Nuclear Threat within Christimiles

Christimiles
02-10-2004, 19:22
From the Office of the Head Pastor
The Theocracy of Christimiles

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are asking for your prayers and thoughts in a crisis that is threatening our nation. One of our police patrols was all but wiped out yesterday as it discovered a Hindu hide-out inadvertantly during a routine patrol. Hindu terrorists, upset at our policies that aid mostly Christian families and industry, threw this great country into disarray not very long ago, and is the reason we ceased to exist for several months.

An elite missionary force trained in cover operations and intrigue is being formed as we speak to infiltrate and deal with the terrorists. May God be with us and bless us. May He help us find a way to deal with these terrorists in as peaceful a manner as possible. We wish that no one will die, but this direct threat to our government must be dealt with immediately.

Thank you.

--WE INTERRUPT YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING FOR THIS SPECIAL NEWS REPORT--

A news anchor appears, and shuffles some paper before speaking. "Fighting has broken out in Charleston, Christimiles today as Hindu activists and terrorists began to ravage the country side. The police held the terrorists at bay as long as they could, but were overrun a little over an hour ago. At last count 246 lives have been lost, 125 policemen, and--wait, this was just received by our mail room."

<a crudely made tape is placed into the VCR and a group of armed Hindus is seen--the apparent "leader" steps forward to address anyone watching the cassette>

"I am Shakalaka, rishnu of the Bleeding Heart. We demand that your Head Pastor cease his discrimination of any religion except Christianity, and that a religious council be created within Christimiles to see that every religion is treated equally! We are tired of our people being belittled in the street, and we are sick of watching the most high and holy cows being slaughtered for your food! Cattle are the cleanest, holiest, and highest creature of the earth, and Shiva is not pleased! She has called for US, the Bleeding Heart, to be her hand on earth!

If you do not submit to our demands, we will be forced to show our power to you. We will detonate a nuclear bomb here, in Charleston, Christimiles. We are locking the city gates at this very moment--make no attempt to free the citizens. If you do not agree to our demands in two hours time, we will detonate and kill the 1.3 million people living in this nice little Christian town.

Two hours--no more!"

<as the tape ceases, Shakalaka's eyes seem to glow with hatred, and for a second, just a second, the seem to turn red>

The news anchor sits stunned for a second, then regains his focus with a shake of his head, and turns to address the camera. "Well . . . ummm, there you have it! Christimiles has two hours to reply to the Bleeding Heart's demands or Charleston will be nuked, an act that will surely have affects on all surrounding cities of Greenville, Transylvania, and Gettysburg. We will keep you informed as more information comes in. Until then, pray!

God be with us."

With that the news fades out.

The Theocracy of Christimiles

Dear Citizens,

The time given for us to respond to the Activists' demands has come . . . and gone. No word has been received from our insertion team that was sent in to deal with the situation, but because there has been no explosion we must assume that they were successful. I will send word once I know, for sure, what has happened during the time that has elapsed.

Thank you all for your prayers, and we ask that the Lord above protect our team as they attempt to come home, if they indeed are still alive.

A four-man rescue team is being assembled at this very moment to move into the city and see what remains. Since the city gates were locked we have also lost all communication with those being held captive. Before we lost contact with the insertion team they informed us that the citizens of the city had not been mistreated, and that all of the communication dishes and radio transmitters within the city had been destroyed. That knowledge, however, is several hours old now, and all we can do is hope the rescue team can locate the survivors of the insertion team, if indeed there are any.

Please continue to pray, and I will immediately pass to you any information we receive here in the capitol.

Thank you.

Mr. President,
This story of Nuclear threat reminds us of our own past. We will help if you request it. We have moved A Battalion of two hundred Legionaries near to your borders and we request that you allow us to send two of our finest Raven Special Ops men in to help with the rescue attempt. This threat of Nuclear War is too much for Opinno to stand anywhere. We request to help.

Dear Nations,

We are overwhelmed by the response to our crisis. Thank you, all of your, for your offers of assistance. Please know that the nations of Greater Prussia, our home region, are equally distressed. It appears that the nuclear situation is under control, as the city has not dissappeared off of the face of the earth.

The present concern is the lack of contact with our Insertion Team, and is the reason the Rescue Team is being assembled. We would be honored to include to of your Raven special operatives, Oppino, and they are welcome to meet the Rescue Team in Greenville, just to the west of Charleston.

Sovriegns, thank you for your concern. Please know that our nation is well under control, and is the reason we were able to avert this catastrophe so quickly. If our police had not discovered the hideout when it did, the Hindu Activists may have been allowed more time to gain more support and supplies from whomever is helping them. We do not yet know where they gained access to a nuclear weapon, or even if they ever truly had one to begin with. This is all information that we hope the Rescue Team can discover.

Oppino, send your Raven operatives quickly. The Rescue Team goes over the city walls in less than an hour's time!

The best everyone else can do is pray. Pray for the protection of the citizens of Charleston and for the safe return of the Rescue team and all they find.

Dear President Griffin,

You humble our nation without end. Thank you, so much, for your offer, but in your present condition of health that last thing you need to have on your mind is this small crisis. Please continue to prayer, and if we should require your marine forces I promise to personally visit you to discuss that option.

