the bank killing 2 policemen in the process. They escaped back to Indo-China. The Indo-Chinese denied this even happened when i spoke to them this morning, suffice to say we have struck Singapore hard with our bombers and I was just informed we just sank the Flagship of the Indo-Chinese Navy. We must not ever let this happen again, we need living room to expand nation, so that a travesty like this can never happen again. Her Majesty Queen Tammi IX has declared War Upon the Indo-Chinese.

Cardinal Sextus Flacci: Okay everyone, liisten up. Congo has agreed to aid us in our war with Nigeria, in exchange for the territory known as Central African Republic. We can move our forces over their territory as needed, and they will supply their 3rd and 4th divisions to our effort.

Cardinal General Urbus Decimi: Very good, we have the forces in place now to take the area, so I think we should use the Congo troops as occupies for the CAR. I have begun the task of preping our soldiers, but we will need more then our current active army if we are to be sucessful in the long run. I propose extending the required age for military service, and beginning a continuous draft. We can use the Nigerians in our industry once we conquer them, and we can make up the slack now with women workers.

Cardinal Admiral Carlus Meridi: That would work well, though one thing we despirately need is more up to date naval ships. Already our navy is falling behind some of the larger nations, such as Dubelco and CoC. We need a more ambitious Battleship program.

Cardinal Claritus Retori: Very well, we shall think over these things, but first I want to know the full plans for the invasion of Nigeria.

Cardinal General Urbus Decimi: The plan is very simple, we are going to move our submarines into possition in the Nigerian waters, and set them to sinking everything in sight. The Admiral can tell you more of that, but suffice it to say, the Nigerians will be looking in that direction.

Cardinal Sextus Flacci: Besides that, the Nigerians will be occupied in the north with their hated neibors, the Algerians. We have agreed to provide them with Mali for thier participation in this war.

Cardinal General Urbus Decimi: The Nigerians have about 8 Divisions of active combat troops, and several more in reserve. We can expect most of them to be on the South, at the coast, or in Mali against their northern border. Our forces hit CAR hard, and push north and west toward Niger. Once we reach there, we've cut their forces in two, and can force a surrender.

Cardinal Admiral Carlus Meridi: During this time our navy will be distracting their forces in the south. We will have our sub squadrons here and here (he points to the map) harassing their shipping and fishing boats, while our cruser squadron and battleships move through here (he points to Congo territorial waters) to get into possition for the final blow. Their navy has no more than 5 Destroyes, and various smaller craft, so the attack should be easy. Soldier Thomus Horati wondered when the train ride would stop. His Regiment had been traveling by rail ever since the order came late yesterday to prepare for combat opperations against Nigeria. The stuffy compartments ment for moving livestock now held most of his platoon.

Suddenly, the train stopped, throwing men and equipment around. Horati scrambled to his feet, hoisting his light machine gun up out of the dirty straw. His platoon leader, Deacon Doritri opened the locked door and called out "Okay, we're moving out on foot, only 5 kilometeres to the border! Look alive!"

The soldiers deployed, following their regiment into possition along the main battle line. Horati could just barely overhear his Deacon talking with the Arch Deacon of the Company. "You mean we're short an entire armored division?" "Yes, their train derailed just into the congo, they're comming on foot, but we have our orders to carry on irreguardless."

The Deacon cried out once more: "May the Prophet protect each and every one of you as you do your swarn duty! May he bless our army as we destroy the heathen Nigerians! Foward! Fireteams 1 and 4 on the sides, keep E and G companies in sight at all times! Machinegunners hold fire unless we run into moderate resistance."

Embassador Father Claritus Quinti: How interesting, the two main powers of this region threatening war...

Arch Deacon Halvarius Quinti (head of security): So, what should we do cousin? Has Cardinal Flacci given us an order as of yet?

Father Quinti: He has, cousin. We would have much to lose if the Ottomans win, as they have always been eyeing Egypt's Nile as a prize. It is our Emperor's new policy that the African continent belongs to him by holy decree, and that none other than we or the lesser kings he controls may control any part of it. These Musselmen in the Ottomans would hamper his plans if they gained any additional strength.

Arch Deacon Quinti: So what should we do, cousin?

Father Quinti: I will try to arrange a meeting with the MadderMikian Rajah, or one of the lesser princes who holds his confidence. When I am successful, we will pledge our support to his cause. We have plenty of raw materials to supply their industry, though that should not be so much of a problem to them, what they will need is naval support in the Mediterranian, I believe. If we can supply that, the Ottomans can not hope to hold the coasts.

Arch Deacon Quinti: And what will we get from this?

Father Quinti: Mearly the peace of mind, knowing the Madders will not interfer in Africa. And perhapse an oil treaty with them, we can't let our ships and tanks starve from want of oil.

The submarines of the offensive force had arrived at the edge of Nigerian waters. Splitting up into groups of two, they began looking for Nigerian warships and civilian vessels. Upon spotting some of the latter, the first sub in the two man groups open fire, hitting the merchant or fishing vessel amid ship and sinking it quickly.

Soon, Destroyers and Patrol boats, the former only being five in number in the entire Nigerian fleet, arive on the seen and begin looking franticly for the subs. The I-3 is unfortunatley spotted, having been paired with the I-15. As the I-15 was running low in order to avoid one of the nearby destroyers, the I-3 had been spotted by a patrol craft, which radio'd it's possition to a torpedo aircraft flying overhead. While the I-3 sunk the patrol craft, the torpedo plane managed to score a glancing blow to the aft of the I-3, causing it to take on water and withdrawl at a very slow speed.

After a while of hunting, the submarines surfaced and speed off towards the south with the destroyers still following behind. Unknown to the destroyers, the remainder of the Manarthian fleet awaited there, to pounce on the unsuspecting craft.

****MadderMike Declares War on the Ottoman Empire****

In the first action of the war 250 MadderMikian JU-88 bombers line up to take off from the newly constructed airfield to the south of Mecca. The first 25 take off without incident. The next two planes crash on take-off. This snarls the take-off order and the remaining planes take off in a haphazard manner. soon there is a long line of bombers stretching almost 10 miles they are slowly clumping into some semblance of order but it is a very poorly organized flight.

In the meantime 100 ME-109s take off from the fighter base to the north of the Mecca base. The ME-109s are more difficult to fly and almost 1 in 5 has problems getting airborne. The final tally is 81 fighters in the air moving to intercept the bombers and provide cover.

The target is the large airfield at Amman Jordan. The secondary target is the army base to the south of Jerusalem, Palestine.

