President of the USN Resigns Amid Waves of Criticism
Nicholas Washington, the first President of the United States of Nick (The USN), has announced he plans to resign, effective tomorrow. Washington has been under pressure to resign after what some call a “complete failure” in diplomacy in the nation’s recent encounter with Exetonia Minor. His resignation also comes a little over a week after the Senate announced it would be investigating claims of corruption in his administration. His Vice-President, Howard Mills, will be taking the oath of office shortly after Washington's resignation goes into effect. Mills, in a speech he gave today shortly after Washington's announcement, said, “It’s time for the healing to begin in the USN." Mills also pledged to fix foreign and domestic problems caused by Washington. The major domestic issue being the lack of civil rights in the USN and the major foreign issue being the unstable peace with Exetonia Minor. Polls show that 83% of citizens support Washington's resignation and 76% think the USN will be better under Mills.
The Presidential helicopter was seen leaving the Presidential Residence this morning for locations unknown. Security officials say it was for Washington's safety as intelligence showed a plot, by a domestic terrorist group, to assassinate him. Citizens of the USN are still waiting for foreign and domestic reaction to Washington’s resignation.