Your Brother and Neighbor,

Dear Sovreign,

Thank you for your offer, but we would hate to deprive you of 200 of your own peacekeeping forces! With a meager population of six million people, that has to be a fair number of your own army, and you will surely need them for your own national security. Your offer reflects the heart you have towards the safety of others, but you must not neglect your own citizens. You may keep your forces on standby, if you so wish, but we do not believe they will be needed. We will, however, give them proper honors when they arrive as diplomats of your nation. They will be treated well, their transports fully fueled and stocked, and we will ensure that they enjoy their short stay within our borders.

May this be the start of a wonderful friendship between our two nations.

I am worried about the current threat within your borders. Although we may not see eye to eye on every topic, I'm sure we agree that the saftey of your nation and the world is of utmost importance. I have currently a task force in nearby international waters. One Lakota Class Aircraft Carrier, 5 Niyau Class Guided Missile Cruisers, 10 Lowe Class Destroyers and 12 Broadsword Class Cutters. We are able to strategically hit enemy targets from either the cruisers or carrier. Please respond to this communication and relay coordinates of enemy strongholds.

Dear General Bragg,

Yes, the greater good does demand that we place our differences aside. Thank you for your offer, we appreciate it more than you can know. I will keep your offer in mind, should the need arise.

At the moment, we believe that the Hindu Activists are no longer a present threat, and the real concern is the safety and well being of the Insertion Team. If a stronghold becomes evident, you will be one of the first to know.

Please continue to pray--that is the most we ask of other nations at this time. We are awaiting the arrival of the two Raven Special Operatives from the Nation of Oppino before announcing the names of the Rescue Team, and the deployment of the mission to see what has happened within the city walls of Charleston, Christimiles.

Jon Patterson and Steve Greenleaf hadn't been working together long. In fact, this was their first mission together. They were both Operatives in Opinno's Raven Special Ops or RSO. Jon was a green-hand, having just come from highschool. But he had always had a knack for stealth. And that was just what this mission called for. He thought he didn't even need his partner of 38 winters, with his loud, dirty, obnoxius Browning m2hb 50 cal. Heavy Machine Gun. All he needed was his p90 submachine gun with its silencer and he couldn't be stopped. Perhaps this was just his young eagerness, but he wanted to work alone and defeat these Hindu bastards by himself. But that wasn't his mission. He was to stay with Steve at all costs as they looked for the insertion team that had gone missing hours ago. They arrived at the appointed place early as Steve always did and forced Jon to do. They waited for patiently the locals.

Jason Baccus sat patiently, waiting for news of the two special operatives to arrive. Jason was not too thrilled about accepting help from an outside force, but certainly if they could prove useful he would give them every chance to prove themselves worthy.

The door to Jason's quarters opened quickly, and a tall, stocky gentleman with a mustache stepped in with a harumph. "No word yet?" Jason shook his head and allowed a smile to spread across his lips as Sergei shook his head and sat down heavily upon the couch facing Jason's leather chair. He had worked with Sergei for several years, taking two bullets for the oaf and more than one close call. When Jason had been chosen to lead the Rescue Team to find Davide and the others sent to end the Hindu threat there was no one Jason could think of than Sergei to help. With the lack of communication within the city, a radio waves expert would be necessary, and there were few better than Sergei within the whole of Christimiles.

The intercom crackled and ordered everyone outside. "Finally!" Sergei proclaimed, standing and following Jason outside. Dr. Parker Johnson, Deacon of Foreign Affairs was standing at the podium and beckoning for Jason and Sergei to join the rest of the Rescue Team. The sun was glaring down upon them as they moved through the crowd of missionaries and locals from the surrounding cities. A smart salute was offered by the Peacekeeping forces sent by the Holy Republic of Sovriegns, and Jason returned it, Sergei only half-heartedly. Neither had heard of this Republic before, and had a natural mistrust of them. Jason glanced at the horizon as he neared the podium and noticed that there were practically no clouds in the sky today. A perfect day to glorify the Lord.

A perfect day to discover death and mayhem at your doorstep.

Sergei took a seat beside Timothy while Jason shook hands with Phillip and introduced himself to the two Raven operatives. They seemed pensive and nervous, but polite nonetheless.

Dr. Johnson cleared his throat into the microphone and the crowd slowly silenced itself. "Well, the time has come. May I introduce the Rescue Team of Christimiles, charged with finding the Insertion Team and returning order to the city of Charleston. They will be lead by Jason Baccus, " Jason stood, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers and whistles. "And assisting him will be Sergei Sadaak, Timothy Donald, and Phillip Karlson." The crowd applauded with each name, then Dr. Johnson turned to the two Ravens. "And joining our little team are our honored guests, Jon Patterson and Steve Greenleaf!" The crowd stood and applauded raucously. After several minutes, Dr. Johnson continued. "We ask the rest of you to pray, now. Only God can see them safely through the Hell they are about to enter. Well, Jason. Are you and your team ready?"

Jason stood, glanced at his countrymen, then looked intently at the two Raven Operatives. They slowly nodded, and Jason returned his attention to the podium. "Yes, Dr. Johnson. We are ready to fulfill our national duty."

"Very well, Jason. May God be with you."

Jason stood, and the rest of the team followed as Jason led them into the woods filling the void between the two cities of Greenville and Charleston.

OOC: nice job wit that post

IC: Jon was timid. Not because of fear but because of excitment. This was what he was made for. Walking silently through the forest, with not a sound but him and his team.

