Cortina International Air Show >OPEN RP<

New Empire

OOC: It says air show, but we're open to virtually all types of vehicles, aircraft, tanks, ships, subs, whatever. Nothing too futuristic like space battleships or mechs, though.

IC:

Cortina Military Complex

Cortina had changed a lot since the last international air show. Huge arrays of underground facilities were added, massive defensive structures and radars were erected, the Air Base, Naval Air Station, and Naval base were now virtually one sprawling complex.

The air show had been UCSNE only for several years, with a second Markovian War and the Allanean conflict causing a security lockdown to all non APTO, CAP, or OMP members. But an era of peace had dawned over New Empire once more. This didn't stop the weapons design though. They still boasted a military worthy of the CAP and OMP.

The decision had been made that as a sign of good faith and the rebirth of the UCSNE in international affairs, the CIAS would be restarted.

OOC: YES! something new for me to eat...
IC: James Neilforth and his family were on vacation in New Empire, wandering the streets of New Berliston when Lea Neilforth, the youngest doughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neilforth spotted an add for the CIAS.
"Daddy, Daddy," Lea said quite excitedly
"yes honey bear," James replied
"Look," she said pointing to the CIAS poster, "can we go daddy please, please can we go?"
"I dunno honey..." james continued
"James, i think we can go, she hasn't been to an airshow now for a year,"
"yeah, dad can we go Huh huh?" James' son Alec said
*sigh*"yeah i guess, but that means i'll need to reschedule the brewery tour..."
"you'll do no such thing!" Kelly, AKA Mrs. Neilforth continued "you were the only one who wanted to go on that anyways, just cancel it"
Damn, James thought to himself, now I can't tell the guys I've been here, meh, i guess i gotta get on with life "OK, We'll go, it's a bit of a drive though, i guess that means we'll need to pick up a few movies anyways at a local (insert local store name here, like Best Buy),"
"Ohh dad, can i get Half Past Dead?" pleaded Alec
"SON! that's rated R!"
"yeah, I know but it's one hell of a mov..."
"Where did you learn that language!" Screamed Kelly, since Alec was only in fifth grade
"honey, we'll talk about this later..."

Soviet Bloc
03-10-2004, 06:30
To Whom it May Concern,

The Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc must inquire whether it would be acceptable that we bring a variety of items to showcase at this event. A complete roster of items is not available at this time but we do plan on bringing two C-380 Heavy Cargo Airlifters (one would be a civilian version for civilian sales). The first C-380V (civilian) will have a general purpose cargo/personnel pod and be outfitted for the airliner role (an additional pod will be sent aboard the second C-380 which is the general purpose cargo pod). Along with them will be full interactive displays, paper diagrams, etc. of the other pods which can be used with the C-380 base platform. We would plan on allowing tours (actual and virtual) of the aircraft.

The other items we are considering bringing would include the F-57C Molniya air superiority fighter (although it'd make it look bad as they'd compare it to the USCNE's fine aircraft), F-72 fighter-bomber, and a few models of possible future aircraft.

If allowed to bring land-based equipment, the ARSB would appreciate it if we could bring our newly released ST-21 next generation battle tank. Along with it we may bring an SV-90, SIV-21, MMPWV M-04, and even an M-11 FAV.

And, we may consider on bringing our single experimental metal polarization motor.

We await your decision.

Antoniy Zlatoslav

The Omzian Air Force and the Omzian Military Aerospace Corporation, being highly interested in this event, sees this international meeting of arms contractors to be a good opportunity to show different militaries our new military technologies. It is expected that military personnel (from Omzian Air Force, Omzian Army Aviation Corps and Omzian Naval Aviation Corps) and subcontractors, such as the Brenoran DEB (designers of the OMASC F-125), Honjak Electric Systems (manufacture of Omzian turbofans, PDE engines, and new scramjet engines), Noran Systems (manufacturer of Omzian-made aircraft avionics), and among others, will represent OMASC as a whole at the event.

Before we can assemble a delegation and sales representive team, we would like to inquire about the possibility to bring several aircraft, missile systems, and ground vehicles for our showcase in the event. The primary showcase we will be presenting will be the proposed F-125B "Mk. II" upgrade (including the anticipated APG-102/B ALPI radar) for the highly successful F-125A Rapier high-speed interceptor, and the newly designed RF-28 Archer short-range surface-to-surface "battlefield missiles". It is anticipated that a sales team will be brought to the air show to promote the export version of the F-125B upgrade, with presentations, tours, and the opening of F-125A computer simulators. Video systems will also be brought to show the capabilities of both the F-125B and the RF-28 in the form of 3D presentations. It is also expected that the EB-52WB "Big Weasel Mk.II" upgrade will be present at the airshow, along with the Adejaani-OMASC C-77 Dasher transport aircraft (and the Civilian Defensive Aids Systems countermeasure suite for the aircraft, by Noran Systems).

Other systems accompanying us will be the AH-60N Battlehawk, the Dagger hypersonic penetrator missiles, the Meteor supersonic air-launched anti-ship missile, the AMPAM series of smart anti-tank munitions, a mock-up of the new OMASC supersonic bomber project, and the presentation of the Adejaani-OMASC "Radar Paveway" technology.

Awaiting reply,

Morane Jorana,
OMASC Representive Board

OOC: Radar tag isn't really possible with subs, as they use SONAR, which you can't get a 'lock' with... Usually sub crews don't even use active sonar.

And Illior, no I'm not... You said you weren't sending any aircraft, so I don't have to confirm you. Send all the tourists you want. Good for business.

[ooc] Sonar is a type of radar....subs recieve pings from sonar, placing rather accurate coordinates for firing solutions etc.

[IC] Cordella graciously accepts
New Empire
03-10-2004, 14:02
OOC: No, radar is radio detection and ranging, sonar uses sound. There are several differences.

1. No submarine ever uses active pinging in combat unless they don't care about being found, the sound gives away their position to submarines using passive sonar. Active pinging also gives something that torpedoes can home on to.

2. You can't use sonar alone to determine a kill. Unlike radar, you don't get a 'lock' on the target and simulate a launch as you do with radar. With sonar, you only get the direction and of a target, and then fire torpedoes at it. The torpedoes will either home in passively (and unless the other crew detects the torpedoes, they won't know they're under attack) or use their own sonar for active detection.

Basically, when you 'radar tag', you use an active radar on someone to get a missile lock. The other aircraft, which has radar warning recievers, will emit a loud 'deedle' or some kind of beeping noise, which notifies you that someone is locked on, and in radar tag, has killed you. With subs, you don't even need to use active radar to get a firing solution. And since it's incredibly difficult to get subs to communicate with eachother while underwater, you can't just tell them you've launched.

Back in Newdoria

The pair of small Cessna Grand Caravan were filled to the brim with tourists, each plane holding twenty four people lucky enough to be selected for this honor. Of course, they deserved this honor; they were workers randomly selected from the Republic's most productive factories, and this was just a nice, paid vacation.

The engines on the Cessnas began to hum, drowning out the conversations of their human cargo, as the wheeled out onto the runways. The everyday banter of the pilot and Air Control went back and forth, as the crafts slowly started down the hard asphalt runways, picking up speed and pulling up into the heavens, their passengers happy and content, munching on peanuts and drinking fine Newdorian wine.

However, on the ground below them, the six Il-76 Soviet Transports were having a bit of mechanical trouble, despite the crews prayers that the old planes would take off. Leftovers from the days of Soviet Occupation, the Il-76s made up the whole of the Newdorian Heavy Air Transport. A man wearing the rank of Brigadier General could be seen stalking amongst the tanks and their lightly dressed crews, swearing. Those bastards had better get off soon, lest he miss the chance to show off his babies...

What is the Cortina Military Complex?

CMC 'Labyrinth'
The CMC is one of the largest land based facilities in the UCSNE, with the artificial islands of the PMC being larger. The facility is similar to that of the Berliston Military Complex, in that it supports sea, land, air and space assets of the UCSNE. The most notable structure of the CMC is the 'Labyrinth' facility, a huge structure that serves as a C4I center. It has a very powerful long range phased array radar system. This, combined with high powered laser systems and missiles, provides missile defense for the CMC. The next largest facility is the port, some of it built on to outlying artificial islands to expand space. The port can service an entire SCBF or CBF (Submersible Carrier Battle Force, Carrier Battle Force), and some areas of it are used as shipyards.

The primary airfield is capable of serving multiple Air Battle Forces, and like the rest of the land bound facilities, has a huge underground section. The runways can support any aircraft in the UCSNE arsenal, including the Pelican Ultraheavy WIG.

The facility is also home to a large amount of Marine forces, which can easily be deployed to their naval transports.

Commisar Josef Gafencu sat at his desk, eating Pringles and watching the Discovery Channel. Ah, yes, it was good to be Dictator, and not pay for his cable. Munching happily away, he pretended to not hear his secratary bugging him over the intercom. Finally, he sighed and set down his Pringles, pressing down on the intercom's button, and speaking in a rather mellow tone.

"Yes, what is it Miss Steinbreck?"
"Apparently sir, you have a call from the Prime Minister of Jackdonia, asking for our Prime Minister. I'm assuming that is you sir..."
"Well, put him on the line, let's not keep the man waiting!"

Taking a deep breath, he adjusted himself as the Secratary connected him to the Prime Minister of Jackdonia. Smiling as best he could, even though it didn't matter since this was on the phone, he spoke.

"Why, hello there sir. How may I be of use to you today?"

Back on the Newdorian Airfield, the Il-76s were finally taking off, Brigadier General Fritz Manstein none to pleased over the mechanical problems of the plane, or the droning engines, or the fact that he and his tank were packed in this flying coffin, but he did take small solace in the fact that he could finally wear his new dress uniform...