The Ottoman Empire declares war on Manarth and MadderMike

In the airbase at Amman Jordan Colonel Ozan Zanzeph has just told his staff the news about war with Manarth and MadderMike. He gathers his squadron leaders and they begin to discuss the situation. The main problem being discussed is the lack of hanger space, lack of apron space, all of the fighters are clustered in one area and the bombers are lined up in a row in the sand. This causes a problem as each bomber must be pulled out of the sand to get back on the taxiways and runways.

They are further hampered by the dismal performance of the radios. Instead of buying them from the Japanese the Sultan insisted on manufacturing them in factories in the western part of Iran. The quality is poor, the workmanship is absymal and they have to be re-machined to fit into every plane -- fighter or bomber.

Colonel Ozan Zanzeph then outlines their assignments. The 223 and 301 dive bomber squadrons are assigned to patrol the Red Sea and sink any MadderMikian or Manarthian vessels. The 109, 110 and 111 fighter squadrons are assigned to protect the western borders of Jordan, Syria and 1/2 of Iraq from MadderMike ground forces. The remaining fighter squadron the famed "Bloody Hand" is assigned to protect the airbase itself. The "Bloody Hand" Squadron has the only experienced pilots on the base.

Nigerian/Congo Border

It had been a good 3 days of waiting at the border for the order to come, but finally the powers that be had ordered the advance. All along the border, the Manarthian units began their push foward, into Nigerian territory.

Over the cource of the 3 days, tanks from the waylayed divisions began to trickle in, but most required maintenence and were pulled off the line. Still, 4 divisions of infantry and 1 of armor were fully staffed and ready for battle. The artillery attached to the divisions began the battle by opening fire on the foward trenches of the Nigerians, with the tanks (having been split up and assigned on a regimental basis to the infantry divisions) pushing foward, followed by the infantry.

Soldier Thomus Horati, carrying his squads light machine gun foward, watched the sporadic fire comming from the opposing side. Suddenly one of his comrades, Oversoldier Germanus Giganti cried out. Soon the entire platoon was pointing at the sight.

There, comming up from behind the Nigerian lines, were Elephants.

Horati hopped to the ground and called for his gun to be loaded, as he examined the beast. It had been given what appeared to be plate armor, sorounding it's huge frame, and on top, appeared to be two soldiers with an anti-tank rifle and a machine gun. Almost unnoticed, following behind the elephant, were about a companys worth of Nigerian infantry.

"Don't shoot the elephant! The tanks will take it!" Cried out his Squad Leader, "Open fire on the infantry."

There was little doubt the Nigerian infantry were brave, they proved that quite well. However, their mentality was one of fighting the low tech Congos or the Ivory Coastians. They were not prepared for an army with so many machineguns and tanks.

The elephant opened fire on the infantry, which took cover as best they could. Suddenly, a plume of smoke went up from one of the soldiers. "Battalion Panzershreck!" Cried one of the soldiers, as the rocket propelled grenade slamed home against the side of the elephant. Red ichor flew everywhere as the elephant turned mad. Soldier Horati continued to shoot Nigerian soldiers, as the elephant turned and began to trample his comrades in it's last death throws.

The remaining Nigerians turned to run.

"After them!" Cried the Arch Deacon, who had come up to see the comotion. "Now we can push them back for good!"

All in all, the army made a good 20 km that day. More progress was expected the next day.

Cpt Flacci: Well sir. I've been studying the strengths and weaknesses of our carriers and other ships, and as long as we're willing to make a small sacrifice, I believe we can destroy most, if not all, of the Ottoman Empire's naval air superiority in a single attack.

VAdm Quinti: What sort of sacrifice are we talking about?

*Cpt Flacci goes on in detail*

VAdm Quinti: Very well, Nelsi, are you willing to do your duty?

RAdm Nelsi: Yes, sir.

VAdm Quinti: You heard the young Captain, I want your Armored Crusers moving into the Gulf to hunt down any ship with an Ottoman Flag you see. Quickly hit what you see and run, just make sure nothing gets by you. Soon enough we should get the response we want.

Realizing the oddity, the captain of the Zebra decided to launch one of his 3 recon seaplanes to follow the CoC forces at a distance, while the Crusers followed behind into the Gulf.

Suddenly, the aircraft notices other aircraft flying down at the CoC fleet.

Quickly turning around, they fly back to the Crusers, and, upon landing, quickly relay their observations to the captain of the Zebra, who radios it in turn to the Gazelle and it's CO, Rear Admiral Horatius Nelsi.

Immediatly, he raises the Red Z flag signifying preparation for imminant battle, and they steam foward towards the CoC fleet. Radioing back to the main force behind them, the prepared to find out what was left of the CoC fleet, and whether the CoC was at war with them, or their unwitting allies.

Major Marif Kabbah, squadron leader of the six Kates assigned to the HMRS Rockhampton and the nine Kates assigned to the Cruisers was amazed at how quickly the fleet had spotted the air attack. His electronics experience was limited to the pitiful radios the fleet was using on their aircraft. If he had heard about radar he would have thought it like magic. The anti-aircraft fire was everywhere. He knew the Kates had to fly in a straight line for a long time to properly launch the torpedos. He watched in horror as one by one his Kates were taken down. He radioed back the co-ordinates of the war fleet and tried to describe the intense triple A fire. He watched as his brother LT Omar Kabbah managed to torpedo one of the cruisers. Major Kabbah was hit in the side by a fragment and was losing lots of blood. He knew he wasn't going to reach the Rockhampton and turned to the cruise liner. He managed to get off the torpedo just before he crashed into the sea.

Of the six Kates assigned to the Rockhampton two dropped their fish too early and fled. Major Kabbah turned to the cruise liner and managed to hit it. The other three were shot down before releasing their loads.

The nine Kates assigned to the cruisers did little better. Four were shot down early, two dropped their torpedoes, only LT Kabbah's managed to hit its target. LT Kabbah managed to escape but the other Kate turned towards one of the destroyers to strafe it and was hit by 20mm fire and exploaded. Of the remaining five Kates two dropped early and escaped, three missed their targets due to evasive maneuvers. These three narrowly escaped the battle site with extensive damage to their planes. Because the planes were lightly constructed two fell apart on the way back to the Curved Blade.

The dive bombers did better percentage wise, four managed to hit the Rockhampton and returned to strafe the ship. Two of these took heavy hits and fell apart. The other six missed their targets and immediately turned tail for home. One of these disintegrated as a 5" shell exploded right next to it.

The Zeros did little better. Ten stayed high to wait for any air attacks and didn't engage the fleet one was hit by AA and due to the construction ditched on the way back. The ten that did engage the fleet were hit often and still managed to fight until they went down. The bravery of these Zero pilots was noted by LT Kabbah. Out of ten Zeros none returned and only two pilots managed to climb out and parachute to the sea.