He looked up towards Jason Baccus. He had liked the man. He looked like the kind that would talk a bullet even for outsiders. He wasn't sure about the other one though. He was too quiet. He reminded Jon of Steve. Quiet in voice but loud in battle. Jon could tell Sergei would do his job.

Steve was thinking the same thing. He trusted these men but he couldn't shake a feeling of death around him. He sensed somthing was near but he couldn't tell what. He turned to Jason and asked how much farther until they got to the city.

Jason nodded forward and replied, "Not too far. We're going to stop at the clearing ahead and discuss our entrance options."

Jason walked to the center, and the rest of the team surrounded him. Finding a tree stump a little off-center, Phillip unfolded a map of the city ahead, and everyone stooped in to read it over.

"Alright, men, the Insertion Team entered here." Jason pointed to a section of the city wall on the west side. "I assume Davide would make sure their equipment was properly picked up, so we will have to rely on our own devices. There are two portions of the wall that were blown out during the original insurgance here, and here." Jason pointed a little down the wall from the insertion point, and then to a portion of the northern wall. "We could risk sneaking into one of those holes, but I would assume that they would be the more heavily defended areas. Assuming, of course, that the Hindus are still around. It is possible, and very probable, that no one is protecting those hole anymore, but then why hasn't anyone left the city?"

Timothy spoke up. "Jason? If there are Hindus protecting those holes, shouldn't we at least make an attempt to remove those threats?"

"If the insurgents were removed," Sergei added, gruffly. "that would allow an exit for the citizens. Getting them out of harm's way would make our task slightly easier."

"Yes, that is very true. But, that action could also cause uprisings against the citizens too far away from the breach." Jason thought for a second, then turned to Steve. "Do you have any thoughts, Raven?"

The news was slow that day, even with the problems in Christimiles. No longer could the network get any up to the minute reports, what it used to be famous for; all the old reporters had been killed in action, or had long since retired, sans a few limbs. The newer ones, they were all kids, frightened and never leaving the news van unless needed. In a desperate attempt to boost ratings, they had hired a new newscater, a women with breats that looked large enough to provide shelter for several from Nuclear attack, and hair the color of flowing grain in the open fields. Of course, she also had the brains of a field of grain...

"...and that, Tom, is why I like puppies. Puppies are so cute! I've been thinking of getting one! I'll name it Fuzzy and love it to death! It'll be a Siamese!"
"Uh...Bonny, I think Siamese is actually a type of cat..."
"Tom, that's brilliant! I can breed a Siamese dog with some sort of cat, to get Siamese cats! We'll make millions Tom, milli- Oh, what is this? We seem t ohave some breaking news, an exclusive for this station!"
"Thank God, something, anything, so I don't have to hear you babble..."
"What was that Tommy?"
"Nothing, just commenting on how your brilliant skills should get you promoted to a different, more viewed spot!"
"Aw...thanks Tom, talk to me after work, okay hun?"
"..."
"Well, this is a video from the People's Republic of Newdoria..."

As the screen faded to the video, one could barely make out Tom swearing under his breath, rubbing his brow, as Bonny knocked over a glass onto him in her enthusiasm to give him a hug.

Appearing on the screen was a man standing behind a massive, red oak desk in a small, eggshell white room, a window behind him giving the viewers at home a glimpse at the Newdorian mountians, covered with snow year round, and full of furry animals. The man himself was clothed in a large double breasted overcoat, dark grey, with the collar flipped out, covering his mouth and cheeks, hiding them from view. His dark, piercing eyes stared into the camera from behind his spectacles, as he brushed aside a few looks of wild red hair, and began speaking.

"Christimiles has been under attack recently by terrorists threatening to destroy a key city with a Nuclear weapon. This much, you probaly know."

"Yet, somehow, key facts, key figures seem to be missing...I mean, a normal person does not wish to unleash hellfire and radioactive brimstone upon his neighbors and fellow countrymen, does he? Well, something has driven these men and women to this point, and it's something that is a damn shame, a violation of all that is unity and peace!"

"You see, the Hindus within Christimiles are oppressed, spat upon, denied work, hated. These "Christians" resort to violence and terror to hold back peaceful protestors! They are being hunted down like dogs, because of their faith!"

"I henceforth declare asylum for all refugees from that vile land, one step away from Nazism and working towards eliminating the impure! You will find what you are seeking in Newdoria! We are preparing places for you to stay, jobs for you to work, classes for your children to learn! You will no longer be second class citizens!"

"Commisar Josef Gafencu...signing off."

As the video faded, Josef could be seen sitting back down, his thoughts invisible to all but himself. How much of that was true, how much a lie...?

The Newsroom once more appeared on Televisions across the country, Tom and Bonny straight faced and calm.

"In other news..."

heh heh heh thought Jon, My turn Then he spoke.

"If I could sneak in one of those holes and open the gates here, you could all come in without much trouble."

Steve looked worried and added, "If you're going in, so am I!"

Jon didn't like this suggestion at all. The "old man" would just slow him down and if they got into a firefight, then his loud weapon would give them away. "No," he said. "You can't come because if these guys get into a fight and need fire power you can give it to them. Plus if we are spotted your gun will give us away."

Steve didn't like it, but the kid was right. But he wasn't going to let him have all the fun. "There's a hill right past the hole in the north wall. If we go up behind it we can look at our enemy and see if they're even there."