Brunhilde Squadron
Over the CMC

The 12 aircraft were F-133 Valkyries, the most advanced fighters in the skies over the CIAS. They had been escorting in the incoming aircraft from other nations, and most of the pilots were getting quite bored of playing traffic cop in multihundred million dollar planes. The commander of the squadron, Patrick O'Reilly, was a veteran of the Allanean-AMF war. His performance as a leading ace in The Valkyries, the most famous fighter wing in the nation, was exemplary, and he had managed to break the record of Alex Unsel, the previous top ace in New Empire.

"Hey, Whiskey."

Patrick didn't show any intrest at the callsign, most had gotten used to them.

"Yeah, Icarus?"

"Check out those Phantoms."

The TARGETS II system activated the enhanced optic cameras on the aircraft, zooming in on the old jets.

"Damn, they're sending F-4s? I could understand keeping the BUFFs... Maybe it's a historic show?"

"Brunhilde Squadron, this is Home Plate, you're clear for the crowd run."

"Alright! Now we get to do something."

The fighters broke into a well practiced formation, diving down towards the shore. They pulled up and went level a few hundred feet above the buildings, directly towards the runway. Double checking nobody was coming for landing, they activated the Visual Distortion system, changing the tone of the aircraft's gray to make them hard to see until they were within a kilometer or so. As they did so, they activated the smoke system, leaving colorful red and blue trails behind what appeared to be nothing. They pulled up a bit as they came into the crowd's sight, and then somersaulted over. They were now were upside down, with their noses pointed towards the opposite direction that they had been flying in, and punched on the engines, going as fast as possible without a sonic boom. Then the aircraft came in for landing. There was already a F-133 out for show, so the aircraft taxied to their hangars.

O'Reilly stayed in the cockpit for a bit, disconnecting his senses from TARGETS. He hopped out of the aircraft, and the squadron made for the locker rooms and changed into dress uniforms.

"Who's on PR duty first, cap'n?"

Patrick fitted his dress uniform hat, and then mentally went through the list.

"Ahh, lessee... Durst, you're up. You know the Valkyrie display is, right?"

"Yeah, yeah. Wish me luck."

OOC: 'Displays' coming up soon.

The Civilian and Miltary Transports circled overhead, each radioing down for permission to land, every man and woman aboard each prepping to look their best, and preparing to unload. Fritz and the tankers were busy getting into their dress uniforms and checking the tanks for any speck of dirt or mud. The driver of Fritz's Panther Ausf II G turned and looked at him with a queer look in his eyes, staring at his commander long and hard.

"You bastard, you stole my socks!"
"No I didn't!"
"Yes you did!"

Fritz steeped back, a faked look of shock in his eyes, trying to hide the nice and comfy wool socks behind his bag. Shaking his head, he pointed at the pair of socks in the driver's hand, looking as innocent as possible.

"I don't have your socks! See, you're holding your socks, you dummkopf!"
"Hey, don't try that fancy German speak on me, you ass! These are the crappy green ones the Quartermaster gave us! You stole the nice ones my daughter knitted for me!"
"Don't speak German?! You're the one swearing at a superior officer!"
"YOU STOLE MY GODDAMN SOCKS!"
"Oh, fine, fine! Take the damn socks, I don't want them anyway!"

Fritz growled and took off the wool socks with bunnies knitted on them, tossing them back at his driver, who caught them, and lobbed the miltary issue socks back at his Commander, hitting him square in the face.

"You...suck..."

OOC: Yes, we are, Omz.
IC:

The squadron of F-125s were not quite as new as the F-133 (Which embodied 'not a pound for air to ground', but like the first aircraft designed with that motto, actually could perform as a good strike aircraft), were still excellent fighters, and just as good as the F-133s in most aspects. They cleared the circling Il-76s for landing as they continued their patrol pattern around the CMC.

The Il-76s rather ungracefully came gliding to a halt across the Airfield, halting and the rear loading doors unloading. The men and vechiles remained unseen, except for the grumbling Brigadier General, Fritz Manstein who stepped out of the one farthest on the right, black uniform covered with glistening patches of silver and steel, peaked cap adjusted downward across his brow. He looked about with wonder at the vechiles and planes surronding him, feeling just a little...insignificant. Shaking it off, he dashed about, looking for someone, anyone, who could tell him what he needed to do.

Elsewhere, the Cessnas softly touched down several hundred yards away from the bleachers in a soft field, the tourists unloading and dispersing in various directions.

OOC: Well, not that much of a big post, so forgive me. Doesn't have a lot of time on my hands right now /OOC

The Omzian F-125A Rapiers (which shouldn't be mistaken with F-125s of other nations), escorting the huge C-124 and C-240 transports (which are carrying the missiles), streaked past the blue sky over the wide ocean, as they made their way towards the site of the air show. Although the Rapiers were designed for interception of high altitude and speed aircraft, this time they were flying in a 4-ship formation instead, piloted by a strange mix of people. The first pilot, Moran Januara, wasn't much of a military fighter pilot, as he was a test pilot for the F-125 program, while Lieutenant Colonel Goran piloted the second F-125. For the other two pilots, whom are in active duty however, flying at a subsonic speed isn't very exciting, as they have gotten used to supersonic cruise speeds and Mach 3 dashes in exercises and routine flying. However, the ocean was quite a sight to see, as they often flew near big cities and an endless cluster of villages.

Januara, looking at the time from his helmet mounted sight, calculated that they would probably be flying into New Empire airspace soon. As he lugged around the huge interceptor aircraft along with three of his companions, they looked towards their twelve o'clock, beyond the piece of glass that made up their HUD. It was land.

We would greatly enjoy seeing a fellow CAP member at the Cortina International.

CMC Airbase

The Marine wasn't in Class As, he was in on patrol duties. He wore his M110 BDUs, but with most of the armor plates removed. He did, however, hold a very real M32 Advanced Tactical Assault Rifle and M-17 Advanced Personal Weapon. The pistol was in his holster, though, and his rifle slung under his shoulders.

"Hey, we need this runway cleared. If you'd move your birds over to those hangars," he said, pointing, "You can park your tanks over there."

He pointed again towards several rows of UCSMC heavy armor. KA- series APCs, IFVs, and MBTs sat in desert camo, mechanics poring over them.

OOC: I'm gonna start referring to my F-125s as Gyrafalcons to ease confusion... Since I'm pretty sure Omz are more conventionally designed (in terms of wing layout) interceptor/fighter types, whereas my F-125s are swing wings with FSW flight along with canards and ruddervators.
IC:

The Gyrafalcons, as gatekeepers for Cortina, watched the F-125s come in. The planes didn't seem much like the UCSNE aircraft of the same name. They observed the interceptors for a bit, and then gave them landing permission. With the arrival of one of the more major players in Aerospace, things were certainly getting more interesting.

While the CAP members were anticipated by the UCSNE, it was Markov that was likely to cause the most intrest. New Empire had fought a war with them, then invited them to an earlier CIAS, where one of their pilots started a fight with Alex Unsel. Since then, another war had been fought, another government installed, and billions in profit made as Nightfall Systems reaped profits from the sale of the Athena equipped MF-98 Super Phoenix.

Josef nodded, smiling broadly. Well, this would turn a small profit. Humming to himself, he hurriedly rang up his secretary, giving her the orders to prepare the oil for transport.

Elsewhere, Fritz was grumbling as he reclined in his tank's turret. The planes had pulled off, and now he had to wait...

The crowd around the F-133 was getting massive. Durst had gotten a little tired of the usual FAQ and souvenir signing, and had hopped into the Valkyrie and started showing it off.

The skin of the aircraft began changing colors, and people started asking questions.

"Wait, so how can it do that?"

Durst smiled at the kid who asked, and switched the skin back to normal coloring.

"Good magicians never reveal their tricks, kiddo. Actually, it's classified. They don't even tell us."

"What are those things on the engines?"

"These?" replied Durst, rotating and twisting the thrust vectoring panels, "That's 3-D thrust vectoring. There's an F-22 over there along with some other old aircraft that have 2-D versions of it, and we'll have some Su-37s with older 3-D TV engines, but this is the latest version."

"Where are the flaps?"

"The F-133, like most aircraft since the F-109, uses Active Aeroelastic wings. Rather than using bulky and failure prone mechanical system, I can bend the edges of any of the control surfaces on the aircraft."

Durst started manipulating the system, and the aircraft's wing edges wobbled like rubber or plastic, but when people came up and touched them, they wouldn't bend.

"The Valkyrie also has rotating canards," Durst continued, "Which means we can turn faster than other aircraft. All in all, we're the most manuverable aircraft on the tarmac right now. Now if you'll step back behind the red tape on the ground, I'll show you the swing wings."

The pilot smiled. It was great being an attention hog. He almost felt sorry for those guys with half century old Phantoms.

Many unique design features include new switchblade wings and variable trapezoidal "ruddervators" similar to those seen on the earlier YF-23 prototype that flatten out during supersonic cruise. Rudder action is not aerodynamically controlled on this plane, instead the 3D thrust vectoring nozzles on the new GE F-129 engines handle all of the planes yaw control. The use of canards, a Forward Swept Wing (FSW) design and thrust vectoring makes this plane highly maneuverable.

The Valkyrie's unique wing design owes itself for better low speed control at higher angles of attack and lower landing and takeoff speeds that are connecting with carriers. The fighter's switchblade wings also dual up as decreasing width for better storage. The aircraft uses high strength thermalplastics and Boron fiber on the joints and doors of the variable geometry wings, where much stress is induced at high speeds. These doors also double up as flaps during takeoffs and landings.
This design lends itself to many low-observables features such as masked air intakes, internal bays for weapons, a blended fuselage, and many other aspects that reduce its chance to show up on radar and infrared tracking devices, and the stealth concept of same angles. The use of internal bays is a stealth one too. It has one large payload bay down the fuselage and two smaller "pop-up" bays behind the air intakes. All-composites wing; high proportion of composites and welded aluminium-lithium alloy in remainder of airframe. Extensive use of radar-absorbent coatings, including Ironball and 'Fibersteel'.