Kates sent 20 Recovered 6
Dive bombers sent 10 recovered 7
Zeros sent 20 recovered 9

The HES Zebra pulls up near the sinking CoC cruseliner, as it is the first ship they encounter as they race foward, while the HES Gazelle soldiers on ahead. Already the ship has gone down, and soldiers and sailors are flailing around in the water. Without hesitation, the Horatius Nesli gives the order to lower all available lifeboats. Even if the craft was sunk by his allies the MadderMikians, he would feel duty bound to rescue the sailors. Real sailors knew that ships fought against ships. The sailors were not his enemy, the sea was.

He personally borded one of the boats lowered into the water, and told the Brother (Petty Officer) that was about to board that he would take command of that one. Sailing out, he was immediatly besiged by the drowning soldiers. His small craft almost capsized several times as the survivors swarmed over it. Already he had witnessed two of his craft tip over. He pulled out his pistol and leveled it at the soldiers and sailors grabbing for the oars.

"We will save as many of you as we can, but any boat that does not come back with all of my sailors on it... I will shoot all on board!" He pointed his pistol on a CoC Staff Sergeant who hadn't seemed to get the message. "Now, any officers, please place your hands on the side of the boat. My sailors will help you on."

As he sailed back with a CoC Army Captain, 2 young looking Ensigns and several higher ranked NCOs, he noticed that his boat had thrown netting over the side, and a large number of the sailors were swimming towards him. "Good initiative" he muttered.

"So," he asked, turning to his rescuees/captives. "Who precicely fired the first shot?"

Onboard the OES Curved Blade Captain Emir Omar Shahatzan orders his battle group to the last known co-ordinates of the CoC fleet. He stays well off in his carrier awaiting more planes from the Iranian naval airbase at Bushehr. His battle fleet consists of one Admiral Graf Spee ( OES Sultan's Fury) pocket battle ship, two lightly armored cruisers and 3 destroyers. Although the gun directors and the design of the 11" main naval rifles are excellent, the Ottoman Empire navy doesn't believe in replacing the rifle barrels as often as the German engineers recommended. This effects both the range and the accuracy of the main battery.

The same is true of the 5.9" batteries. Soon they see the smoke from the air strike and close in. The appearance of the Manarthan ships supprise them but they wade in anyways. The OES Sultan's Fury opens fire on the HES Zebra. The two cruisers open fire on the remaining CoC cruisers. The destroyers begin making high speed torpedo runs at the HES Gazelle.

Horatius Nelsi climbs aboard the Zebra as a sailor rushes up to him. "Sir, we've spotted quite a few ships steaming towards the CoC fleet..." Another sailor interupts him. "Sir! The Zebra is reporting being fired upon by hostile craft. Torpedos in the water!"

"Tell them to return fire on the enemy ships. I've just been informed that it is the Ottomans that are to blame. You!" He points to a sailor. "Get back to the bridge on the double and tell the radioman to get the Admiral on the horn, then set a cource right into the thick of it. It's time to drop the hammer on the Ottoman fleet. You!" He points to another. "Get to Lt. Commander Pulcri and tell him to get our 5 scout planes in the air."

Not looking to see how fast they are carrying out his orders, he rushes towards the conning tower. Once there, he pulls out his binoculars and looks out over the battle. Smoke from the guns obscured much of what was happening in the CoC line, but he could make out the Gazelle firing away at the destroyers. The maneuvers she was making made hitting them at the distance they were remaining difficult, but she hadn't been hit with a torpedo yet. He watched as she turned away from the Destroyers, attempting to make a run for it. He frowned, as the lack of Aft Armament would not allow her to hit the destoryers, but realized that getting away intact rather then knocking a single ship or two to the bottom was the wisest move. For the first time, he wished he the ship had been a Mogami Class. Two aft turrents would have been a big help.

Glancing to the left of the battle, he noticed a slightly larger ship fleeing from the engagement, towards his ship. Glancing for a closer look, he spied the Ottoman flag atop a Pocket Battleship, steaming his way. "S***!" He cried, jumping down and running for the bridge as the first puff of smoke was emitted from the Ottoman ship. It came down with a splash about 500 meters short, but still close enough to worry him.

Getting onto the bridge, he noticed his ship steaming quickly toward the German vessel. "No! Turn it around!" He cried. "They have us outgunned and out ranged!" Another shot came down, this time only meters short of the ships front. "We're still about 200 meters out of range." Replied the Leutenant in charge of gunnery coordination, an arch father in the Flacci clan. "Besides, the CoC ships are moving to intercept him. We can take him."

Just then the third shot came down, on the conning tower. The ship rocked slightly as the powerful 11" shell tore through the thin steel protecting the observation men. "Well, no help for it now. We're in too close to outrun them. Tell the gunners to get ready to fire on the Ottoman ship."

"We're within range!"

"Open fire! All 8" guns!"

The 10 8" guns aboard the Zebra open up firing a spread patern toward the MadderMike ship.

on-board the Sultan's Fury

LT Anwar Marshif the officer in charge of the number one turret had studied in Germany, understood German, and knew the engineers had done an excellent job. His crew were trained, the guns were loaded expeditiously, and his gun director was extremely precise and accurate. LT Marshif had begged his superiors to replace the guns when the germans had instructed in the manuals. The fact that each barrel now had almost twice as many rounds fired through them as recommended explained why only one round had hit the Zebra.

When the Rockhampton begins to fire on the Sultan's Fury The CO, Captain Abdul Bin Fasteem, orders the number two and three turrets to return fire. Soon the combined attack of the Zebra and the Rockhampton started to rain down on the Sultan's Fury. The number two and three turrets were taking about twice as long as necessary to reload. The 5.9" batteries were just as bad. Two of the starbord 5.9" batteries were knocked out, one of the port side was out. Fires were raging in six different areas of the ship. The poorly trained men were trying to battle the fires, and continue to fire upon their targets.

One of the light cruisers was hit in the engine room and only had one screw turning making it very difficult to avoid the torpedo attacks. Two of the destroyers were smoldering ruins, sinking fast.

Onboard the OES Curved Blade

Two more hits land on the HES Zebra destroying one of the 8" turrents and punching a large hole right along the water line. Not enough to sink the ship, but enough to make it list to starboard for a good 3 minutes, screwing up the fireing of the remaining 8 guns during that time, until the crew managed to compensate for the damage.

The ship was taking water, but not fast enough, or with in enough places, to be a detriment to its staying afloat. The remaining 8" guns continued to hammer on the OES Sultans Fury as fast as they could be loaded, and with the HMS Rockhampton assisting them, the sailors felt they had little to fear.