Jon couldn't argue and they set off for the north side.

Jason and Sergei stared in disbelief as the two Raven operatives just got up and trooped off without so much as an 'excuse me'. "Where are they going?!" Timothy asked, standing up and pointing at their backs.

"Aparently they are going to check out our enemy." Jason replied, Phillip stifling a laugh. "Timothy, chase quietly after them and ensure they return before they begin their own rescue attempt. Remind them that we are a team, not a group of individuals. We welcomed them as a part of this team, not to take it over."

"Yes sir." Timothy nodded, then trotted off after the two foriegners.

Sergei shook his head. "We shouldn't have allowed them to come. They have no respect for command and-"

"Sergei," Jason stopped him, raising his left hand. "Calm down, old friend. They have covert operational training, while with the exception of Timothy we do not. I agree with you, but we must give them a chance." Sergei stood and began to slowly pace, looking towards the city wall in the distance. "Phillip, do you have any other suggestions?"

Phillip looked at the map as if he were going to burn a hole into it. "All I can think of, sir, is to see if maybe Davide left anything that might help us climb the wall. I have some rope, but not nearly enough to climb that wall. If there are guards at the walls, there is a very slim chance we will be able to properly dispose of them. If they can hold off our police forces, how are we supposed to stop them with silenced pistols? Even your sniper rifle can only take out so many before they charge us."

"I hadn't thought of that." Jason answered. "Very well, go see if you can find any remains from Davide's mission and come immediately back. Do NOT attempt to reclaim anything--just come back and report."

Phillip saluted and headed off towards the city. Jason continued to look at the map and Sergei squatted beside him. "And if the Hindus are still around and we have nothing from Davide's team?"

"Then God be with us. I don't want to kill if I don't have to." Jason took a deep breath and looked up into the sky. A bird chirped in the distance, and a squirrel made noise in the leaves as it scurried away towards a tree. "Remember, Sergei, each person you kill today is a non-believer. If you kill someone, you are personally sentencing them to eternity in Hell. And you will have to--"

"Accept responsibility before God at the end of days." Sergei rattled off, almost mechanically. "I know, I know. You drill this into everyone before a battle, you don't think I know it already?"

Jason smiled. "Yes, I know you know it, but do Timothy and Phillip? They have never worked with us before, you know. I need you to help them understand. We must be the example for them."

Sergei nodded, and the two waited for either of the scouting parties to return.

Jon was moving silently when suddenly he saw a gleam of light to his right. He motioned to Steve and they both dropped to the ground. Jon was sure now. It was a gun. He slowly crawled forward and Steve followed. They split into a pincer formation and advanced on the bogey. Jon raised his rifle in a instant. Every muscle in his body wanted to pull the trigger but his brain said "hold, wait and see." It was lucky he listened to his brain. It was Timothy.

"ARGH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" yelled Jon, but Steve silenced him.

Christimiles is offline for the night so I will try to explain the situation as best I can. Earlier today a Hindu Terrorist group attack the Christimilian city of Charleston after being spotted by local police on a routine run. The police held off the Terrorists for as long as they could but were eventually brutally killed. The Terrorists then stated that they would detonate a nuke in the city if their demands were not met. Christimiles sent in an insertion team and they did not come back but no nuke went off. They then proceeded to organize a search and rescue group, which two of my best Raven operatives are a part of. They are attempting to infiltrate the city and find out what happened to the insertation group and if the Hindus ever had a nuke.

Dear DSAC,

We do not harbor terrorist organizations within our borders. They are dealt with in the cruelist manner when caught, as you can see by checking our country dosier. Nor do we have any idea how you connect an "unknown terrorist organization" to us in any way, seeing as we are already under attack at the moment by a "known" terrorist organization.

Truth be known, we are a mostly peaceful nation whom regularly send out large forces of missionaries during crises of national and/or international natures. Any attack upon our lands will result in a full assault from the combined might of the Greater Prussian Imperial Armed Forces. We are a unified region, and do not allow each other to fall under attack from foreigners who think that they can bully us around. If you are being threatened by assisting us, then please assist us only in prayer. That can be the single greatest gift you can give us, and will keep your nation out of danger.

We do not wish for anyone else to be harmed because of this situation. Please give us the chance to deal with this crisis.

Sincerely,
Dr. Steven Peterson
Head Pastor of Christimiles

OOC: what is it with you kids and jumping in to immediately demand stuff from nations two and three times your size??? Check the national dosier for any nation before making random threats. Granted, you are large enough to actually cause a potential problem, but I've had nations with less than 10 million people threatening me from this! Come on guys, use your heads and do a little math here!

Timothy shushed the Raven Operatives with a finger to his mouth, and motioned for them to kneel over by some brush. "I was sent to make sure you didn't tottle off by yourselves and get killed!" Timothy stated in a hushed tone. "Now you listen, and listen good. We are a team, you must do what Jason says to the letter! Do you understand? He asked for your thoughts on the manner to help him make a decision, not for you to run off like this. Jason is a wonderful man, and a great leader, and he does not run off without all of the facts he can.

"Now, while we are out here, let's check out the wall breach and see if we have anyone to worry about. Then we return to report to Jason. That is all. He will decide what happens from there, agreed?"

