It was Christmas Eve. President George Ugambaye sat at the head of a long table, surrounded by his cabinet ministers, generals, and most trusted officials. The large man stood, his glass overflowing with champagne. He spoke, his speech half slurred.

"On this day of our Lord's birth, I want to thank all of you for being here with me to celebrate. Let us make a toast. To the health of Confedracia!"

The gathered persons echoed the toast.

"What the hell, to my health!"

The gathered echoed this as well, albeit without as much fervor.

"I want to tell you all, that it's been an honor working with you, and an honor leading this (hiccup) great nation, but it's been a fucking nightmare dealing with the idiots that would have me ousted, and so I am forced to (hiccup) say that I am resigning. As of this moment, I will no longer be your President. Now if you will excuse me, I have to catch a flight to Switzerland."

The President drained his glass, and ran towards the door, where he was met by an aid carrying a suitcase. Large bills protruded from the case. Some fluttered to the floor, and the aid scrambled to pick them up.

"Hurry up! There is not much time!"

The two men ran, leaving behind a room full of silent, frightened officials. By morning, they were halfway to Zurich, and a rebel army was knocking on the gates of the capital city of Mabuto.

---------------------

Under the command of a certain General David Mobagatu, an army of 10,000 rebel soldiers entered the capital city, and paraded triumphantly through the streets, finally coming to halt at the gates of the presidential palace. General Mobagatu was welcomed with open arms by the people, and reluctantly by former presidential loyalists. By sunrise, he had taken his seat in ex-President Ugambaye's office.

---------------------

General Mobagatu stood on a balcony before an assembled crowd of 25,000. He wore military fatigues and a red beret with an insignia of the CFPM (Confedracian Free People's Movement) emblazoned on the front. He spoke.

"My people, I speak to you today as a triumphant man. As your will would have it, I have ousted the tyrant who had oppressed you for so long. Now, I hope to lead you into a new era of light and democracy. Let us throw of our old chains, and enter prosperity and happiness together!"

The crowd cheered at the unusually brief speech. The General turned, and walked into the palace, off of the high balcony.

Within a week, the General held elections, a sham of an affair (the populace was bullied by Mobagatu's soldiers, so naturally out of fear they voted for him. It also helped that he was the only candidate on the ballot.).