Meanwhile, far away from the battle, the HES Gazelle had taken a torpedo hit by one of the destroyers on the rudder and was taking on water fast. The entire line of torpedo planes line up for attacks on the pocket battleship, while the divebombers move to take out the carrier.

The CoC destroyers lay down a smoke screen in an attempt to block any additional Ottoman ships from spotting the navy.

The Rockhampton takes 4 hits and and 2 near misses. It begins to sink. Carson abandons the ship, moving the flag to the neaby Portland class Cruser.

The Northampton class moves foward and engages the pocket battleship with it's 9 "8 guns and 3 "21 torpedo tubes. It's moving at 28knots.

The CoC crusers fire AA at the torpedo bombers. No torps hit the crusers, but one hits a nearby destroyer, sinking it.

(OOC: This battle is taking place in the strieghts, the Southern Fleet is to the South East of the streights in the Arabian Sea.

The Sultan's Fury puts up a heavy barrage of 20mm and 40 mm anti-air cover as she is listing more and more. None of the 5" guns are working and the 11" guns are all kaput.

The dive bombers having delivered their loads begin to attack the torpedo planes lining up on the Sultan's Fury. The zeros are concentrating on the F4s of the twelve dive bombers from the OES Curved Blade three were hit by AA and ditched before going 5 miles. Two others were downed by F4s. The zeros attacking the HES Gazelle flew up to meet the arriving CoC planes and began to attack them. Three went down immediatly and two more were trailing smoke and headed for home. The kates were taking heavy damage and all but five were lost. The remaining five headed for the Curved Blade.

OOC: The Curved Blade (the aircraft carrier) is 200 miles away from the battle. (The Persian gulf is 600 miles long) The airbase at Bushehr is another 100 miles from the carrier.

Nigerian Coast

The HES Z-34 and HES Z-39 (Shiratsuyu class) were keeping an eye out for submarines, as they escourted the merchant fleet, lead by the armed merchantman HES Prophet's Ultimate Love from Nigeria to the colonies of Antartica. Suddenly, an unfamiliar shape appeared on the Northern Horizon. Closing in on the merchantmen, (going about 18knots), was a rather large ship.

Attempts to contact the ship via Manarthian telegraph transmissions were ineffective, and suddenly the skipper of the HES Z-39, which had swung around to get a better look reveiled the worst possible news.

"It's a Battle Cruser! Alaska Class!" The Lt. Commander reported. "It's flying an Egyptian Flag!"

The other destroyer's skipper, a full LT. swung his ship around, as the merchantmen scattered in all directions.

"Move foward, give him a spread of torpedos and keep him occupied," came the orders over the radio. "And may the Prophet see us through this one."

The HES Z-34 pulls up with the Z-39 as the Alaska class opens up at range with it's big guns. The first two shells splash down in front of the destroyers. In the distance, the merchantmen flee at the best speeds they can manage.

Lt. Com Z-39: Okay men. Fire the torps, turn tail, and see if we can't keep her at a distance. We're faster than she is, we can take 'er.

They fired their torpedos at the Alaska, as the first set of "12 shells came screaming down on the Z-34.

In the end, no sign of the Z-34 or Z-39 were found, and the HES Duovirus reported seeing the HES St. Rencius, a slower merchant ship following behind the Duovirus, blow up from what appeared to be shells. No other casualties have been confirmed, but the HES Siemper Canis, HES Prophet's Ultimate Love and HES Tacitus Militas also did not return to any Manarthian held location.

(OOC: Wayne, the HES Siemper Canis just barely managed to run to Brazilian territory, before running low on fuel. It's currently requesting safe harbor.)

Losses: 2 Destroyers, 1 Armed Merchantman, 2 other Merchantmen.

Manarthian Expiditionary Forces

Moving foward, east through the desert, the Manarthian soldiers have arrived at the Nile River, just up river of Kosti (http://www.atlapedia.com/online/maps/political/Nth_Africa_E.htm) and are preping for the push foward to take the city of 50,000. Egyptian armed forces in the area consist of 3 infantry regements and an armored battalion, as well as an Egyptian sized squadron (12 planes as opposed to the Manarthian 10) of B-25 bombers (still new to WWII aircraft, tell me if I get it wrong), and a similar number of fighters (I'm not sure of the type yet).

At dawn, the Manarthians launch their 44th Airborn Division to the North, at Khartoum, and with their JU-88s flying overhead, begin to bomb the city of Kosti, catching the defenders by suprise. Taking advantage of the situation, the VI corps moves foward and surrounds the city, with regements of the 12th Amored swinging out to size the airfield. The few aircraft that make it into the air are shot down by the fighters accompanying the push foward.

II Corps quickly releaves VI Corps, who with XI, XIV and XIII move foward towards Khartoum and Omdurhman. As the Egyptian regements try to break free, II Corps sets up a perimeter, allowing the enemy to smash into a wall of resistance. The armored battalion is almost able to force a breakthrough before being stopped by the 350th Brigade of the 25th Armored, which had happened to be traveling around where the battalion had tried to smash through. Other than that, and the continued pocket of resistance in Kosti, the area ahead was secure.

In Khartoum, the 44th Airborn quickly took up possition in the south of the city, securing several buildings and prime defensive areas for themselves. With their 3 lb field guns dropped from the air, they dug in and prepared to do their best to keep the Egyptian Armored Divisions stationed there and in Omdurman from breaking them.

OOC: Air losses?

we had a bit of a fighter battle going.

IC: Once again poor training, abysmal radios, half-hearted maintenance resulted in heavy losses for the Ottoman air force. Of the 30+ zeros sent out, less than 50% made it back to the Curved Blade. Two different waves of dive bombers totaling 29 dive bombers only 17 returned to the carrier and two of those were pushed off the ship as total wrecks. Only one kate made it back, the long even flight path to launch the torpedos took a heavy toll on the kates.

Manarthian forces press foward, with the spearhead of VI Corps reaching Khartoum and relieving the 44th Airborn Division. The lines of the enemy have been drawn, with a large enemy force encamped across the river in Omdurman. While an Egyptian Amrored division was bottled up and destroyed in Khartoum, and while all three remaining bridges are in Manarthain hands, 2 Armored Divisions still remain, as well as 4 infantry divisions, a 5th Infantry and 3rd Armored being held in the Northern city of Merowe in reserve.

However, the good news for Manarth is that no other reinforcements are availiable in all of southern Egypt, the rest having been sent North to defend the border with MadderMike (2 Mechanized, 6 Infantry, 3 Armored), in Libya defending the other border with Chad (5 Infantry, 3 Armored), or prepped in Port to ship out (4 Infantry, 2 Armored, 1 Mechanized).

