Hatarian Ports to be attacked!

14 SSN-994s moved gracefully through the deep ocean. Their depth of 1,200m was very deep, but also a safe level for the sub. Behind them, about 300m above were 4 Borei SSGN's, and 8 AMS-84M's. The major Hatarian port was 650km away. Soon the subgroup would be within range of the port. Further to the North and West were a dozen pairs of SSN-994's, cruising the ocean, should Subgroup 1 require assistance. Contact was very minimal. A single Oscar-R sub accompanied the group, but it moved seperatly. It was recently designed to allow Artitsan subs to operate without AWACs support. The Oscar did not raise much suspicion, especially being 650km's from the coast of Hataria... such distances placed it in the middle of International Waters. It was however, quite valuable to the Artitsan's. It still maintained 4 533mm torpedo tubes, but all other weapon systems were removed. Now it mounted a massive super computer system, with a FL/NQSS-09 Surface Search radar system, which can detect and guide weapons out to 895km. Within the empty space once occupied by the VLS tubes, now sat a large satellite dish, like those you would find on the Global Hawk UAV. Linked Directly to the Artitsan Space Recon and Survery Division, the Akula further boosted its detection range to 1500km. Four seperate towed Sonars were extended from the keel of the sub, allowing for a sonar range of a massive 180km. A small transmitter on the keel allowed the Oscar-R to become the communications hub between all the subs and the outside world. This prevented the Subfleet from being detected via transmissions...

Hopefully Hataria hadn't caught wind of the Subs, but it was no real risk... their navy had been destroyed and their country was in tatters.

ooc: I am giving you the option of engaging my subs... you'll have to be smart about it though.

Sailor: "Sir, our remote radar stations are picking up movement near Hataria."

Admiral: "Ignore it. Knowing Hataria, its probably an imaginary sea monster."

Sailor: "Oh. Very good, sir."

Admiral: "Yes. Dismissed."

ooc: Thats the beauty. A Single ship in the middle of the ocean is nothing of notice to anyone... since it could be a fishing trawler, cargo ship, or just a leisure boat. And theres no reason to attack an unidentified Submarine in the middle of the Ocean either :D

President Zaitsev's viewing screen flashed to life with a message marked "urgent". He pressed "enter" on his new computer and the message opened to Admiral Luther. Luther looked rather happy as he spoke.

"We have detected an unidentified vessel near Hatarian waters. It seems likely to be some sort of warship, or so say our satellite. What do you propose we do?"

Zaitsev stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"Well, it might be fun to watch. Keep your eye on Hataria and move two Tsunami's parallel to the vessel. If war breaks out, we're on their side."

He chuckled and terminated the message. He hated Hataria, but that did not mean that he had to destroy them again. He might if he had to, but he'd do his best not to side with Hataria.

A E-2D Hawkeye II from the RNS John Paul Gaston was on a routine patrol. When it detected the sub it circled the contact and returned to the carrier.

ooc: Lets see... So you the first guy wants to blow my cover by putting more ships around my one, which is still incredibly hard to detect by satellite or AWACs... Oscar's aren't exactly the easiest ship to find.

The Ocean is a very very large place and I doubt your E-2D will manage to stumble across it. Shit like this doesn't happen in RL... on Radar a submarine would more then likely look like a regular ship, and like I said, you would think nothing of it.

ic: Warns flashed repeatedly in the Oscar-R... airborne contact traveling 400mph, North East, possible AWACs contact. Immediatly the Airsearch Radar (FLNQ-AS-042) planned out the aircrafts predicted course based on speed and direction. Firing solutions were produced and relayed down to the SSN-994's, which armed their SA-N-14 missiles. The AWACs was painted, and a burst message sent to the AWACs.

"This is the Artitsan SSN Kamskgrad. We are performing training manuevers in international territories. Do not engage. Repeat, Training exercise, do not engage."

You mean the shipyards that the entire alliance (myself included) reduced to radioactive scrapyards?