The fighter uses the high thrust, variable bypass (like the earlier GE 120 engines) General Electric F-129 turbofans, with three-dimensional thrust vectoring nozzles for increased maneuverability. The F-129 engine uses a high temperature core and high-tech combustion parts, as well as a variable bypass design that allows it to act more like a turbofan at low speeds and more like a turbojet during supersonic cruise. Despite all of this, this engine has 40% less major parts and is easier to repair and maintain than the engines of the F-125. Supercruise has been reported at Mach 2.25 during trials, with a max speed of over Mach 3. The aircraft incorporates mission adaptive/aeroelastic wings, meaning instead of using 'flaps', the edges of the wings, ruddervators, and canards bend. The canards themselves can rotate.

The fighter uses SAN/APG-95 'Have Sight' radar, which is similar to the -91, but with improved tracking/identification capabilities, a forward looking solid state pulse doppler radar with a rear looking version with about 50% of the range. Both have NPI and LPI capabilities. Forward and rearward looking IR systems are used, along with a rear looking camera. The 'Have Ray' and 'Have Light' LIDAR systems are also mounted. The latest version of Pallas Athena is mounted to aid the Valkyrie's already tiny radar signature. The TSRS (Thermal Signature Reduction System) of Blurred Edges, Flickering skins, and a cooling sheath over the engines helps lower the IR signature. Incorporated into the forward and rearward LIDAR pods are higher powered lasers for 'blinding' IR guided weapons. The F-133 can be equipped with a form of 'active camouflage', usually changing the grey tones of the aircraft to fit best with the sky around it.

Almost all of the instruments availible to the pilot are digital MFD displays, with a few key instruments in the old format in the event that the multilayered systems fail. A fly-by-light fiberoptic system is used, again with multiple 'layers' for saftey. The helmet used in the new G-suit, like on all other fighters, can be linked to any of the MFD displays or sensors for a true 'heads up display'. The F-133 is TARGETS II compatible (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=342069)

There are four internal bays, the forward two capable of holding up to four AAMs each, the rear two capable of holding up to two each. Usually, long range or heavy weapons are carried in the main bays, with the others carrying short range air to air missiles like the Python, AIM-9X, or AIM-121 Banshee. An M-75 20mm Hyveloc gatling gun is mounted under a small door in the aircraft for stealth. There are 6 additional wing pylons that can be used, usually with the EHSP pods to maintain stealth.

OOC: Well, that''d be okay, and to remove further confusion, I'll be naming my interceptors as Rapiers (the designation of F-125 is really though, for export). Imagine the Rapier basically as a heavily modified F-108 airframe with some parts resembling the MiG-25. /OOC

The bulky Rapier interceptors moved in slowly, s they gradually approached the land that is now facing them, and the transports slowly moving behind. The pilots, through the newly installed Combined Warning System (COWS), they knew that they were painted by the New Empire fighters, the Gyrafalcons - it seemed to them that the COWS upgrade by the guys at Noran is finally responding to LIDARs. Ignoring the continud "warnings" on the MFDs about approaching "threats", they instead shutted it off, and concentrated on the landing. The base below them seemed massive: even for the Colonel, who has been based on the massive Osaria-Kanze Air Base before, was astonished by the sheer size of the site.

Seeing that (as they expected) ILS was present on the base, they gradually lined up their approach with the percision that every veteran Omzian pilot has, as they gradually landed one by one, the hulks of titanium and composites touching down onto the concrete, one-by-one.

Eventually though, as the lead F-125 taxiied, Januara looked outside. The base seemed him to be as massive as ever. Expecting the Omzian delegation soon arriving by their sleek airliners, he smiled at the New Empire airman not too far from his aircraft, as he began to shut down the systems on his aircraft, before opening the goldish canopy that is above him.

Message to New Empire :

The Maurician Air Force would be honored to take part in this air show. Given permission, the aircraft carrier T.M.S. Gray with a squadron of 12 'Tyrantri' fighters and 12 'Albatross' torpedo bombers would be assigned to your show. The fighters would do a old fashionned acrobatic show. And for the nations interested, the 'albatross' could simulate an attack on their ships with torpedo duds. This encounter with another's nation ships could give our pilots much needed training. Hoping that you will accept our participation to your event.

CMC Air Base

The airman was David "Icarus" Polman, of Brunhilde Squadron. The nickname came from his experiment to see how fast the Gyrafalcons they used to fly could reach maximum ceiling, and then throw them into a dive to see how fast they could come down.

The brass would have killed him if the Allanean war didn't start two days later.

He wore the light blue dress cap, but preffered his flight jacket to the uniform. Regulations said it was ok, as long as he had some rank insignia on. He watched the Rapiers come in for landing, using his priviliges as a serviceman to get a good look at them as they came in. At first, they reminded him of the old Cold War era speed demons, Foxbats, F-14s, and the like, but he knew inside it was a different beast.

As Polman examined the Omzian aircraft, a flight crew made their way over to the group of fighters and pointed them towards their hangar.

The Republic of Markov would like to attend the Cortina airshow. We will be sending Admiral Turner of the RMNF and the CEO of the E-Tek corporation as well as Sargent Anderson to oversee flight testing. During our stay, our goal is to analyze the performance of the MF-98B (two seater) to your F-133 Valkyrie in a variety of different combat scenarios and to test our brand new SCHAF sea superiority fighter, the S/A-102 Tsunami. We will be sending five of our best fighter pilots to fly these aircraft and supercavitating craft. If you grant us permission to attend you must allow us to bring armed security personnel to guard the Admiral and Alex Lanning, the CEO of E-Tek as they could be possible terrorist targets.

OOC: It was built to have a low price. Its not meant to be complete air superiority, its meant to cater to smaller nations, as more of an ordinance plane than a Fighter, its meant to do the job of getting the missiles at the enemy, not dogfighting, etc. When you take away a few not-so-important qualities, it gets pretty cheap.

The 3 F-4Gs taxied onto the runway and takeoff turning to the left and the crowd loses track of it and then it came behind the crowd full afterburner on!
New Empire
04-10-2004, 01:35
The mechanic crews were working on their various vehicles when the F-4s screamed over them on full afterburner. They'd run out of fuel in 8 minutes at that rate, but the sonic boom was deafening. People began screaming, wondering why they couldn't hear. At the ATC, Major MacDonald, in command of flight operations, swore as the old jets thundered past.

"Who the fuck is that?"

"Ah, that was three Jackdonian senior citizens, F-4s, making a completely unauthorized low level supersonic pass over a crowd. It's chaos down there. Might want to get some medics, I bet some of them are deafened now. They'll probably sue the government."

"Bring them down."

"Roger that, sir."

Over the CMC

The pair of Gyrafalcons were on patrol duty. They were fully armed with AAMs and 20mm ammo. So they were surprised when the F-4 buzzed the crowd at altitudes well below the legal limit.

"Hey, was that scheduled? Radar says they went under the op deck."

"Wait for it..."

"Seven, Eight, we've got some jackasses buzzing the crowd. Unscheduled flight, bring 'em down."

"Roger that. I have tally."

"Eight confirms, tally on target."

The pilots looked at eachother and grinned. The aircraft's wings went from forward swept to swept back, and they dove towards the Phantoms, coming in right behind them at supercruise speed. They could go supersonic without afterburners, stay longer in the air, go faster, more manuverable, and the Phantoms wouldn't even be able to detect them on radar.

They came in behind the Phantoms, and switched the radars to ACTIVE. If one of the F-4 pilots looked over their shoulder, they'd see the blurry outlines of two F-125 Gyrafalcons, with the clear outlines of air to air missiles. The missile lock warning would also be blaring in their cockpits.

"This is Gatekeeper Seven to F-4 flight. You will land immediately. You have just performed an unauthorized low level supersonic pass over unprotected civilians, and failed to file a flight plan for such an act. We are fully armed, and should you attempt to disobey us, you have no chance of staying in the air. I repeat, land now."

Reclining in the turret of his Panther, Fritz let out a low chuckle, sliding down into his seat and closing his eyes, bathing in the warm light. Amateurs, the lot of them. They had, more likely than not, never even been in combat. Opening one eye halfway and staring at the mass of bushy hair flooding out of the driver's hatch, he was the only one on the group that had ever done so.

Shrugging, he let out a sigh, rolling over in his uncomfortable leather seat to catch a short nap before they went on parade.

The Major stormed out of the building, face red with anger. He spent about 15 minutes cursing out the other two F-4 pilots, pieces of his cigar landing on their unforms.

"Damn..." muttered a crewdog, "They just lucky they aint under his command. He'd be feeding them into turbofans by now."

"... Scare the crowd? What the hell were you thinking? You thought that'd be funny? Deafening a bunch of kids, ha freakin' ha. You rookies prolly never been in combat, have you? Fly around your thirty year old fighters, screwing around, trying to impress people. You take that attitude into combat, I've seen people like you die!..."

He then informed the prime minister his aircraft were grounded for the time being.

It happened every time. Last CIAS, it was that Markovian Carelli. Now, a bunch of nuggets and a PM who don't know the first thing about flying military aircraft.

The Omzian pilots, listening to the directions of the ground crew near their huge beasts of an aircraft, suddenly heard a massive boom. They thought that it was probably some aircraft doing supersonic passes, although it seemed to them that such passes would be unauthorized anyways, due to the buildup of civilians in the area. However, ignoring the things just happened, the OMASC "corporate" pilot, looked towards the hanger, and signaled that they are going to move towards the hanger.