Manarthian forces, comprised of IX Corps and the 41st Infantry out of , moves North on the other side of the river toward Omdurman, taking light casualties in it's vanguard before withdrawing and camping about 50 km to the south of the city. All forces are silent for now, awaiting further orders.

In Kosti, Egyptian forces continue to hold out, but the Manarthian's II Corps are content to simply shell the city and hold a perimeter. A couple of strong efforts to break through only resulted in massive Egyptian casualties, and at most a group only about platoon size actually making it through and beyond the Manarthain lines before being hunted down. Manarthain casualties are light, but significant.

Egypt

With the arrival of the CoC 15th Armored, 37th Airborne, and 25th Infantry Divisions, the Manarthian forces moral is at a high. The CoC Divisions, arrainged differently and slightly larger than their Manarthain counterpart, are quickly attached to the Manarthian Corps.

Some quick reorganizations are made, as the Egyptian soldiers dig in around Omdurman. New orders are given to the Allied forces, with VI Corps ordered to hold on to Khartoum, XIV Corps ordered to defend the supply lines linking Khartoum and the Manarthian built railway system to the South, II Corps ordered to continue to hold the line in Kosti, XIII Corps ordered to probe the southern approach to Omdurman, and IX Corps to ford the river to the east of Khartoum, and then to cross the Nile via pontoon bridge to the North of Omdurman.

Further conflict occured as the Egyptians counterattacked, pushing south into XIII Corps with their 3 Armored Divisions in an attempt to break through. Troops pulled foward from the CoC 37th Airborn and Manarthian 7th Infantry were able to hold them off, after their intial sucess, but the push caused heavy casualties on XIII Corps.

Shipments of supplies between Antartica and Nigeria are proceeding at a snails pace. Already food supplies for the current inhabitants are streatched, with the Nigerian indentured servants subsiding on about 1200 calories a day, and even their overseers on a 2.5K calorie diet.

The Nigerian indentured servants and some of the African nationals have begun grumbling about the poor treatment of their bretheren, and the amount of deaths from work in the local mines and lack of food. While those of Niponese ethnicity bemoaned the current state of affairs, and those few decendents of Nordic remain torn on who to blaim.

As the next shipment arrives, with more indentured servants, captured from their villages by self styled "Dukes" and traded to the Manarthains, and some food. However, an attack by Egyptian submarines sunk a frieghter filled with grain before being chased off by the escourting destroyers, and so the grumbling continued.

Ancestrial Home of the Quinti, 3rd hour of the 3rd Watch

A very descrete individual chuckled silently in his head as he dodged yet another insomniac member of the Quinti family. While the family had great spiritual powers and duties, and seemed to be up the entire night performing some ritual or another to various minor prophets or aspects of the main One, they didn't seem to notice a very descrete individual moving silently through the house towards the main sleeping quarters.

All the great Houses of Manarth (and some of the smaller ones) had guards and walls, as they did in the old days when the houses fought one another for dominance. In this case the one guard on the western approach was already asleep. A little cloraphorm made sure he would stay that way until sunrise. And the wall was only 3 feet high worth of stone.

The very descrete individual was careful of the noise he made, as he opened the wooded frame door. In a house such as this, made in the traditional style of the Quinti Niponese ancestors, any sound traveled quite well. He made his way up to the large Nordic style bed the old seemed to favor. "Yes." the decrete individual thought, "yes this is the one."

There was the head of the Quinti family resting with a African woman in her 30s. "Obviously neutered," he thought. "One of the Retori clan perhapse." Marriages between races were common enough now, provided the husband had enough wealth, but even in this era, and even at the old Quinti's age, no self respecting man would risk a racialy mixed child.

The very descrete individual pulled out of his person a vial of cloudy liquid, and very carfully dropped five drops into Quinti's mouth. He paused, considering a sixth, but the old man's snore quickly subsided into an interminent cough, and he decided against another dose. "Five should be plenty for a man of 70 summers. I can use the rest on my next job, and bill for all of the bottle on this one."

As the old man's cough turned more violent, the very descrete individual slipped out, past the family members and sleeping guard, unseen into the morning dawn. By the 2st hour of 1st light, Cardinal Mathius Quinti was pronouced dead from accute pulminary infection. And by the 1st hour of midday, his sucesser, first born son Bartus Quinti was appointed Cardinal, assistant to spiritual affairs.

“Ladies and Gentlemen of Parliament, We have been at war with for several weeks with the Ottoman Empire after we sent a Naval Taskforce to the Persian Gulf to Evacuate CoC Civilians from Kuwait City and Basra so they would not be caught between MadderMikkian and Ottoman Forces that are sure to invade that region. Unfortunately Ottoman Forces saw fit to Attack our taskforce causing Massive Casualties and Sinking the Alaska Class Battle Cruiser, HRMS Rockhampton in 2 waves of Air Assault from an Unknown Ottoman Aircraft Carrier and a Gun Duel with an Ottoman Pocket Battleship which also resulted in that vessels Destruction. We were supported and probably saved by the Intervention of 2 Manarthian Cruisers, both of which were lost in that battle.

Manarth our new ally is engaged in a deadly struggle WWII Egypt, they have crossed over 2,000 miles of Harsh Desert to engage with Egyptian forces in the Sudan after a Manarthian Convoy was ambushed and Destroyed by an Egyptian Merchant raider. We have sent 3 Divisions to Sudan via Nigeria to assist in that operation. I have gathered Parliament here before me to ask for a Formal Declaration of War on Egypt and the Ottoman Empire. After we have crushed these nations we will once again be able to live in peace with the rest of the world. I am also requesting Parliament vote for the activation and preliminary training of 23 Reserve Divisions incase another nation seeks to take advantage of our large and rich border regions."

::The B-29's Close in on the Bushehr after flying over 3,000 miles at wave top level, they climb to 10,000 feet and in close Formation to maximize their Defensive Armaments. They each drop their Loads over the Harbor and the Airbase releasing 1920 500lb bombs in the area in carpet bombing attacks. After dropping their loads they turn west to cross the Persian Gulf at nearly 360mph radioing to MadderMike requesting somewhere to land::

At Bushehr Airbase the B29s arrived without warning. Twenty-five Zeros climbed up to meet the B29s. Meanwhile the bombs blasted hangers, runways maintenance buildings and some of the fuel tanks. Fires were blazing everywhere. The AA batteries were barely operational when the B29s moved out of range.

Under Shah Kaleed ibn Muskeen calls the airbases in Sirhan and Lar to go and look for the B29s.

