In a surprise move today, the Head of the Space Forces, Dr. D. Ivanov, today revealed that work is commencing on a space station. Though the details are at best sketchy, the station's purpose has been declared to be "purely scientific." Dr. Ivanov stated categorically that "this station cannot and will not be used for offensive munitions deployment." He went on to say that the total sum allocated - 1.2 trillion dollars - would hopefully be sufficient to allow the station to become fully operative within 5 years.

The station will be manned 365 days per year by a crew of 20. It will be used to conduct research into upper atmospheric phenomena, space travel, and various other programmes. It has also been mooted that the station will be used to launch satellites, though the exact nature of these has yet to be clarified.

"It's a very exciting prospect," said Dr. Ivanov at today's press conference. "The station will make use of the very latest in technology. We do not doubt that it will provide benefits that easily outweigh the cost of its' construction."

In a momentous move today, the first parts of the National Space Station were lifted into space above DPUO. The parts, comprising the first 30 feet of the main cylindrical hull section containing life-support equipment, will be joined within a fortnight by the command module, and thereafter by the power train. It is hoped that the station will become active on solar battery power within 5 weeks.

Due to DPUO's and USSNA's long history of running join project together,
we wish to offer our support and backing for this project. We can manufacture
parts, share technology, and put parts into space. If you agree please reply to
this message. We hope that our support is accepted and that we can work
together to make a better world.

Signed,
Michale Krustave
Minister of Foreign Relations

We would be very happy to receive USSNA's help in this project.
We hope that your aid will allow this station to come online more rapidly
and be considerably larger than was originally planned.
The next part scheduled for launch is a rig of four solar panels to be
attached to the main power train.

We would also like to help. We can build items, provide crewmen, and/or provide financial support. Also, deployment would be easier for us since we are a space-nation.