As each slowly moved towards the hanger, each thought that it was a pretty big one - but still not as big as those they had seen at bomber bases. Eventually stopping their aircraft, they observed the ground crew doing their work. They expected that the crew would bring a ladder for them soon, as they opened their canopy. The stowage space at the empty WSO stations of their interceptor has proven to be very useful for their current trip. Although their dress uniforms (for the three military pilots) and their passports would probably be used later, they did not forget to include them as part of the fuel and the other documents they'd bring with their aircraft. The Colonel of the second Rapier already had a visitor's visa, but he was sure that his commanders had enough reason to give him a new visa for the particular trip.

Aboard a small freighter, her sides weather-beaten and faded, a pair of large tarpaulins sat in a recess within the well deck. The tarpaulins were an odd shape: long and flat, then a lump in the middle, like a large nipple growing on a slice of cake. On the deck nearby, six men sat around a table, talking, drinking and generally enjoying themselves.
"Standard show, yeah?" asked one of them around a piece of fish from his lunch.
"Mfesh. I won' no va' too," chipped in the man beside him.
"Care to repeat that in English?" asked a third, and received in reply a jab to his arm. "Yeah, standard show. You all checked your loads, right?" He got nods from around the table. "Right then. Nowt more to do 'til we get there." He looked up at the approaching land, a smile on his face.

It had almost been non-stop flying for the members of 516 Transport Squadron (they had stopped once at an ARSB air force base), the second of three squadrons fully outfitted with the C-380 Heavy Cargo Airlifter. All along their journey, the eight aircraft of the 516th and their twelve escort F-57Cs (of which three were unarmed besides their cannons) received periodic refuelings from other aircraft, mainly CL-17 tankers, except the occasional KC-380.

After eighteen hours of flying, they were finally within a stone's throw of the USCNE. As they approached USCNE airspace, Lieutenant Commander Dmitri Lukin, a Navy pilot, called in for permission to land, explaining what was with them. Immediately afterward, the nine escort F-57Cs banked off to be refueled before heading for the closest ARSB expeditionary fleet to land. Upon receiving the appropriate landing coordinates and airfield location, the remaining aircraft altered their courses to the landing field.

After loitering for a good ten to fifteen minutes, they were given the go-ahead to land. The C-380s were the first to land, their near 1000-ton total weight surely putting a strain on the runway and probably leaving an imprint that C-380s had been here (depressed tire tracks). The three F-57Cs circled above, pretty much ignoring the rest of the aircraft and paying attention to when it was their turn to land. After all eight C-380s had landed, the three F-57Cs dropped in behind them. The group taxiid to their assigned area with the F-57Cs parking off to the side to give the C-380s room to maneuver in.

The C-380 had to be an impressive sight at seventy four meters long and with a 90 meter wingspan. But that wasn't all, the aircraft had three wings and two fuselages. The fuselages were straddling a massive middle 'pod' that could carry 490 tons of cargo or 1200 passengers. Upon landing, load masters and their subsequent officers met with USCNE officials and gave them official load lists describing everything aboard the eight cargo aircraft.

TA-161V: 980 Civilian Passengers, 56 tons of cargo (personal belongings- screened) [Civilian Airliner Version]
TA-162: 56 Military Passengers (officers, representatives and their staffs), 360 tons of cargo (five ST-21 tanks)
TA-163: 22 Military Passengers (emergency crew), 450 tons of cargo (two SAH-24 attack helicopters, one SIV-21, two SV-90)
TA-164: 410 Tons of Fuel (Tanker Version)
TE-165: Electronic Warfare Variant- 33 crew
TR-166: Airborne Radar Variant- 46 crew
TA-167: Two SIV-21, 431 passengers (civilian and military)
TA-168: 490 tons of general cargo (mainly stuff for displays, except for seven vehicles [two MMPWV M-04, one M-11 FAV, and the rest are luxury vehicles meant for the senior staff]

Upon landing, the official government delegation from the ARSB off-loaded from their C-380 (TA-162). The most senior member of this delegation was Minister of Defense Sergei Brunov, he was encompanied by Cheif Marshal of the Army Boris Iltoyanov and Cheif Marshal of the Air Force Ivan Kerensky Kevanovich. Along with them were a few general staff members and a few dozen minor staff-members.

Representatives of Dat' Pizdy Arms Corporation were also on hand to promote their products.

So far, only passengers had been unloaded, the equipment would await inspection (or dismissal; except a single ST-21) before it was unloaded onto the tarmac and set up as displays.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Specialist Antoniy Krevlin slammed his fist against the green circular button mounted on the interior wall of the C-380 before he brought up his hands and pressed them against his helmet. He had a pounding head-ache and the noise of the winches and hydraulics weren't helping it any... He watched as the first ramp dropped, slowly filling the interior of the aircraft with light reflected off of its metal surface. He closed his eyes and waited for the familiar noise. The bell rang and he rapped his fist against the red octagonal button, stopping the hydraulic system. He turned to face an LCD panel on the wall and tapped a square button on the screen. He held in a button near a speaker (and mic) and shouted into the receiver, "RAMP ONE OPEN! GENERAL CARGO READY TO ROLL!" A green light flashed once and he nodded to himself, spinning around and waving furiously to the senior loadmaster, positioned farther into the berth of the C-380. The loadmaster flashed him an 'okay' signal before he began directing the four members of the ST-21's crewmembers down a gangway leading to the 'ground' level of the C-380. After the crew piled into the tank, the vehicle's diesel engine rumbled to life. They would need no directing on how to exit the aircraft as guidance was electronically provided.

Krevlin watched as the tank rolled back and then slid down the ramp, disappearing from view. He glanced to his left and watched as Evgeniy, the senior loadmaster, came strolling towards him, a wide grin on his face. "What the hell are you grinnin' about?" Krevlin said as he leaned against the railing.

Evgeniy lifted up his visor, "You know who I just met?"

Antoniy rolled his eyes, "Who?"

Evgeniy somehow managed to grin wider, "Josef Groza." Antoniy jarred forward, his eyes widening...

"What?! No... You must be kidding!"

"I am not. That was Josef down there in that tank, along with his crew..."

Antoniy reeled around and tried to spot the tank, which was now gone... "Dammit!" Josef Groza and his crew had been utterly popular members of the military for rather heroic behavior during operations in Buechoria and in Romakia. They were originally ST-11 crewmembers but with the new tank entering service, they were among the first to use it.

"Figures. I'm stuck doing the button work and here you're meeting celebrities..."

Evgeniy tugged on his collar, "Ahh, the perks of being senior load-master..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chief Marshal of the Army Boris Iltoyanov, upon arriving, had sent a message asking if it would be possible to live fire test the ST-21 to demonstrate its capabilities (its close in defense weapon [which can double as an anti-infantry weapon], its ATGM capabilities, its gun capabilities, and its new missile bank on the rear of the turret that is directly connected to two turreted laser designators/infrared beacons which can light up tanks dozens of miles away and fire an ATGM on them [it can also target helos and low-flying aircraft and can even designate targets for aircraft or missile strikes]).

As the Omzian F-125s approached far in front of the more sluggish C-124s and C-240s, the pilots in these even more bulkier aircraft wasn't exactly patient enough to withstand another hour of flying with their smiles still on their face. Looking through the HUD in the cockpit of the upgraded An-124, the pilot led the rest of his flight, as they skimmed past the thin air above the vast ocean, as they prepared to enter the territorial waters of New Empire. "You know, Jon, this trip isn't exactly bad," he said with the intercom microphone off, as he continued to look around his surroundings. "We get to stay at a hotel anyways. A hotel, not a motel this time."

"Yeah, maybe, sure...", the copilot replied unenthusiastically. "C'mon, we are going to see an air show," the pilot instantly snapped back, with a feeling of eagerness about their destination.

"Hey, what are we transporting anyways?"

The pilot, astronished, looked at the copilot. "You forgot what we are carrying, for goodness sakes!? We are carrying tanks. T-72s. C'mon, you need to get out of your sleep now, and concentrate on your task." Looking at the panels in the cockpit of the military transport, the copilot replied. "We are shipping T-72s!? Oh great, last time we were having these P-47s or something junk flying beside us, and now we are carrying these useless tanks."

"Actually, no," the pilot replied back, refreshing his memory. "I'd recall that the Army wanted them to be targets for their new tank rounds... AIMPAM... Er, AMPAM, yeah. Not exactly a waste of tanks. The militia's having problems with these tanks already. The Army guys there say that the new rounds blew the engine block of a T-55 ten meter away in some kind of test. That's definately a killer, I gotta assure you that."

"Ah, well then," the copilot said as he looked back. "Hey, looky there," he said as he pointed towards the leading edge of the horizon. "Isn't that land, Boran?"

"Well...", the pilot looked out and checked his MFDs. "It seems that it is land indeed. That isn't a bad trip, is it?"

The compact Gulfstream G450 cruised steadily at an altitude of 20,000 feet, flanked by a pair of F-26B Shuriken Strike Fighters, sun rays, featured in abundance on this beautiful day, glinting off their fuselages. Entering New Empire airspace, the pilot had a short conversation with groundbased air defense units, stating their nationality and their intended destination. The formation got a green light and they soared through the crystal clear, blue skies to Cortina Military Complex.

OOC: More to come later on.

"We seen conflicts you havent seen! If yuou dont let us fly tomrrow we are not giving people free ice cream bars! We want to know when we will fly again mister!"
OOC: My President isn't here... If you did that to my President, I'd gun you all down on the spot.

The Major growled, "You stupid nuggets, get your fucking hands off me! The only place you'll be flying is home."

He rasied his arm gave one a solid left hook, and grabbed the other one by the neck and pushed him away.

Two Marines, guns raised, ran towards the scene.

"Sir? What's going on?"

"The nuggets got a little upset after I grounded them." He turned towards the pilots, "I don't care what you're gonna do, you put your hands on a UCSNE officer again, I'll have your asses in the slammer."

"Alright, we need this runway cleared! Let's move!"

The crowd had gathered around the fight, and had heard the yelling. Most were glad to see the rouge pilots getting what they deserved, considering the sonic boom had deafened them not long ago. Some were cheering on the fight, but once the armed Marines showed up, the chanting stopped.

