A Brief History of Neo-Valhalla
1985- The young nation of Neo-Valhalla elects a right-wing government into power, led by Joseph Yorke, after the previous centrist government was ineffective in dealing with rising unemployment, crime and nationwide poverty.
1987- Joseph Yorke rules using terror and forced labour. Unemployment is still out of control and poverty is growing ever worse except for the 2% of the population who become part of Yorke's inner circle, the 'Elite,' They benefit from tax breaks and the outlawing of workers unions. In return the rich, largely corporation owners, help in spurting out pro-government propaganda and training secret police to control the masses.
1990- A peaceful communist demonstration takes place in the capital. The secret police and the army fire upon the protesters killing 74 before they disperse. An illegal journalist films the incident and it shown worldwide. The journalist later disappears.
1991- A powerful neighbouring country, Mooligar, sees the film and prepares their armies to invade Valhalla. Joseph Yorke has a summit with the leaders of neighbouring countries shocked by the film and agrees to allow the people to have free elections that year with the other countries monitoring to make sure it is fair. In December the Yorke regime is voted out and the 'Peoples Republic' under Nial Main takes power turning the country to a communist nation.
2002-The Mooligar nation collapses due to internal and outside pressures.
2003- With Mooligar out of the way a small right-wing rebel force grows and they make minor terrorist attacks in an attempt to put Joseph Yorke's son Alexis Yorke into power.
2004- Nial Main, leader of the people republic is assassinated on his balcony in west Valhalla. The 'Yorke' terrorist group claims they did it.
September, 2004- The Deputy leader, Johnny Simonon, declares a "Guerrilla Civil War" against the "New Right Wing Terror" As he gives this speech rebels raid and destroy a small military base and raid it for ammunition and equipment. On hearing the news Simonon requests for international aid.
OCC: This is a guerrilla war. I am RPing as the People Republic government; they have many resources and are large in numbers.
Someone is needed to Rp as the 'Yorke Terrorists' who are well trained, armed sufficiently but lacking in numbers.
Others can join as 'international aid'
