-50 miles of the coast of Tahiti

The carrier NKS Kaga and its battlefleet neared the tropical island of Tahiti. On the bridge Admiral Yamaguchi prepared for the invasion.
"Prepare fighters for launch. Inform the Osumi and the LSTs to deploy their landing craft. Contact the Nogumo and the Fuyutsuki and tell them to soften up the coast for the landing force."

OOC: If anyone owns Tahiti and the neighboring island of Moorea I will recall my forces. But if no one does, Tahiti and Moorea will be mine.

With the initial coastal bombardment over, several Kyushan landing craft hit the beach. The landing crafts opened and 1,000 Neo Kyushan soldiers spilled onto the white sand beach. To their amazement, there was no enemy forces, yet. There were no signs of any local resistance or foreign military forces. This may be easier than the soldiers had expected.

Never the less many took cover in craters from the bombardment, just in case. The soldiers spread out establishing a beach head for the LSTs to deploy the small tank force they carried. Overhead several Kyushan F-14s from the Kaga soared past on their way to take out and possible enemy installations. The F/A-18s and MiG-29s would follow soon to establish air supremacy.

OOC: I'll pause at this point in case anyone does own Tahiti and Moorea.

Completely understandable. The island of Tahiti is fully under Neo Kyushan rule. Efforst on Moorea are in the final stages. However, yes there is a possibility of conflict to the northwest in the Leeward Islands.

The Neo Kyushan government is proud to celebrate the Neo Kyushan military's victory in French Polynesia with the addition of Tahiti, Moorea, Tetiaroa, and Maiao to the Reoublic's territories. Tahiti will be added to the Republic as its newest province.

In honor of the arrival of Tahiti's new governor, Isoroku Kanagawa, the military forces stationed there conducted a parade. The parade was also to honor the men of the NKGDF (Neo Kyushu Ground Defense Force) and NKNDF (Neo Kyushu Naval Defense Force) that took part in the operation.

Laisser may be a small nation going through economically troubled times, but our intelligence and espionage teams remain among the best in the world. Governor Kanagawa is simply an interim governor as the local citizens prepare for provincial elections in which they will choose their own governor. We understand your concern but I promise you, your concerns are unwarranted. These people are Neo Kyushan citizens with all the rights and privleges there of. We recognize the local languages of Polynesian and French and are not forcing Japanese on the people, though it is the official language of our nation. We are making sure that all the people are represented in our national legislature.

Laisser recognizes that no specific abuses have been carried out against these peoples. Still the same, we do not condone any takeover of a foreign land by any action other than popular sovereignty. We demand that the people of Tahiti and elsewhere be given the option to out-right reject any Neo-Kyushan presence. We also demand that should these islands remain part of Neo Kyushu (God forbid) that French be added as an official language.

Above all we support any and all claims of our comrades of Communist Louisiana. They have our full-out support.

OOC: Laisser is not France, it is simply a nation based on the shared heritage of French history, culture, and language. Yes, it was empire-building that started the Francophone community, but it is shared heritage and interests that keeps it together. Laisser is all about promoting this, so we can't stand by idly while a Francophone area is absorbed. It would entirely OOC for us to let it go.

Only 1 fighting naval vessel is allowed in port at a time. You can keep 4 non fighting vessels in port. These could be Submarine Tenders. We do not mind if you send them out to sea to resupply your submarines. We just do not want a large foreign presence at a time.

Agreed. The Neo Kyushan government thanks you again. Perhaps this small bit of friction between our two nations can lead to a closer diplomatic ties.