The Gyrafalcon pilots, bragging about the whole incident over the squadron net, vectored in the Omzian, Al Sabirian, and Soviet flights after making sure the runways were cleared.

With a gentle thump, the G450 touched down on the airstrip of Cortina Military Complex. Up in the sky, its two escorts performed a wide, oval, “racetrack” turn and rocketed away to a rendezvous point just outside New Empire Airspace, where they would be refueled by an airborne tanker prior to returning to the Republic.

The Gulfstream steadily taxied to its assigned parking area before dropping down a ramp from which the Al-Sabirian delegation descended.

Most of them were dressed in a formal way, their dark suitcoats and jackets complemented by white, pristine shirts and navy blue neckties. A select few wore dark cyan Air Force uniforms, all awarded ribbons and medals pinned up. You could easily identify these officers by just their body pose, erected backs and stiff shoulders. All in front, a short, sleek man, built remarkably broad across the shoulders, led the group. His name was Omar Johnson, Air Force General, a close friend of the new President, Abdullah Sharif. Firm cheekbones, as well as a unnaturaly bent nose, augmented by a pair of cold, calculating green eyes, gave him and eagle-like appearance. A daggershaped scar in his neck and a patch of scar tissue on his left hand, stiff and plasticlike, ensured that people treated him with the respect that belonged to a distinguished war veteran.

"So this is Cortina Military Complex. Impressive..."

At that altitude, if you messed with the stick, you and a bunch of tourists would be a burnt meaty paste all across the tarmac.

"Your aircraft will be on display until further notice, and that's that. Now if you'll excuse me."

The major made his way back to the ATC center, leaving a stunned crowd and a amused group of New Empire servicemen.

As the Major walked into the ATC building, a tall, white haired man stood in next to the doorway. He wore the light blue/gray uniform of an air force officer, his fruit salad only hinting at his accomplishments. Gray eyes topped off his weathered features, along with a grin.

"Think you could have been a bit easier on the rookies?"

"Not really. I'm just glad we aren't the ones that are gonna get sued. I hate lawyers."

"Well, I gotta go play diplomat for a bit. Hope they sent real officers and not suits with holsters and hats."

And with that, General Mickolai Kzerdowski made his way towards the Al-Sabir aircraft. Al-Sabir was another CAP member, the joint UCSNE-Dominion consotorium had done some missile sales with them, but other than that Kzerdowski didn't know much about the nation. --6:30 AM MST :: The Delphi military complex on the salt flats outside New Bethesda--

Four CA-980 Albatross GRA cargo planes taxied to the main airstrip and prepared for launch. The sun was just beginning to be visible over the horizon and it glinted off the shiny exterior of the brand new planes.

A series of VIPs exity the main contol building and get in 4 black vans. The vans drive them to runway 67 where a pair of VT-30 Hering VTOL transports are preparing for takeoff.

The VIPs and a squad of markovian marines board the VTOLs.

-

"Hello Admiral. We're running late...is everything ok?"

"Yes, everything is in order. They just had to make a few adjustments to the planes. Last time we went to Cortina the planes still had live ammunition from test runs and naturally some half-assed pilot had fun with it..... If all goes well, we'll be in New Empire in three hours."

The Admiral shifted around in his seat. He hated flying. He preferred a good naval battle, but, they were hard to come by anymore.

Lanning looked around the cabin of the aircraft. He stared at the marines. They wore body armor and helmets that made them look 4 times their actual size. He say back and looked at the admiral. The engines roared to life and the Admiral appeared startled for a moment.

The Admiral is the last formar Black Hand official who works with the Markovian military. He was in the 2nd New Empire - Imitora war and is the person responsible for keeping 2/3s of the military intact during the invasion. Hes extremely self-centered and he has a huge ego. During the first election after the war ended he actually tried to kick President Stillen out of Markov so he could become president. Fortunatly Stillen satisfied him the position of Admiral. He was put in control of the northern fleet. He didn't want to go to New Empire, he was told to by the President because "no one else was avalible". The Admiral knew that was bull. Stillen just wanted to get on his nerves.

Inside the other VTOL 5 pilots sat and discussed how badly the New Empirians were gonna get owned. All the pilots knew eachother. They were the best of the best. They were among the few pilots in Markov who had fought in both of the New Empirian wars. This past year they had all attended flght school at the Ansari air base in New Geneva. All of them knew that they would get a chance to fly head to head with the New Empirians.
--

The two VT-30s lifted off the tarmac and hovered about 100 feet in the air waiting for the cargo planes to get airborne.

The cargo planes lifted off one by one until they were all airborne. The VT-30s followed.

The aircraft climbed to a height of 40,000 feet and accelerated to a speed of mach 1.

The major long gone, one of the pilots looked at the Jackdonians with his eybrows cocked.

"Holy shit, nuggets," the pilot said, using the term for rookies, "Maybe you should go back to flight school. Hell, go back to high school. It's called a sonic boom for a reason. I'm surprised you kiddies can even start your engines."

"Hey, Kruger! The Markies are comin' in!"

At the mention of the slang name for the Markovians, he raced towards the runway. If a fight broke out, he wanted to be in the thick of it.

Over the CMC

The weird sixth sense pilots got using TARGETS wasn't a mistake, it was a way of helping them deal with radar contacts. In his mind's eye the tracks of the VT-30s were projected. The mental displays of TARGETS II told him that they were within engagement range. Back when he was flying F-121s into Kov during the second war, he would have been pumping missiles at this sight. It was only discipline that stopped him from giving in to his reflexes and firing. He mentally blocked out the memory of his wingman... The engine failure, the heatseeker climbing up the tailpipe... That last scream. He took a deep breath, and turned on the radio.

"Markovian flight, this is Gatekeeper. You're cleared for landing."

The voice of the pilot had little tone in it. It was kind of creepy, the others thought, that they could go on and on about the war, but whenever they met a Markovian, had to flush all the emotion out of their voices. It would be years before they could really forgive.

Wing Commander Shyle twisted in his seat for the 21st time. He'd gotten the itch just before the second refueling, which meant that he'd had to deal with it for three more. He hated long distance trips.

The government had been too cheap to send an advance party, so he didn't even know when the TerrorBirds were performing. Cortina Tower, this is Peace and Terror Lead, our flight consists of six F-22s, two KDC-10 and one C-130, requesting clearance to land. Once he was down he'd find out where they were supposed to do the ground display.

On second thought, Cortina Control, what's the frequency for the show coordinator? The parachute team wouldn't mind jumping now if there's a gap in the schedule.

--Markovian air convoy :: 20 miles from Cortina--

The VT-30s pull ahead of the CA-980s and begin their final descent.

"Roger that Cortina! We'll be on the ground in a few moments."

The VT-30s' engines slowely tilted to their vertical positions.

The two aircraft touched down 5 seconds apart from eachother.

Captain James Cruise was getting restless inside the VT-30. As soon as the doors opened he grabed his stuff and jumped off the aircraft. The rest of the pilots followed. James' long time friend, Tom Rainer walks up to him.

"Hey, dude, why so eager to get off the plane? It's just New Empire....who cares? Its not that nice a place!"

"It's not that...I just gotta fly...."

The Admiral and the CEO of E-Tek exit the other VTOL accompanied by 5 marines. They head towards the Cortina control tower.

--

The first of four CA-980s lands on the large runway on the far giht of the control tower.

Cruise notices the number 45 on it. His plane is in transport number 32.

The CA-980 taxis to a docking bay area and begins to unload its cargo. The door opens and a ramp slids down. Two F/A-67 Firestorm interceptors slid of the cargo plane. Some men emerge from the plane and rig the F/A-67s with robotic treaded movers to bring them away from the ramp. Then a Bulldog troop transport jeep drives off the ramp and parks next to the airplanes.

The second CA-980 lands on the same runway. Cruise notices immediatly that this is number 32.

Cruise breaks into a run toward the docking bay followed by Rainer.

The door opens and the ramp slides down. Cruises eyes light up.The MF-98B Super Phoenix two seater slides off the ramp. It was a truely magnificent aircraft. It's variable geometry wing were in the swept position and the sun glinted off its shiny brand-new surface.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/esankey/finalad.jpg
The robotic mover taxied it to the side were it was instantly surrounded by flight mechanics and engineers. Cruise walks over to the flight crew.

"Is this thing ready to go?"

"You better believe it! Its full of fuel and ready to go."

Cruise looks at Rainer.

"Wanna take a joy ride?"

"Uh...i dunno...don't we have a tight schedule?"

"Yeah but testing doesn't start till tomorrow."

"Rainer, shuddup, ur coming with me whether you like or not."

The two ran back to the VT-30 and got their flight gear on.

-10 minutes later on the runway-

"Final pre-flight chacks are complete...you ready?"

"Bet ur ass i am!"

The engines started and the thrust vectoring panels flexed. The wings were in the swept postion which would allow for maximum speed upon takeoff.

Cruise tapped a button on the control panel. Instantly, a HUD appeared in the smart glass of the cockpit. The virtual environment screens came to life which gives Cruise and Rainer a complete view of whats happening all around the aircraft.

Cruise takes a deep breath and pushes the throttle to to give power to the engines. The plane shoots down the runway. Then the mission adaptive wings kick in and lift the plane off the ground. Once in the air he executes a series of combat manuevers then climbes to a height of 35,00 feet.

"Rainer...im gonna take her to the limit."

Cruise pushes the throttle to full and gives full power to the engines. The aircraft instantly slams into mach 2...then 3...then to Rainer's suprise...4...4.5. He decelerates to mach 2, kicks in the vecor thrusting and nose dives toward Cortina. He pulls up at the very last minute and slows down.

"This is 04Alpha to Cortina....uh requesting fly-by..."