Czar's Office (OOC: One in the same -- the Czar is the Arch-Chancellor)

Czar Rekjyavich Ivan Andropov III looked over the documents pertaining to Christimiles. "This is not good -- not good at all." He read over the intelligence reports about troop deployments. "You dumbass," he said to himself. "Why did you accept non-Greater Prussian troops? They are easily corruptable. They are not dependable for a nuclear threat. I need to contact him." He read over the Demidia press release. "Oh really, now?" He got on the speaker phone. "Franz, get in here." A minute later, Count Franz von Papen, the Foreign Minister to the Czar, walked in the office and saluted.

"Yessir?"

"See here?" the Czar said, handing the Demidian Release over the huge oak (and concrete) desk to Papen. "Make me a statement. Not really important, I doubt he has the balls to even THINK of touching the Big Red Button. Hand it off to your aides, or something." Papen looked it over and let out a sigh with a hint of laughter.

"Can do. Short and sweet -- to the point?"

"That will be fine. Thank you."

"No problem, sir."

"Damnit" said Jon
"Any sign of an enemy?" Steve asked Jon who had already gotten out his binoculars.
"No, but..... Wait there's something over in that dark corner. Lemme go check it out."

Timothy watched Jon slowly make his way for a closer look at the city wall and couldn't help but be a little apprehensive. Jon returned shortly afterwards with news that there were, indeed, a small contigent of Hindu Activists protecting the wall breach, but they seemed confused and scared. As if they had no true direction, and were just obeying the last order they had received. Timothy nodded and turned to return to the others. Jon had stated there were only four guards--they might be able to pull that off.

Phillip crouched behind a holly bush at the rim of the forest with the city wall twenty yards away. There was a small backpack on the ground, just large enough to be seen, at the base of the hill. Thinking this was odd, Phillip turned to leave when he stopped. A mere foot away from the backpack was a sewage drain. A large sewage drain. The bars within the entrance did not look extremely strong, and might break with a simple explosion. Satisfied with his critique of the situation, Phillip turned to leave when he heard a stick snap some ways behind him. Dropping to the ground, Phillip slowly crawled to his left towards an oak tree. Phillip reached the oak tree, stood on his haunches and looked around the trunk. Two men, dressed in dirty camouflage were walking quietly, looking back and forth as if looking for something.

Or someone.

Phillip drew his pistol and slowly screwed the silencer on. If he was lucky, he could take both of them out before either knew what was going on.

Jason and Sergei were discussing the recent knews of the annexation currently being hammered out in Greater Prussia when a gunshot was heard in the forest. Both looked up and Jason realized in horror that it was coming from Phillip's direction.

Jon, Steve, and Timothy all heard the shot at the same time. They swiveled around towards the noise and moved forward.

They knew that what they were doing was against the regulations of both of their countries, walking towards fire! But it couldn't have been any of the Rescue members as they all had silencers except for Steve. This confused them. Who had been shooting? It was only one shot, so either it was one shot- one kill, or a person with a silenced weapon had taken out the shooter. Either way it was scary to think of what might have happened.

Jon was thinking fast. He always did when his adrenaline was pumping. Who could have shot? Was it the Hindus? The group moved off toward the sound.

The International Rescue Team ran silently through the forest, pistols at the ready. Jason stared ahead, focusing on the direction of the gunshot. Sergei constantly looked from left to right, ensuring that they not be taken by surprise. Timothy fanned out to the left, scanning the trees directly ahead. If something had happened to Phillip, there would be Hell to pay.

Jason snapped his right hand up, bringing the team to a stop, and pointed a few yards ahead, just to the right. There was a body, barely visible in the autumn leaves due to the fatigues the person had been wearing before he died. Not far away was a second body, wearing similar fatigues. He looked as if he had been running when he was shot. Jason and Sergei inched closer when the second man's leg twitched.

"Phillip!" Timothy hissed, running forward. Jason and Sergei looked up and saw Tim heading for a large oak tree, which Phillip was leaning against for support. Jason indicated for Sergei to check on Phillip while he and the Ravens checked out the Hindu who was still breathing.

As Steven left to tend Phillip, Jason looked patiently at Jon. "You seem young, so I will be understanding this time with regards to the prisoner. We are not here to kill these men, we are here to stop them from killing others. If we must kill them to do this, so be it. We are charged with showing others the love of God. Breaking his leg when we are in the middle of questioning him is not love."

"Your . . . God will . . . not . . . save you." The Hindu rasped, gasping for air.

Jason smiled. "My God has already saved me. He is also willing to save you, if you wish. You are dying, friend. Where will you go when this happens?" Jason asked, handing the man a canteen of water.

The Hindu hesitated, then accepted the water and answered. "I will be . . . reborn into . . . a higher . . . caste . . . because of my . . . sacrifice here! You . . . have killed me . . . and by doing so you . . . have granted me a better life."

"No, son, you will not." Jason said, slowly shaking his head. "How sure are you of this?"

"My fathers . . . have always returned!" The Hindu rasped in anger. "I know because I have seen with my own eyes."

"What have you seen?" Jason asked calmly.

"I . . . have met my ancestors who . . . live on . . . in their new . . . what?" The Hindu suddenly attempted to sit up against the tree, eyes wide. "What is that?!"

Jason looked behind him quickly, then turned back to his prisoner. "What is what? What do you see?"