Oh, and IIRC, i have a battlegroup in this area that i never recalled. Plus the end of the Belem blockade frees up my forces there. I also stated that i was deploying forces to, quote "keep an eye on you", and since my navy isn't pressingly required elsewhere, having a fleet this size here isn't out of line.

ooc: SPIES?! HA! And how would KGB Spies gain word of such a military move. My President isn't aware of my subs moving, only the Admiral of Subsurface Warfare and the captains of each ship. Just RP gaining access to my country with your KGB and I'll be fine with it.

ic:
Helms of the SSN-994-01
Captain Vladerdonsky was in control of the most experienced SSN-994 in the fleet. For this reason, and this reason only was he the Flagship of the Subgroup. Data was transmitted down from the Oscar-R. He had a tough decision. There was the Brydog ships closing, for some unknown reason. He should destroy them just for coming to investigate a Artitsan Sub. No doubt they would intend to board it, impound it, and steal its impressive technology. Then there was the 12 Destroyers coming from Hataria, and the reports of two Battleships roaming the oceans. They had yet to be detected, but...

He looked over the charts. He would move Patrols 4 and 5 to block Brydog and turn them around, Patrols 1, 2, and 3 would engage the Hatarians... he would have to move fast from that point. It would give away the element of surprise. He did have an ace up his sleeve. Only his sub carried two of them, and he would need to make them count.

"Load ASEMP Torpedo's, tubes 1 and 3. Arm torpedoes, and await launch order."
The 650mm torpedoes were loaded into the tubes, which were then flooded with water.
"Weapons free. Mr Konstra fire ASEMP Torpedoes!"

The two torpedo hatches slid open, and the torpedoes were slowly slipped out. They traveled at 2kts perfectly silent forward 100m. A full minute passed before their lithium batteries sprang to life, propelling the Torpedoes from 2kts to 58kts in under a minute. They had not targeted the Destroyers themselves... instead they moved to either side of the flotilla. The Destroyers would be performing emergency maneuvers, and deploying countermeasures, but the Torpedoes were not heading for a set target and would not fall for it. Once within 100ft, the battery and screw broke off, revealing a solid fuel rocket booster, and two ailerons folded out to the sides of the Torpedo. An air pocket was formed around the nozzle, via supercavitation, and the rocket engaged, sending the torpedo up at a 45* angle. They broke the waters surface, only a few dozen feet from the 12 Destroyers. Within 2 seconds of sencing water break their EMP warheads detonated, each sending a pulse half a km in each direction powerful enough to certainly knockout a ships systems.

The enemy destroyers would surely be helpless now, and with no way to inform their homeport of what just happened. The Oscar-R Sent a small burst transmission to Muru:

"This is the Artitsan SSN, Kamskgrad. Enemy Destroyers neutralized. Please move in to scuttle Hatarian shipping."

uh... no.

ic:

The Hatarians were headed out to the ocean find this subfleet, but they didn't have a clue where it was. They were moving in blind, since the destroyers had been shut down, and they could not transmit anything. It would take over 8hrs for the Hatarians to reach the sub's positions, so now would be the time to strike. The 8 Borei SSGN's opened their VLS hatches, and began cycling off their AM-96E's, which were ground attack missiles. A total of 1152 missiles were launched at the Hatarian Docks. Radiation from SAM sites would be targeted first, then births, warehouses, cranes, supplies, weapon depots, personal quarters, and the likes. Each missile carried a 800kg warhead, and traveled 5m above the surface.

The 18 SSN-994's decieded it would be best to fire their AM-96B's at the incoming Hatarian fleet. 1656 AM-96B antishipping missiles flew at Mach 2.8 towards the Hatarian fleet.

Two AMS-84's hung back, not willing to launch their 288 AM-N-96E's just yet. Thermonuclear weapons would have to wait depending on the Hatarian reaction.

12 533mm torpedoes were fired at the 12 Destroyers that were disabled, and 4 Torpedoes were fired at each Battleship.