The one guy still at the scene gaped. He was lost for words. Not only did the pilots seem stupid, but so were the people in charge of them. He sighed and moved on.

Mickolai smiled.

"I'm sure we can... I know we have a few squadrons of Bravo and Echo model two seaters around here. Lemme get on the horn with them."

The General picked up his cell phone and dialed into the base secure net. After a quick talk with Captain Joseph Ithaka, a pilot in a squadron of F-125Bs, he flicked the phone off.

"Well General, I've got Captain Joe Ithaka waiting for you at the ready room down thataways. Suit up, and he'll be giving you a crash course on flying the Gyrafalcon."

Patrick had been in the Brunhilde Squadron hangar, suited up. He had gotten the ETA of the Markovian transports earlier, and when he heard the Phoenix rocket into the air, he hopped into the cockpit of his Valkyrie.

He listened to the flyby request and the subsequent denial, smiling. As the cockpit closed, he cycled the HUD onto the canopy, and then activated TARGETS II. The system was derived from ANTARES, but rather than allowing neural control, it fed information into the brain of the pilot. He was used to being able to see in virtually a 720 degree sphere after so many flights since the system's implementation. At a thought he could know his armarment, fuel, any information about his aircraft. He moved the wings to forward sweep for additional lift and roared off the runway. The Markovian aircraft had Athena, but it was the first version of Pallas, a Mod Alpha. The newest software had come with the Valkyrie and it's supercomputer, using carbon superconduction. He decided not to use LIDAR, but switched the SAPG-95 from PASSIVE to NPI mode, and within a few seconds the radar image, bearing, speed, and altitude of the Markovian aircraft was in his mind's eye. The radar tracks the system projected were green, nobody was tracking anything. He made sure Pallas Athena was on, and activated the Thermoptic Signature Reduction System, which helped deal with heatseeker missiles as well as the active camouflage. He manuvered over and behind the Markovian aircraft, still going subsonic and on full stealth.

He switched in to the laser datalink system with the ATC.

"Am I clear to screw with the Markie?"

"Roger that, enjoy yourself."

He grinned, and switched the radar to LPI, and then activated the missile lock. He had no weaponry, but for all the Markovian knew, it could have been one of the 'gatekeeper' F-125s.

Boy, the general was going to have his ass for this.

--

Cruise didn't get answer from Cortina. He turned arouns and looked at Rainer.

"So, I guess I'll take that as a yes..."

"Cruise...no. The Admiral will paste us for this."

Just then a red light began blinking on the HUD.

"Holy sh*t! someone has a missile lock on us! Rainer, try to find a heat signature..."

Cruise turned on all stealth and RADAR systems and accelrated to mach 3.

"Rainer, turn on MDS (material detecting sensor)!"

"I got him! Hes above us!"

Cruise decelerated to mach 1 and and went into a nose dive. He then pulled up and executed a seriers of barrel rolls.

"Switching wings to forward swept positions."

"Transformation complete..."

"Hey, Rainer, I think Cortina is gonna get its fly by afterall!"

"Uh...right...i'm still tracking the bogie...he right on our tail."

Cruise slams on the breaks and vector thrusts above the bogie. He could see the faint out line of and aircraft.

"Rainer, get a missile lock!"

"Working on it...."

"Now!"

"Got it!"

The HUD began to beep wildly signaling the lock. Cruise, satisfied, pulled away from the pursuit and lined the aircraft up with the Cortina control tower.

"Hey Rainer, you think I should ask again?"

Rainer didn't have time to reply.

Cruise slammed into mach 1 and blew past the Cortina control.

"Whoa, Cruise ur insane...exterior sensors indicate you were three feet from the tower."

Cruise smiled. He decelerated, hit the breaks and fiired the VTOL thrusters. The aircraft was now hovering perfectly still above the control tower.

"So, Rainer, you had enough for one day?"

Cruise gave partial power to the main engines and landed on the tarmac beside one of the CA-980s.

OOC: Material detecting sensors? I assume you mean EMS, but it actually doesn't work unless you're within a few hundred yards of the target, and said target is the size of a submarine... Ah well. And not so fast... Give my pilot a chance to respond to your dive. (Doesn't make sense that I'd just sit there doing nothing, knowing where you were, and let you dive, then climb above me, then get behind me, then buzz the tower, and then land) I'll assume you know he's there through visual... But you can't lock visually unless you have an optically guided (meaning the WSO steers it) missile.

I'll assume you've made the dive and are pulling up at this point.
IC:

He knew the Markovians were going to try to get behind him and identify him. They knew where he was through RWR, so he switched from ACTIVE to NPI. The Markies were kind of stupid, assuming they could just fly behind him without him noticing them and countering. As they made their nose dive, the Valkyrie waited for them to pull up. As they began to try and climb above him, he simply manuvered directly in front of them, putting his plane head on with theirs.

It was time to see if the Markovians really had balls.

Cruise pulled up out of the nose dive to find that he was heading straight for the bogie. Cruise increased speed and got a missile lock on the enemy.

"Cruise, are you nuts?! Your gonna kill us both!"

"Shuddup! I know what im doing. I went to Ansari remeber?"

"Rainer, put the exterior camera on the underside of the plane on multi-shot."

"Why?"

"Just do it...trust me...this is gonna be good."

At the last possible minute Cruise flexed the mission adaptives and the plane flipped upside down he then vector thrusted upward to avoid a crash with the bogie.

The other pilots on the ground saw the spectacle and started to yell.

"Yeah Cruise! Show that fu*kin New Empurian whos boss!"

Cruise had sucessfully flown the MF-98B upside down ove the top of the bogie and with a little luck he might have been able to ge a picture of it.

Cruise went into a another nose dive and blew past the control tower at mach 1.5. He then hit the VTOL boosters and landed on the tarmac beside one of the CA-980s.

Rainer shut down the aircraft and climbed out. The flight crew surrounded him.

"Hah ha! That was some sick shityou pulled out there captain. Are there any adjustments this thing needs?"

Cruise took off his helmet and looked at the plane briefly.

"No its fine...hey guys by the way...when you get the chance , extract the last 10 minutes of footage for the exterior underside camera. I think i got a little souvenir."

"Oh uh by the way...Admiral Turner wants to see you immediatly..."

IC:
Nodoby paid any attention to the F-22s, save for the two F-125s that descended behind them. Once again, the Jackdonians were told to land. The crowd was watching the specks in the sky and listening to the muffled sonic booms thousands of feet above them.

The UCSNE crews cheered as the Markovian aircraft veered off. The Markies had just lost the game of chicken. One of the mechanic crews called out to the Markovians.

"Ha, at least in peacetime you get a chance to wuss out when you lose!"

"Hey, Markie boys? Your pilots leave their balls on the tarmac?"

But what happened next was quite interesting. The F-133 somersaulted and accelerated, and for just a moment, Patrick ruined their glory. It was cliche, but it was damn fun. He flew directly under the upside down cockpit of the Markovian fighter, and flipped them the bird, grinning like a madman.

The Markovian picture showed the smiling victor giving the gesture that so many other UCSNE citizens had give towards Markovians in times of war and peace. The Markies had done Patrick a favor. They immortalized his victory.

He shadowed them only a few hundred yards as they landed, and then pulled up and came in for their own landing.

However, all was not well.

Apparently, the Markovians had watched Top Gun a bit too much. They forgot that in Top Gun, the aircraft were making subsonic passes. At supersonic speeds, the damage done was tremendous.

The glass of the control tower had shattered. By the time the Markovians landed, there were a pair of marines running towards the site.

"Put your hands on your empty goddamn heads!"

The marine had his ATAR raised, and a bloody gash on his face from where glass from the shattered tower had cut his face.

Before they could respond or comply with the order, the Marine swung his rifle butt into Cruise's face.

Jacob was simply stunned by the antics of the NE and Marky aircraft while a bit too futuristic for his tates they were certainly pushing the envelope. The Cobra manouvers of the Jackdonia F-22s were impressive in thier own right but fairly common place these days, at that moment his com set buzzed, it was the liason officer from his base letting him know that the crookfur contingent had just entered NE arispace and should be mereging in to the display patern fairly soon. Flicking off the phone he smiled, the jackdonians were goign to get a chance to see what a REAL manouver display looked like.

(OOC: can i assume that permission has been granted for a minimal safe height entry by my Vulcan? It will be very very load, but nothing that hasn't been experienced by anyone living under a main runway flight path).

Jacob was just fianlly find a seat in the grandstand when, after a short announcemnt concerning the noise level in the following display, the opening bars of Bomber by Motorhead (my vulcan's theme tune) began to blaze out out of the PA system. The thundering intro suceeded just masking the gradually increasing roar of 4 massive engines which began to ever so slightly vibrate the stand. As Lemmy launched into the opening line the massive form of a Crookfur Airfroce Super Vulcan sprang into eviw as it roared over head before climbing sharply up into the sky, even flying above the safety limits the might presence of the bomber was clear and drew gasps from the crowd. continuing to climb the massive bomber suddenly threw itself through a barrel roll followed by a full loop. Following a series of ever more thrilling manouvers more commonly performed by fighters the Vulcan turned away and leveled out before banking to come in low over the croud again. Begining its run as the song reached the final corus the vulcan roared along before suddenly, to the sheer delight of many observers, it waggled its wings in salute to the audience before leveling off and disappearing from veiw as the hammering beat of the song reached it's end. the crowd continued the roar with apreciation and lokked at thier watch to discover that the entire display had lasted less than 4 minutes...

And the easiest way to disprove the idea that an F-22 can carry MOABs is that the bomb ways more than it's actual payload. Not to mention the F-22 has no external hardpoints, and the MOAB is nearly as long as the thing.

The crowds again paid no attention, they were watching the fight between the Markovian pilot and the marine, as well as the firefighters poring over the damaged control tower. They did pay attention when the missile armed F-125s swooped down, bearing their missiles, and locked on to the JSFs.