"A . . . a man. Only . . . he is . . . surrounded by . . . light. Bright light." The wounded man shaded his eyes. "No! Get . . . get away! It frightens me! He . . . is beckoning to me . . . calling me to my death . . . "

Jason smiled wide. "No, my friend. That is Jesus. He is calling you, knocking on the door of your heart. Have no fear, He loves you. He wants you to join us in heaven."

"But . . . I have killed your people!" The Hindu was now looking at Jason in disbelief. "How could you possibly want me to be with you? You" He coughed, blood oozing out of his mouth. "You should . . . want only suffering and pain . . . for me."

"What is your name?" Jason asked, taking out a handkerchief and wiping the sweat off of the man's forehead, then wiping his mouth for him.

"Ibrihim." The man answered, looking at Jason with awe, then looking again behind Jason at the vision only he could see.

"Ibrihim, Jesus loves you, as do I. I want no pain or anguish to befall you, and I will only kill your brethren whom attempt to kill me or my citizens. All Jesus asks is for you to believe. How can you not believe your eyes? He is before you. Won't you let him in?"

Ibrihim tried to stand and Jason grabbed his underarm and walked with him. A few feet away, Ibrihim began to openly weep and Jason let him go. Miraculously, the Hindu stood on his own and seemed to hug an unseen being. "You are real!" He cried out between the sobs. "You are God! You must be. I cannot ask you to forgive me of my past. I . . . what?" He then looked at Jason, still holding on to the air. "He said He will forgive me! He still loves me!"

Jason nodded. "Ask Him. Ask Him to forgive you and love you. He will not deny you."

Ibrihim then asked, and began to shake with sobs of happiness. He then collapsed to the ground and Jason ran to his side. Turning Ibrihim over, the former Hindu looked at Jason and smiled. "Thank you. Thank you . . . my . . . frie . . n . d."

Thank you for your help. A medium-sized force should be enough, just large enough to make an effective blockade around the city. Do not enter the city gates, I cannot stress this enough. We already have a team moving inside, as you are aware, and we are afriad that a large-scale force moving into the city could result in retaliatory attacks upon the citizens of Christimiles, and this must be avoided at all costs.

Your orders are to simply blockade the city. No one enters, and only citizens of Christimiles who can verify their citizenship (ie: all citizens upon reaching the age of 16 years takes a simple test to make sure they have greater than a third-grade reading level and are given a citizenship card and full voting and other rights granted to all citizens of the country) are allowed to exit. "We have a hard decision to make. We have got to get inside that city, and we have to do it as quickly as possible. This has drawn out too long already, I wanted to be inside an hour ago. You say the breach is being held by four men?" Timothy nodded. "That was only the guards, I am sure they have a few more waiting. Sergei, are you sure Phillip said nothing else when you discovered him?"

Sergei cleared his throat. "He only apologized and pointed towards the city wall."

Hearing this Jason looked sharply at Sergei. "You never mentioned that before."

"It was an irrevelant gesture." Sergei remarked. "You had ordered him to check out the city wall, he died before he could complete that mission and was pointing out his inability to fulfill his duty."

Jason stood and turned to the city wall, scanning it quickly. Nothing seemed to jump out at him. A sewage pipe with an iron grate, skid marks where the Inerstion Team had undoubtedly scaled the wall . . . then he saw it. On the ground, two feet away from the wall, was a small backpack. "Of course!" Jason proclaimed, running towards the pack.

"Of course, what?" Sergei asked loudly, chasing after Jason with Timothy on his heels.

Jason reached the backpack and carefully picked it up. "Davide always likes to leave a present whenever he enters an enemy stronghold. His calling card is a backpack, or something similar, filled with C-4 to kill anyone who may have been close enough to witness his escapade.

"And this helps us, how?" Timothy inquired. "Phillip was our explosion expert and bomb technician. Nobody here can get dispose of it unless we set it off."

"Which is exactly what we are going to do." Jason exclaimed, much to the shock of the others. "I bet the Ravens can guess what my plan is."

Spreading out the map, Timothy backed away giving Jason enough room to point out areas of importance. "Alright, this pipe must be . . . here . . . " Jason pointed to an area just above the insertion point of Davide's team. "Which means that it should lead into South Main St." Jason's finger followed the road that shadowed the city wall. At each gate it changed names to reflect the direction it was following, from South to West, etc. "We can follow it north until it meets with the West Gate and turns into West Main St., and from there turn onto Campobello Dr. See the manhole on Johnson Rd.? It is just off of the main road, and in an area that should be fairly ignored and inconspicuous. That is where we will exit the sewers and begin our search for the Insertion Team. Sound good to everyone?"

Sergei nodded thoughtfully while Timothy gathered the map. Jason turned to the Ravens and asked if they had any thoughts.

Timothy stood, placed the map in his shoulder pocket of his uniform jacket and stared intently at Phillip's and Ibrihim's graves.

As they walked towards the drain pipe, watching for enemies on the city wall, Timothy had a concern. "How do we get the C-4 out of the backpack? Doesn't Davide set it up so that if you unzip it it goes off?"

Jason smiled. "Yes, that is true, but there is more than one pocket." They reached the pipe, and Jason placed the pack carefully on the ground. Unzipping the bottom pocket revealed a hole that had been cut into the main bag itself, allowing easy access to the explosives within. Jason carefully removed the connectors off of the main zipper, and indicated for Sergei to go ahead and open the main pocket. Taking out the three blocks of explosives, Jason and Sergei placed them equidistant from each other, attaching them to individual poles of the grate, and backed away.