The damage done by the B29s was extensive but the runways were repaired quickly as they were mostly rock anyway. Muskeen calls High command begging for FW190s and ME109Es. The Zeros just aren't up to the task of B29s.

(OOC: Some nice links for the battles going on. YAY INTERNET!!! http://www.itmb.com/map_samples/sudan.jpg http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/africa/sudan_khartoum68.jpg )

The Egyptian Airforce has finally gotten intelligent, and moved all of their medium range bombers based of the coast of Egypt (those not in striking range of prime MadderMike targets) to the south, basing them in Ed Damer with the reserve forces previously housed in Merowe. Out of the original 300 B-25's sent to guard the coast, only 60 remain in their original possitions, mostly to the North, ready to move against MadderMike. In addition, 228 fighters have been moved from the coast to support them, as well as 1/2 of the HLS (His Lordship's Ship) Osirus (CV Wasp Class) compliment of torpedo bombers, having been hastily re-equiped with bombs for divebombing.

Manarthian reinforcments have arrived, with an additional 150 JU-88's, 100 Me-109s and 10 experimental JU-488s opperating out of Nigeria. In addition, raw recrutes and seasoned veterens requesting transfers to active duty have arrived to bolster the ranks of infantry lost in the recent battles. Temporary plattoons have been attatched to the 44th Airborn Division, as the trainees have not yet had parachute training and the military leaders back in Johannesburg don't want to waste any trained personel while they are still trying to form another Airborn Division. No medium tanks have arrived either at this time, although heavy tanks have arrived to replace those lost in earlier battles.

The Manarthian IX Corps forces a crossing to the North of Omdurman, at the town of Shandi/Abu Khurug. They leave the 41st Infantry pointed North against a possible counter attack, and move their 3 Armored Divisions South towards Omdurman, making it to Beryab by the end of the day.

Another attempted breakthrough to the south of Omdurman is pushed back and counterattacked by XIII Corps, as the damaged, but still viable divisions push the Egyptian lines back from El Samra to El Ushera before the Egyptians are able to halt them with a well fortified trenchline.

In Kosti, the Commander of the Egyptian Infantry Divisions, surrenders after a brutal siege to the 33rd Infantry. II Corps turns North as XIV Corps works to hold the city, and the country side.

As the word of XIII Corps success comes over the radio, VI Corps moves out siezing the oppertunity. They manage to move over the first hurdle, occupying Khartoum North before being halted at the bridge over the Nile.

The Manarthain Airforce continues it's bombing of Omdurman, having shifted from it's earlier goal of demoralizing the Kosti defenders, with some of it's fighters running airsupport for IX Corps.

The Egyptians manage to bomb the 41st Infantry as they set up shop along the Omdurman approach, and their reserve forces have moved out to deal with the 41st.

*Classroom of Horatia Decimi, quarti anni pueri (4th Grade)*

Horatia: Okay class, it's time for a lesson on Manarthian culture. First off, who can tell me what the date is? How about you Claritus?

Claritus Meridi: The seventh day in the the first tenday of the 12th Month

Horatia: Good, and the year?

Claritus Meridi: The third year of Emperor Valonius.

Horatia: Very good, you may be seated. As you should know by now, we grownups have a special way of keeping track of the dates. We call the day a dieis, and the tenday a decadeis. And we also have special names for all the months. Who can tell me a months special name? Tacita?

Tacita Flacci: St. Valonii is the 3rd month.

Horatia: That's right, Tacita. Our Emperor decreed that our 3rd month should be named after him, since that's the month of his birth. Our current month is called Duodecimi, because none of our recent Emperors were born this late in the summer. But enough review. Now I'd like to talk about family structure.

Now, who can name to me the imperia familia and the rest of the virtutae familiae? Aeneus?

Aeneus Matriculi: The imperia is the Flacci, and the rest are the Quinti, the Decimi, the Retori, the Meridi, and the... the... Mer... Merci?

Horatia: Very close, can anyone help him finish the last one? Iulius?

Iulius Mercuti: THE MERCUTI!

Horatia: Very good, that's quite enough Iulius. Now, as you know the head of these families are the Cardinals of Manarth, who assist the Emperor in making his decisions. And ctizens of these familiae are all monks in His Eminence's Church. Now, who here is a member of the magnae familiae? Yes, Aeneus, you are, as are you Tomus. The magnae familiae are the other ten families, that with the virtutae familiae, founded the Holy Empire of Manarth. Now, many years ago their was a great war between the families, and the magnae familiae joined forces against the virtutae familiae. And even though they lost, they swore their loyalty to the virtutae familiae, and the Emperor Ardeus was so moved by their act, that he agreed to let them back into the Empire.

(OOC: If you read this far, I commend you.)
Claritus Meridi: And the bonae familia, and the quartae familiae?

Horatia: I'm getting to them, sit down, or you'll have to sit on the girl's side of the class. Now, the magnae familiae all have a leader, who's called the quartus Cardinal, and all their men are monks. Now the bonae familiae are families who have risen above the rest and who's good stock and breeding shows through despite their low beginnings. They are permitted to marry into the bonae familiae of similar race, and their leaders are all Arch Bishops. The decendents of the leaders of these families are monks, and are permited to rise up the ladder of the church.

The quartae familiae on the other hand are the workers on which this nation is founded. They give their all so that we upper families may spend our time on more important things, like philosophy and culture. Of cource, a truly gifted quarter may attempt to rise into His Eminence's Church, but a riggerous exam is required to ensure that in spite of their breeding they have been blessed by the Prophet. The head of their family is a Monsiegnior of the Church, and every now and then you will see a Bishop in a quarta familia petitioning to become a bona familia. All together, we have 109 total families in the Empire, not including the foriegner families, which aren't even big enough to matter. Well, that's it for now, it's recess time, and Abbot Decimi is holding a Cricket game. Hurry along now!

Under Shah Kaleed ibn Muskeen was watching the bulldozers finishing spreading the crushed stone on the two runways. The crushed stone caused a higher failure rate on the aircraft tires but made it easy to create or fix the runways. We have lots of rocks and sand Thought Muskeen.

Many of the fires were under control and the damage reports were streaming in. Fifteen zeros were lost on the ground four more were lost in chasing the B29s. Eight Kates were damaged as were almost all of the dive bombers. Repairs were going to take time as two of the three machine shops were heavily damaged. There was no working hangers so all the work had to be done outside in the desert heat.