The aircraft were again asked to keep out of the air, firstly because the Jackdonians were still grounded, and secondly, because they were in the middle of an emergency situation.

Another boom.

As the Omzian pilots got off the plane from the ladders, it was a completely new enviroment. They could already feel the pass of the cold air, as the vastness of the hangar left a shadow among part of their aircraft. As they doubted that the New Empire aircrew know anything about the maintenance of the big bodied interceptors, the OMASC pilot looked around beside the wingtip of one of the massive wings of the Rapier interceptor. "What's with these supersonic booms!?", the Colonel asked, as it seems like that he did not direct his question to anyone in particular. The OMASC pilot looked up, and said, "I'd guess someone didn't read the restrictions. I'll be shuddering if they do the same at their own base."

"Well, perhaps that's certainly true," one of the two Majors replied back. Looking at the Colonel, he thought about something for a moment, and then moved his lips again. "Well, sir, do you think we can follow the schedule and perform the live fire?." Looking at the sky, he remarked, "I personally have a feeling that the flights are late and are behind schedule."

The Colonel, who turned his head back and looked, replied a few moments later. "Well, I'm sure they'll be here soon. They have the target drones and the missiles anyways, and if the New Empire people does allow us to do a demostration, we are going to have some work done. I personally still don't quite know why they decided to bring the other two pilots and the WSOs with the delegation team, but we'll see."

"...already ten minutes late..."
"Well I told you not to have that third bowl!"
"I thought I could take it!"
"You always say that..."
"...shit! The ground's being used!..."

Six tired men, their eyes red-rimmed, were stealing through the showgrounds in search of the large open space they needed to run their particular event. Dressed in their camouflage tanker's uniforms, they were rather out-of-place among the crowds of civil types, drawing curious looks from them as they passed, arguing among each other. They were already late for their appointed performance time, and had no clue wher said performance was going to happen. To cap it all off, at least one of the six crewmen was still just a little bit tipsy from the night before.

It was not going to be a good day.

"Hey wait! Whassat?" shouted the semi-drunken driver of the second tank. "Looks like the place!"
"Eh?" asked his companion.
"There! Bloody great open field. That has to be it. Look!" he insisted, gesitulating wildly with both arms. A pair of young women who had been heading in their direction veered off to the right so hard they fell over a man selling hotdogs, sending pig intensines and artificial sauce flying.
"Ivan, that's a bloody farm!" exclaimed Ivan's gunner.
"Oh."
The commander put his head in his hands.

"THIS IS FUCKING MADNESS!"

The Major shambled up from the ATC, taking his fingers and plucking a shard of glass out of his arm.

"I swear, I'm going to shoot down the next piece of shit that buzzes supersonic. WHO THE HELL AUTHORIZED THAT?"

"Nobody, sir. They just took off and started screwing around."

"Actually, I think the Marines are beating you to it."

The major wheeled around to see the trooper who had slammed cruise in the face with the ATAR, and groaned.

Yet another postwar PR success.

One of the few marines too far away to not be crowding around the damaged Control tower or the fight breaking out looked at the tankers with intrest. It was like a scene out of Skippy's List (skippyslist.com). He decided to intervene before it got worse.

OOC: yeah...top gun is great movie....

They also did hovering above the field, and they did lots of mock dogfights with the F-4s and the F-4s lost every single time, and they also gave rides in Jackdonian C-141Cs,and that was popular, the the Jackdonian Flight Demo Team the Golden Eagles, which had F-5As did lots of tricks like the echelon roll and the barrel roll, and the triple loop
Later in the day after they landed, they did autographs and sold patches, and they gave people free gift certificates to the resturant of thier choice, and they sold litographs of F-35s and the Bae Hawk, for only $1.25 a litograph, which the crowd loved, and then they gave their profits to chairity, and they gave some of it to the President of New Empire.

Cruise fell to the ground and clutched his face. Rainer reached for his side arm but the other pilots pulled him back.

The Admiral and the markovian marines emerged from the Cortina control center. Two of the marines went over to Cruise and the others stayed with the Admiral. The admiral approuched Rainer.

"Just because Cruise is out doesn't mean testing will end. Mcdonald, get over here. You will be filling in for Cruise."

Kevin Mcdonald smiled he had wanted to fly an MF-98 sersies aircraft ever since he first laid eyes on the prototype.

"C'mon Cruise, get ur ass up!" one the marines yelled.

Cruise stood up. One of the mechanics pushed his way through the crowd and handed Cruise the picture of the New Empirian aircraft. The picture had come out perfectly, but it wasn't exactly what he wanted. The pilot was grinning and almost appeared to be looking up at the camera. Cruise crumple the picture in his hand.

"Dude, what were you thinking?" Rainer said as the marines took Cruise away.

The Admiral turned to Mcdonald.

"Begin flight testing right away...and for god's sake, get this damn aircraft into the hanger!" He said motioning to the MF-98B

"But, I thought the testing started tomorrow."

"I wish. The TF committee called me a said they wanted to squeeze to some more testing into out rather short stay here. Have the MF-98B in the air in 15 minutes. And, don't worry I'll talk to Cortina control...the Valkyrie will be up there too."

"Yessir"

The Jackdonian aircraft never got the chance to land. After violating the order yet again, and nearly killing the paramedics as they took off in the middle of an emergency, a KAI-40B Fox IFV drove onto each runway. The Jackdonians were told to leave UCSNE airspace. If they managed to land without runways, they would be arrested and their planes confiscated. Any other Jackdonian personnel on the ground would be flown out of the airshow via an airline flight from a nearby civilian airport.

The Marine's eyes were full of hate as he whipped the butt of the rifle back.

"And the next one's for my brother, you shi-"

The hand of the sergeant on his throat quickly silenced him as he was thrown on his back.

"Goddamit Roberts, I hate them as much as you, but show some fucking control here."

"Sorry... Sir..."

Over the loudspeaker, the voices boomed,

"Attention, the airshow is closing for the day. All people not members of a delegation are asked to leave the area. Thank you, and we hope to see you tomorrow. All aircraft will remain on the ground until we can get the ATC fixed up."

The sun was beginning to set, the clouds and sky tinted orange. As the men began to clean up, a second announcement came around. All the delegation members would be given the oppurtunity to attend a dinner, but most of the low end officers and everyone else chose to take the night on the town.

"Damn it, the airshow's closing early today, eh? I guess we'll have to postpone that Gyrafalcon ride until tomorrow, too bad, but there's a positive side too, now I have the chance to collect some vomit bags before my flight,"

"Anyway, General, could you direct me to that dinner? I didn't have the pleasure of completely familiarizing myself with CMC yet,"

"Well, if it wasn't for the various people doing supersonic passes within three feet of the ATC... I really have to apologize. Usually the guests have some control...

"In any case, the dinner will be held at the Angelus Memorial park at the port. I need to be getting there myself."

He walked with Omar towards the airfield motor pool and hopped into a jeep.

"There'll be shuttle services from here in a few minutes for everyone else."

He started driving, the marines opening the gates to the road towards the port. The area was located on one of the cliffs overlooking the sea. As they drove, the sun continued to sink, and the various navigation lights appearead. The silhouette of the 'Labyrinth' complex was visible, as well as the port.

Angelus Memorial was built in honor of Admiral James Angelus, a commander of the United City States in the reunification war of the '40s. He had pioneered carrier warfare in New Empire, and his effort had ultimately won back all the islands around the mainland.

As the gates opened, the park was lit up and full of people. a circle of dining tables and outdoor cooking areas were set up around a massive marble statue of an intricately detailed Reunification War era carrier, and it's battlegroup, complete with tiny aircraft. Various officers of all four UCSNE services were there, as well as some of the others starting to be shuttled in.

--5:45 AM NEST:: Tesy day 1 :: "Missile Avoidance"--

The sun was just beginning to come up as the MF-98B taxied to runway 87. Two F/A-67s taxied behind the MF-98.

The Admiral was in the control tower with Mr. Lanning overseeing the testing.

"04Alpha, this is Turner, you are clear for take off. Once airbourne, climb to a height of 10,000 and holf at mach .5. And, please, for god's sake don't do anything stupid up there."

Mcdonald tapped on the comlink button.

"Roger that Admiral."

He looked back at Rainer.

"Why do they make us come out here at this time of day anyway?"

"Because they assume you went to Ansari...and got a good nights sleep."

Mcdonald frowned, activated the HUD and started the engines.

"Enable all stealth systems and sensors."

"Athena...online. Shade II...online. XTI-11..online...."

Mcdonald shutoff the main engines and gave full power to the VTOLs.

The MF-98B lifted off the tarmac and hovered. Then, Mcdonald gunned it, accelerating to mach 1 and climbing at a 45 degree angle. Rainer looked down at Cortina via the WHUD and saw the F/A-67s liftoff.

"The two camera ships are away." Rainer told Mcdonald.

The two F/A 67s pulled up behind the MF-98.

"So...I wonder where the missiles are gonna come from."

"Cortina will most likely fire HM SAMs at us or something."

Mcdonald switched his helmet to "comlink".

"This is 04Alpha to Cortina control. Cortina do you read?"

The deep voice of the Admiral came over the comlink.

"04Alpha, this is Turner, hold your current speed and postion. The Valkyrie should be up shortly. Then testing will begin."

As the Markovian pilots took off, Patrick looked over the armarment of the aircraft.

"What the hell are these?"

"AIM-100s, modified Israeli Python Fives."

"P5s? How many?"

"Twenty Four..."

"Jesus... So that gives me a twenty mile attack zone... And the -100 is thrust vectored, correct?"

"Yup... And you don't even need to lock on. IR/LIDAR guided, LOAL."

"Nice. Almost as good as having a Banshee or Spearhawk, but this will work."