Jason nodded towards Timothy as he and Sergei pulled out their silenced pistols, and aimed at a different C-4 block.

Deep within the city walls, a small rumble was heard, as if a thunderclap had just broken out over a plain of grass in the distance. The few people brave enough to be outside looked up expecting to see a thunderhead, but instead merely saw blue sky.

OOC: :( dang! their names are close to each other and I messed up. Sorry.

IC: Jon and Steve waited to go in until after the locals. They wanted to be behind because, if any Hindus snuck up behind, they didn't want to be out of the action. They reached a manhole with fingerholes in it. The dim light could be used to read the map."Where to now?" asked Jon.

Timothy pulled out the map, folded for quicker reference to their location, and quietly pointed to their left. Jason and Sergei looked up and saw a large underground river of sludge with a small catwalk-looking sidewalk on either side. Jason indicated for Sergei and Timothy to take the right side while he and the Ravens took the left side. Sergei started to argue, but Jason stopped him midsentence.

"If something happens, I would feel safer if you and Timothy were together. It will not be fair or wise to separate the Ravens. They are a trained team, and they are in a foreign land. If a situation comes up, they will work better together than separated. Besides, you might lose your temper with them if I gave them to you."

Sergei almost smiled as he nodded at that comment, and the teams split up.

The sewer smelled even worse than Jason had anticipated, and the scant light from the various manholes were not much help. Jason risked a quick glance at the rancid river beside him and was positive he saw something swim within the depths. Revolted, he turned his attention back to the passage that was beginning to curve, ever so slightly.

Sergei grunted at the aroma of the area. Moving as quietly as his large bulk would allow, he watched his footing. He was afraid of slipping into the God-knows-what in the sewage to his left. Ahead, all he could see was sparce light-rays and the shifting vapors of Charleston's bi-products slowly evaporating into the atmosphere. Sergei was not used to being so enclosed like this, he was an outdoors man. He grew up in Siberia, where it was always snowing and you had to dig a hole to escape the vast fields of trees. Clastrophobia was slowly beginning to take its toll, but the gigantor fought the fear down. He had been in closer proximities than this, and considering it was a sewer it was very spacious. He had nothing to fear.

Timothy attempted to check the map occasionally, but finally gave up and returned the map to his pocket. Pulling out a handkerchief, he covered his mouth and nose to try to stiffle the smell. It did not help, but at least he thought it was. He followed Sergei methodically, almost as if he were in a dream. He wasn't, and bringing himself back to reality he started counting the manholes. There was one manhole for each major intersection, and one between those, which meant they would be turning onto Campobello Rd. at the seventh hole. They had just passed the second, which meant five more to go. Timothy coughed, attempting to silence it. Sergei turned sharply to make sure his teammate was alright, then sharply brought his finger to his lips to tell him to be quiet. Timothy nodded, and they continued on their way.

Suddenly, in the distance a muffled sound was heard. Jason raised his hands to order the stop. After a second of listening it was clearly a voice ahead of them.

They were not alone.

Jon and Steve quickly brought their weapons up to face the noise. Jon was relaxed, as his father had tought him to be in a tense situation. The place is already tense enough. It can't have you being tense too. That's what his father would say. Jon had taken it to heart, as his father should know. He was the founder of Raven. The best that Opinno had ever had, and Jon was proud of that. He had died honorably defending Jon's mother in the streets during the coup of 213. (Current year is 226.) He was just 5. Jon was older now, a man. He knew that when his father had told him this, it was for Jon's sake, not his own.
Steve was not so easy. He knew the horrors of war and the indescribable pain of being shot. That was why he did this. He didn't feel safe without his Browning .50 cal. by his side. He could have retired years ago but for the feeling of nakedness with no protection. He watched and listened as the voice grew closer.

D'Erlon looked at the message. Wonderful. He got on the phone with Sir Arthur Wellesy.

Wellesy: What? I'm at a meeting.

D'Erlon: Sorry. This is D'Erlon. It has been approved.

Wellesy: Okay. First Corps will handle it.

D'Erlon: Okay. Bye/

Jason took a second and listened closely to the coming sounds. He could just about make out a discernable word when a shaft of light penetrated the darkness like an arrow. Dropping his hand, Jason threw himself against the sewer wall, Sergei and Timothy finding refuge in a side tunnel across the sewage. The beam of a flashlight swayed to and fro sporadically, and after another moment or two, words were finally distinguishable in the deep.

" . . . if they are down here too?" The hushed voice of a young lady was heard. "How would we know? Will they kill--"

"Stop talking about it!" A young male cut in. "We'll be fine. As long as you know where we are going . . . "

A second male voice piped up, slightly louder than the others. "Of course I know where we are going! Do you think I am an idiot? I'm not stupid you know! I've played in these sewers all of my childhood, I know exactly where we are!"

"Okay, okay, not so loud!" The first voice retorted. "Just because we haven't heard anyone doesn't mean they are not hiding . . . " The three teenagers walked past the Rescue Team, the female and first male walking past Sergei and Tim, and the navigator passing dangerously close to Jason. " . . . somewhere close by, listening to every word we--"

Jason was just beginning to get annoyed at them when Sergei broke the silence. "Oh, but we are little children. We are."