Muskeen ordered a thousand AA88s He figured he would be lucky to see a hundred and fifty. He envied his counterpart in Lar he had ten ME269s and over three hundred AA88s. He also had almost two hundred zeros with another ten FW190s. Lar had three different airfields. Sirhan was a different story they had more zeros than anyone but they were scattered about in ten different locations. There was a huge fleet of oil trucks to refuel them but any major repairs had to be done at the main base. Some planes had to be trucked into the base to be fixed. Sirhan only had a few AA batteries and in Muskeen's opinion the worst pilots in the Empire.

Sirhan's commander was the Sultan's second wife's brother and as Muskeen liked to say -- a drooling idiot.

A fierce battle rages in the smaller cities surounding Omdurman, as the Coalition Army pounds away at the smaller Egyptian force. Egypt's B-25's had stalled the southern push foward, but the armor crossing the river from North Khartoum, and the armor pushing from the north have bisected the Egyptian army, leaveing little room for retreat.

Some of the soldiers, with little supplies have fled west into the Waddi ed Dieqa, a collection of vallys and cliffs, and the bulk of the remaining forces are holded up to the south of Omdurman proper in El Ushera. Only 2 Divisions of Armor remain at about 1/2 strenght, and Manarthian forces have now surounded their army leaving no chance of escape.

The forces to the North of them have been obliterated or surrendered, with the exception of an Infantry and an Armored division at Ed Damer. While the forces there have attempted to move out and relieve the army trapped to the south, constant bombing campaigns along the road have rendered the road south practically inaccessable.

Egypt's military leaders are frantic, their commander in chief had gone to the front personally to oversee the defence, and is missing in action. The King of Egypt is equally nervous, and appoints his 2nd cousin, a Maj. Gen. to the post of Commander in Chief. They immediately set off bringing troops in from the border with Chad, reducing its numbers by 3 Infantry and 1 Armored and rushing them to the Nile river to dig in around the spiritual capital of Cairo. Those military units they have in port are hastily sent out, with a large fleet, to bring the war to the coalition's shores. (OOC: More details on this later)

Manarthain forces regroup, and leaving a small contingent to keep the Armored Divisions bottled up, they set off for the north to crack into Ed Damer.

II Coprs is left behind to hold the Armored Divisions in place, VI Corps is commissioned as the spearhead of the attack, XIV Corps is still holding the supply line from raiders to the south, IX Corps is following the VI corps closely, and XIII Corps turns north as well, but holds back slightly as a reserve.

Cardinal Mercuti: No need to be formal with your words Bartus, we're friends now. I wonder, what do you think of your sudden appointment to Cardinal?

Cardinal Quinti: Well, I was shocked really. I always assumed that my younger brother, the Arch Bishop, would have gotten the spot. Especially after I was sent to MadderMike as an Embassador.

Cardinal Mercuti: Of cource you would, but I remembered what a great job you've done and asked the Emperor personally to consider you, and begged the Prophet himself to put the words in the Emperor's mouth and behold! Here you are.

Cardinal Mercuti: But the question is do you have faith in the Prophet? I'm not sure of the new Cardinal Retori, and frankly it seems to me like his path is not guided by the Prophet at all, but by some false prophet. Watch with me in the meetings and tell me if the Emperor dominates him, or it is the other way around?

Cardinal Quinti: Bold words! Do you have any proof to back you claim?

Cardinal Mercuti: Not yet, but watch and doubt what you see. It is up to us to advise the Emperor, to steer him to the words of the Prophet, and it is your job most of all to hear his words. If he speaks not to the Cardinal Retori, then we must speak more of this.

Cardinal Quinti: I see. I shall consider this in my prayers to the Prophet. Now, can we talk about something more light. I fear this wine tea is already too thick for any more heavy conversation; say, have you seen the latest play by the Eastern American playwright, from the Florida Province. What is his name? Aide 1: Sir, now is the time to strike and take what is rightfully ours. Indo-China is ripe for the picking. We have reports that an enourmous portion of the CoC Army and Navy have committed themselves in North Africa and Southwest Asia. They only have 2 Full Size Carriers they have not committed anywhere. Their Air Force has also been largely transfered to Arabia and Diego Garcia. They cannot stand in our way. We shall show them the Superiority of the Japanese Navy in both Technology and Ability. We should also Seek out an Alliance with Andulucia before the Clans can. If we can secure that we could swing a great deal of our resources into an all out attack taking Indochina and Possibly Borneo before those round eye cowards can sue for peace.

Aide 2: You fool the CoC has activated its reserves, they have the strongest armored forces in the world and Excellant Air Power, Defeating them will not be easy. They still have an Entire Heavy Rifles Division in Indochina, THATS 2,000 TANKS. We cannot stand up to them. We have received Reports from the Ottomans of the excellance of both their Naval Cannon, and their Unnerving ability for shooting down Aircraft we have sold to the Turks. We must be cautious. And we are all forgetting that Andulucia is a roundeyed nation as well. They are going to be an enourmous threat. With their Pacific Possesions they have the ability of Cutting us off from our Empire. We must Secure Wake Island and Guam at the very least. We have a large amount of Forces in Truk near guam, we should make a move their and keep the Andulucians from striking us.

Aide 3: Everyone is forgetting China, if we can secure an alliance with them, we can attack both the CoC and Maddermike in South Asia as well as take Borneo. We use the Chinese for Infantry and we'll be able to keep both those nations busy. while our main thrust should be in Siberia, that region has the potential to allieveate our population problems as well give us much in the way of natural resources. Let China do the fighting and losing in the SOuth while we win up north. Its the perfect way to expand our Empire.

Lewis: So, we do that?

We have recently received very direct and obvious radio transmissions that Japan was planning to attack the CoC and try to take IndoChina. And not just that, but the radio intercepts led us to believe that the Japanese were planning a strike against our forces in the pacific. To prevent such an attack from harming such strategically vital places, we have launched a pre-emptive strike against the Japanese invasion forces.

We are willing to prosecute this war to its end, and we will do so.

Post for WWII Japan

While the Japanese forces in Truk and the Phillipines were caught off guard, they were not quite unable to defend themselves. In the Phillipines several Zeros were running combat patrols, in preparation for the invasion of Indochina, and quickly dove in to the dogfight. Japanese warships and ground based flak began to pound the sky, searching for the fighters and bombers overhead.

On the ground, and on the carrier decks of the 2 ships already making their way from the port, naval and army personel scrambled to get their airplanes into the air. As the aircraft of Andalucia closed in and began to targe the runways, common soldiers, careless of their own personal safety, lined up to shoot at them with machineguns, rifles, or pistols.

The bombing runs do take their toll on the Japanese forces however: 2 of their newest aircraft carriers are sunk in Manila harbor, and a Battleship is heavily damaged. No smaller craft is hit, due to the selectiveness of the divebombers. Moderate damage has been done to the Japanese airforces around the base, but enough remained to drive off the second wave of attackers.