The Markovian took off, and soon after, the F-133 was coming up after it. He checked to make sure all the stealthing systems were on, and approached from above and behind at 10 miles. He was using the TOSR, and the gray tones of the aircraft switched to a bright white. It would be basically impossible for them to be seen visually at that range.

Patrick smiled as he armed the first six missiles. He knew the Markies had an AI missile avoidance system, but that wouldn't always be good enough. He'd fire them in quick succession. While the aircraft was manuvering to avoid one missile, the next would come in from a different angle to hit it.

The first 6 Python Six hopped from their EHSP pods on the wings, and activated their rocket motors. They would home in based on the NPI radar of the launching aircraft through datalink, as well as their own LIDAR and IR systems. There would be no 'missile lock' for the system to warn the Markovians of.

"I'm still not sure we're going the right way", commented the gunner idly. He had a point. The two pilots had no idea the F-133 was in the air. THey expected to get a call from the admiral signaling for the test to begin. The AI was, however, tracking the missiles. Inside the aircraft the HUD began to blink red and an alarm sounded. Before Mcdonald knew what was happening, the AI auto-manuevered the plane to avoid the first two missiles. Rainer was the first to react.

"We're being engaged! The Valkyrie is engaging us!"

"Yeah?! No sh*t!!"

Mcdonald accelerated to mach 2 and enabled a virtual 3rd person HUD mode. He was now able to see the MF-98, the incoming projectiles, and the projected path of the projectiles all from a 3rd person view.

"We have 6 missiles incoming!"

"Rainer,shuddup and sit tight!"

Mcdonald switched the AI off and turned on all the stealth systems. He dodged and evaded the missiles using the VHUD, losing some of them when he turned the stealth systems on. While at mach 2 he went into a nose dive and turned thw ings to their swept positions on the fall. He pulled up and gave full power to the engines in an attempt to lose the missiles by simply going faster than the missiles. It worked. He had lost all but 2 of them. Mcdonald slammed on the breaks and gave power to the VTOLs. With the aid of the 3D vector thrusting he was able to turn the aircraft 180 degrees to face the missiles. He accelerated straight toward them at mach 2.5. At the last possible second he vector thrusted downward with the aid of the mission adaptives and seemingly avoided the missiles. Mcdonald disengaged the VHUD and loosened up.

"Yeah! We did it!" he said as he turned off the stealth systems.

"Actually...we did get hit. You got too close to one of the missiles on that last manuever. Apparently those things detonate at between one and two dozen yards from contact form the aircraft. You should have vector thrusted earlier. It wasn't any major damage though. You just lost a vertical stabilizer. And don't relax too much. The valkyrie is likely to fire more."

Mcdonald stiffened up and turned on all the sensors, stealth systems, and the AI.

"Keep sharp! I'm putting the wings back into their forward swept postions."

OOC: Callsign for this operation is Zulu One... And BTW, most missiles have proximity detonation fuses. And I only launched six missiles...

Don't try flying towards the missiles (where did you get that idea from? makes no sense)... They can turn much harder than you, and just turn and hit you in the fuselage while you dive, so the closer you get, the worse off you are... It's very difficult for planes to evade missiles through manuvering alone.
IC:

Patrick smiled. From this range, all the manuvering in the world would have trouble helping them. He armed the next six AIMs and popped them off in sucession. The missiles would not just travel in a 'projected path', they'd adjust their thrust vectored engines and if necessary could perform 30 G turns, to hit their target.

So when you say "it'll be difficult thought manuevering alone" does that mean i could use HELLADS or chaff to take them down?

OOC: Chaff won't work... These are IR and LIDAR guided missiles. HELLADS will work if you fly towards the missiles and fire (but of course it makes you vulnerable.)

You can use whatever you have on the plane.

OOC: The MF-98B has a smaller 150Kw HELLADS pylon in the back of the aircraft...so i don't need to turn around.

IC:

"Mcdonald, get ready, the AI is tracking 6 more projectiles engaging from above us!" Rainer said.

"Got it!"

Mcdonald went into a nose dive and turned on the VHUD.

"Rainer, charge HELLADS system B!"

The MF-98 accelerated to mach 2.5. Mcdonald was having trouble evading the missiles. They were outperforming the MF-98 both in speed and manueverability, but with the help of the AI Mcdonald was able to hold his own...but not for long.

"Rainer, hows it going with the HELLADS?"

"I need 30 more seconds!"

"We don't have 30 more seconds!"

Then suddenly Mcdonald had an idea. He remebered that the MF-98B unlike the A variant was capable of flying in the upper thermosphere of the earth. He quickly switched the wings to swept and pulled straight up. He kicked the engines into overdrive and the MF-98 shot upward at mach 3. He didn't expect the missiles to be able to follow, but if they did, Rainer had a nasty little suprise for them. The plane stalled at 100 miles above the earth. Mcdonald cut the engines and went into a free fall.

"Rainer, were are those missiles?!"

"No clue. HELLADS is ready though."

"Theres two of them at ten o' clock!"

Mcdonald straightened the aircraft out and turned the engines on in PDE mode. He slammed into mach 2 to put some distance beween the missiles and the aircraft.

"Am I clear to use HELLADS?!"

"Yeah."

A holographic VHUD appeared in front of Rainer. He was tracking the missiles with a thermal imager and a targeting system.

"I've got one locked! I'm taking the shot!"

Almost as soon as he pulled the trigger, an invisible beam of heat hit one of the missiles and knocked it out of the sky. Rainer turned his sights on the other missile. With relative ease, he targeted it, and destroyed it.

"Missiles neutralized!" He declared.

"Theres the other four! They're heading right toward us!"

Mcdonald veered away from the missiles. They were coming in too fast for HELLADS. He slammed on the breaks, opened up the mini missile pods and fired about 12 missiles at the targets. Three of the four missles were instantly taken down. The fourth was still on course. With the wings swept, Mcdonald pushed the MF-98 to mach 3 in a 45 degree climb.

"Rainer, you think you can target that missile with HELLADS?"

"I can sure try!!"

The remaining missile swerved about widly which, needless to say didn't make it any easier for Rainer to it shoot down. After about 20 seconds of chasing the missile around the VHUD with the targeting system, Rainer got a lock. He pulled the trigger and the missile was instantly vaporized.

Mcdonald decreased speed and fell to an altitude of 10,000 feet.

"This is 04Alpha to Cortina. Do you copy Cortina?"

"This is Turner. Well done. Returned to base. You will be back in air later for testing the Valkyrie."

"Roger that Admiral."

OOC : Please keep in mind that this was during the ''control tower'' accident. It doesn't influence it anyway.

The messager was slowly driving a staff car toward Cortina Control, flight plans in a fat yellow envelope on the passager seat. A kind of duel was going on over Cortina, and they were sometimes too low over it for comfort. As the planes went over and behind him, he stayed concentrated on the road and drove a little slower due to the number of people being around.

As he was nearing the control tower, some plane went right over him with a deafening boom and nearly crashed into the control tower breaking most windows in sight. Surprised, he lost control of his vehicule, that turned right and missed a tree only to crash in a small maintenance concrete building.

As he regained some kind of concience, he felt a big bump on his forehead.

'' Aughh.. that's going to leave a mark. ''

Cursing at the pilot that caused this, he looked around to see a guy in a flightsuit getting smacked by some soldier. He also saw ambulances, firetrucks and a rather angry looking crowd.

Thinking about it, the messager decided to just get back to the ship and report to the captain about that…. turn of events. Taking the keys of the now unusable car by force of habit and the flight plans, he made his way back to the ship on foot, wondering if getting assigned to travel to this place was a good thing afterall.

Weapons systems:
>One 25mm SRK-110 "Mauler" hyper velocity gatling cannon mounted under cockpit
>One Markovian made "Avenger" anti-aircraft HELLADS (High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System) rated at 305 Kw per one pulse mounted in front of the cockpit along the nose.
>15 (concealed) modifiable munitions bays: 8 forward mounted mini missile compartments + 7 underwing MRM/LRM bays
Uh, you do not have a back pointed HELLADS. And you never mentioned this modification earlier... And you'd have trouble fitting one there anyway. That's like putting another gun and it's ammo inbetween the engines. You never mentioned any of these modifications, and doesn't it seem somewhat odd they suddenly appear during the missile testing? Gimme a break.

And last time I checked, I still have twelve more missiles.

New Empire

OOC: It'd have to be much, much larger and therefore slower. Fine then... But now you'll have to deal with 12 more missiles.
IC:

With the Markovians using a rear mounted HELLADS, they decided the best angle of attack would to come in from above, where the Markovian HELLADS couldn't reach without risking damaging its own vertical stabilizers. The F-133 had this advantage: The Markovians couldn't shoot down the launching aircraft. And with their fuel running low, they couldn't risk trying to outrun the still stealhed Valkyrie.

He climbed and then dove towards the MF-98 at Mach 3, as he reached less than a half a mile, he opened all the bay doors and fired the missiles. The AIM-100, like the Israeli Python 5 it was based on, had a speed of Mach 4. There was no way the Markovians could get all twelve at that range and speed. Satisfied, he pulled up and flew over the aircraft, leaving them with his parting dozen missiles and a tad of jetwash.

Admiral Watergate looked at his watch again, tapped on the shoulder of his driver and asked him to drive faster. He hated to be late or behind schedule. That's why he was commanding the Gray Taskforce, he would usually complete his objectives on time, except if everything was against him and his crew. He even sometimes took needless risks to win those little minutes.

As the car passed the windowless control tower, he hoped that the diner would pass without any accident. He passed for the umphf time his principal mental note : ''Do NOT sit between New Empire and Markovians officials unless you want to be in the middle of a foodfight.''.

Cortina looked like a nice town, if you forgot that the giant military base was a prime target for all sorts of attacks. The car slowly braked until it passager door was in front of the reception hall door. Bluewater got out and walked to the door. Not knowing much about anyone inside, he was a little nervous. He took a deep breath, pushed the doors and got inside.
