How do we pay for stuff? Is there some way to make money?

There is no money system in the game. Everything is done through role play. There are some calculators to help you see your governments budget. Once you see your governments budget, you could, for example, allocate 15% of your budget going to the military. Typically 1/3 of that goes to the procurement of new equipment. You can then go to peoples storefronts and purchase things from them.

This may sound a bit nasty, but why don't you use your common sense and look at the thread that says 'Guide to Nationstates' in big bold letters? Either that or click the big shiny button that says 'FAQ'?
It should be some kind of selection trial to join the NS roleplay community: Only thou who seeks the holy sticky shall enter.