Andalucaian subs have destroyed 2 destoryers attempting to flee the port, before beign spotted by other ships. A taskforce of 7 destroyers are currently seeking them out. Aircraft carriers unijured from the previous fights (2) have begun making their way onto open water.

In Truk much the same is happening, but without the large naval taskforce in the area, the base is much quicker to crumble. Andaluciae on the second wave, manage to achieve partial air supperiority. While the runways remain intact, and Japanese planes are doing a fair job against the slower manuvering Andaluciaen planes, the volitility of their airframes and lack of radar have led to a war of attrition.

In the Japanese Islands, the Admiralty recieves word of the attack, and dispatches 2 divisions of Marines, and 2 of the remaining 5 aircraft carriers to reinforce the Philippines.

Japan

The Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs is meeting with a variety of people today. The Empire of China, The Ottoman Emprire, The United States of New Iberia, The United Kingdom of Iberia, The Republic of Brazil, The Kingdom of Kenya, and the Democratic-Republic of Somalia all have representatives present. The Japanese Minister begins:

"Gentlemen, we can all see a grave threat to our liberties as free people; I can see it and I assure you that if you open your eyes you will see it too. Kenya, Somalia, you have seen your neibors ravished by the self proclaimed "liberators" from Manarth. Ottomans, China, Iberia, you have watched as the CoC demolished your allies. New Iberia, Brazil, you have seen the threat as Andaluciae attacked our forces without warning. How long do we have to wait for our enemies to do the same to us. Alone, we could not take one of them, for they realize that strength is in numbers. We must correct this, by forming in our own numbers, and creating an alliance capable of stopping them once and for all.

"But we can't take them all out at once. But we can see their weakpoint, Manarth. Take one out at a time, and the rest will weaken. And Manarth is the weakest already. It's navy is not building fast enough, it's allies are waitiing for an oppertunity to pounce on it, it's army is spread thin, and it's economy is too dependant on imports. My friends, if we take Manarth out, Iberia and New Iberia have no war on their eastern flank. With Andaluciae out, everyone can concentrate on the CoC. But for this to work we need Manarth out of the way quickly.

"In addition, none can know about our plans but those on the highest levels. It must be a surprise when they find out we are all allies, and only then, when it is too late for them to do anything. The last thing we need is Andaluciae attacking New Iberia while their forces work against Manarth.

"So, what do you think of my plan...?"

They delegates discussed the plan into the night. In the end, the Japanese Minister had less than he wanted on his side, but more than he'd hoped. They could do this, if they did it right.

As the Andaluciaen attack against the Phillipines and Truk continue, new strategies are taken against each island fortress. At first it starts off seeming the same, with high altitude bombings with B-29s, their bellies covered by lower flying Corsairs and Mustangs, a mix of High Explosive and Incendiary bombs are used against their targets.

Japanese fighters scrambled to intercept the B-29s are met with a swarm of the fighter escorts, and the ferocity of the P-51 pilots is astonishing to the Japanese pilots.

While the bombardment continues against the Phillipines, at Truk a new situation is occuring. Having scoured the surrounding waters of enemy ships, the Andaluciaen fleet unleashes it's surprise. Marines in landing craft pour onto the beaches of Truk, with support from Heavy naval artillery and the B-29s, the marines advance inland, covered by Amphibious tanks, using flamethrowers against fortified positions. The confusion caused by the heavy weapons from the bombers and battleships, as well as tactical air support from the carriers covers their advance nicely.

Japanese Forces, Truk

The Japanese put up an admirable effort to defend the island stronghold of Truk from the Andaluciaen advance, but they are forced to give up ground quickly, and there isn't much to give on the small island.

The Japanese forces on the island, a divisions worth of Infantry, have managed to hold the landing parties just outside the main naval base, where the Japanese forces have sworn to fight to the last man. There is little hope that they will succeed.

Japanese Forces, Philipines

The Japanese continue to hold out on the island chain, though the loss of several destroyers from bombing raids and submarine strikes has lessened the moral of the naval personel in the sourounding area. The naval forces which had been poised to strike at the CoC just days before have been beaten, and all capable of moving under their own power have struck out for the Japanese Port of Formosa. They are escourted there by the two aircraft carriers dispatched earlier.

Japanese naval forces have decided to abandon the Amry to the Andaluciaens, and the Amry General Tatamushi Miroku has agreed to the plan. The remaining Army forces, and naval volenteers have dug in, and are prepaired to repel the invaders, should they land. 5 additional divisions have been brought in from the mainland to help with the defence.

Japanese Naval HQ

Admiral Hirotashi Hojo, commander of the Japanese navy, is a cautious man. While his Captains clamor for blood, Hojo prepares his countermanuver. Andaluciae doen't have to be destroyed just yet, they mearly need to be held off, contained. Time was on Hojo's side, assuming he could survive the attacks by Andaluciae.

"Now if I could find a way to eliminate just three of their carriers, they'd be forced onto the defensive while they built more.... But how... But how..."

The Andaluciaen forces have pushed the Japanese back to the main naval facility on the island, and have stopped for a short time to regroup and secure the surrounding area. General Slater, a renowned expert at mechanized warfare has arrived on the island and has given orders to:
-Begin construction on an airship capable of handling a large variety of airplanes. The Dauntless dive-bombers and P-51's arriving on the shorter airstrip are already being used against the Japanese in the naval position.
-Begin artillery bombardment of the naval facility in preparation for the ground advance.
-Move the T-34's to a blocking position outside of the facility, and prepare to assault it.
The heavy cruiser Duke Sobieski has also begun to bombard the naval facility with it's large cannons.

Andaluciaen heavy bombers have continued to strike at positions in the Phillipines, a new emphasis has been placed on Corregidor. Fire bombs are being dropped on the jungles so as to defoliate some areas which Japanese forces could flee to.

North Bank Shipyards is one of the key Andaluciaen naval shipyards. Currently they are working on the construction of two Battlecruisers. Chief Engineer Dawson is in charge of the construction, when he receives a direct order from the Admiralty.

CE Dawson: What the hell is this? Jack, come tell me I'm not seeing things.

Jack Lawrence: (reads paper) You aren't Tom, they're telling you to...

CE Dawson: ...change the battlecruisers into aircraft carriers.

Lawrence: This has to do with the report on sea power that's been circulating...I know it...

CE Dawson: Yes, yes. And you notice this, the navy won't accept the ships if they are battlecruisers, they specifically want carriers.

As Dawson calls in the foremen, his shock wears off, and the construction on the ships switches rapidly to a carrier.