Before the young man and woman could scream, Sergei and Tim both grabbed them, covering their lips as the team members attempted to calm down the young adults.

Jon dropped down next to the fray. As soon as he had heard the voices, he had grabbed at the ceiling and, feeling a ledge, lifted himself up, invisible, from the ground. After he heard Sergei talk, he knew that the local rescue team knew something about these people.
Steve, being not so trusting, stayed against the wall with his gun pointed at the strangers. He had a feeling that they were friendly, but in his experiance, feelings weren't everything.
"Who are they?" asked Jon

OOC: I am Opinno also. I recently sold Langola so now I will be using either this or Opinno. And yes. I know I make too many nations. I can't help myself.

Jason could see the young man in front of him tense up, and he quickly covered his mouth to muffle the yell that attempted to escape his lips. The boy struggled for a moment, but was very weak compared to the battle-hardened missionary, and soon surrendered. Jason looked across the sewage and saw Sergei wrestling the other boy to the ground while Timothy held the young lady against the wall, attempting to calm her down. Jason forced his captive to look at him and whispered, "Calm down, we are here to help. If I let you go do you promise not to scream and run away?" The boy nodded, and Jason released him. "Who are you, and what are you doing?"

The boy shaked with fright, his glasses clicking silently in the dark. "We were trying to escape! I know these sewers . . . pretty well, and we thought we could make it out of the city walls using one of the large exit pipes."

Jason looked at him suspiciously. "Are you aware that the pipes have metal grate to prevent people from doing just that? How did you plan on opening it?"

The boy paled. "They . . . have grates?"

Jason almost smiled at the boy's innocence. "Yes, they have grates. Do you know where you are?"

"Yes, we are nearing South Main St., and we were planning on using the pipe just down the road here." The young man lowered his head, then suddenly jerked it back up again. "Wait! how did you get in here?"

This time Jason did smile; a big, toothy smile. "We blasted open the grate. Surely you heard it!" Jason looked over and saw Timothy had released the girl and was speaking with her, but Sergei was still on top of the boy. "Sergei!" Jason risked speaking a little louder to get his attention. "Let the boy go! They are from the city!"

Reluctantly, Sergei let the boy up, who immediately jumped to the wall and clung to it in fear.

Jason returned his attention to the boy. "What is your name, son?"

"Daniel. Daniel Jacobs. Are you here to kill the terrorists?"

"No. We are here to find out what happened to the original team who was sent here to kill the terrorists. Can you tell us what has been happening in the city?"

Sergei grunted in frustration, and Jason raised a hand to tell them to wait. Daniel nodded his head to the question. "Jon, Steven. Where are you?" Jason asked, looking around. "I want you to hear this as well."

Jon walked slowly to Jason's side. Steve was still wary, and came closer, but not too close. They waited for the Locals to start questioning the boy.

"It is a shame," the Czar said. "That nobody can make up THEIR FUCKING MIND around here!" the Czar yelled at the General Staff. "I designate command of the group to the Legio Dei, then they pass it off to Third Corps, who them pass it off to First, and then it goes back to the Legio Dei. Since obviously none of you want to work, i'm, telling you know. Admiral Herkjyavich?"

"Yessir?"

"You are to send a Regiment of Marines -- preferably Force Recon -- and a team or seven of SEALS. The SEALS are to stay in contact with the Palace at all times. D'Erlon?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Armored Division 104."

"Yessir."
=======================
Three hours later, five C-130's were loaded up with the Marines and the SEALS and flew to the Christmiles city. They parachuted about five miles away from the grates. There mission was to enter the city in complete stealth, locate the nuclear bomb, and deavtivate it. Although they did not have it now, satellite images of radioactive materials were going to be sent to them to better locate the weapon.

The Marines were armed with traditional battle fatigues, with no rank insignia anywhere. They all had head-mounted goggles which could switch between thermal and low-light vision.
Demolitions experts were armed with L85A1's, with a sidearm of either a Desert Eagle .50 or an RPG. They were each issued two Claymore mines or two breaching charges. Also, they were armed with three fragmentation grenades and two White Phosphourus grenades.
Snipers were armed with a modified PSG-1 equipped with a scilencer. Sidearm of a scilenced Beretta 92FS.
Support Soldiers were armed with a Desert Eagle .50 and an FN Minimi SAW. They all had three Frag Grenades and a WP grenade.
Riflemen were armed with either XM8's or OICW's, with a sidearm of a scilenced .45 colt. Each had two Frags, one WP, and two Flashbang grenades.

The SEALS were in the Delta Force fatigues -- all black with infared/low-light/binocular/thermal mounted goggles (they could switch).
There were no Demo agents in the team, though. That was for the Force Recon people.
The Advance Team was armed with scilenced F2K submachine guns, and a scilenced 9mm 92FS.
The Riflemen were armed the same as the Marines, as were the Support and the Snipers.

All soldiers had Isreali Covert knives.
Once they parachuted out of the plane, they immediately setup a permineter. They were not supposed to be there -- no soldier; not even a Christmiles soldier, is to be allowed to see them. No Christmiles casualties are to be allowed, so they have to do their best not to be seen.

After the coast was clear, the Advance Squadron left, and ten minutes later, the other SEALS followed, with the Marines leaving Five after them. As they approached the city, they thought about their entrance.
