The 3rd Expeditionary Fleet with its seventeen vessels as well as six Marine support and attack vessels, has relocated from its previous area of operations to the West Mediterranean AOP (Designated AOP-M2 [Located west of Italy]). The force will position itself well within international waters. The 3rd Expeditionary Fleet had been designated as a land operations fleet (note its Marine presence) and area defense fleet. A total of 7000 Marines are spread through-out the fleet along with their compliments of vehicles, tanks, artillery, support, and air support.
A second expeditionary fleet, the newly commissioned 14th Expeditionary Fleet (with mostly new vessels as well as a single Torrent-class arsenal ship) will arrive in the same area in a matter of days. The 14th Expeditionary Fleet has been designated as a land operations support fleet with a secondary role as an aerial operations fleet. The flagship of the 14th is the RNS Admiral Turntovienskiy, an Admiral Vinogradov-class medium carrier. The 14th Expeditionary Fleet was also home to one battalion of 2500 marines and their support vessels.
Atlantic LAS General Command was unsure whether or not it would deploy the 1st Battle Fleet, one of the ARSB's two designated attack fleets (heavy marine presence, heavy air support units, and massive land operation potential). For now, the 1st Battle Fleet, stationed in the Atlantic, would remain in the Atlantic, making a regularly scheduled port call at a nearby USSCR base for fuel, ammunition, crew change, and foodstuffs.
ALASGC had no official comment concerning the situation as did Joint Forces Command.
