People complain of many Chinese coming to our nation. They insist on naming the nation 'The Chinese People.'

Onboard Craft And Facilities:

-Aviation: A large, nearly full-length flightdeck with an area of roughly 40,000 metres square, covering the surface of the ship apart from the bow and the rear VLS systems. Six EM catapults have been installed, two moving off the bow ski-jump, and two moving off either ‘wing’ on the secondary hulls. The ski-jump is designed to allow the easier operation of VSTOL aircraft as well as allowing larger aircraft with significant loading weight to take off, providing the aircraft has sufficient structural strength.

There is one full length landing space with four arrestor wires, and one dedicated VSTOL landing area opposite the starboard island. There are two dedicated hangars beneath the flight deck. The upper hangar deck is full length, including moving into the wings over the secondary hull where space allows. The lower hangar deck is located in the central hull only, and terminates aft into the marine vehicle pool. Full maintenance, arming, refuelling and overhauling facilities are provided. A total of 168 aircraft can be carried across the three decks. Six elevators are fitted, with one on either secondary hull serving the upper hangar, and four internal ones serving the flight deck and both hangar decks.

Boats: Because of the embarked troops, the Ocean is equipped with a drywell deck for the carriage of two LCACs in adequate but slightly cramped confines. This dry well is located at the rear of the vessel, as is connected by a ramp to the vehicle pool and the lower aircraft hangar. Maintenance can be performed, and the well-deck is entirely sealed from the outside when the ramp is closed. The LCACs are not sold with the Ocean however.

To aid the landing of troops against hostile shores and for basic transportation duties, four LCTs are carried in divots within recessed bays along either side of the secondary hulls. Capable of carrying up to 44 troops, or 10 tons of cargo, these small craft provide a useful addition to the landing capability of the Ocean. As one Freethinker marine pointed out, if a single design has been kept by every military in the world for eighty years…then there has to be something right with it. Four LCTs are included in the purchase price.

Finally, a dozen fifteen foot rigid inflatable boats are embarked for general duties. These are mounted in two recessed bays either side on the secondary hulls. These cheap all-purpose boats are a standard feature of Freethinker design, and do the job adequately.

Overview Of Capability:

Although like all carriers the Ocean relies on her aircraft as her principle offensive and defensive force, Freethinker designers recognise the need for significantly better levels of defence than those available of traditional carriers. Given the fact the Ocean needs to be able to support its own, as well as other, amphibious troops, it was imperative that the ship possess an over-horizon attack capability.

For this, three 96-cell single load strategic VLS were installed on the aft end of the ship. Equipped with a variety of ordinance, including short- and intermediate- range SAMs, SSMs and cruise missiles to support marine operations, the system is the Ocean’s main deterrent against aggressors. It should be noted that traditional landing procedures shouldn’t be attempted when the VLS is firing.

For closer range protection, 7 Mk.3 Joint Ordinance CIWS are fitted, six in pairs on either beam mounted on sponsons, two pairs before the secondary hulls and one pair aft. The seventh mount is located aft of the VLS system. These excellent CIWS use both 40mm cannons and up to 18 small missiles to engage approaching SSMs and enemy aircraft.

For defence against torpedoes, 4 ASW mortars were installed in sponsons on either side of the ship. These mortars work by creating a gaseous pocket within the water, which either destroys the cavity of a Supercav torpedo, or by forcing a traditional torpedo to leave and then re-enter the water with the resultant force often detonating the torpedo.

Alinghi – Trimaran Air Defence Battleship

Overview
The Alinghi class battleship is designed to provide theatre air and ABM defence for allied fleets. Acting as an escort, the Alinghi is designed to survive multiple hits from threats such as anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs) and scramjet shells and still function effectively. In theory, the Alinghi can intercept up to 2,520 aircraft or missiles simultaneously.

Special Design Features

*Stealth
The Alinghi features a outward-facing hull covered with DuRAMs to reduce radar cross section significantly. Radar guided munitions will be unable to pinpoint specific locations onboard and decoys will become more effective.

*Hardened VLS Cells
While the VLS payload of the Alinghi appears small compared to its contemporary, the advantages of the Alinghi's 45 x 14 VLS layout are great. Most foreign VLS cells are packed tight – examples of this can be seen on the USN's conceptual arsenal ship. The main disadvantage of this is that a small explosion will start a chain reaction, destroying the vessel and damaging nearby vessels. The Alinghi's VLS cells have 1.8m of space between each of them, reducing the possiblity of a chain reaction. The VLS are also armoured with 3 inches of LiquidSteel and located in the secure main hull which is protected by the heavily armoured side hulls from ASCMs and are slightly depressed within the hull, allowing the fitting of eight slide-on armoured plates 8 inches thick. The cells are also filled with argon which serves to stifle combustion and fitted with fire extinguishment systems.

*EMP Protection
The superstructure and armour scheme includes a layer of copper which acts as a Faraday cage. It should also be noted that the LiquidSteel used in the armour is non-magnetic and provides partial shielding. Important electronic equipment is linked by optics, protected by insulating materials and Faraday cages, cut-off fuses and reserve arrays are built into the circuitary.

*Pebble Bed reactors
The Alinghi's Pebble Bed reactors are located closer to the centre of the hull than on traditional warships, increasing survivability from shells and anti-ship cruise missiles.

1. The Is. of Hokkaido must be leased to the Chinese nations (Xiaguo, Sino and _Taiwan).

OOC 1: Neither has the X-36. Originally I proposed twin engine to match the F/A-22, but then I realized that same speeds can be achieved with a single engine one, also maximizing fuel economy.

OOC 2: The statue goes on. Just have a little light source on the lighter to represent the flames and carve a shallow circle on the burning flag so the 3D effect enhances the Japness.
