Axis Nova begins construction of microwave power station on an orbiting satellite

To be specific, we are building it on one of our orbiting natural resource satellites, which are asteroids maneuvered into orbit of Earth so that we can mine them and ship the resources down to Axis Nova.

The satellite in question is in geosynchronous orbit, and due to the nature of NS-Earth orbital mechanics, it is impossible for the microwave beam to hit anywhere but on the Imperial Graveyard, in which Axis Nova resides.

It works by using massed solar and fusion generator capacity to deliver massive amounts of power to an array of microwave recievers little larger than a satellite dish.

The advantages of this system is that we can save a lot of space and infrastructure by constructing all the large parts of a power plant in space, and we can use the materials already available up there to build part of the plant.

If the test of this station is successful, we will be constructing more plants to cover other sectors of the globe and selling power recievers to other nations.

Orbital mining... very interesting. We have a similar program in operation.

Aye. The tech involved is not terribly complex, and we purchased most of our space program on the open market and modified it to our needs.

Mining expansion is always good. Currently we are mining the moons of our colonies, as the materials on the moons can be processed and sent straight to our orbiting shipyards. The materials found in asteroids are now considered obsolete. feel free to take asteroids from the Tydus belt, which is located near our home colony.

(OOC: I'm post-modern and as such my space program is somewhat limited...)

We do not have significant deep space capabilty. The only way we were able to move the asteriods was with missions that took years to complete due to the requirements of the trajectories used to get our ships out there.

OOC: I see. sorry 'bout that.

IC: Message from Imperial Merchants Guild

Would you lik us to bring you asteroids? It would create a great trade between our nations, as in return all we ask for is food supplies, which would benefit our colonies. Our craft can easily tow asteroids to where you want them, and we are always glad to help a fledgling space nation.

OOC: I'm not a space nation either, really. I'm a land-based nation that happens to have a space program that's largely military/industrial in nature. =P

IC: We would be glad to accept your offer, provided you can bring us enough satellites to ensure a complete constellation allowing us to reach any part of the globe with our transmitters (the better to sell power).

4 Imperial Star Destroyers have just blown up your mining project. ha ha ha!

What they didnt know is you used venetian glass mirrors to deflect said destroyers blasts onto their home land.

OOC: No problem, as long as we can still trade.

IC: Worry not-we can provide all the asteroids you need, wherever you want them. Feel free to send men from your nation to direct the positioning process.
